Air for Negative User Reviews

Close but not quiteAs someone who enjoys using Bloom quite a lot I was slightly let down by this app. In short, it doesn't feel like you have as much control and versatility compared to Bloom, and whilst it does indeed sound very "Eno-ish", I wasn't thrilled with the quality of the samples either. One for the ambient diehards, perhaps..Version: 0

Good, but Bloom is more interesting...Love the sounds and the 'Airiness' it has. However it's not as interactive as Bloom visually or in control. One definite oversight is how the app stops playing audio as soon as the iPhone is locked. Bloom continues to play where this app just halts the audio with a quick stop (no fade). Still not bad for a 1.0 app..Version: 0

Air does not BloomWhile the sound of voice an intrumentation is superb for Air the user friendlies ae just not up to the mark of Bloom. Partcularly in "Compose" the playback does not go into loop so you are stuck with your brilliant peice that is played only the once! Bloom is wonderful buy that instead..Version: 0

Worth $0Wow. I have bloom & trope. Unlike those there's no changing shapes and sound range seems much more limited. These people are getting greedy. Eno apparently did not work on this himself like other 2 mentioned & it shows. Extremely lame 4 $2! save you money.Version: 0

Garbage... Don't waste your money!I loved "Bloom" so I got this in hopes it would be just as good... Boy, was I wrong. This is a quick thrown-together app in attempt to make extra cash. They got me, but hopefully they won't get you too!.Version: 0

It's "meh", as IGN would say.It sounds majestic, but it hasn't got that "air" (ha, ha) that Bloom (and Trope, to a lesser extent) have. Maybe try and make it more free and less bounded..Version: 0

IdkThis app is a bit simple compared to bloom and trope, and sometimes the sounds don't work on my iPod. This makes me frustrated, and I'm kind disappointed with my purchase, I love bloom and trope but this one just isn't as good..Version: 0

Time to updateThe screen looks awful. Please update!.Version: 1.3

App brokenFor some reason, app only displays 3 triangles. I didnt update ios so i dont know what the deal is....Version: 1.2

No soundMakes no sound on 3gs. Please fix.Version: 0

Not enough variationUnfortunately I had high hopes for this app. I doesnt have enough variation. I was surprised by how soon I would hear a similar musical phrasing. It is actually kind of repetitive..Version: 1.2

Another abandoned AppThis App like several others ENO + collaborators released aren't maintained and are 32-bit apps. When iOS 11 is released they'll quit working which is sad..Version: 1.3

Disappointed!!This app frustrated me so much ive just deleted it and wont be re-installing it. im all for relaxing music and tunes etc and when i saw the option to listen to the piano i thought it was going to be good.. but it plays 2 notes, literally every 30 secs and everything inbetween is silence! the speed bar does nothing to the gap between notes and i get bored waiting for the next 2 to come along..Version: 0

Fix neededI love these apps and will look forward to giving five stars when the create mode is fixed..Version: 1.2

Loved Bloom, hated thisIn listen mode, it's monotonous, even by Ambient standards. In create mode, your options are extremely limited, with essentially 3 low piano, 3 high piano, 3 high voice, and 3 low voice samples to choose from, based on the interface (which is a series of 12 triangles on the screen). No wonder listen mode is so monotonous. I suppose that this may appeal to minimalist ambient fanatics, but this is probably getting delted off my phone before the week is out. I feel like I wasted my money..Version: 0

Not as good as Bloom or TropeI don't dislike this app, and I think at $2 it is a nice cheap music generator. That said, even at $2, I would not reccommend it to anyone, except maybe an avid Eno fan. Bloom and Trope offer a similar, and in most ways better, expirience. The main thing I do like about this app, however, is the addition of voice. While this app has a lot of potential, it needs some major improvements to be as good as Bloom and Trope. The first thing I noticed was the uninspired "playing" screen. It looks very crude & pixilated and the lack of change over the course of it playing is boring. There are a few interface options that need to be added as well. #1- Need to add the ability to control the volume of the piano and the voice seperately. #2- I agree with other reviewers that there should be an option to put the screen to "sleep" in listen mode. #3- There needs to better control over the speed of notes in listen mode. What would be nice is seperate controls for the piano and voice so you could have them each play at the speed you want..Version: 0

WillTerrible doesn't work and didn't do what it said in the description however I dis get a good nights sleep.Version: 0

Prepare to lose interest in minutesNice idea but seems very limited. I think this app should have been free, at least until they work out how to make it more variable. Feels like you have explored all the possibilities in minutes..Version: 0

Broken Broken BrokenAlthough I would think multitasking would be a natural ( ~Listen~ yes?)...it no longer displays properly, and I cannot use it to accompany live poetry readings anymore. POOH CUBED.Version: 1.2

