SingTrue: Learn to sing in tune, pitch perfect for Negative User Reviews

Don't waste your money.I completed the full app in 14 mins and then there was nothing else to do. You literally sing one note and that's it before the ask you to pay for more..Version: 1.2.2

Don’t like having livesI have lives so I can’t practice.Version: 1.2.2

ScamThis app may be great, but I asked for a refund. I do not expect to buy an app for £7.99 then be asked to ‘refill’ after 5 minutes for extra money. That’s fine if I haven’t paid for an app but is a blatant rip off if I have. Should be ashamed of themselves.Version: 1.2.2

JunkIt doesn’t actually help me learn to sing pitches. Then asks me to pay more money to penalize practicing. Wish I hadn’t purchased..Version: 1.2.2

The app needs an updateWhy isn’t possible to use headset and microphone? Why can’t we split the screen (on iPad, this is a must) with another music application ? Why can’t we have more that just one pentatonic? Why can’t we not record anything?.Version: 1.2.2

Pretty good but I hate the “lives” partI love how I can practice getting my pitch perfect and it has improved my singing but I absolutely hate it how after maybe two or three tries at getting the right note, the app tells me I’m “out of lives”. I really wanted to continuing practicing but I don’t want to pay to get more lives. Not very fair. But I do like how it’s ad free and you don’t have to pay to initially buy the app. 👍.Version: 1.2.2

Rip offThis app is so bad it always tells me you have petential even when I do a screech noise it says wow you have petential it is so stuped.Version: 1.2

Scam?I paid $13 for more modules but it just says more to come. Is this a joke?.Version: 1.2.2

This app is not goodSERIOUSLY U GET LIVES SO STUPID I DONT RECOMEND😡😡.Version: 1.2.2

Ok but...Great at first, really helps but then after ten minutes of doing it you finish all the activities on the app and then you’ll haft to pay to continue! Not a fan aswell because you have lives its a singing app not a video game :(.Version: 1.2.2

No help fileSeems like a good app but lacks direction. What are the stars for? Where am I going? Why am I doing this? Sure would be helpful if I could get answers when I have a question..Version: 1.2

Don’t botherUnbelievably once you start to use this app, you actually have to keep paying extra...right in the middle of the lesson to continue a lesson! Could not believe it..Version: 1.2.2

More wantedGot this app because I wanted to sing, but completed it in one day. I didn’t really learn anything after I finished. Would be better if much more activities are added..Version: 1.2.2

No major updateI like this app so paid for 'Access All' as it says "major updates coming soon" "more modules coming soon" but alas nothing.... This was quite a long time ago... :-( I now see there's no updates since 2016. :-((.Version: 1.2.2

Don’t buy this! You only get 3 “lives” per day. Paying for the app does not change this. It unlocks more exercises but if, like me, you are a bad singer you quickly get stuck at a stage where you only get 3 tries per day to hit a particular note, unless you pay more for more lives each time. Far too difficult for a beginner, and I imagine totally unnecessary for anyone who actually can sing..Version: 1.2.2

Idk if I’m navigating it wrong...So I’m not sure if this is like a new app so you guys are adding new modules or if I’m not looking in the right spot but I was on it for less than 4 days and I got to level five and there’s nothing else for me to do on the app. It keeps saying more modules are coming soon. Other than that it was a great experience.Version: 1.2.2

What happened? This app once taught me to sing an octave NOW only one note? What is going on. This was the best singing app by far and right now it’s a big fat nothing. I’m bereft..Version: 1.2.2

Waste of timeSo I completed the first set of tests in about 30 minutes, since then (2 weeks ago) it’s just said “more modules coming soon” and the only way to access more is by paying out for individual tests..Version: 1.2.2

Ok app, no updatesThis is a nice app for practicing your singing, but they promise updates when you buy it and never deliver them. This is a perfect example of “soon” never arriving. I have had the app for over a year and new lessons have never been added. There are much better applications out there for about the same price, and they are actually updated. I would skip this one and look further..Version: 1.2.2

Unsupported But Still Charging For UseApple really should prevent companies like this from charging for apps which are unsupported. Any attempts to contact the developers go unanswered too. Save your money..Version: 1.2.2

Quiz kept crashing and not easy to navigateThe opening screen was informative and simple. I did the first Ear quiz then the only option was doing same test three times. Then I tried harder quiz and no sound came each time. You cannot then try another to see if that works :( If it worked then I would like to explore more..Version: 1.2.2

