I appreciate that adverts pay for a free game, and I assume I have a choice of upgrading or put up with adverts. But lately adverts have ruined the game on IPad. After nearly every roll of the dice you are forced to wait for an advert to finish. Not the 4 seconds it says, but up to 7 seconds. Guess what. ✓ Would love to give five stars...I would love to give this game 5 stars. However after the last update, the game will not load. I don’t like the orientation of play for regular backgammon in single player mode. I am accustomed to the play going right (home) to left (finish). In addition, I don’t like that you cannot make certain available plays. You are forced to make plays by the computer. I have, thus far, only encountered this while playing aces-deucey. I love that players have aces-deucey as an option! Unfortunately, I can’t play the game anymore after the last update! 😡. I tried deleting the app and re-installating it. ✓ RiggedThe computer nearly always wins the first roll. It nearly always has the perfect roll to cover its chips. If you have an open chip, it nearly always hits it. During take off... you may start ahead, but after the computer magically rolls doubles three times in a row you lose. Meanwhile the when your roll doubles it’s when your off the board and it just so happens those spaces are occupied. I have played skilled players in real life and have never seen dice change the laws of probability like this game does. Even though the probability of rolling a 3 is about 5.6 percent the player is “lucky” enough to consistently roll that number while the computer is rolling constant doubles. Whatever opening move you make, if you leave a man open the computer rolls exactly what it needs to take you off the board. The level adjustment doesn’t make the computer more skillful. It just makes the dice roll in its favor more often. Complete bs..Version: 4.5.8

✓ Ridiculous AdsThis version was fabulous until they started having pop up adds in the middle of a game. I don’t want to play online and can’t figure out how to make the ads go away via an upgrade. None of the other games I play have ads pop up in the middle of a game. Very very disappointing. A new issue is the ad “Newsletters.” After each of their ads, the discs on the backgammon board are so small that it impossible to continue playing without restarting my phone. ✓ Swamped with addsThe actual game is pretty good, though far to often the computer appears to get the perfect outcome from it’s dice roll. That said I have enjoyed playing this game for a year or so, then recently that all changed. The app is now swamped with adds, every three of four turns there is an add, some of which are quite lengthy. ✓ Not random rollingUpdate as this game is now so awful I’ve deleted it: I wrote the review some time so. Recently, the game has become almost unplayable. I understand free games need to carry adverts, but they always used to be between matches. Suddenly this has changed and ads now appear in the middle of a game it even as you are making a move. Click on the cross to remove the ad and either nothing happens or it changes to a different screen for the ad. It has ruined the program and made matches unbearable. I shall be deleting this ruined app. Original review At the hard level, the program awards itself far too many perfect rolls and doubles, and gets off the bar at the first or second attempt nearly every time, even when you have five points covered. The human player, meanwhile, usually gets stuck for up to ten rolls. That is not expert playing, that’s just fiddling the dice. At harder levels, the program should play with more intelligence, not just better rolls, and it proves the rolls are not random. As it is, the program does not play intelligently, and so despite the cheating, over a long match (say, first to 7 or 9 points) a decent human player will win at least 75% of the time. Consequently, this game is no real challenge and ultimately unsatisfying..Version: 4.6.5

✓ 30 Second ads before every game AFTER YOU PAY.First, The 30 second advertisements before every game are pure torture. Do not buy this app unless, like me, you can’t find a decent Acey Ducey app. By the way, this isn’t a decent Acey Ducey app even excluding the torturous advertising. That brings me to the second issue. If you play anything below “Hard”, you’ll get board fast. If you play the Hard level, the computer doesn’t make more intelligent moves, it simply gets 5-6 Acey Duceys each game to your 2ish. It also gets a ton of doubles and lastly, if you leave a single piece exposed, there’s a 90%+ that the computer will roll the number it needs to bump that piece. If you enjoy Acey Ducey, then like me, you have to deal with games like this and just hope that a company will produce a decent game soon. I hope this helps..Version: 4.5.6
