Trope for Negative User Reviews

Not happyWhy is this listed as a iPad app it clearly is for iPhone feel like I was just ripped off to be honest. Low res graphics and well just not cool to sell this as a ipad app.Version: 1.0.1

TropeWas very disappointed: I expected a lot more of this app which seems surprisingly uncreative and has little stickability..Version: 0

Just not responsive...It's similar to Bloom to be sure, but there is little feedback when u select the notes, hard to tell what u r doing, little difference between create and listen. I like the new droning moods, but maybe too subtle, also hate the grafix, touch the screen and u get an array of spots, why not just a wash of watercolors?.Version: 0

Please read app makersI love the concept but trope needs more sensitivity to the touches we make. You can hardly hear the sounds when you touch the screen hard. This results in basically only the background being heard. Please boost the volume of our touches and also add more variety of sounds, thanks..Version: 1.2

WellWell it's okay I guess I kind of expected more out of a Brian Eno app-definitely needs more options like copy paste music file, there's no way to save anything you create also the sounds are all pretty similar, it's alright to sleep to but really needs a lot more options and some moods that are actually different..Version: 1.2

FrustratingAs a musician interested in the interactive possibilities of the iPod interface, I found this very disappointing, because of the lack of control. It's a bit "light" on any real interaction - frustrating and uncreative..Version: 0

Updated reviewFor some reason the App would update and was giving me errors about iOS 11 incompatible but a hard reset has now updated and it no longer complains.Version: 1.3

Not as good as BloomThis certainly has its merits - the ability to drag notes out and the graphics are an interesting representation of the sonic outcome. However, I would have preferred to have had more control over the parameters in terms of response and the generative function. It all seems a little too impressionistic, whereas in the case of Bloom the user had greater control of the process. Additionally, I really wish Eno would make some more visually pleasing video graphics as opposed to his current output which resembles a series of badly composed Power Point transitions..Version: 0

Doesn't workI don't understand what the fuss is about this app. Other than my first few moves, it seems programmed. Hmm, maybe I'm missing something. I'll check online to see if there are better instructions..Version: 1.2

Problem with updateSince updating I can only listen not create. Please could you address this?.Version: 1.3

Major flawDoes not run in the background or when iPad is in sleep mode, so pretty useless as an ambient app. Foolish..Version: 1.4

DissapointingA good idea but not much new from bloom- similar palette of sounds. It also can't really hold that much input. I say get bloom or air..Version: 0

Bloom PlusWhile I enjoy Bloom quite a bit, the app feels a little too similar in my opinion. And it would certainly be a LOT more enjoyable if I didn't have to deal with the randomly-generated tones infringing on my efforts. Let's see an update on this please... I'd like to create my own soundscapes!.Version: 0

Beautiful, but where's the variety?Dubbed as an infinite array of sonic combinations, this app leaves me a bit disappointed in the realm of sonic variation. I've yet to make this app produce anything but the sound of an out-of-tune piano being played slowly underwater. The visuals are impressive but not much more so than the average mp3 player visualization..Version: 0

Decent for some timeCould be much more representative of Eno's style of music creation. The tones are limited, there is no way to modify the attack of sounds or to make them last. Also there seems to be no way to switch off the random background noises that happen without the users control. Could be a great thing. I like the panning function where the sound is placed left or right depending on where on the screen you click. In Bloom it is much more intuitive to get used to the different moods (I understand they are just different modes of different keys as well as different colors). By 'get used to' I mean learning what each one actually changes and using it in combination with the echo in order to make interesting modulations and stuff of that nature. And there are 12 moods, like zodiac, that's cool. I feel like I have barely any control with Trope. Bloom is better for me in that respect, though I feel bloom is limited too. Cool stuff, but I'll stick to listening to Eno. Sorry but it just feels like Eno and Chilvers threw together a near interesting low grade simulation of ambient music that's prettier than it is usable and marketed it as four separate apps. That's genius I guess, and I'm gonna use it now that I spent the money on it. But for anyone looking for usability and playability, turn around and get something else. If you're looking to relax and help fall asleep, get this. Or just listen to Eno. Okay. That's it. I don't know if I said everything but that doesn't matter much. Goodbye..Version: 1.3

