MIDI Memo Recorder for Positive User Reviews

Pretty cool, but could do with some additionsAs a simple midi recorder it works fine, but it could do with a few refinements, such as a all notes off command - I had a few instances of stuck notes when a sequence ended. Also a viewer to see the data as text would be nice, as well as some filtering options, and the ability to re-channelise the data, transpose options and a few other modifiers. It seems not to record all notes off command either, which is quite a limitation, for the reason above. An editor to allow embedding of midi commands would make this app more useful too. For sysex backups it works ok, but as midi performamce recorder I found it a little bit limiting, with not even basic info apart from time and size, it would be great if it had tempo, midi channel and a few other basics. I'd like to see some more apps that use the line6 hardware as it is quite practical and allows you to not have to have a computer nearby. Overall though a handy app so 4 stars from me..Version: 0

Superb, why have we waited so long?Being 'old school' and still using midi sequences, midi data recorders and floppy disks, i've been waiting for something like this to come along. Thinking that the 'midi' fraternity had been forgotten about, I was flabbergasted to read of Line6's Midi Mobilizer, and Apples Midi Memo 'app'. So went straight out and bought one, along with an ipod touch. I recorded some quite busy sequences into it, then played it back without a hiccup - superb! and almost too easy..... there must be a catch. I'll miss my Elka CR99 and boxes full of floppies..... Well done to Line6 and Apple. Thanks very much..Version: 0

Line 6 POD XT Live MIDIA must have for any one who owns a Line 6 POD XT Live. Record a riff or custom tone in a matter of seconds. I'm sure the guys over @ Line 6 are brewin up new apps with all types of goodies. Line 6 has never let me down. Their technology is always one step ahead, just check out their New Wireless Systems.....Finally someone got it right. Thanks Line 6.Version: 0

Fantastic! You gotta have this app if you've got the MIDI Mobilizer. It delivers on it's promise as the ultimate portable MIDI solution.Version: 0

Pretty goodQuite good memo/voice taking app..Version: 0

Very nice and slickThis is the most useful idea ive seen in a while. Two things IMO that would set it off are, a metronome and folders for better organization. Other than that, IT'S TIGHT Accurate play on words I must say..Version: 2.0.1

Does what it says it will do.Does what it claims to be able to do. Relevant to my needs..Version: 3.0.0

Worked fine for meI installed this app into my iphone 4 to use my new line 6 mobile keys 25. Out of the box it would not work with a 3rd party synth app saying that my device was not supported on my phone. I installed this app and updated the firmware and she works like a champ! Fast and easy. As far as the recording ability built into this app, it seems very vanilla and I don't expect to use it much..Version: 3.0.4

Great but a few "must have" feature requestsAwesome app, very user intuitive. This morning I successfully transferred a SysEx bulk dump from my old Yamaha RX11 drum machine and was able to reload it back into the RX11 just fine. I'm going to test it on the rest of my MIDI gear today. If you haven't bought the Line6 MIDI Mobilizer adapter and you have MIDI gear, do it now. But I do have a few "must have" feature requests to make it even more useful. I hope the development engineering team seriously considers and hopefully implements these in future releases: 1. Please add ability to upload MIDI files back to MIDI Memo app on iPhone/iPod from computer via the web interface or via iPhone/iPod email inbox so that users can (a) easily share MIDI files with other MIDI Mobilizer users and (b) easily load their MIDI files into another iPhone/iPod if they upgrade to a new iPhone/iPod. 2. Please add "categories" for organizing all your MIDI files. Right now, the app and the web interface only show a long flat list of all your MIDI recordings. This is cumbersome once you've got more than 10 or 20 recordings. It doesn't have to be fancy multi-level categories (although that would be nice). Just a simple editable list of categories that shows up in both the app and the web interface similar to how Bias implemented categories in iProRecorder would be great. 3. Please add ability to edit the MIDI Memo app "database" so users can delete MIDI files and edit the metadata like "filename" (and "category" as described above) via the web interface. 4. Please use consistent port number. I can't bookmark the web interface URL from my computer because the app seems to pick a random port number which is annoying because you have to go look up the port number in the "About" screen of the app everytime. It would be better to use the same port number consistently so on the computer you can simply bookmark the URL. The port number should probably be a user-defined variable setting in case other apps are also running a web interface. I'm not talking about the IP address, I have my iPhone forced to a static IP address. I'm talking about the port number (the number after the last colon in the URL). 5. Please add ability to run web interface in background after exiting the app. The web interface stops running when you exit the app. It would be nice to be able to let the web interface run in the background even when you exit the app so you can access the MIDI files from your computer whether or not the app is running. Perhaps this is dependent on the new iPhone OS 4.0 with multitasking? -Tony.Version: 0

