Scape for Negative User Reviews

Interesting but not sure of the point!Clever "music" generator but you have to really love synthesised music to enjoy this. Everything I created sounded the same to me and giving each tune a name like Brian did doesn't help!.Version: 1.0.1

Current version CRASHES!I love this app! It's easy to play around with and if you want to make more sophisticated music, you can spend the time creatively. I particularly like making multiple scapes with slight differences and putting them all in the same playlist. Problem is, it's stopped working! One question? Is there a way of naming the scapes and playlists in the same way as the Eno/Chilvers album is? If not, is that a future possibility?.Version: 1.0.1

Love it but it needs moreDitto to what others have requested and I would like a regenerative aspect added as several minutes for a scape is too short. Is not really compatible with background play as it frequently loses the unsaved scape when a work is in progress. I like the "potential" of the app..Version: 1.0.1

Great app but wish you could export/recordLove this app - the sounds are gorgeous and it's very easy to use. I wish you could export or record the sounds to wav or mp3 file though, it's kind of misleading that the description says you can email it to people, you're emailing a composition that launches in the app, not an exported file. Aside from this though, it's a great app..Version: 1.0.1

Playback Issues...Sounds are wonderful and intuitive. Lots of options for different ranges simply based on pads and shapes. Though just created my first scape, and was disappointed that playback was not even close to what I originally recorded. Seems as if the playback (after taking a snapshot) is based on an amalgamation of where I left off as opposed to a defined structure. Am I missing something? Is there an invisible record button (hoping so!). But for this significant issue, this would certainly be a 5 star review..Version: 1.0.1

Bit of a "black box"......but nice enough generative sounds. As other reviewers have mentioned, it might be nice to know what's going on behind the scenes but perhaps that would destroy the mystery! Sounds like source material from Eno's many installation works, combined with 88 Million Paintings and Bloom. Definitely blurs the line between album, app and installation art... P.S. I had to uninstall and then reinstall this app when I upgraded to iOS7. Since then, I have lost all my Scapes and all the additional "instrument" features - it would be nice to have the option of reinstating them rather than having to start all over again.Version: 1.0.1

Needs more explanationHow to edit a scape? Where are support options? Who can I ask for help? This seems like a very interesting app, but needs mor explanation..Version: 1.0.1

Not worth itI was surprised at how bad the graphics are, it's like something badly designed in the 80s. The actual difference between each of the sounds is very limited, I didn't feel I was adding much to it each time I added something. Overall not at all worth it, you're better off getting a free ambient app..Version: 1.0.1

A little stale...Same bank of cheesy new age sounds that have been around since late 80s... and graphics to match. If that's what you're looking for, then you'll love this. Almost no control over the evolution of the 'scape' and documentation is completely absent. Overall, the music and visuals seem to be stuck in another decade.. kinda like that person you know who looked in the mirror 25 years ago and said, "ahh...there's my look" and never moved on. I know this is a little harsh. Obviously a ton of work and thought went into it. But, if I were an artist on the receiving end of such a review, I'd find it helpful..Version: 1.1

Cool with some shortcomingsI've been playing with this for three days. I have to say it is quite original and fun to see how the music comes alive. However, there are some fundamental things missing. 1. Ability to edit your scapes after they have been created 2. Ability to rename the scapes 3. Name a playlist 4. Some way to access more elements. All my scapes were sounding the same after an hour or so. 5. Would be cool to have a WAV or MP3 output 6. Some clue as to the affect of elements based on where they are placed in the scape space 7. Maybe a wave editor to draw a random wave Overall I like the app a lot, I just wish it had some of the more basic editing and naming functions that every app in the world has..Version: 1.0.1

Cool app…butThis is a cool app, but like most, there is no way to use what you create. I have several music style apps and all seem to be dead end apps. I was hoping for the option to save as a aiff or wave…or at least an mp3. This would be a great app to use for background music for videos I shoot. I can do the mini jack out, but mini's are not the best option for recording! M.Version: 1.0.1

Nothing exceptionalI was disappointed with this app as I did expected more from Eno. Yes, it's Eno style cybernetic elements which can be used to construct cybernetic soundscapes, but it sounds like pieces Eno didn't want for any other project and so donated these scraps. It's like his heart wasn't in the project. The artwork is very poor and makes for a ghastly, silly interface. Overpriced and under delivered..Version: 1.0.1

