✓ Has it’s ups and downsI do like this app as can see where my husband and I spend our money and keep tabs. Also Credit cards we have added this as an account. What I don’t like is that we can’t connect our bank accounts to it as our banks are not on the list of banks nor our credit card company. ✓ BALANCE Way offThe Balance is wrong. I don’t sync with my bank so it’s not a syncing problem, and I entered all my receipts and checked against everything on my bank statement. So it’s literally the Calculator part-the most important part obviously- of the app that’s defective. Also, unlike all other budget apps I’ve tried, the expense list doesn’t even show the payees!-you have to tap on the transaction to open it to see who the payee was. So you can’t just glance at the list to see what you’ve already entered. I spent so much time entering data into this app before discovering the balance was incorrect. ✓ Loss of featuresI’ve been using this app for many many years. But recently while setting up any reoccurring income or expenses I noticed it is not possible to set the end date to infinite OR have bills and income generate in the future. So now I’ve got a whole page of Netflix payments that I have to scroll down past to view current expenses. It makes the app very frustrating to use. I would not recommend this app to anyone at this time for this reason. I’m checking, and hoping, every day to see this super simple and obvious feature return. But now I think I will start to look at other financing apps instead as it’s been weeks since I noticed the lack of this feature. I have tried to reach out to the company that makes this app, but I have not heard back from them about why they would they remove this from their app. I know it used to be possible because I have reoccurring bills and income that ARE set up this way. ✓ Wished I didn’t buy the desktop versionI’m so annoyed with this app on my phone and desktop. Every time I go to use it on my desktop I have to send initial data from my phone to my Mac. Things hardly sync up correctly, I see duplicate account names or transactions categorized as multiple category when it is not. And now I just deleted an account with its data because I deleted a duplicate account that had no transaction data thinking it was a duplicate and looked on my phone and the real account is now deleted. I’ve had this app for my phone for so many years and it did the job but now it seems so antiquated that it’s pretty useless. 2 stars because it’s good if you like basic, I rather give it just 1 star..Jmy303Version: 3.4.1

✓ Recurring Items Needs ImprovementHome Budget works great for my wife and I except for 2 major sources of frustration: 1. Recurring expenses, income and transfers are device dependent, and only update/sync when you open the app on the device that entered them. I never know if I’m looking at current data, because my wife and I have entered recurring items on 4 dif devices (2 iPads and 2 iPhones) unless I remind my wife to open the app on both her devices first. Also, when upgrading to a new phone or iPad, any recurring entries entered on that device get lost. 2. If I find an error in an expense that I spread over 6 or 12 months, I have to individually delete each monthly entry and then re-enter the expense. Only 2 years of recurring expense and income can be saved, it is not convenient for things such as salary and related tax and expenses. Other apps has features such as 3D Touch for quick entries and regular updates with new features. ✓ Good, but some functionality missingI like this app. The budget feature is very handy and replaces my need for a spreadsheet. Expense and income tracking easy to use. A couple of missing functions, that I find important, are missing, preventing HomeBudget from getting five stars: - No way (that I can find) to track spending on a credit card without creating a budget for it and therefore adding to the total budget available. There needs to be a way to add expenses on a credit card account without adding/subtracting from the available budget - No way (that I can find) to track interest rates on a loan or savings (negative or positive) without creating an expense or income. - No way (that I can find) to move an amount from one budget to another. ✓ Great app but no new features for several years....I’ve been using this app since at least 2012. It’s very simple, easy and convenient to track your expenses and salary income, set budgets per expense and create new expense categories. On the negative side, and in order of priority, 1. There is no way to move and expense type from one category to another. For example, I have the “Restaurant” expense sub-category under the category “Personal Expenses” and I want to move it under a new category “Entertainment”. I can’t do this. I did email the app owners for this feature a few years ago and was told it would be available in an upcoming release. Unfortunately this is not the case. 2. The backup feature in this day and age should be an automatic sync (e.g. once per day) into the Cloud. If you accidentally delete the app you’ve only lost a day’s worth of input. Ad-hoc, Manual file-based backup to email is a bit 2010. 3. In general no new features or GUI updates in several years. ✓ Data stuck in the app, can't export itI've use this app for more than two years to manage my finances and it's been amazing. BUT now it won't let me generate PDFs to email myself and I have no way to export my data so it's all stuck on the app so now it's pretty much useless. Only now do I see they haven't updated the app in 9mo. customer support is not helping and they're pussyfooting around not doing anything and acting like they don't know what I'm talking about even though I've sent them Screenshots three times. ✓ Great but without innovation in more than 10 years.I have used the app for more than TEN years, and I must to say it has been useful, but at the same time I must to say that during all these years it has been the same app without any improvement, not even a better user interface; the same icons, by the way you can’t use customised icons in two different devices, not even after recover a backup; the same reports; the same old-fashion way to search a spend; you can’t change the category of a spend; you can’t customise your summarise; you can’t customise your dashboard; the files you can export are useful, but they have some issues with jump lines and some special characters (due the language you use) so the final file has to be cleaned before to use it; after more than ten years they only have the manual in English, first red flag to know their lack of interest to open the app to the rest of the world..MarvinnetVersion: 3.6.4