Really Good Concept > PriceI really enjoyed this app for the amount of time I used it! One major flaw, lives? How am I supposed to get better when I have to spend money when I fail. I already paid for the lesson material! If they took away the whole lives concept I would definitely consider using all this app has to offer including the add-ons. No one should have to pay for failing when they've already bought the product..Version: 1.2.2

Very thinAs mentioned in other reviews this app is very thin on content. Unbelievably so. You should not have to pay for it. It has left a slightly bad taste in my mouth and a sceptical attitude towards buying any further apps based on reading the reviews. Five star money trap.Version: 1.2.2

Money problemIt did not help that much. Yes it did help me find my pitch but some people can afford everything that you have. Make it free but extra extra stuff make us pay..Version: 1.2.2

GoodIt’s good but the three life thing needs to be removed because it’s just discouraging and then you have to stop practicing when you mess up too many times..Version: 1.2.2

Fix the MICROPHONEEverything else works but the MICERPHONE it doesn’t work for me. Please fix microphone..Version: 1.2.2

Greedy bastardsScrew you.Version: 1.2.2

This didn’t work at all on my phoneI’m a professional musician. I wanted to use this app for pitch drift to prepare for the very sensitive studio mic. The app doesn’t allow you to bypass rudimentary beginner stuff. Once I finally got to the voice monitoring I was looking for, it didn’t work. I was supposed to listen to a tone and match it. It did not play a tone, and the microphone did not record. I deleted the app after 15 minutes of not getting anything to work that I needed..Version: 1.2.2

Very limitedThis app has very limited functionality. It might be good for an absolute beginner. It lets you sing a note of your own choosing. It tells you what that note is then encourages you to sing “your note”. It gives you feedback on how accurately you hold the pitch, but only for that one note. There are a few variations on the same theme, but it doesn’t progress beyond singing one note..Version: 1.2.2

DisappointingFor free you get a couple of basic exercises. You are forever swiping and tapping as you do them. To progress, you need to buy the in-app purchases. Nowhere could I find a list of these, to find what it would cost to do all the exercises. I hate that..Version: 1.1

FORCES You to PAY $ and ADVERTISE for them. PLEASE READ.WHAT DID I JUST PAY FOR!? They present this a training tool but it’s formatted like a game. They give you ten lives. I understand in app purchases for additional content. But to not be able to use this app for more than ten minutes at a time without paying is RIDICULOUS. Especially when you lose a life for not meeting the goal of the challenge and 99% of people that would download are not trained singers... I much rather they charge three bucks and just make it a great easy app. It’s also weird that some “singing challenges” are to share your results. It’s fine to make it an option, but IN WHAT WORLD SHOULD I PAY AN APP TO ADVERTISE THEM. Won’t be using it further. I don’t recommend. Could have been helpful if it wasn’t so shadyyy!.Version: 1.2.2

OkThe app is quite good in total but the lives thing is annoying. SingTrue definitely deserves a three..Version: 1.2.2

Not a app for picking up pitchI’m a professional singer and tried this App in relation to my teaching. I thought it would help students achieve feedback on whether they can sing back a pitch played to them. The tasks were not related to that- but the advertising suggests that it does. Its good to start people off at a comfortable pitch, but I was expecting a clear range of intonation exercises.I don’t see how holding a note longer would score higher-without applying good technique, most people either change, or might hold the note at pitch by applying tension. One good aspect of the App: I’ve taught an intonation class in the past and have used an exercise similar to the higher/lower recognition. But one doesn’t have to do this for very long -the problem to sing back has mostly to do with a combination of wrong technique and lack of confidence..Version: 1.2.2

Begins to help, then stopsI have always wanted to be a good singer, and I think that I sound great, but when I record myself singing and listen to it, it sounds horrible because I am out of tune. I decided to try this app, and I went through a few exercises which helped a lot. But when I tried to do some others, the app said I had to buy them all, one buy one, which is awfully expensive and simply dishonest because in the description of the app they claim that everything is for free. Just when you get started and start improving they say that you have to pay for the rest. I find this absolutely ridiculous. I understand that they want to make money, but they trick you into paying for it. After all, you’re not going to stop when you just got started and are seeing improvement..Version: 1.2.2

