✓ Nice Game, But Biased Toward AINice visuals, and accurately responsive to touch. But...As other users have said, on the "Easy" level (the only one I have tried thus far), the proportion of doubles rolled by the AI far exceeds chance, given the proportion rolled by the player. I don't have to be a statistician (although I am one) to know that, if these dice rolls are random, there is a very, very slim likelihood of the AI getting 10 doubles in three games, when I rolled only 2. Is it mathematically *possible*? Of course it is. So is winning the lottery ten times in a row or getting hit by asteroids...multiple times. But given the other comments along this line, the data overwhelmingly suggest a strong bias in favor of the house. To have this bias so blatant at the "Easy" level rather defeats the purpose of an "Easy" level, and would be annoying at all levels. I am an experienced backgammon player and have won enough "real life" games that I'm not whining because I lost a few. I just don't like a blatantly stacked deck! I hope that the developer will adjust the algorithm to give players *on average, across games* as many doubles as the AI receives..Version: 4.5.1

✓ Be warned, the computer cheatsI always knew the computer got favorable rolls but I wasn’t sure until I tracked it. In the last game I played, the computer rolled doubles 12 times, while I only rolled doubles 3 times. During the game, acey deuecy, the computer rolled the acey deuecy combo fives times, while I never rolled it once. It’s nearly impossible to beat that. UPDATE: the computer cheating was bad before, now it is impossible to beat. The last game Of Acey Duecy, it rolled 2/1 five times in a row to win the game. No way that happens in real game play. 2021 Update: this game cheats more than a politician. You’ll be ahead and then the computer rolls doubles again and again and again, until it finally beats you. ✓ Loved it until…I loved this game. I especially loved the fact that I could play with friends! But for some reason my board is now all askew. The game pieces do NOT line up in the center of the space where it is on the board. VERY FRUSTRATING! I have deleted the game a few times hoping this would fix it, but no. ✓ Too easy and Dislike New Challenge InterfaceI play this game a lot on the most difficult setting. But, during the end game, the app plays for position instead of maximizing removal of pieces. After mine and the app's pieces have past each other and there is no chance of hitting an opponents piece, I may have all my pieces in home and removing them while the app stacks pieces outside of home slowing it's chance to remove pieces. Another poor strategy the app uses is when all its pieces are home, if the dice roll doesn't allow removing two pieces, it make stack pieces on already occupied points instead of covering open points encase the point number is rolled later. I dislike the the new challenge interface. I don't care about the points accumulation. I tried the game that uses the points and was bored by it. I want a setting option to turn off the challenges..Version: 4.5.1
✓ Newest update killed online playingThis app was never great to begin with (maybe three stars on a good day for the variety of boards) as it constantly crashed and notifications for turns were not sent or were sent when there was no turn to play. I kept playing simply because I had already paid for it and it was one of the few games that would allow me to pick my online opponent. My sister and I live across the country from each other so this was a way to continue our regular games. The newest update has killed our ability to play each other. When sending an invite to her it either times out before I can even roll or if one does go through it tells her I forfeited when she opens the game. Guess it’s time to us to find an app that can actually be used for something other than losing to an unusually high double rolling AI..Version: 4.5.7
✓ Some Challenge - Some QuirksFinally a game that is fun to play because it doesn’t has less predictable patterns, can be fast-paced if you are ready, and is challenging at the Hard level. Just like other backgammon sites, though, it makes harder levels by giving the computer almost all doubles when you play against it, which feels frustrating after a while. I still play it regularly, so I’m giving it 4 stars, but I’d prefer to give it a 3.5. I love playing backgammon on my phone!.Version: 4.6.6
✓ Give it a miss….Extremely unhappy with this game, hoped for strategic and challenging games but far too often I am easily able to predict the next rolls of opponents and the computer prior to me finalising my moves, and wayyyyyyyy too many doubles to be believable, especially at opportunistic moments. Opponents play like kids, just bouncing you every roll they can, with no actual strategy or thought put into their moves. Gets very boring very quickly.Version: 4.6.5
✓ Graphics issue on M1 iPadI’ve used this game for quite a few years. It plays pretty well and I’ve enjoyed it. Some people claim the AI cheats, but I’ve seen that same criticism leveled at just about every backgammon app ever. That said, I recently upgraded to a M1 iPad Air and the graphics went completely wonky. The pieces no longer overlay correctly with the board; they’re shifted out from center toward the sides, with the misalignment increasing the closer you get to the sides. It’s far enough off that it’s difficult to tell where you’re moving the piece. Also, the doubling die has disappeared completely. And less important, the board flipped left to right, but I see from the screenshots that’s how it’s supposed to look, so I have no idea why it was the opposite on my previous two iPads. I deleted the app and reinstalled, but nothing changed. I see that for some reason the developer has three backgammon apps on the store. I’d be willing to purchase a different one, but they all look like they’re basically the same and were all updated at the same time (11 months ago, prior to the M1 iPad), so I don’t have faith that they don’t all share this graphics issue. I’ll probably just try an app from another developer. Note: Tried reporting this through the Apple developer channel, but it claims I don’t have the app. Not sure what that’s about, but it led me to post this in public. ✓ It’s riggedUsually this game works as it should but occasionally it will go into “rigged” mode whereby it