✓ Asynchronous multi-player removed!Ever since the last update, the asynchronous way of playing multiplayer was removed. Before, I’d have ~20 games going at the same time, and my opponents and I would play our turns when convenient, casually. Now, it’s fully synchronous. I have to be present for the entire game until it’s done. I also no longer have a way to see the history of recent multiplayer games. Would like the option to play synchronously or asynchronously, and to keep a history of past games. For a long time, this was my go-to casual game. This new version is a big step backwards. :(.Version: 3.1.3
✓ Fun but buggyThis is a fun game. I had never played Spite and Malice prior to downloading this app. Couple observations ... Sometimes the selected difficulty level makes no difference. At times , I can win more on Hard than I can on Easy mode. I have noticed a pattern to the card deals. It's not random and also not true to the game which is only played with two decks. I Play multiplayer a lot, and sometimes I will have 5-10s for instance in my pile, and my opponent may have another five. It doesn't add up. And, speaking of multiplayer.. SO BUGGY. Lots of freezes, notices that your opponent left the game and if you switch to another app momentarily to respond to a text for example, your game is toast. Last night I played approx 10 rounds with a friend, six of those ended due to freezes or pop up alerts saying your opponent left the game. Additionally, I cannot accept invitations to play. When I click them, nothing happens. Please fix the multiplayer/network issues and I'll update my review..Version: 2.13.5

✓ Spite & MaliceThis game is very addicting. However, after playing it multiple, multiple times, I realized that each of the four levels get harder with multiple playing. All the levels are challenging but the easy should stay easy. The medium should stay medium, etc., etc. I noticed that the cards dealt are NOT random. There is a definite pattern in the cards played. When you don’t win for a while, you get easy hands. And when you do win a few, all the sudden, your hands get so difficult, there is no way to win even if you are on easy mode. I can win more often on Spiteful mode in those instances. I would have have given a definite 5 stars if they started dealing the cards in a random mode. I feel they are dealing spitefully (pun intended). UPDATE: This past week, I have had to hard reboot my iPad Pro after every play or three. This is very annoying as I play in multiple player mode a lot. I get notifications every few minutes or so but when I go to play, the board is either frozen or it’s says to sign in to Game Center, which I can’t without doing a hard reboot to my system. I love playing but may have to quit if this is not fixed. I think it started after the latest update to my system, 11.4.1. Please fix..Version: 2.13.5

✓ The AIs constantly make the most amateur errors - even spiteful levelIt’s a fun game, but after 100 rounds of paid spiteful level, i’ve grown tired of it’s bad play. could you please have it stop making stupid errors? * it seems to lack defensive moves, and frequently sets me up, even when i’m about to go out * it wastes wildcards to empty hand even if a strategic blunder * even the Spiteful level. developer did not respond to my email about it. sometimes the ai becomes very slow or seemingly unresponsive. the only solution is to close app and restart. in case this helps you debug problem- i’ve noticed that even after restart, if you resume the game, it’s still very slow or non responsive.Version: 3.1.6
✓ Poor algorithms, buggy multiplayerOk, there aren’t really any alternatives at the moment for spite and malice. It crashes a lot if you play other people online which is really annoying. The algorithm for the hardest setting is really poor, so you can game it and they want a load more money for “spiteful” which is on a permanent sale, but why should I buy it when it’s probably as bad as the other algorithms. Developers should stop being greedy and sort this app out....Version: 2.13.5
✓ Multiplayer Never WorksBefore GameCenter was removed this app worked really well with very few problems connecting with friends - it was one of my favorite multiplayer games. Ever since Game Center was removed, no update has fixed the ability for me to connect and play with anyone (peer to peer OR turned based) who also have the app. Multiplayer has continued to not work when I upgraded phones, with a clean install (did not restore from a backup). Also doesn’t make a difference if I uninstall and reinstall the app. It will however show notifications of invites on the app, but will not allow me connect to the game(s)... which is charming. My husband, who has a different phone than I, has the same exact problems..Version: 2.13.5

