✓ Fun and fast.....with the right folksLove this game since the early 70's.We used a board back then and the Egyptians used stones. Best game since the beginning of time. Only change to this version is when your opponent has had enough of you discipline and they just stop and leave the game, we're stuck for several minutes waiting for the game to give you the option of getting the win. There's a “flaw” in its program that allows it to accept doubling and even double back when it thinks it's ahead, even though its pieces are trapped deeply behind 5 or 6 point blockades. Update-- better be well ahead so that when the computer rolls doubles 3 consecutive times (and it will), you'll be ready. Update—it’s not rolling doubles so frequently anymore..Version: 4.6.6

✓ Wowza!I have the ad-free version of this app and I love it nearly to the point of addiction. I primarily play backgammon, but the app also offers nackgammon, acey-ducey and Old English versions. I greatly enhanced my playing skills by using the app's "achievements" feature and progressing through easy, medium, then hard categories and earning badges as I completed fun tasks. After honing my skills against the computer, I graduated to the online version of backgammon, where I enjoy playing "live" against opponents. I rarely have to wait more than a minute for the app to match me with a player. Lastly, I appreciate comparing my growing skill level by referring to the stats on the leaderboards. ✓ DoublesI consider myself an excellent player. I live in a retirement community and play all the time. I have also played in tournaments with great success. There should be about 15 percent doubles and not 40 percent in each game. Roll a pair of dice 100 times over and over again and you will average about 15 percent. Please check it out for yourself. ✓ Great Game! Just a tad too easy.This is a great starter for beginner backgammon players. It has free hints, which can help the beginner learn the basics and so on. For more experienced players, it’s a little too easy. I skipped to the hard difficulty as the lower ones made moves that didn’t do anything in their advantage, even sometimes leaving single markers that are in spots that are easy to hit. ✓ Great game, new challenge banners annoyingI've been playing the ad free version for a few years and have enjoyed it. I've tried to look for a way to opt out of this new challenge thing where these annoying banners drop down in the middle of my turn, but no dice. I'm not interested in completing challenges to capture 15 of my opponent's pips or whatever. It interrupts the game so I hope they get rid of it. Otherwise, fun game. In this version, both dice are thrown first by the computer. If the computer rolls a six on the first die, the challenger cannot get the first turn. If the computer first rolls a two, then the computer has a good chance for acey deucey but the challenger has no chance. I’m at level 42 and I’ve had to modify my style of play many times in order to keep winning. At the early levels, winning a dozen games in a row was possible. Those days are long gone! I won’t give away what the software is doing to make the game more difficult each time you progress to a new level (you will eventually figure it out). And u can undo as many times as u want and as far back into the game as u want (at least when ur playing against the computer). ✓ Simply fine backgammon!I’ve been playing Backgammon with this app for years now. I find it is easy to use, and it does all that I really need it to do. It lists your rankings amongst a few sub groups, which is nice. I don’t know how they would fix it, but it’s annoying when you’re just about to win with a gammon, or better yet a Backgammon, when the opponent forfeits the game, giving up fewer points. ✓ BackgammonThe game used to be more fun and even a little addictive, the Medieval board is my favorite, my one caveat is the randomness glitch, I'm not convinced of the randomness of the roll of the dice; since the last upgrade the throw of the dice is decidedly one sided. What seemed fairly random before has become predictable. If the computer needs it you can almost call what will turn up. On the other hand if you need something it will roll anything but until the computer is safely out of harms way. I gave it 4 stars because it does not seem to be based on pure chance. When the AI wins the first roll 19 times in a row or four sets of double sixes in a row, I don't think you could call it purely by chance. I have seen some people complaining about the “luck” of the computer opponent without thinking that it is not the programming, but the random generator of their own smartphone CPU. They also do not question when they roll doubles twice in a row - they only complain when their opponent does. The “Hard” setting is still quite easy to beat on a consistent basis, however is challenging enough for a relaxed gameplay. ✓ Best backgammon game onlineI’ve tried them all, and while no one has the version of Acey Ducey that I play in Chicago (you get all your piece home, and have to roll the exact number to pick them off, opposed to moving them in) it’s a still a great game. Imagine getting all your pieces home, and you have no piece on a six, and you keep rolling sixes, and your opponent sneaks up on you and wins the game with exact rolls. UGH. I think the computer cheats once in awhile to get ahead, but still the best backgammon App online. I think it’s called American Acey Ducey. I've played it for YEARS, first on my old desktop computer, then my smartphone as well as iPad. It's provided countless hours of entertainment while waiting for dr appts, during sleepless nights, riding public transportation, and whenever I need a stress reliever. I'm not a backgammon pro; I don't play this expecting to be challenged in a difficult way nor do play just so I can win every time. While some seem to provide great detail and in-depth reviews regarding the technical aspect, I just know what I like. For many years, through many upgrades, I've enjoyed this particular game of backgammon by the app developer. As the saying goes, don't fix what ain't broke! ✓ App has a bad bug - still not fixed!I love this app, and have played literally hundreds of games against the computer. Unfortunately after a couple of games, an unwanted graphic appears in the wrong place on the screen of my iPad, (the pip scores), making the game unplayable. The only solution is to delete the app and reinstall, but it happens again after only a short time. It’s a pity this can’t be fixed as I like to keep track of my wins and they are deleted each time I re-install. It is however the very best backgammon app apart from this problem!.Version: 4.6.5

There are times that the computer has an option, but does not use. For example, the roll may be a 6 and a 5. The computer may only move 5 and say no other rolls available. ✓ This review is ONLY about playing against the computer.I have been an avid backgammon player for over 10 years. I gave up online playing because of the droppers. I now play only with this app or with humans. So this review in only for the backgammon software. I play daily. After playing enough, the outcome of the game gets pretty predictable and the computer's strategy becomes obvious: if you are winning too much, the dice your wings, but not so much as to become silly. But, if you double early in the game, this will not happen. This is just an example. As a computer scientist this made the game more fun, not less. Every software has regularities, like every human has biasses. Discovering them and using them to win is the real fun. This holds for any game. If you want to beat Messi at soccer, you need to try and find his systematic weaknesses. I gave you 4 stars because only simpletons fall for the 5-star reviews. ✓ A frustrating turn of events!Initially a very good version but after the latest update had become a very frustrating situation. All of a sudden the computer scored an unrealistic amount of doubles and a statistically impossible roles when necessary. Altogether this is not very enjoyable anymore as you compete in an unequal situation. I had a series of games where the scores were just not statistically possible and this has continued. What the makers of this game need to change is the strategy, not messing up the idea of random roles which has obviously happened. Spend some time writing the software so it works properly or don't bother. It was my favourite game up until now but unless things change I won't be keeping it!.Version: 4.5.8
