Relative Pitch Interval Ear Training for Negative User Reviews

OK, should be betterYou dont learn intervals well just by passive listening, especially when hearing just once without repetition and then hearing another interval group with different notes (again only once), as is the case for instance involving the major 3rds with the minor 3rds. The "anchor on" option is absurdly easy and close to useless. These intervals should be repeated and slower so you can sing to them- thats how you learn intervals. If this were designed to actively practice with vocalising, including range options, then this would get 5 stars..Version: 0

Worst $8.79 I spentIf you have no ear training experience at all and have never listened to a single pitch in your life this is for you. All the training is based on the same root note so your ear just gets used to that same root note. They should be varying the intervals with different notes and testing you forwards and backwards. Very disappointing..Version: 0

Expected much more for the priceVery basic app.Version: 1.11

Is this app this updated?I think it would be helpful if the notes that were played were shown after a question. I try to follow along with my piano when I’m unsure of the interval that was played but when I’m playing an interval with the root different than the one in the audio the sounds are very different (I know that different pitches produce different sounds but I should still be able to distinguish the interval even on a different root)..Version: 1.16.2

Some bugsThis app gives really good practice, but there is an error where octave and unison sound exactly the same. Also, could be a little more engaging..Version: 1.16.2

Couldn't. Give 0 starsI expected more from this app buy cheaper ones there the same but for 1$ -3$.Version: 1.7

Really annoying upsells for a paid appKeeps asking to buy more apps from the publisher as popups. Also the uses modal dialogs too much..Version: 1.16.2

Elementary level onlyGreat app for those new to music and at the Elementary level. No worth the money if you are interested in gaining rapid pitch acuity in recognizing intervals. I use other apps that far outpace the educational benfits of this. And those apps were free..Version: 1.16.2

For Beginners onlyGood solid app. If you have had any ear training at all don't get this one. This one has intervals only, no chords or scales..Version: 0

Alright, but not worth the moneyThis app is well designed, but is limited in its exercises. Your money will be better spent on the app "Ear Trainer". It is a better bargain and has far more exercises and options..Version: 1.16.2

Too expensiveNot worth the cost.Version: 1.16.2

Lack of ContentThere is not enough information on this app for the unreasonable price of it. As for intervals, they only have intervals up to an octave and no further. As for the learning experience, it is a little inaccurate being that you only have one anchor pitch for every test. Rather then having different notes in every interval, one specific note is always the base note. This makes everything very easy as you have one “do” the whole time. I personally wish I saved my money for an app that can do much more..Version: 1.16.2

A good startThis app has some things which I really liked. The progressive difficulty lessons, the practice mode, and the encouraging voice left me with no complaints. However, there are a few features that I would have liked to see for the $8.00 I payed for this app that I did not. I don’t have perfect pitch but do have good short term memory for pitches, so when I do the lesson for long enough I can remember what the notes sound like and then my ears don’t need to recognize the intervals but just what the notes are (I hope that makes sense), so I’d prefer if the app could have the option to randomize the tonic note so that it is not always a middle C. Also, I was expecting to receive training in compound intervals as well (intervals that are greater than an octave) and that was one of the main reasons that I actually downloaded this app. One smaller suggestion is to have a few more instrument options just to keep it more engaging (bonus if you can add an option to randomize the timbre for each interval that is played in a test or practice session). Just to reiterate, this app has a good model and some good starting features but if I had known it’s current limitations I would not have purchased it..Version: 1.16.2

Beautiful but crippledAn EXCELLENT, slick interface, with great usability. Only problem is that there is no way to lock the intervals to a key, which is the only way to relate training like this to FUNCTIONAL harmony, which is the only way to get any musical meaning out of training like this. I've know many, many people who have gone all crazy with this kind of interval identification, only to find it doesn't apply at all to any musical (harmonic) context. They can name any isolated interval on the spot and fast, buy they can't tear apart or reproduce a melody for their life. Sad. (Some people get by this, I've know a couple, but they were naturally very talented or "trained by feel" so deeply that they weren't affected by the disease of interval isolation. (Note that you CAN lock the intervals to a "root note," but that's very different from "key.") As I said, it's sad, because the design is lovely and is marvolously usable. But it's very overpriced for what it lacks. If had options for harmonic placement within keys (as "Do Re Mi" does with melody), it would become a killer. 'Til then, there are infinitely better ways to spend the time, energy and dollars. - KD Jones.Version: 0

BlahI find it pretty boring and all but it's still an alright app....Version: 1.10