✓ The AI is always superiorI downloaded this game for my dad and then even bought it to make the ad disappear. The star is really only for the outer and the two player mode. I do not understand what could have gone wrong with the algorithm that the computer wins 99% of all games, even if I set it to easy! Also, the AI ALWAYS really ALWAYS come out on the first try and I'm sure min 5x stupid and stupid dice every time is a proof that the dice are not accidentally thrown. Also, the AI every game min. 8-10x throws a Pasch and I have to hope for 1-2x is not really normal! I could throw the iPad against the wall after 5 minutes in the game so frustrating is this game. For me, It is fun to try and overcome this disadvantage. Update The higher you get in the levels the more blatantly the app cheats. ✓ Computer AdvantageI have played Backgammon for years, and the computer definitely has the advantage. It does not use strategy, it gets far better rolls of the dice in it’s favor, and makes the game less competitive and less fun. ✓ Only 4 stars for meLove the game. Reason for only 4 stars is this. When using the doubling cube, the choice is only agree or not agree. There should be another choice; to view the board again. I always want to review the board before making my choice. Sadly that is not an option at this time. I had another backgammon game on another phone where this was an option. Sadly I cannot find that app anywhere. Please update this fix, then this will be five stars! Additionally there is one ad in particular that causes the pieces to shrink to the size of a pin dot. ✓ AI isn’t smart, it’s biasedI have been trying to find a backgammon app that has truly random dice rolls combined with an AI that can play the game like a consummate professional. So far I have found that developers cannot separate the two and in medium to high level difficulties the strategy and tactics of a great player are instead replaced with incredibly weighted odds on the dice rolls. The AI gets at lease 4-5 doubles per game usually above a dice value of three, whereas might get one double usually a one. I feel if the AI offers to double a game, it’s just asking you whether you’d like to forfeit now or lose in impossible odds later. This app has done nothing different from other apps and so far it seems that one of the oldest games in the world has yet to be successfully modernized..Version: 4.5.8
✓ Pleasant enough diversion but may have an issue with random dice generator.Simply fun but after playing single player/ computer for perhaps 100 games on hard. I decided that the dice are not really randomly generated but must have some kind of algorithm that generates the dice combinations. In the last to games that I just played I had the the computer opponent blocked in an 2 in the hole while I was taking pips off and then the computer dice rolled double 6 twice, double 4 once and a double 3 to win. In my last 3 of 4 rolls I rolled an ace and a deuce. I guess it is possible but I do not think the it is likely to occurs in the practical universe.Version: 4.5.9

✓ Mostly solid but annoyingI’ve used this game for quite a while and I generally like it, but there are some annoyances. First up, I’ve noticed a bug in the current version where the game pieces become incredibly small to the point of being barely visible. This usually happens after a few times playing. Killing the app and restarting fixes it. This is a fairly new problem and the app has otherwise been solid. Second, be aware that the game cheats. The dice are rigged. This is what immediately obvious from the opening roll where the game wins a hugely disproportionate amount of the time. It also happens during game play. Backgammon can be frustrating enough without this. At the moment I’m using the free ad based version. The reason I haven’t upgraded to the full non ad version is because the ads are annoying. I won’t buy a product that is intentionally annoying. There are two aspects to this. If I don’t want a product, making me sit through an extended ad for it isn’t going to change my mind. Annoying ads are why people buy ad blockers. When are advertisers going to clue in to this? The second and in my mind unforgivable act is that on several occasions I have been forcefully exited from the app and dumped into the App Store, presumably to buy the annoyingly advertised product. ✓ BackgammonI have been playing backgammon with this app for a few years and used to really enjoy it. Some time ago the checkers started sitting partially on some of the points. It has gotten so bad that now the checkers don't sit completely on all the points except for the 6 point and the ones on the 13 point are not even on the board. It makes it almost impossible to know where the checkers are on the board. Between this and the fact that after just about every play there is an ad I am about ready to look for a different backgammon game and get rid of this one..Version: 4.6.6