Like the app but won’t send through headphonesHi guys. Love this app but I’m having an issue where the audio is only coming out of phone speaker and not headphones. I was previously able to practice with headphones on while at work or public transit but I don’t know why it’s acting up now. I can hear audio on my iTunes no problem but not the app. Please fix and this review will be a 5..Version: 1.2.2

My honest review of this gameIt doesn’t even teach you to sing. Before I could do any singing I had to listen to pictures and then I had to find out if the sweep was sweeping up or down. If you want to do this type of stuff download the game, if you just want to sing don’t..Version: 1.2.2

No updates in a year!I think the app is helpful and has made a decent start My ears have improved. However, I’m stuck at a certain level, and can’t seem to “graduate”, no matter how well I do. We see messages like “more modules coming soon”, but that has not happened in quite some time, about a year according to the version history. Sadly, it seems that the developers have ceased developing this product. I wouldn’t recommend buying the app for that reason alone. Would happily change my mind if improvements were forthcoming....Version: 1.2.2

Stopped using because of lives featureSeems like a good app. would happily watch a 30 second add in app to earn a life. but the app punishes you for not singing well. which seems neurologically counterproductive seeing its whole existence is trying to help and encourage you to be better at singing. i understand you want money for the app you have made as you have provided a service. my solution to you would be to build in a feature where you just watch an add to receive a life. so we can keep singing. thing is people are used to watching ads, they are forced to watch them all the time these days. you are missing out on revenue by not having this feature..Version: 1.2.2

Barren appThere's only one exercise or short quiz like activity in each category. No variation on the notes. Could be structured like a language learning or brain training app. As it is now it's garbage..Version: 1.2.2

Why are there lives?????????When I didn’t even know about lives I thought I was going to play this all day I thought it was the best app ever but I was wrong when I saw the pop up it said I was out of lives and I had to wait until tomorrow but I didn’t want to pay so I realized if they do that they don’t motivate you they just make you feel like you are a bad singer and I am a very good singer so next time you update this take away the lives so for now don’t get this app.Version: 1.2.2

Mis-sold.Bought the full version because it had much to offer - apart from glitch in relative pitch. One thing only: though I paid in full, app shuts down and demands payment for refills, right when your pupil needs to continue. Worse - the durations between refills get shorter as you learn, meaning you have to pay more for your next fix. So the reviews of the usage may be fair - but as applied, it’s corrupt. Find out what an in app purchase means before you download candy for the kids..Version: 1.2.2

Only for Absolute BeginnersI was VERY disappointed after paying to unlock the whole app that there was nothing challenging for me. Great for beginners’ ear training but does not go anywhere after that..Version: 1.2.2

It’s okThe basics of the game are good but there is not enough lives for how hard some exercises are to earn just one star. I am not asking for more lives, I’m asking for getting one star to be easier and for you to be asked if you want to watch an advert to refill your lives. I do not think that any of these requests are unreasonable, after all, adverts give the developers money!.Version: 1.2.2

OkThis app, in my opinion, has been helpful in discovering what my pitch is, the duration I can hold it for etc.. However, needing to refill ‘lives’ to use this app constantly is ridiculous. ‘Lives’? This isn’t a game. I want to train my voice and this app doesn’t allow me to do that for as long as I want,.Version: 1.2.2

It’s a paid educational app that works on a freemium modelNot only do a lot of the lessons come as separate paid bundles you have to pay for (something I’d consider, depending on how thrilled I ended up with the first few lessons) but if you fail a lesson a few times you have to pay them or wait to keep trying. That may actually be the most annoying possible implementation of the freemium model I have ever encountered, and I really and sincerely hate all freemium implementations already. Not recommended unless you enjoy being annoyed to pay more when you’re trying to learn something..Version: 1.2.2

Too many in-app purchases neededThe app seemed good on the face of it, but I was using it with my children and if they don't meet the required achievement after a couple of goes they 'lose lives'. This means they cannot continue without waiting for some time unless you purchase more lives. Terrible for an app you have to pay for in the first place and not motivating..Version: 1.2.2

