Trope for Positive User Reviews

GraceThis is beauty ~ Brian Eno is genius for painting sound... Trope is my favorite of the Eno apps, and is the only reason I'm able to sleep most nights. I love it's Listen option and how you're able go set it to play for however long you'd like. (or let it run all night and see how it affects your dreams) It's simply mesmerizing, relaxing, and calms the mind. I recommend it for everyone. ~kaela m..Version: 1.2

ExcellentVery cool graphics. Only issue is a bug that changes line type back 2 default after I erase no matter which 1 I choose..Version: 0

Absolute chilled awesomeness! This was one of the first apps I bought when I got my very first iDevice and it still remains one of the most used and favorite apps I have downloaded. It's perfect for yoga or meditation, zoning out on a project, and just about anything else you need ambient background noise for. I just wish they would create a version for the Mac app store so I could have the wonderful beauty of this app on the much larger screen of my iMac..Version: 1.0.1

BeautifulSomewhat more weighty and textural than Bloom, I use this for background atmosphere, creative work, relaxation and travel. I find generative music absolutely fascinating and the guys who made this have done well. Beautiful..Version: 1.3

Amazing generative music app!Was uncertain since app hasn’t been updated in 3 years; however, it works fine on my iPad Pro with iOS 11. Having been a fan of Brian Eno in my youth, I enjoy creating and listening to these ethereal and calming tones. How to use: Draw several lines or dots with your finger, then wait for the song to develop; the music will follow the patterns you created. Also, the neon color flows and geometrics are beautiful to behold! Very relaxing and meditative, for those into this genre..Version: 1.3

Awesome!Hasn't been updated in forever - I love this app.Version: 1.3

Better than Bloom!I'm a huge Eno fan, so when I found out about Bloom I had to buy it, and that led me to Trope. Although Bloom may be more fun to play with than Trope, I find that Trope is better to listen to. It's easy to get it to play a slow, soothing pseudo-melody which is extremely relaxing. I don't think any of these apps are really off-the-charts outstanding, but this is a new way of making music and I'm impressed at how good it already is..Version: 0

I like Bloom slightly moreCool sustained sounds. Still trying to figure it out. I like Bloom's more piano-like soundscapes more.Version: 1.2

Love itWarm, therapeutic, adult play, and--why not kids? They'd love it even if attention span would keep it short. Opens creative doors--the simplicity and perhaps even limited or focused direction of these glorious Eno apps are an asset, not a limitation..Version: 1.3

ENOrmous!!!!An amazing app, probably the best music app there is. Creates music and soundscapes with incredible depth. Awesome!!.Version: 1.0.1

Discreet Music, 35 Years LaterBeautiful. I enjoyed Eno's 1975 vinyl LP "Discreet Music" very much. It was created using a long tape loop between two reel-to-reel recorders with the erase head covered up. This is the same concept, 35 years later, and the whole thing fits in your pocket. It would be interesting to include a user sound input option. Maybe that will be included in the iPad version..Version: 1.2

Love itI really wasn't sure at first. I didn't think it was working correctly; it seemed not to respond to all my actions. However I did start getting the hang of it after realising this app is more about swiping (as opposed to Bloom which is about tapping). This app generates beautifully relaxing music interactively. I was mesmerized for over 30 minutes on my first go. The visuals are as mesmerising as the audio. Really, I think I went into some kind of trance playing with this app. Love it thanks!.Version: 0

Buy it!Forget composing, just leave it on its generative setting and chill out.Version: 1.2

Brilliant as is to be expectedSuperb synthesis of sound and light. Please add a recording function..Version: 0

Perfect for drifting off to sleepWhile fans of ambient will no doubt love this app, as an Eno fan it holds an even more special place in my heart. No longer will I be stuck listening to the likes of The Shutov Assembly when falling asleep at night as Trope contains many of the base elements that make Eno's compositions so dreamy and compelling. This app, along with Air (and Bloom to a lesser extent) really capture the mood of various Eno recordings over the years. If you're a fan of any of the Ambient series, The Shutov Assembly, or Neroli you'll love this app..Version: 0