will continuously generate the most preposterous sequence of rolls. I am a pro level player and understand that sometimes you can have a run of bad luck - this is most definitely not that. I have been trying to figure out what is going on with this game and have deleted , then reinstalled a few times. I now know this “rigged” mode only begins after I leave a poor review. I know this all sounds far fetched and nearly made me question my sanity! Fortunately I know another pro level backgammon player who agreed to watch the game for a while and sure enough it went into this rigged mode after a short period. ✓ Biased diceThe central flaw with this game is the biased dice, especially on the hard level where the computer invariably throw the dice it needs when it needs it. In contrast, the computer does not maximise its opportunities on the medium level. A happy and interesting compromise would be a program where the computer played its best backgammon but the dice was random. ✓ Love game, hate that you cannot turn off GameCenterI don’t know if this is an apple thing or an app specific thing, but since updating my phone I cannot play this game without it constantly begging me sign into GameCenter. I have no interest in doing that, I just want to pick and play some backgammon at random moments. I had nearly 4000 games (mostly Nackgammon and Acey Deucy, which I loved) but after spending an hour tonight turning GC on/off, blocking its permissions - the only time is stops hounding me is when I sign in to GC, and leave it on. ✓ The app needs workI just purchased iPad Pro 2020 and this game is not like before, the coordination of where the round piece that gets move is all out of wack. You need to fix the visual for the latest ios for iPads. Whomever designed this did not know how to play backgammon. The Computer moves even at the hardest level is amateurish at best. Also, after one opponent house is all filled up and the other opponent can not make any move until the other opponent opens his house, there should be no dice throwing from the other opponent until the winning opponent opens a space. Any dice throwing for the losing opponent is moot. In real play time he does not throw dice until there is opening. ✓ Why only single point multiplayer games?This game’s functionality is fine. I’ve only played AI medium so far and it seemed pretty easy as it made many dumb moves, for example taking my pieces in the AI home zone and leaving multiple pieces open. I just don’t understand why the only option to play multiplayer is one point. That’s like what you play against a six year old child. Need the doubling cube and multipoint matches to make it interesting. One point games bore me and favor luck over longer term strategy. ✓ FrustratingThis is possibly the most frustrating game on my phone. I have been playing this for years - first the free then the paid app. But it is getting worse and worse. It constantly cheats! When I am trying to make a move, the app decides where I can go even when I choose somewhere else. It moves the second counter to its own desired space. It often won’t let me move my second dice. ✓ Latest update is flawed!Having played this game daily for many years, it’s disappointing to find the latest update has a huge bug. The screen to select an online opponent is almost off the screen and the click button only works if you click a specific part of it. ✓ Love this game!I’ve tried a few different Backgammon Apps and this one is the best. Keeps me busy during winter and evenings. I’ve been a backgammon fan since the ‘80s. It plays best on my iPad Pro…..on my iPad mini it displays out of alignment. I restarted and also tried uninstall and reinstall but it’s still wonky. And it’s the paid version. ✓ AddictingI really enjoy this game and having the option to play different versions and different levels. I soon learned that easy and medium were too easy for me but I enjoy the hard levels. All over great program. Update: After playing and enjoying this game for years it has recently been displaying a board where the pieces do not align properly on my iPad. ✓ Decent but buggyCrashes for me now and then, and has weird bugs when searching for online players. It allows online players to leave and not move when they get frustrated, so I either have to forfeit or wait a crazy amount of time. Also, the dice roll outcome algorithm is hilarious- to the developers. Over and over in a scenario where only one combo can hurt me (5.56% probability) it rolls exactly that. I thought the probability complaints in the reviews were silly until I experienced it, over and over. ✓ Disappointing, here’s why.I was happy to pay the three dollars to not have to deal with advertisements. That also allows you options that you will not get in the free games available online. There are three levels: easy, medium and hard. I have a pretty good grasp of the game and a fairly good amount of experience at playing it, especially the last three years and my skills have gotten considerably better over time. I would say that the medium level is fairly accurate in terms of the challenge and the AI ability. However, at the hard level it seems pretty clear that what makes it hard is that the AI frequently gets doubles when rolling the dice; far more often than the player and definitely more often than when it is said that the medium level of difficulty. I was not hasty coming to this decision, rather I played many games and observed what was happening. Getting doubles does not equate to skill. The win to lose ratio at the hard level is simply ludicrous, especially when compared to the other backgammon games online set on the difficult level. I get skill. I get luck. I deleted the game. If you’re just learning it may be fine and if you have moderate to medium skills you will definitely be fairly challenged but playing it at the “hard“ level is very unrealistic for the reason I pointed out here. ✓ MehAcey-Deucey is the only game I play and I’ve played it in real life for decades. Although this version helps to pass the time, it is not as challenging and definitely fixed so the game wins. Oh and 9/10 of the time the game will win the first roll, so know that. It also tends to get 2-3 acey deucey’s in a row quite often, but an Undo or two fixes that. The rule I grew up with, playing this game, is that you must have the dice roll match where your pieces are on the last