✓ Deteriorating quality...I love the concept of the game and used to love the app but so many glitches have made it impossible to use. ✓ Great game before last updateI hate to give 1 star to a game I’ve enjoyed playing for years (this game has given my 87 year old grandma something to look forward to each day), but I want to make sure this report reaches the devs (since I haven’t received any response to the message I left on the support site). As of the update last week, the turn-based multiplayer mode is no longer available. This removal doesn’t appear to be intended (not mentioned in the patch notes), and from other recent reviews I can see I’m not the only one who used this mode exclusively in order to play with friends/relatives one turn at a time throughout the day. I’ll change my review to 5 stars as soon as this bug is fixed (or if it is intended that the turn based multiplayer mode is no longer supported, please mention that in the patch notes so we know not to hold out hope, and I can give my grandma the bad news..).Version: 3.1.5
✓ Need to be able to take back a cardFar to often a card drops where you don’t want it and there is no way to pick it back up. The runs the computer gets are ridiculous and annoying. The update of being able to “level” up, there is absolutely no reason to, no reward of any kind. Getting like an extra turn card or such would make it worthwhile. Plays well and smooth, just wish I could leave the sound on but turn off the clapping or “Awwwww” at the end of a game..Version: 2.13.3
✓ Update created MORE bugsI’ve had this app for many years now and it’s consistently been great...until this latest update. In Multiplayer when you click on the settings icon on the bottom left of screen, then click Main Menu, it asks if you want to Forfeit. I tried the Forfeit button to see if they were switched, but that’s not the case. Additionally when I click on Multiplayer from the main screen it searches for a player online, rather than bring me to the Multiplayer screen that shows all current (and former) games. I tried to create a new game with a friend and when I added her it seemed to be waiting for her to join before creating the game (I remember a few years ago this was an issue). ✓ Used to be great but....I spent (wasted) many a long hour playing this, mainly v the computer, but sadly it has become too easy and predictable, taking the fun away. The new spiteful level has come along and I can’t help but wonder whether what I have paid for previously has been taken away only to be repackaged and sold to me again. ✓ Bug fixes - very spitefulMy daughter bought me this game and we have been playing for years until a week ago. I had a number of games being played with friends and they all disappeared. ✓ What’s happened to ‘turn-based’ games?Have loved playing this game with my mum over lockdown, and since the update 5 days ago we can’t continue. No option to start games or to continue the ones we were in the middle of. Very disappointing for a game we both paid money for in order to be able to play against each other. ✓ When it works... it’s great!This is a cute app and the game is fun but my goodness you’d think an app that you pay for would be able to at least connect to another player if it’s multiplayer. Constant disconnects- about a 1 in 5 chance of game actually starting. SO frustrating. Really not worth the cost. Love the idea of reaching out to play with friends far away, but we end up troubleshooting on the phone for 30 min- about a card game - instead. ✓ Great Until UpdateMy grandma is almost 90 years old and lives by herself 9 hours away from me. We play a card game everyday to help us stay connected. I talk on the phone with her at least once a week I but this was my way of checking in with her daily. I know she’s ok if she still plays a hand each day. Since the update, starting a game hasn’t worked. We’ll have to find a new game to play together if this isn’t fixed soon. It’s really sad cause this was a bonding experience between the two of us. ✓ Please update!I paid for this game years ago but you guys have failed to keep it up to date. Heaven forbid you have to do something outside of the app whilst in the middle of a multiplayer game and it completely crashes and you lose your game. Also the game visual settings are very very very dated looking... yikes! I’ve also lost my stats for the umpteenth time so I have no clue where I stand with anything not that it really matters. I also wish it kept stats of each specific multiplayer. This is the only game my Italian family and I play together across the country but the lack of care you’ve given to this game makes it difficult. ✓ Games not viewableI sent this message a few times. Just now it says I dont have/haven’t paid for this game. Yes I have. At least 3 years ago. Have never seen my review posted. Do you pick and choose negative reviews? It could be remedied