ISublimeLike a moody, moving Morris Louis painting with soundtrack, more complex than Bloom (and less prone to New Age noodlings). Worth the price just to see the colors it can produce. There should be many, many more apps this inapplicable, so to speak. Could be one of the last great gasps of Romantic Modernism. Yes, I did say that in an app review..Version: 0

Perfect work musicI poopoo-ed this app when I first bought it many years ago. The interaction element didn’t gel with me. Now that I’m working from home during the coronavirus lockdown, I’m finding it perfect for creating ambient mood music to help with focus. I just turn it, click Listen and the textures evolve by themselves..Version: 1.3

Very coolDefinatly need to use headphones or speakers. Another great interactive mood music app..Version: 0

TropeExcellent app if you like Brian Eno and ambient music then this is for you. Compose your own Eno track. The only down side to all his apps you cant save your work. Need to bring a version that you can do just that Brian. Would have got give stars but for the save function not included..Version: 1.2

Great (but)I really love this app. It's a totally logical extension of Brian Eno's ambient music theories and methodologies for the 21st century. In addition, I'm a lifelong insomniac and since I've been listening to this in bed, I've been falling asleep considerably faster than usual. (FWIW, I slept restlessly with it playing all night. The sleep timer came in handy.) My one significant complaint though: I read about Trope in the iPhone edition of the music mag The Wire. However, when I try to open the magazine (in Newsstand) while Trope is playing in the background, the mag shuts down the instant after it opens. Trope is the only app that causes the mag to do this. If I could read The Wire and listen to Trope as I go to sleep, I'd be REALLY happy..Version: 1.2

Don't let the negative reviews turn you offAt first, I was taken aback by the large number of negative reviews. These must be people who do not like ambient music because I found this to be a wonderful app. If you like Eno's "Thursday Afternoon" and other slow-moving works, this is perfect. I am glad I bought it. Eno fans who bought "Bloom" will be very pleased by this..Version: 0

Eno does it againEno's always been pushing the boundaries of what constitutes music and especially generative methods in music, probably first a major theme in his music for airports. Trope and Bloom (for "air" actually has nothing to do with him) are both absolutely fantastic, and I think that it's great that he's putting the music in the hands of the user, again an act of self-distancing from his creation.... something he seems to do a lot. Definitely buy these two apps..Version: 0

Amazing!Eno has been trying to do generative music for 30 years. This app is the realization of his vision. I listen to it through the stereo while doing random things during my day. The sound and parts are tremendous. It's as Eno intended it. Thanks, Brian!.Version: 1.2

Another touch of elegance from Eno/ChilversWhile many apps are interesting and effective, for me, not too many embody the concept of 'elegance'. This one does..Version: 1.3

Very niceIf you like Eno's ambient work I can't see how you would be disappointed by Bloom, Trope or Air. They are all winners and completely worth the meager price..Version: 0

Simply mind blowingEven if you are unaware of these artists, and perhaps have little interest in ambient music, the captative experience of illuminating your screen with delicate water colors that give way to subtle nuances of hums and drones will change your state of mind and actually put you in a better mood. Above all other applications that are supposed to make life simpler, this is something that we need more of. When you need to just relax, this is the best thing an iPhone can provide. Thank you Eno and Chilvers..Version: 0

WonderfulMy favorite of the three Eno apps. It allows you more control than the others, especially when holding a touch and dragging it about. Visually mesmerizing. Rich sound quality. A must have!.Version: 0

Unbelievable.Serenity, makes you feel like you are floating in deep space, past the planets and moons, the stars...Beautiful. You do not want to miss this. Perfect for meditation or insomnia..Version: 1.2

ItTake some time to immerse yourself in this app. There's a great deal of depth and nuance here even with the somewhat familiar themes. certainly well worth the price. If you enjoy ambient, self generating and perpetuating music this is for you. As another reviewer says a great compliment to Bloom. A different environment. Looking forward to more and perhaps some upgrades. Many Thanks to Eno and Chilvers for their introspective genius !!!.Version: 0

Great to listen toThis app is great to listen to, but like others have mentioned, lacks the control, or feeling of control that bloom had. I love the sounds. Nice work guys!.Version: 0

Wish it was available for iPad too...I love this app. There is a multitasking option, so the review that states the app won't "freeze" when closed is inaccurate. I just wish this app was available for iPad as well..Version: 1.2