✓ Was great in the beginning, but get something else.The was a fantastic app that I have had for so long that I even forgot when I started (over 10 years ago). I liked its cross-platform capability, and great auto-categorising features to have full control over budgeting forecast. I purchased the app for all my devices and made great use of the in-depth features available for the desktop and quick glance and referencing on my mobile devices. However, over the years Anishu started to neglect fixing bugs and now I can no longer use my desktop app, it is just too slow respond and freezes too often. Requests sent to Anishu seem to be ignored now. I do not recommend getting this app now, since it appears to be at the end of its lifecycle..Chad ArbaumVersion: 3.6.4

✓ Good overallGood overall but some recurring deposits do not automatically get included as they used to do. On their faq pages it says that you must use the same device that you set up the recurring deposit with. Except, I am. So what then? No answers for that. Other people too have reported theirs also having this function stopping working, but sadly no fix. This makes it a tedious chore to have to enter them each time. ✓ Goodbye after 2 yearsThis has been my go-to expense app for over 2 years, but when I recently restored my phone to discover HomeBudget was a blank slate, I was reminded of two things: (a) HomeBudget doesn’t leverage iCloud for backups, and (b) its Dropbox backup settings had mysteriously reverted from Daily to Never, meaning the past 6 months of data are now gone. Using Dropbox to backup app data is a fine if ersatz way to go, but not defaulting those settings to daily is completely incomprehensible to me. Why would anyone *not* want daily backups of a data payload that is so miniscule? It begs the question why the developers didn’t just implement iCloud backup in the first place. Set it and forget it. So, I’ve had enough. Goodbye Home Budget. And hello to Money Pro. An app which has stayed with the times, leverages all the iOS hooks properly, and even has some nice predictive AI to streamline the expense entering process. ✓ Terrible AppThis app is horrible for syncing purposes. My husband and I use this app to manage our budget, and it never ever syncs to my phone. I have manually pushed the sync button, we have sent the initial data to my phone multiple times and it works for about 1 day then no longer syncs again. We have tried everything to make it sync to my phone correctly so I have accurate data and it works only temporarily and then goes back to no longer syncing and we have to start from scratch all over again. Don’t waste your time with this app, especially if you use it with multiple devices or multiple people because it won’t ever sync up and your information will never be accurate..Annoyed13!Version: 3.5.1

✓ Too frustrating!I’ve tried to make this my go to app for a long time now but I give up. You can only make a recurring bill come up for (I think) a 2 year period then it drops off your monthly bills due without notice. I hate that every month I have to go back and check the previous month to see if all my bills are accounted for. Also, I have tried numerous times to set my rent as recurring monthly; it works for the current month then will not automatically show up for any other months. What’s the point? ✓ Recurring transfer making it less ideal of an app to useIn the recurring transfers section on the HomeBudget app it no longer has an option for no end date and when I put a recurring transfer in it automatically takes the money out of the account for the amount of time I want the recurring transfer to take place. Example: I want $50 transferred each month for two years so $1200 was transferred right now instead of each month. This makes it so the recurring transfer option no longer is something I can use. ✓ Absolutely InfuriatingIf you close an account and want to remove it from view, you can’t. You just get a warning message telling you to deactivate the account in settings. Whatever. That warning message only has an “Ok” button to dismiss it !!! That deleted the account and ALL transactions for that account. If you try to restore from a daily Dropbox backup, it doesn’t reinstate the deleted account!! What’s the point of having a backup if it doesn’t put you back to where you were at that point in time?