✓ It’s Backgammon......and it works. I love the environment, sound effects, manner of computer showing move available when touching a pip option, and the fast-pace. BUT... the computer wins 98% of the first rolls, and most all computer rolls are advantageous always to the computer. You can rest assured that if you ever leave a pip open, the computer WILL knock it off! PERIOD! The computer rolls doubles ad nauseum while I rarely receive any, and when I do.... it is when I’m trying to get a knocked off pip back into game play and the doubles I roll are for spots blocked in the computer’s home field. The computer makes “bad moves” and always gets away with it! In a live game with actual people and dice, the game would never be won making such strategically bad moves, but alas... the computer always WINS! I wish the game was more random in dice rolls and favored the computer LESS! I would give the app a 5+ stars rating otherwise. I’m giving it a 4 only for those things first mentioned. As far as satisfaction in game play, it is more of a 2! ADDENDUM: Haven’t played this game in months. ✓ Quietly doing my head in!Backgammon is a great game, board lay out is good etc but there are a few really irritating things like the advertising! If you can't pay to stop it the least they could let you do is mute it. I keep turning my ringer off and forgetting to switch it back on, so I'm missing calls. Also to make it difficult they rig the dice. I hardly ever win the roll to see who starts and you can practically predict when the computer will get a double, particularly in the last stages of the game when you have two counters left and the computer has four! ✓ Owed …What is very annoying is when the person you are playing with realizes they are loosing, and instead of quitting, they stop throwing the dice, in the hope you get fed-up with waiting for them to carry on. They just stop making a move, instead the auto move makes a move for them and that takes ages until the game is over. Also, another annoying thing is when you want to start a game, the other person keep denying to start, and over and over again, you get the same person denying. If they want to deny a game, why even are they showing up to play ! Another annoying thing is when the whole game freezes, and the only way to work is to delete the app and re-instal the app. By doing this, you loose your score and have to start all over again with your score. It annoys me to no end when people who are loosing, stop throwing the dice and let the computer take over. They just stop playing, but do not admit defeat. So if the “winner” stops at that point because the looser has stopped throwing dice, then the “winner” actually losses the game which is very unfair. Please put a stop to this practice. Another thing that bothers me is when an advert freezes and nothing you do gets rid of the freeze. You have to delete your backgammon and re-instal it again in order to make the game work again. Hence you get rid of the score each time you do that. It annoys me to no end when someone you are playing with realizes they are loosing, and therefore they just stop rolling the dice..Version: 4.6.6

Too many times the computer rolls just the right number to knock me off the board as am taking the lead or many doubles near the end of the game. ✓ Greedy and buggyFor the most part the game seems to work properly and I’ve used it for quite some time now. But there are times where the pieces turn into slivers, and the only way to fix it is to restart the game. The second thing is that this company is tremendously greedy and at the end of every game you have a commercial that takes 5 to 7 seconds versus those that you can just click on to get passed. It would be fine if it was held at the end of every match but to have it at the end of every game is ridiculous. I don't like it when I make a move into a slot and it's moved to the next row. At least be consistent, if unsure. I can't redo my move if you do it. ✓ Too many ads and too much computer favoritismI’m over it. It was fun for a while. The computer will bump your disk 98% of the time. If you bump the computer’s disk, it will get out on the first try 9/10 times. The computer gets multiple doubles per round and perfect rolls, while you are stuck on the bar until all the computers disk are either safe or in home base. Add to this frustration with near constant ads. It’s so favorable to the computer it’s ridiculous, no fun and a waste of time, unless you love frustration and non stop ads. ✓ Good game but too many issuesThe best part of the app is also the worst part of the app, the multiplayer feature. That’s because it has so many connection problems that it is now almost unplayable. I’d say 40% of games cut out halfway through before the latest update, and now about 90% lose connection. This is also a problem because when it loses connection you have to wait 30-60 seconds of buffering for it to say connection lost. The adverts are a minimum 30 seconds long so sometimes you get connected to someone, they wait and end up cancelling the game in the time you are watching an advert. It would also be nice if people weren’t allowed to forfeit for a single point if you are about to win a double or treble..Version: 4.5.9