Pioneering GeniusWhen Eno makes an app. You better listen. It doesn’t get any better for generative music than this one..Version: 1.3

SublimeYou need some space in your life. Some calm. Less bangs and crashes. More gentle flow. Trope provides this. It won't be for everyone. It's not Absolute Radio. But for those who need some peace this will do..Version: 1.2

So soothing...I let it develop for hours and hours, it keeps changing and is as interesting as it is ignorable....Version: 1.3

EnoIf you like Eno, you'll love it. Don't expect a drum kit..Version: 1.2

Very niceI am really discovering some nice results. Can we look forward to streaming to an airport express? The ability to listen on the home stereo and still have my phone close by would be Devine. Thank you..Version: 1.2

Random tonesPlease give us an option to remove those tones that pop in randomly. Otherwise the app is awesome..Version: 0

Very relaxingWhile other reviewers are correct that there is less control of the music produced with this app as compared with Bloom, I still prefer this app. The tones created are more sensuous and the sound is more seamless. I found it to be very relaxing and meditative. If you are a fan of Eno, especially his Ambient series, you will enjoy this app..Version: 0

BrilliantTrope enters you into an ambient darkness in which you become more and more in depth with. Thi is addicting yet satisfying, creative yet simple. A must have for any musician, artist, music lover or any app collector!.Version: 0

Works on iPadFor anybody that was misled by NAPSACK's review, iPhone apps can be loaded on your iPad. I have this app on both of my iPads, it is definitely a keeper..Version: 1.2

Nice Brian Eno in your pocket!.Version: 0

Brilliant!Though I've only seen demos of Bloom from online reviews, I suspect Trope is a far more intelligent and sophisticated generative music engine. The result is that it takes your input and reworks it endlessly if not literally, thus offering longevity and thematic variation. With its variety of tone, timbre, and mood, Trope is capable of producing real - truly beautiful - music either on its own or with input from you. Well done!.Version: 0

Better than BloomLove it. Thanks!.Version: 0

SplendidVisually intriguing, beautiful - and aurally engaging, spacious Longer tones than Bloom, and results look more - to me - like a moving painting Better than TV.Version: 1.0.1

Great!Thank you for the update to now support playing Trope in the background! I love it :).Version: 1.2

Personally...I think "Trope" is great. Admittedly, I bought it more to listen to it than to "play" it, and for listening, it's really nice. Quieter and more low key (no pun intended) than Bloom, which is also wonderful. The Opal generative music apps are the logical development of and perhaps the best format for Eno's ambient work. They provide something that "Discreet Music," "Music for Airports," et al suggest but can't deliver given the limitation of their medium: evolving, "perpetual" music..Version: 0

DarkerNot as good as Bloom for an immediate response but fun nonetheless!.Version: 0

Just listen!That is all.Version: 1.2

Trope for the trifecta.Another great music generator from the minds of Brian Eno and Peter Chilvers. Buying Trope was an easy decision after having enjoyed using Bloom and Air. This app is the perfect addition for fans of ambient music and the works of Mr. Eno..Version: 0

FantasticI loved Bloom, but this is something else! The best generative music app I've ever used. It's a steal at this price..Version: 0

Works for meThere is an occasional crackle in the audio. I haven't downloaded the newest version yet to see if that has been corrected. In spite of that - this is my most used "go to sleep" app..Version: 0

Self evolving soundscapesElegant app, sonically and visually. Why this stokes deep associations I don't expect to know. No lack of craft..Version: 1.3

Sublime'Trope' is an incredible music app, probably the best there is. If you like ambient music then this will blow you away. Be great if you could record your own compositions, but other than that, this is the greatest app I've bought..Version: 0

Subtler than BloomSome say Trope is not as responsife as Bloom. Not true. Each action by the finger is more like moving a finger over a lip of a crystal glass. Not like keystrokes on a synth like Bloom. I like it. It complements Bloom..Version: 0

Beautiful sound and visionWhile I'm fond of Bloom, and it's more "playable", I spend much more time with Trope as I enjoy the synth tones' greater prominence in the mix. Trope has become my favourite sleep music with its soothing tones and the slow evolution of notes when the random modes are switched on..Version: 1.2