Boring and annoyingI expected the amazingly beautiful complexity of Eno's mind and instead got a limited, uninspired app. Impossible to create anything exciting. Zero capability for innovation. Two sounds, no effects. Spend your dough on Trope or Bloom. Appropriately titled, this app delivers little more than...Air..Version: 0

Self-generatingMight not have found the option... but I couldn't find the generative aspect of the app. It seems to require continuous interaction?.Version: 0

Bloom and Trope are betterLess variety in pitches. The piano sound is always one pitch followed by a fifth lower. Limits the variety. And the screen is static. Eno, who isn't on the credits for this app, should pull it from the Store until Air gets improved..Version: 1.2

Where's the Oxygen?Kind of limited and banal, though, ironically, it did feel like a pick-me-up, even when you're left wondering when a more innovative sound will extrude..Version: 1.3

BrokenThis is my favorite of Eno's generative apps when it works. However, it no longer displays properly with the latest OS. I hope it's fixed soon. I paid good money for this not too long ago..Version: 1.2

Permit sleep mode playing, then…We need to be able to put the machine to sleep and still listen to the sounds, however compelling the visuals might be. !.Version: 0

Lovely.If you love bloom, you'll love this. I'm quite chilled now..Version: 0

I wish it workedMaybe i'm just an idiot, but the volume slider is missing (the white background is there) and apparently it has a permanent volume of zero..Version: 0

Not so Hot AirLoved Bloom and Trope, but this is really poor. Frustrating and limited. No scope for creativity. I would guess Eno didn't want his name on this one. Don't waste your money on thus half formed idea..Version: 1.2

HmmGreat sounds, and reminiscent of "Airports". but in ios8 the note speed setting is invisible. Mine is now stuck playing one note and then going to silence. This badly needs a refresh.Version: 1.3

Not greatReally nice idea, but as the other reviews say there's just not enough options.Version: 0

Too simple.I want my two bucks back..Version: 0

ThanksIf you love bloom and trope, you might like this. My request is that new apps like this use zen mandala's for their shapes, hang drum samples and a bed of udu drum rhythms. This would be a great combination for music therapy purposes, treatment for PTSD and anxiety..Version: 0

Fun butFun instrument but only piano works on my iPhone :(.Version: 0

Not BloomThis app is not half as cool as bloom. I am a big fan of bloom. This app is not that innovative and not very beautiful. Also needs to play after screen lock. Please fix it..Version: 0

Not really an iPad appYou have to use the lame pixel doubler. Deleted. Drone FX is infinitely better IMHO..Version: 1.3

Good app, but could be betterFor starters, I’m not so sure if it’s appropriate for me to give a three-star review to this App, since it does all it’s promised, and for people who are fans of ambient music - myself included - it’s more than satisfactory for the price. But for musicians and producers, there are some lacking elements, and indicting for that may not be fair given that the Eno apps aren’t explicitly made for their purposes. Air was the cheapest of those, and because I couldn’t find any technical specs, I gambled and gave it a shot for the price in hopes that I would be able to tell whether I could use the others, and unfortunately, it falls short for producers for a couple of reasons. The first is lack of IAA or AuV3 support. With one or both of these elements, there would be no doubt of a five-star rating because it would mean that the live sounds could be patched through the universe of iOS effects available in real-time, ensuring the ultimate sonic experience. But the second issue is that - as far as I can tell - there is no way of capturing the sound other than patching it live to a recording device, which is awkward and needless given the state of recording apps today. Mind you, I stress: the Eno apps are not expressly for those purposes, but I don’t think it would be much of a stretch to add those features. For those music-makers who do seek ambience-creating apps with IAA support, try Moodscaper, Guitarscaper, Pianoscaper, and Cosm (they don’t work with Audiobus as of this writing; you will need AUM, but you will still be able to patch through FX and record)..Version: 2.0

Quite disappointingNothing earthshaking here. Just feels like a rehash of bloom but unfortunately without giving any real control to keep a musician interested for any more than a few minutes. Attractive interface though, I think it could do a lot more. More note options? Sliding between pads? Reverb/sustain control? Split screen to control seperate voices? I hope it doesn't stay as it is, otherwise I have wasted my money.Version: 0

Intuitive, but limitedIt would be very cool app, but the number of playing options is really very limited. Extra 2 more samples and extra 3 more sliders for manipulation would make a massive difference. Interface very accessible tho..Version: 0

Stick with bloomYuch, bloom is so much more and so much better..Version: 0

Not working with iOS5Please fix!!!.Version: 1.2

Not bad but not greatLack of samples and sliders makes music very repetative very quickly. What is here is smooth and interface is good just after 10 mins it's all the same. Could be good with developer updates and more options..Version: 0

Very well designedMusic lovers defenetly go for it. An option to record certain combinations would be great. Love the harmony it generates.Version: 0