Has potential but disappointingAt first i thought this would be a cool app to strengthen my singing. But oh my gosh, i cannot emphasise this enough - THE FREAKING LIVES?? They mess up a lot, it says i have to get 80%, i get 90% but i lose a life, it doesnt let me proceed and tells me to come back later - i didnt purchase this app as A GAME! I want to improve. I cant improve if im afraid of failing because failing means they tell you: sorry, you cant try again because YOU SUCK. Come back later, loser. When really they should let you keep trying until you get it. They dont even let you proceed nor do they tell you when the lives will refill!! Like i said this app is clever and has potential. But I am so so disappointed. 1 star. If you got rid of the lives it would be 4 or even 5. Please fix this, A disappointed aspiring singer 🎤☹️😔.Version: 1.2.2

Has Potential But At A Steep Price $$$I would happily pay for a full version of this app but the pay-as-you-go functionality for the beginner is just too steep. $1 for 10 lives which can be lost in a matter of a few minutes. You could probably get an in person singing lesson from a professional for the cost of using this app for an hour. Disappointed to be deleting this app as it is otherwise well designed..Version: 1.2.2

LivesIn this app you will need lives they need money to get and when you run out you have to BUY more I don't like this feature they have, though the practicing is good and fun that is what the one star is for. :).Version: 1.2.2

Sing tuneThis app is fairly good and helps kids and adults to sing this app includes a range of different activities to learn .this app helps you find your note which is a note which you can sing the best. mine is G# although it is a singing app you don’t do very much singing it is someone else singing and you get to recognise the different pitches for example but I gave this app a four star rating because it helps me to sing and learn but the one star taken off was because I think it should include more singing voice exercises Yours sincerely Izzy.Version: 1.2.2

Deceptive marketingThe technology seems excellent, at least as far as I got in using the program, but the “in app purchase” notice is a scam. When I saw that I assumed it would be a crippled free app with an option to buy the fully functional app. I would have happily paid $10 or so for that, based on what I saw before bailing. This is like one of those games where they nickel and dime you for additional lives. I stopped as soon as I saw where it was going. Sad, as I liked what I used.Version: 1.2.2

I just wanted to sing a sincere note #FThis app isn’t what you are looking for..Version: 1.2.2

AaaaaahhhhhhWaste of money.Version: 1.2.2

Pretty okThis app is fun and can help you out improve your singing. Personally I have not seen a change in my singing yet. After downloading I finished the two exercises in like 30 minutes. It’s been days and there are no more exercises to do. It’s like the app is just done. It says “new modules coming soon” but after a week I have seen none. If you are looking to sing better in songs and such this app is not the one. It only lets you practice one note and perfect it. In songs the whole point is having several different notes. It has no way to help you get better at a note besides doing it over and over. You can go back and reset you note but if more modules come out and you want to use your perfected note you have to reset it again, getting it at the same point may be tricky. Overall this is a pretty ok app considering it’s free..Version: 1.2.2

Should be free and more up-front about costsThis app does seem like it will do what it promises if you put in the time AND if you pay for all the in-app purchases on top of the purchase price. This paid version basically feels like a fremium free version because the functionality is so limited unless you pay. With no singing background at all, I exhausted the included exercises in 15 minutes. Total intro level stuff that wasn’t worth the 99¢ I paid. Plus, as many others have said, every time you miss an exercise, you loose a life and either have to wait or plug money in for more tries. This seems like an aggressive and annoying monetization strategy for a learning tool vs. game. But, if you put in the time and additional cash outlay, the underlying technology seems totally useful. To the app developers, why not offer this for free and then offer a premium option with all features with the total price? Oh yeah, so you can nickel and dime your core fans for each expansion pack..Version: 1.2.2

Enjoy this app, but it continues to ask for more $$It wasn’t highly rated so I didn’t expect much—but I’ve really enjoyed using it and as a very beginning singer it honestly helped a lot and was fun to use as well. So, since I was very happy with the free version, decided to buy the full version—as the free one limits the number of exercises you can do within a certain amount of time. After paying $7.99, I discovered that I was still just as limited to how often I can use it. But guess what? For an additional $2.99 I can “un-limit” my full-purchase version of the app. What a rip-off. Also—it’s super buggy and there are never updates. Once you get to the voice exercises; the app consistently freezes up or simply quits, and you fail the exercise and loose a “life.” It does not seem to properly register the “re” once you get to the voice exercises either making it impossible to use or progress. It works just fine in the initial exercises—hoeing you that you are hitting the note, but once you get to the paid-for exercises, it will not register properly..Version: 1.2.2