Midi MemoABOUT TIME!!! After over a year we now have a version that works. I have now deleted the beta version you sent me back in Oct in favour for this version. It’s now a cracking little bit of kit, no legacy problems, it cope with more than 13 files, which the old version couldn’t! Its fast, the GUI is easy to understand, I love the big buttons. The only thing that lets it down is that you have to load files in real time so very time consuming..Version: 2.0.3

Midi memoSimple but it works. You have to play your computer's midi track and record it onto the phone in real time. No way I can see of transferring midi files. Once the song is on there its one button control makes it simple for playing backing tracks in a live situation. Not sure yet what happens if you receive a call or text while in the middle of a song. Will have my lap top with me as a backup just in case. Looking forward to upgrades or new software to rum the Midi Mobilizer..Version: 2.0.3

Please Update this app and the Mobilizer Firmware. Now that i find this app a lot more usefull... Can you please update the export options and add Dropbox Support or the ability to copy the file to Airsharing or similar app? The Mobilizer is a little shaky with handling a lot of notes. Please give it a look see. iPadHD Update would be cool too. Bless your heart'.Version: 0

Great start! Finally something to replace my fading Alesis Datadisk! At this point I'm only using this as midi data storage for a drum machine. It didn't upload the info from the drum machine quite as smoothly as I would have liked - some 'sets' took several trys before loading correctly. Now that they are all loaded, they seem to transfer back to the drum machine okay (no problems yet). I'l drag the datadisk to the next couple of gigs just in case. Like Tony mentioned, a simple folder system would be nice. In fact, I like all of his ideas! BTW, the files don't seem to appear on the memos list in the same order I loaded them nor alphabetical.?? Great start to a very useful app but certianly some room for improvement..Version: 0

Must HaveThe Line 6 MIDI Mobilizer and this MIDI Memo Recorder are must haves for any musician working with any gear the has a MIDI interface. I wish more developers would build apps for the MIDI Mobilizer because it's the most portable way to use MIDI. No need for computers, I have a MIDI controller in my pocket..Version: 2.0.3

AwesomeGreat concept. It delivers. Nothing bad to say. Only thing I'd add is an optional scrolling textual midi message monitor mode lol. But only if it can be turned off..Version: 3.0.0

All You need from a simple MIDI librarian.I think this turned out to be one of the most handy music tools for ios I have. Installed and got it working with the mobilizer 2 on both the ipad2 and iPad touch - recording, saving and sending sysex dumps in about a minute. At first I thought installing it in order to use the mobilizer was an obtrusive nuisance but I'm using this a lot as a backup buffer when sound designing, so it's turned out to be really a nice bonus app with the mobilizer..Version: 3.0.0

Solves a need brilliantly, a few more features pleaseFor years I've wanted something that could quickly record an idea I had on my Yamaha Disclavier, a piano with Midi. All laptop solutions sucked because by the time I booted up, started a sequencer, configured it, got it ready to record...the inspiration was gone. And if a new virus pattern had to be downloaded, arrgghh. This thing is absolutely immediate. Instantly works. (this says something about the whole idea of apps versus a bloated, general purpose PC). For me, I would like what the other reviewer requested: a way to get existing midi TO this app. And his categorization ideas is good. Otherwise, I am extremely happy with tnhe concept and it makes a great use of old iPod Touches or iPhones when you upgrade to new ones..Version: 0

Best thing since sliced breadTo someone with a twin tube rack mount that hasn't been able to remember its own name since I bought it over 20 years ago, the idea of a pocket device that I can dump and pull sysex data to is awesome. Now I can program the midi preamp however I want and not worry about the memory..Version: 3.0.4