segment of the board; if you roll a 2 & 4 and you don’t have pieces in those spots, you can’t move and lose your turn. ✓ Great version but defective!I bought this game a while ago and it has worked great for me and I play it often! Today it had an update which I did. My program stopped working! Figuring I could re-download it, I deleted it. Unfortunately it wants me to pay for it all over again! Sadly this means I won't be playing it anymore, because I refused to pay twice for this product! ✓ Good but frustratingAs many have said here prior, the game is fun and a great way to pass some downtime, but the AI is set up to get doubles and knock you to the bar far more often than happens in a live game. The “hard” setting to me doesn’t seem to indicate it will use better strategy, it just means it will hit doubles a statistically high amount of times. I’m here writing this because I just finished a game where I was 20 pips ahead with both in our homes and it rolled 3 doubles in a row to beat me. Very frustrating. ✓ Dice Rolls Are Not RandomI play a lot in the online mode and it’s very apparent that the dice rolls are not random. Sometimes they are in my favor and other times in the opponents favor. It’s just not realistic that one player rolls doubles 10 times in a single game and the other doesn’t roll a double even once. I’ll be playing someone who is clearly new to the game and it seems the game compensates by favoring that newbie. I’ve noticed that the better my online rank, the more it seems to be handicapping my game. It really takes the fun out of it. ✓ IPad Pro game board no longer fitsThis game is a 5 but since getting an iPad Pro the game board does not display properly and the outer edges overlap so you cannot see the counters. ✓ Enjoyable GameThis is a good app of backgammon if you enjoy playing against computer. I quickly went to the Hard level as the Easy and Medium levels missed obvious moves or made moves that didn't make sense. On the Hard level the game is more realistic. ✓ Nice game, but dice rolls are NEVER randomI've been playing on the most difficult setting and noticed that regardless of the dice roll setting, I can often count on rolling doubles if one of my pieces has been captured. It will always be a double roll that won't get my piece back in play. I too frequently roll doubles when I have one piece left on the board, too. So it seems a nice way for the author to cheat and yet make the roll statistics appear fair - let the player roll doubles when it won't do him any good. I can also count on me rolling something that forces me to place my pieces in jeopardy followed by the computer rolling something that will let it capture the newly exposed piece. The game design is very nice. The interface is very good. It's just a shame that the only way the author can keep the computer competitive is to cheat the dice rolls. ✓ Game weighted heavily in favour of computer!I used to love this premium game but the odds are unquestionably stacked heavily against you when playing an AI opponent. Four out of every five “random” opening dice rolls go in favour of the opponent. When they “double”they almost invariably through doubles to your disadvantage... EVERY TIME. Such a shame. ✓ WAS a great backgammon programI’ve been playing this game every day for 3 - 4 years. I was very pleased with the program. It was part of my daily routine. Usually had a dozen games going at once with real people in the multiplayer mode. I could play for a while, then leave in the middle of games and come back later to pick up where I left off ... until this past weekend! It looks like the developers decided to change things. I had 11 games going with several people and now there’s no way to get back to them, they’re gone. It appears that the only way to play someone is in real time. And if you leave before completing the game, there’s no way to come back later and finish ... it’s gone. And you can no longer “Undo” a move before submitting it because the “Undo” button has been removed. Unless the developers are in the middle of a redesign and will be restoring some of the former features, what was once a great backgammon program has, in my opinion, gone down in flames. Oh, the reason I give it even 1 star is because they added the option to “ Chat” with an opponent ... and you can still play with the computer. PLEASE bring back the former version. Computer doubles based on pips count only and will offer you the dice even in dire positions. ✓ Too much built in luckI reviewed this game a couple of years ago and gave it a five. This time I gave it a three. While it still presents a challenge in perhaps two games out of ten, the other eight are so lopsided as to be a waste of time. This revised version suffers from an extreme case of “primitis extremus”. That is it suffers from the developer’s ambition to create six-point primes however and whenever he can, especially at the bar point or home board, which occurs in 80% of the games. I figure that as the player I’m good for a six-point prime once in every 25 to 30 games on average, Do the math. The developer has so skewed the algorithm that he has taken the fun out of the game, and that's a pity because it used to be the best backgammon app of all..Version: 4.5.6
✓ Bad dice generatorThis game is fine if you’re a beginner or only want to play occassionaly. But if you play a lot or know what you’re doing this game gets very frustrating, very quickly. I’ve play quite a few backgammon apps and this is very typical in having a terrible dice rolls both playing against the computer or another player. When playing against the computer it doesn’t bother with standard tactics it’s simply gives good or bad rolls. When playing against another person it seems to give you a game or two with good rolls the gives your opponent a game or two the good rolls..Version: 4.5.7
✓ BackgammonI love backgammon and will continue to plat this version until something better comes along. I find it frustrating that the game seizes in the middle of play, that multiple games have no corelation to one another in some sort of scoreboard and that there is no way to communicate with your playing partner. I think the touch screen is flimsy at best. If you come anywhere near the wrong point it will accept it and make a move ... Even when you are trying to change points from an original consideration. Frustrating at best..Version: 2.7.5