Just noI am a person surrounded by good singers and I wanted to try and get better myself, I’ve been told I have a good voice but a pretty bad situation with notes and such so I’ve been trying these apps to help but this one just got me mad. Some of the exercises worked like they were supposed too and others just didn’t. There was one where I was to bullseye a note which is ok if the stupid thing would pick up and calculate that I was even singing. (I was singing as loud as before when I got 100% in the loud category and it wasn’t my phones fault) if I was to follow what the app said I would have been singing for hours and I tried closing and opening the app and I’m jus mad. Also sharing your note is what this app calls a crucial step in getting better like NO I don’t want to share with my Facebook about how I’m using this stupid app. The point is try the app or whatever but don’t expect miracles bro I didn’t and I still got mad..Version: 1.2.2

Avoid... no active updates...Got this app a year ago and done all the medial/introductory tasks which basically only tell you what note you’ve pitched. No voice training whatsoever. Complete waste of time and money. Invest in singing lessons by a professional tutor..Version: 1.2.2

Surprise chargeGood app to see how well you are staying in pitch on one note, but no options for practicing a bar with several tricky notes. Also thought this was a free app, and there is a $1,59 charge gone on my card. Not sure if it automatically charges if you want to move on from super simple practices. What are the stars for???.Version: 1.2.2

False advertisingI purchased two extra apps for this application and they never materialised. I believed one was $2.99 and the other was $1.49 . Don't get sucked into buying extra like I did !!!!.Version: 1.2.2

MehIt was great at first, but after 3 weeks or so, the sound won’t play. I tried changing the volume, turning it of silent, closing if, but no..Version: 1.2.2

You get lives on a paid app...Don't buy this. You pay money for an app that then prompts you to buy more lives. If it was free I'd understand but this is a joke. Good app but far out they are greedy. Dissatisfied & disappointed.Version: 1.2.2

AnnoyingThe app is the quickest way to hate singing. Every little mistake of your vocal cords will be punished by wasting 20 seconds of your time listening to all the notes again. No way to skip, no margin for error. I DONT NEED TO HEAR ALL THE NOTES FOR 201st TIME, I JUST NEED MORE THAN 10 SECONDS TO ADJUST MY VOCAL CORDS, FOR CHRIST’S SAKE! I hugely regret paying for it..Version: 1.2.2

Just a bit of funI compleated all of the stuff you dont have to pay for in 12 mind. It even teks you how long you use It for in the app. But is was fun finding out how long I could hold a note for, and seing how high I could go, ect..Version: 1.2.2

Good but only for the basicsIt is good, but only for the basics, as after you have completed the levels, it says it is getting more, but it never does. And also, you cannot achieve more levels unless you share your notes, but I also do not want everyone to hear me singing, so then now, I cannot get more levels or level up. But if it is only your notes, quizzes, and the basics, that you want to learn, then this app is the perfect app for you 🙂.Version: 1.2.2

Why some live?....Version: 1.2.2

Good for basic confidence boost but limitedI purchased this app because I was impressed by my initial experience with the exercises and it confirms whether you are hitting the note accurately. However have not seen much expansion in the scope of the exercises available in the app since purchase which is disappointing and although I have registered numerous times for the email on tips. I have never received anything.Version: 1.2.2

UnsatisfactoryI got the app thinking it would help me know if I was tune deaf (I heard someone sing horribly and wanted to make sure I didn’t sound like them so I got this app) and will help me improve my singing. I passed all of the levels within fifteen to twenty minutes of owning the app and do not want to buy all of the extra levels. Unless they come out with the new modules soon, I will gladly delete the app..Version: 1.2.2

Good, but the lives are annoyingI started using the app and found it very useful, like keeping pitch and being steady. The app takes a very video-game approach to learning, which is fun at times, but they go a bit too far when giving you lives. If you fail a certain amount of tasks in a day, your lives run out and you cannot play for the rest of the day unless you pay for more. I get that this might be a way to get money from people, but it actually refrains you from being able to practice! My advice would be to get rid of the ‘lives’ but until that happens, it’s only getting three stars from me..Version: 1.2.2

Not enough practiceI bought the paid version of this app thinking I would get as many life’s as I want but this is not the case. It only allows me 3-5 failed attempts at an activity and then I cannot keep practicing. It makes me either buy more life’s or wait until tomorrow. I would not spend the money on this app..Version: 1.2.2