by updating or just telling players the game can be very problematic for some. We wouldn’t expect anything for something we paid for. I sent the following several months ago and didn’t hear anything back so doubt I’ll see any response or improvement this time in a game I paid for. This really was a very fun card game. Grew up playing spite card game. It had been a 10 but I would give this game a zero now if I could. Have enjoyed it for the few years since downloading it. But all I can do now is start games playing with device, no friends. Can’t view them. No Turn-Based, Pass and Play or Peer to Peer anymore. Don’t waste your money. Is “Help” is the usual customer no service? Emails aren’t returned. Would love if it can be fixed and it’ll be a 5 star game again. ✓ Spite and MaliceI really enjoy the game a lot, it’s quite addictive. However the reason I’m only giving it three stars is because the game freezes up on me and it’s quite disappointing when that happens in the middle of the game. It happens a lot! ✓ Nice graphics and gameplay, computer is terrible even at the hard levelEDIT: Came back to this game after a few years. AI still doesn’t play well at all. Still makes all the same mistakes. They have a new level for $10 that supposed to be even harder. I’m not risking $10 for what may turn out to be another crappy AI. I am not the worlds expert at Spite and Malice, but I won six games in a row at the hard level and none of them were even close. The computer makes awful decisions and doesn't seem to have any real strategy. It will often play just enough cards to let me play from my stack. It will frequently play to the board before taking off from its stack. The game looks nice, although it doesn't play by all the same rules as I remember playing. If they ever come out with an update that improves the computer play, I will be glad to update this review. Until then, I would advise giving this one a pass. This company had a version of Cribbage that is pretty good. Try that one instead..Version: 2.13.5
✓ Lacks the feel of natural playI’ve played this for a few years now and this isn’t a bad version by any means. That said it has the feel of a simulation versus a natural playing game with a natural deal. The more you play the more you notice scenarios in which the game logic behaves in ways to increase excitement or punish a player for moves the AI consider incorrect. In it’s natural form this is a game that depends heavily on the luck of the draw; there are times were you will do everything right and lose and other times when you’ll make a lot of mistakes and win. All of this built around a natural deal which in my opinion this game lacks as AI difficulty seems to be set via giving the computer ability a real opponent would not have which ruins the fun for purists..Version: 3.1.6

✓ Playing against computer is a jokeThe game is great 2 player as for playing against the computer, the game is fun but has some definite issues for serious players. The computer will miss playing off its stack. The computer will sometimes “help” when they could block you out of their discard pile. The rating of easy middle hard spiteful is a joke. ✓ Freezes and you'll eventually get frustratedGame is glitchy with half games played on player vs player freezes and/or disconnects. You may think it's the players quitting whom are getting beat, possible, but there's an easy "forfeit" option to choose from. However, it'll freeze even when I'm getting beat, so why would the other player quit? You'll experience a fun game but after a while the AI gets boring and with the frustration on live games freezing up on u, you do the same I did and delete. DO NOT buy the game once you've downloaded. There are constant ad pitches with limited time offer discounts. Well, I guess you can buy if you want, but, why do it when you'll experience lots of freezes and no updates in 2 1/2 years? No wonder it's buggy..Version: 2.13.5
✓ Problems… what happened?Update… since this morning, my friends and relatives cannot play. They have updated, deleted, reinstalled and nothing. We have all paid also.. Been playing this game since I was a teen.... Over 40 years. So glad that you made this app! Update looks good. Less times to restart and less lost games. Original card game though had 26 cards in deck. Update Nov 2020... do not like that with the new IPhone update; I lost all my data as I had to delete and reinstall the app!!! ✓ Malice aforethought ...Took me a while to cotton on how to play, but hey am loving it.. great game. Hundreds of games later have downrated it. Why, at Level 10 Daily Goal, "leave 15 unplayed cards in opponents pile." The cards mount up and slip under each other so total amount of cards cannot left cannot be counted. Also glitches like the board freezing. Think I'll light the blue touch paper and retire!.Version: 2.13.2