✓ UnfairI have played this version for several weeks now. One would expect on the balance of probability that you would win the opening roll 50% of the time. No such luck - around 20%. Also the computer 90% of the time rolls the optimum roll - unbelievable and unrealistic. I would have thought that the developers would have installed a random number generator for the rolls. Another thing - how can you have game settings of easy, medium and hard? Just because you are a good player doesn’t mean you always get the throws you want - but the computer does. ✓ You can live with itI have gone through a series of games and found this one to be the best of a bad bunch. It misses a good number of options that make it slicker. Weaknesses: it is programmed to deal with the higher roll first. You can get around it by forcing it to do the lower number but it is irritating. I have put it on a fast move and I have noticed that sometimes it can play for you. I also won a double and it only calculated a single game. ✓ Crashes every time (update of update)Have yet to complete a game without a crash. In other words, have yet to complete a game period. Also, have to hold the board upside down to get home board correctly oriented (you should be casting off men from the board on your side, not the opposite side). The ads have like 4 pages to them and you have to wait so many seconds per page for the X to pop up to skip. Game play is favored to the computer. They get doubles a lot, if you’re winning then you roll 1’s & 2’s & the computer gets 5’s & 6’s. ✓ Too many adsThe game is fine, not the best I’ve used. The ads are constantly popping up mid game, they are aggressive and won’t let you escape ( even when completed). I downloaded this game about 40 minutes ago on my iPad and had to shut down the iPad and restart twice to get rid of ads that won’t leave or let you return to playing. This is just B..s.. ✓ Decent but computer dice are riggedFirstly, it bombards you with advertisements on the free version. Somewhat expected with a free to play game but it’s a bit out of hand. Secondly, the computer dice are rigged. While playing on hardest level the computers dice will roll whatever it needs to make up for inadequate AI. For instance the computer needs to roll 4 or a 2 to get its piece back and a 6 to hit me, it will roll it almost every time. The actual odds are only 11% but since the AI isn’t smart enough to consistently beat a good player it will out roll you by increasing its odds of rolling what it needs. In some respects, this game feels more real than other apps in that it gives you more time to see your opponents moves. I only play against programs because human opponents are not sufficiently available. I come to this program because the previously used app was discontinued online gaming. Unfortunately, I now have similar experiences with this app. There are very often situations where the app seems to suddenly be actively playing (via the dice) and "punishing" mistakes or inaccuracies. That's what I say, because I made these "mistakes" on purpose for "testing purposes". It is so clearly weighted toward "the house" that it becomes annoying quickly, even though I love playing backgammon. the computer gets an unbelievable amount of doubles in a row, a highly statistically unlikely amount of doubles. And the computer gets just exactly what it needs so often that there's no way it's an accident. And the computer will almost always win the opening roll. There is a definite bias towards the opponent in rolling doubles, in hitting unprotected pips, and in dice numbers that consistently protect the opponent. A 90% hit rate is not statistically possible, yet it happens without fail. Rolling double sixes multiples of times at the end of the game also consistently occurs to assure the computer wins In addition the graphics routinely lose their integrity and the pips are displayed as tiny specks. The user is required to restart the game to correct the graphic. The game itself freezes up for no apparent reason, and there are instances when it will not allow you to make a move that disadvantages the computer. It’s like playing checkers with your dad… openly cheats in front of you but you can’t do anything about it. I like playing backgammon but am annoyed that this game isn’t programmed for fair play. ✓ Dice Roll is RiggedFirst, when I play my family, we roll doubles to decide who goes first, at least once a night (if not multiple times) yet after playing for a few months, it hasn’t happened once. Second, the number of times the dice rolls the ONLY available spot for the computer to get on the board vs the number of times I am able to roll that when there are multiple spots available.... are ASTOUNDING! Third, I have been denied available moves randomly but every single time to the computer’s benefit. I literally just rolled a 3 and a 5. I was able to move 3 spots but would have knocked out the opponent and was unable to manually select it. I even reread rules to see if I was wrong. I wasn’t. Fourth, I wrote a review asking for strategic competition that isn’t dice related but never got a response. There is no other way to give feedback that I have found like with other game apps. Suddenly things shifted to where it seemed like the dice were loaded. Rolled the perfect dice majority of times when I had the board pretty well locked up.