I don't get it.I'm a big fan of Bloom. I enjoy Air, though it's a bit simple. I just don't get Trope. I confess I don't find the music as interesting. I don't feel as in control of the sounds..Version: 0

Lovely app, lately afflicted by a bugTrope is, along with Bloom and Reflection, a wonderful collaboration between Brian Eno and Peter Chilvers, fusing Eno's ideas about "generative music" with the computing power and portability of iOS devices. Compared to Bloom, Trope is more flowing though perhaps a bit darker. Unfortunately, as of iOS 10 this app seems to have developed a bug that speeds up the sleep timer and may also affect playback. While I recommend all these Eno/Chilvers apps very strongly, I'd suggest waiting for this to be patched..Version: 1.3

Love it, but some problems with iOS6This is one of my favorite apps. However, I am having some trouble with this as well as Air and Bloom and how they work in iOS6 on my iPod Touch. The sleep timer, which I have never had a problem with, doesn't work correctly, and the app will stay on. Hopefully this bug can be squashed when the developers update it. This is such a wonderful app, and the sleep timer is necessary for me..Version: 1.2

Really not an appI liked it until I noticed that nothing I did really changed the annoying piano-synth sound. It's really just best to put it on Listen which is like auto and let Eno lull you to sleep. Indeed if you have trouble sleeping or want to waste your life this is the App for you. Worthless..Version: 0

Different, but I like Bloom betterMore trippy and fairly meditative, but Bloom gives more control to the operator. Trope has its place, but Bloom is still my favorite of this kind of app. There's room for both..Version: 0

Is the glitchy sound intentional?I've been using Trope for a few days, and agree with other reviewers about the disappointing lack of user control compared to Bloom, but I do like the ability to "draw" music by dragging out the notes/sounds. However, I have noticed that when playing Trope, my iPhone creates a static-like glitchy noise at the beginning of each note, especially short, single touch operations. While I sometimes like glitches in my electronic music, this aspect of Trope seems out of place, assuming it is deliberate, as it is too "samey". Has anyone else noticed this?.Version: 1.0.1

Great, would give 5 stars if only......there wasn't that damned repeating piano riff in the background. If I wanted that, i'd just play bloom. Please update this app w/o the background lead, it's so undermining of what the user can do. Think Eno!.Version: 0

Could be a great app......if it weren't for the self generating notes. User sounds are nice and very Eno-esque. But the self generating notes spoil any creativity and takes what could have been a cool instrument and turns it into more of a novelty/toy. Too bad. Fix the self generation or give an option to turn it off..Version: 1.0.1

Not very pretty on earsThe random pop up tones are louder then the other tones you can paint with or let play. If the pop up tones could be turned down and the other tones made louder this would help. Also, I think it would be great to have controll, in Bloom And Trone, over the drone tones that are always on..Version: 0

What?!Ok so I'm not Ross Geller from Friends, though I suspect the writers of the show could have had some fun with this app. While I enjoy a wide range of different types of music and sounds this app is just ridiculous to me. I never tried Bloom nor do I know Eno so I came in blind. 1 star for creativity, 1 star for making it through Apple's approval process. Can't recommend this to non ambience fanatics..Version: 0

Not as great as BloomNot as interactive as Bloom. Not able to play a melody or single notes :( thought it would be better..It's just missing something. Great ambiant sounds if you just want to listen to it..Version: 0

Time for an update.I agree with the reviewers comments about it's limitations. Feeling that its twenty-odd megabytes of iPhone memory that could be used for better things. I'd like to see a few of the ideas for improvements taken up by the developers..Version: 1.2
