If further improvement is planned in that field, I would advocate it to be more cautious in accepting a double; I generally find that I can win a match that is more or less even in numbers of games because my wins are more expensive. ✓ Good, could be betterExcellent playability but some glaring flaws. Bias to the computer with low scoring dice to you if you are in front. Will only double if you are seriously behind. Will quit too easily on a double. Predictable play and no real challenge even on the hard level. The dice throws are not random and even a beginner will soon learn the format. ✓ Needs some workIt is a fun app, you can choose your difficulty levels. The part that gets tiresome is when playing the computer in a "hard" setting, they constantly roll doubles beyond anything you would see in normal dice rolling. Also, when your in the bearing off mode and there is no danger of hitting or being hit by another pip, this game has no automatic roll-off, in other words, you must tirelessly keep rolling and removing your men and waiting for the computer to so the same when at that point it should just be automated bearing off. I'm sure there are some apps that have that, I just don't know which ones do. In the meantime, this is a fun free app that will keep unnecessary occupied for hours..Version: 1.61

System should play strategically in Medium and even more so in Hard - but the Hard is just dice rolls favorably for AI and against player. Also, there is no scoring bonus for a multiple barred pieces, Prime, Semi-Prime or Gammon. Why is that? ✓ Download Dicewords now!A while ago when I read other rather critical reviews of this backgammon app, I agreed that it might be deliberately manipulating the dice rolls in its favour (I've only ever played solo against the app on 'hard' setting). It's true that it does have an uncanny knack of rolling very convenient numbers, but I've become much more skilled at the game now and generally win most matches against it these days. Originally I thought I would give up on it after a while, but I ended up buying the full version - so I guess that says it all. Graphics are nice and it works well. My only criticism is that there should be a 'forfeit' button you can tap, so you don't have to play out a hopelessly lost frame. Check out Dicewords too - it's brilliant!.Version: 1.45

It is somewhat frustrating to play a well thought out match only to lose it due to the computer rolling doubles 4 times out of 6 rolls. I also question the randomness of some of the other rolls when it’s tight or the computer is behind… if you roll in a way that forces you to open up a piece, the computer seems to almost always magically roll that number. However, it is just a game and you know when you’ve won on your strategy and merits and the loss is bogus…. So overall it’s still fun to play..Version: 2.03

✓ AI needs to pay attentionI paid to get rid of ads because this is the best app out there for Backgammon. However, I would like it much more if abject stupidity was written out of the play on the highest level. AI loses too many games, and even matches, to me because it can't think to move out of my end. Or, with better moves available, she exposes a couple of singles while I'm on the bar!? Also, not random enough! There are way too many useless doubles rolled while on the bar, both for me and my opponent. Why? Either write a higher level of play or rewrite with random rolling. A computer should be able to beat me at least 60% of the time just on random rolling. If I can achieve 50/50 I would consider myself genius. But, beating the computer 60% as I do, that's not right. The game works smoothly on iPad and iPhone, though for some reason, if I roll 2-1, 3-1, 4-1, etc. and play first the larger die, it will play the one as well as if I wanted it. On the small screen I find it difficult sometimes to choose something close to the edge of the screen. Still, I like the game. I recommend it. It can be better. Please work on it..Version: 1.45

This is especially annoying when you want to play a strategic game. (2) There is no “resign from current game” button. Or if there is, it is so well hidden that I have been unable to find it. (3) When you opt to play the “hard” (game) setting, the computer does not alter its playing strategy to a more sophisticated level, so that good player might learn how to improve his/her own game. Instead, the dice show a succession of double numbers for the computer, thereby giving it the advantage. I have played at least 20 successive “hard” games and this has always been the case! (4) the beam of light (showing the moves) may be useful for beginners but it slows the game down unnecessarily for serious players. (5) When I PAY for the App, I REALLY dont want or need ads ! ✓ Computer rolls are a little unbelievableIf you want to learn how to count moves and take chances on open pieces you are not going to get a lot of practice. However, if you want to learn how to play as conservatively as possible then play this apps computer. If you leave one of your pieces vulnerable the computer WILL roll to knock you out. When you play an actual person you see that on one is that lucky. I will say you strengthen your skills because zero chances in this game are tolerated against the computer. Would prefer to have access to Rules it plays by, and 1-2 more options (game can force you to move 1 dice - say when it's been taken off the board - whereas you'd prefer to move the other dice number to get on the board. ✓ Great - Happy to pay for this one!You can turn off the sound, I play silently, and you can double more than once, if the score will take it! Minor bug in that a 1 will often assume its move, no problem though as that's when I use the undo. Would be an improvement if you could resign when you are being thrashed. I sometimes thought it was cheating, but nowadays win more often so think I might have just been a bad loser! Really good game. Only decent one I've found. Thanks..Version: 1.21

✓ BackgammonA good game giving hours of challenge and fun! Some areas to improve: At 14 doubling dice cannot be seen or used by player but machine can use it! On first throw to decide who goes first there is never the same score for each player with the double then moving on; clearly this means the first roll is not random. It would be good to have game series beyond 15 and also to collect stats of how each player has done over time. Also good to improve the strength of the machine. Occasionally there are really random decisions when it seems to suddenly decide on a back game. Final throw with one chip insists on taking the lowest dice throw even if the larger number will finish the game! Overall very good game!.Version: 1.21
