✓ Wimpy AttitudeThe app refuses to just download the encyclopedia of all images so it does so on the fly instead and this of course renders it so slow that the highly pixelated thumbnails take forever to load for each and every artist. Then there's no way to favorite genius or defavor scribble art. I'll find a web site instead, I guess. Actually, Art Authority is everything this broken app should be, and is actually fast and thus fully usable. Wikipaintings is also too slow for reasonable browsing..Version: 3.6.2
✓ Shockingly full of errors - should be taken off the ap storeThis ap is terrible, and has been put together by a bunch of profit hungry philistines. It is full of mis information about art history. For example listing Lucien Freud as a surrealist and Francis Bacon under cubism!!! It is simply wrong .I know as I've been studying art for 8 years. DO NOT BUY THIS App, if you want to learn about art buy " art since 1900 "by Hal Foster and co or Story of Art by Gombrich. this should not be for sale on the app store..Version: 0

✓ IPhone backup grinds to halt with this appBought Art Authority, but had to remove it because in iTunes 9.1, backing up my iPhone 3GS (as part of a routine sync) has ground to a halt. I've tried removing Art Authority and syncing / backing up. Very quick. After re-installing Art Authority (and opening it so it can set itself up) - unusably slow. I have to abort the backup every time. I've tried adding and removing the app a few times, and the results are consistent. I'm only posting this here because the authors have failed to respond to my Bug report, which I posted on their support forum 13 days ago. Hopefully they will notice this..Version: 0
✓ Rated "0" for deceitThis appears exactly the same as Art Envi. They never tell you that it is...nor do they tell you it isn't. Instead they entice you to spend your dollars 2x on the same app with different names. Apple should do something about this..Version: 0
✓ Female artists?There's really no excuse for including so few female artists in this app. Do you need help researching; there are plenty of them from the neoclassical period on, and a few others before them as well.Also, you've lumped the neoclassical period together with the late Baroque and early Romantic periods. Where are the Russian artists? Why so few examples of modern art from the 1950's on? Your app is really good, but these oversights are inexcusable and unfair..Version: 3.6.2
✓ So bads UIReally want to like this app but the UI stands in the way. Unnecessary delayed transitions, inconsistent colors, art obscured by captions, and bad toolbar icons. Could also use easier way to switch between view and thumbnails. And oh the iPad edition even worse !.Version: 3.3.3

✓ I paid a lot for this app thinking I could learn a lot...I was wrong.I've never paid so much for an app that's really not that good. It's never crashed on me yet, but I still have little desire to ever use it. The quality of the pictures just isn't the same, the mona Lisa example they use is an exception. As well as that it's just annoying! Captions don't come up for long enough and when I try to change the settings, I don't know what to change because words are missing and they make no sense. I'd give this one a miss, unless they update it well...when they do, I'll rewrite my review..Version: 3.3.3

✓ Decent but limitedThis app delivers a good overview of art collected into its major periods. The interface is easy to use. I had expected more and better functionality given its significantly higher than average price. Each piece of art is downloaded from the Internet each time as required. I would have liked to have seen the app's selected "overview" pieces included automatically. This also means that things can be slow: I was looking for a particular Rembrandt painting. It took four minutes for the large number of Rembrandt thumbnail sketches to download so I could find the one I wanted. There is no index of painting names. Thus I cannot use this app to look up a specific painting referenced in a book I am reading. I might want to compare how different artists handle the portrayal of David and Goliath but there is no way to do so. Having found a painting of interest, there is no "tell me more" function. Instead, there seems to be of a link to Wikipedia about the art movement of that time period or an app-specific link to information about the artist. In short, the app offers some value relative to reading Wikipedia or googling an artist's name but not as much as it should..Version: 0

✓ Not nearly as great as I was expectingDespite the reputation and status of this app, it is surprisingly limited. The name really has to be incorrect!! Two of my favorite artists have ZERO, yes ZERO paintings listed, Rene Magritte and Salvador Dali are not listed in the Surrealism section, they are both surrealists!! I am sure many many other obscure artists can not be possibly be in this app if those two universally known artists are absent from this app. How can they call this app Art Authority?!! Additionally, I searched the app thoroughly and could not find a place that you can actually search by the artist name or painting name by typing the name. How complicated or difficult can it be to add this feature, really how can this be missing!!!.Version: 3.6.1

✓ Unbearably poor quality!The quality of the images is unbearable. It's an iphone for God's sake, not a 46 inch plasma. I would expect that at least on a 4 inch to see an image without seeing the pixels. In fact, the pixels are so big that it takes away a large part of the joy of viewing representations of paintings. And remember, this is painting, where color and detail make the whole difference. I understand that this is an iphone and that the resolution is optimized for it. But it is not optimized. The quality is well below what is even acceptable. It does not take a large amount of pixels to have a clear image on an iphone. This app fails utterly at what it tries to accomplish, which is give some pleasure to the user without frustration Don't waste your money!.Version: 0

✓ THE CAPTION BAR NEEDS TO GO AWAY !!!!!!!These pictures are of awful quality, and THE CAPTION BARS NEED TO GO AWAY!!!!!!!!! The pictures are hard to see. Other apps just have the picture and you just swipe to get the next one. I really don't need to be reminded every single picture of what type of painting I'm looking at. It would be sufficient to see the paintings name and the artist by tapping the screen. If you are looking for a specific painting or artist, it would be easier and cheaper to go on the web..Version: 3.3.3
