✓ AddictiveI never tried the original nethack but did play angband on my pc, when i first tried this version of nethack with the gesture controls I at first found it a little intimidating and thought it would be too much to remember but its surprising how you pick them up once you get playing, i'm hooked and love this game, don't expect an easy ride though YOU WILL DIE, amd you will die a lot but this is old skool gaming and the depth of it is amazing, it makes you realise many modern games are a lil dumbed down and jus look pretier. And with this app also being FREE how can anyone complain. good to sit and play at home or on a long journey. :).Version: 1.0

✓ Just a few problems...My games do crash occasionally, but when they do, if I press restore at the startup, it works fine. One crash cause is selecting an un-enhancable (needs training) skill while there is another skill you can enhance available, and pressing done. If the game didn't crash when you died, it would be fine. If that crash is ever fixed, when you select 'no' to restore after crash, it should say an are you sure? Message. The force command isn't in the picker, and options aren't saved between lives (likely because of the crash upon a death). Those would be nice fixes. All in all, it is very convenient and streamlined, once you learn most of the commands by muscle memory. Instead of using them straight from the picker, close it and do the glyph on your screen. You will learn fast. Also, it needs a way to enter wizard mode!!!!!!.Version: 1.0
✓ Great port of the greatest game!This is an outstanding port of Nethack 3.4.3. Using the innovative and responsive touch-gesture controls, it's easy to navigate, fight and use the inventory. Obviously you cannot edit the option files and you can't have more than one character at a time but most of the other options (certainly the relevant ones) are available through menus. With multiple graphical tilesets included and the ability to switch at any time means that you don't have to squint over tiny characters. It's free, it's incredibly deep and it's classic - the best RPG on iPhone..Version: 0

✓ Pretty damn goodA great version of nethack, the touch gestures are actually useful even though I thought I wouldn't use them. If anything this is far easier to play than nethack with a keyboard. Stability problems and a crappy leaderboard make this a 4. Patch please!.Version: 1.0
✓ Get iiit!Honestly my favourite game on the App Store - and I have played a fair few. There are, however, some crashing issues, and I have had some problems with random loss of saves. This really needs an update. Still, it's free, so there's no reason not to get it. Many do not like Rogue-likes, but I wholeheartedly recommend them..Version: 1.0

✓ Good free port of nethackThis is a good game. It even has the legacy ASCII graphics. I don't know if I would get it if it was paid, but as a free app, awesome! There are bugs here though. It needs not think that it crashed when you open the app. Also, when you die, the app crashes instead of starting a new game..Version: 0
✓ Spectacular portAbsolutely brilliant port of the classic game. I thought Nethack would be impossible on iPhone but this achieves it admirably. The use of gestural controls is a drop dead genius solution to the games extensive control scheme. And the option to use various graphical tilesets is icing on the cake. Very well done..Version: 0
✓ Close enough for meThe frequent crashing is a major problem. However, if you use the glyphs instead of the menus most of that goes away. Just save often. Considering how dependent the original game was on the keyboard, this is a great port. Two other minor problems: there doesn't seem to be any way to force a chest, and you can't see yourself when you're invisible (yeah, I know, but in the original game at least there's a cursor)..Version: 1.0
✓ Great portI love the inclusion of both ascii and the 2d side scroller versions as well as all the different tilesets that really improve the game. I like how the commands are all on a slide wheel and categorized so you dont have to try and remember what character key does what. great game, even better on the pc though..Version: 1.0
✓ Great for local play, learned to love the UIMy first ascension was obtained using this app. Nowadays I prefer playing online on a public server like NAO or hardfought. I wish developer could bolt his UI on top of telnet or SSH somehow. Current telnet nethack on a phone ‘works’ but isn’t playable, IMO. Great job Gandreas!.Version: 1.0
✓ Faithful NetHack, controls love/hateThis appears to be a port of NetHack, with some nice graphical touches. The control system uses gestures or picking from menus -- I am undecided whether the gestures are yet another hurdle to this game (which already has a very steep learning curve), or a nice way to deal with the many keys required by the original. If you enjoy NetHack, try it out. If you enjoy one of NetHack's offspring, such as the Diablo series, be prepared for some time spent learning how to control the game -- and expect to die, A LOT, until you get the hang of it. Those who persevere are rewarded with a deep storyline, many quests, and a lot of monsters to dispatch. Excuse me, while I go back to the game to start another Tourist character in search of the mythical Amulet of Yendor....Version: 0
✓ Great game!! Classics revived!This is really a great dungeon slasher. With a groovy graphics tile set, which u can change, and the immersive gaming that came from the original. With clever iPhone commands integrated, I can't reccomend this game highly enough. True it has a few little issues to iron out but otherwise this game is highly playable and very addictive!