More limited than expectedLike many, I've been enjoying Eno's music for decades. Bloom remains an app I use regularly. Scape is fine but I find myself wanting more variety. The Engadget video shows a larger palette on either side of the development screen than I get in the app, which shows a similar palette to the one shown in the App Store entry. Maybe these will appear in an upgrade or in-app purchase. Till then I'll be sticking with Bloom I think..Version: 1.0.1

ScapeHow the hell do you use it? Doesn't say. Guess i am just not intuitive enough. Boo! Hoo! Waaaa!!.Version: 1.0.1

DO YOU JUST IGNOR US AFTER WE PURCHASE THIS APP?OK, let me say that I love this app. I have had Scape for sometime now. I would really like to have reporting capabilities to GarageBand, and other recording apps so I can build songs. Scape can be great as a stand alone, but having the option to add more voices would really bring Scape up to the next level. I appreciate the new soundstage you add, all that is left now is making Scape AUDIO BUS compliant. Why is it not when so many apps are already? Pleas add this feature ASAP! A sure 5 STAR THEN! Thank you. BC AUDIO BUS THIS PLEASE, PLEASE, AUDIO BUS THIS NOW! We need it on the bus! NEBBENNY.Version: 1.0.1

Is it me? Keeps freezing upI think I downloaded a lemon....freezes up in the introduction mode and it won't let me bypass the introduction mode. Also, yes, this is rather sleepy-time music...so boring!!! I'm sorry but I am not impressed with what I've seen so far which isn't much but app won't let me beyond the intro.....Version: 1.0.1

Nice interactive sound scape makerIf you like ambient music, and you like to play with sounds, this app is a good one to add to your collection. Please, Brian Eno, add Airplay so that I can beam the music to my nicer speakers!.Version: 1.0.1

Needs more dev TLCNeeds ability to name songs and playlists. Would like ability to tweak chord progression as current one is too eerie. Would recommend if those were fixed, not so much without..Version: 1.0.1

A must have with lots of room for improvement.I have downgraded my previous 5-star rating after having had some with this app. I love the music and the creation parts even more than before. But. The inability to leave the music playing in the background is contrary to everything Ambient music should be and Brian Eno has publicly stood for. Pease let me turn off my iPad and enjoy the music. I don't want to fiddle with this when I could kick back and enjoy. - Big Eno and Ambient fan here. This app is a lot of great things. If you are a fan of Eno or of Ambient, you must get this. Eno has a great track record of collaborative work. Now he collaborates with you. It's a weird a great feeling when you listen to a composition that you feel yours and unique but at the same time pure Brian Eno. The musical side was nailed perfect. The graphics are horrible, though. A refresh would be welcome. And you cannot leave the app or turn off your iPad and leave the track playing. Didn't ambient have to be ignorable, according to Eno himself? Please fix this..Version: 1.0.1

Thanks, but...no.It was a great app when it worked on my older iPad 2. With the updates, it's no longer compatible. I really enjoyed the app, too..Version: 1.2

BugWorked fine for ages. Absolutely great up but now it closes when I try to open it sometimes and always freezes when I try to listen to playlists..Version: 1.0.1

No app developmentThat’s the thorn..Version: 1.1

Be Warned!I agree with Dshutton45 above. Maybe we just don't get it? Suffice to say that if this App had opened with a Free taster, I would certainly not have paid for the full version. I simply find it dreary and boring to listen to, and see little logic in the method of supposedly creating one's own sensational pieces. In summary, yes, I can live without it. A very disappointing App that should be presented with a Free sample before buying, for the uninitiated - like me!.Version: 1.0.1

Don't bother unless you're Eno blind fanWorst $6 I've ever spent. There are way cheaper and way better apps to create ambient sounds. Unless you are Eno's fan and MUST hear everything he creates....Version: 1.0.1

CrashesApp crashes on start..Version: 1.0

?Am I missing something here?, everything sounds almost the same, just like mood music.Version: 1.0.1

Crashes on iPad pro 10.4 after latest iOS updateUnusable.Version: 1.2

Doesn’t do what it saysIt says in the description that this app generates random scapes which is the main reason why I purchased it, because I wanted to listen to random scapes with little or no input from myself. However there doesn’t appear to be any option for this in the app despite looking everywhere. It’s a good app but the description is misleading hence the 3 stars..Version: 1.2

Graphics?!I've been a fan of Eno ever since I found out about him. His music, his approach, philosophy, career... basically, he's the man. I didn't think twice about buying this after hearing of its release. I will enjoy exploring what it can do... Just one gripe... The graphics! It looks rubbish, like it's been made with the first edition of MacPaint..Version: 1.0.1
