✓ Unable to import GEDCOMSo I can't even get started with the app. Very disappointing..Version: 3.4.14
✓ A little disappointingOn uploading my gedcom file i was disappointed to find lots of information was missing - middle names, marriage dates, research notes etc which I have had to add since upload However having said that I think this app will prove useful when researching in the field. If this misregistration of information is fixed I would be happy to rate at 5 stars..Version: 3.0.6

✓ Total waste - Cannot view gedcom filesOne would assume with a $5 app called “GedView”, that viewing gedcom files would be a function of said app. Don’t bother..Version: 4.2.14
✓ Misleading icon and limited functionalityThis is not really a family 'tree' app as far as I can tell. It is limited to the table views shown in the screenshots. From the icon at the top of the page (the same icon you'll see on your iPad) you would guess that you could actually view and navigate or scroll your family tree as a tree, but you can't. That's right - there is NO tree view included in the app! Misleading marketing at the very least (angry remark deleted here). A waste of £2.39 since I used it for all of 10 minutes and then reverted to a real family tree program on my laptop. Can I get a refund if I give back the app?.Version: 3.0.2
✓ GedviewSo far no success in downloading from Ancestry, can have safari open same time and if i use from within program i cant proceed , willl need to revisit. I use Family Tree so maybe it's not compatible Will still able to use for notes etc I would think.Version: 3.2.5
✓ Fun while it lasted...I only had this App on my phone, not on my computer... For people who are new at this, a warning would help. Last updated erased everything, need to start over. Boo :-(.Version: 3.0.6
✓ Drops Name Fields Without Warning2nd attempt to submit a review: much more abbreviated this time. Neither this app store profile nor the gedview web site provide a clear description of what the app actually does. The gedview app doesn't operate directly off the ged file. Instead, it converts the content of your ged into a new database, then no longer uses the original ged file. In the process of conversion, it dropped the middle name field content of my ged file, leaving the new database with ambiguous, corrupted data with first names and surnames, only. Since there's no log file created nor warnings issued about dropped or ignored data, It is impossible to know what else is ignored by the attempt to translate the ged file. It was a waste of $5 just to find out its limitations. The resulting database is worthless and can't be trusted with my ged files. I've deleted the app. Just get a good iOS-based family tree app like MobileFamilyTree that handles multiple versions of ged file formats for import and it provides a rich functional interface with FamilySearch's global genealogy database. it is functionally much, much more robust..Version: 4.2.14

✓ Ok but needs moreAlthough difficult at first use I got the hand of it and filled in family tree. My main issues are with the displaying of the tree which is very basic. It needs to be extended so when looking at pedigree it show more than great grand parents perhaps allowing you to slide the screen about to reveal more extended family. also the inclusion of photos would be a lovely touch on this product to. I look forward future upgrades which could make this a great product. I don't really want to get another product like reunion I would like to recommend this to my friends..Version: 0
✓ Upgrade? Update? Huh?I've had this app for years. After updating it today, I can't open a file saved earlier without responding to a popup message which refers to needing an "upgrade" also referred to as an "update." Both terms are used. Neither is defined or explained, and it isn't clear whether they're just referring to updating a file, or charging for an "upgrade" to the app, so I deleted the app. It never was that good anyway..Version: 4.0.4

✓ Poor ImportThe program doesn’t to be able correctly map people from a GEDCOM file. I’ve tried using a file from my computer software program and also from the ancestry.ca site with still finding people combined and looking like it’s one person. Maybe I’m doing something wrong ☹️.Version: 4.2.8
✓ GedviewThis app looked like just what I wanted for a trip to check on my ancestors. What a disappointment. According to the little + sign on the app store listing this app is compatible with iPad. It clearly is not as having downloaded it when I touch the app logo all it does is flash and return to the main screen. I' d like a refund please. I have loaded many apps with this + sign and they all work OK apart from yours..Version: 3.0.4
✓ Very very happy........I was not initially happy with this app on first installation as I didn't believe it was as functional as indicated. Round of applause to the developer as the most recent updates have addressed the only real flaw in the original version. This is now truly a standalone app and as such stands alone in apps of it's type. Well done!!!.Version: 0
✓ Total rubbish!Unbelieveably useless/ridiculous application. I downloaded it and it doesn't even work! I put in 'smith' into the search field and you'd think there'd be plenty of them??! Nothing!! There's not even an instruction or guide on how to use the program, I am so so angry right now, total rip off and biggest waste of £2.39!! ✓ WorthlessNumber one issue: this app does not have a tree view, just a list view. I bought and downloaded this app to allow me to view and edit GEDCOM files so I wouldn't have to completely reconstruct a part of my family tree in order to share it without exposing more than just one branch. Unfortunately, this app does not allow for trimming branches, you have to go in and delete families (actually, one couple and their children) one at a time or remove people individually. I may as well start a new tree from scratch and reenter everything! This app is utterly worthless..Version: 4.2.14

✓ Not bad -- looking for moreI can't complain about what you get for the price. The main missing feature for me is the lack of a pedigree chart display (unless I'm missing something). It did import my Gedcom file of 5500 names just fine, and I can view them in list form. I'd just like a way to view relationships better..Version: 0
✓ Will SeeApplicaton not bad, will be good to have my database with me on a day to day basis, though if I was travelling or going to the State REcorrds or library i would take my Netbook so that I can use my Legacy Database. The only issue I have is that I cannot upload my entire database, which has over 8000 names in it. I get an not enough memory error. I have successfully uploaded a file with just 800 but I'd rather have the ability to have my entire database on the iPhone..Version: 0

✓ Still has some bugs but getting betterI've added another star since the last release and my last review. It is now possible to create family trees as a standalone app. As far as I can tell, this is unique on the iPhone if you also want to be able to export your work to desktop apps on a PC. The sexes of the people in the tree still change on their own when you edit other data. There's bug in the program that makes me nervous. There's a tree view feature in the manual but I can't seem to get it to work. Might be me... The list of what should come next is very long but my immediate requests would be: - the ability to attach pictures to people - auto calculation of ages - relationship names between people in an easier way - import, export, or sync info from the iPhone contacts database per individual Keep working on this. I think there's a lot of potential here. Or, if the competition would unlock their apps from their Mac apps, that would work too... Thanks..Version: 0
✓ A good program but not enoughSadly this is the best I've found for the iPhone and it is reasonably good. The problem is that you cannot build from scratch. It requires instead that you have an existing gedcom (which for ancestry users is not good as ancestry built into its gedcom formats a whole bunch of the newer bells and whistles which no one hardly supports). Rootsmagic users will have no problems (although I've only imported rm4 gedcom files). What is needed for this program are a few more bells and whistles such as a research notes and todo list. Also the ability to work from scratch. If it doesn't get it the impending release of roots magic for iPad and iPhone will kick it to pieces..Version: 3.2.5

✓ Disappointed following upgradeI've been happily using this app and gave it a 5 star rating previously. Now downgraded to 3 star. Unable to upload my gedcom via the server. Never had a problem before. Now have to resort to uploading my gedcom to my website first and downloading it from there. It took me a long time to do it but it now appears to work as before.
