KORG iM1 for Positive User Reviews

Love it!!!This is my go-to whenever I make a beat!.Version: 1.0.6

SpectacularThis is the one we've all been waiting for and it delivers everything we expected and more.Version: 1.0.1

Simple simply amazingThis device is lightweight and full of presents. It is amazing.Version: 1.0.6

Yeah!Finally it all makes sense.....Version: 1.0.5

Great AppIt's very clever how the Kong M1 synthesiser has been recreated in software. I like how the sound cards with additional sounds have been included as as well. It brings back a lot of memories from when I was young. It's best when linked up to a keyboard..Version: 1.0.7

Great appMoney’s well spent..Version: 1.0.7

A dream come true!!!!!Amazing...amazing....amazing!!!!!! Must have it!!!! Well done!!!!!! Thanks!!!.Version: 1.0.1

Simply greatI was not a big fan of the original. But, this new and improved version works very well on a newer iPad. Lots of synth history in your hands for not much money! Can we have a sizeable keyboard though. And a scroll function for the control area. As some of it is hidden and inaccessible when the keyboard is at full size. Thanks Korg, for seeing the power of the iPad! Now, what about some other companies...Have you heard of the iPad?.Version: 1.0.1

Wow, I love itI got it more for the range of real instrument sounds such as piano and orchestral I'm pleased with how they sound. Really needs a master output volume as some presets are too low to be heard once you've got a backing track going and you just want to jam along. I ended up buying the MiMix audio mixer app to remedy this..Version: 1.0.4

Quite powerful, however...However.......Version: 1.0.4

A must buy if you own controllersHow could you possibly pass up a $16 Korg M1? Sounds luscious, easier to use, high dollar voice upgrades, 64 note polyphony is right out of the box. Side 1 track 1 Universe is so fun. If you're looking at it, you need it..Version: 1.0.6

ImpressedHaving used the original M1 I was dubious just how close Korg could get with an app version. No need to have worried, like all the other Korg apps I have, it really is one of my go too apps. Another reviewer said the interface does sort of put you off tweaking, but once you start fiddling it really is simple. My one gripe, though minor, is the output seems very low to me compared to other apps. That is something I can live with, but maybe a tweak in the next update?.Version: 1.0.4

Awesome Korg M1 on steroids! Are use it Korg M1 keyboard in the past. This software version sounds are very close to original my M1. Still have a Korg M1 ex (module). I couldn't tell where the difference between hardware and software and the quality iOS app sound's. There's huge convenience when you have choice to all the libraries of card's from M&T series plus your own imported sounds! Great job Korg! Mitch.Version: 1.0.6

Great soundsI wish I had found this months ago it is opened the possibility of exploration and the ability to create new sounds on my canvas thank you.Version: 1.0.6

It's as good as they sayI now only use this and SampleTank. Incredibly flexible and great sounding synth.Version: 1.0.6

Fun to play with if you don't see it as a sampler! This is the perfect synthesizer for layering sounds! I don't simply treat it as a sampler but a Linear Arithmetic and DWGS synth that can have sounds layered and split in different ways! I also find the presets and samples interesting because of their "Japanese" sound. It is also one of the few Multi-Timbral apps. This means that each preset can be assigned to its own Midi channel..Version: 1.0.6

I love the sounds available in M1! Need Audio Unit version please. This brings back classic sound from 90s dance music..Version: 1.0.10

My Go-to Synth on iOSLike many others, I have bought quite a few iOS synths. They are like jellybeans, it’s tough to stop at one. Unlike a number of other synths though, this is the synth I choose for quick renderings of ideas, or a fast patch that fills a mood. It is simple enough that I can edit and change patches relatively quickly, but versatile and rich enough to fill many needs. I will say that it doesn’t have the punch and power of the best iOS analog emulations, so you may want to add those for your muscular synth sounds. Also, many sounds are very similar to those produced by iWavestation. The difference is that iWS followed this synth and is more complex but adds greater animation to the sounds. It’s not as easy to use and program but was the next generation product (though still 25 years old). I have both products by Korg. They are well-rendered and sound amazing. Add a ballsy analog synth and you are pretty close to having it all..Version: 1.0.6

Working in the pastLove revisiting old patches, still useful, sometimes importing patches from M1 keyboard via iTunes into app - a little finicky. The app is a favourite, so I will be persevering on the data transfers. Korg would love to see more Triton/Trinity in the Korg Module app. Great job..Version: 1.0.5

AmazingIt’s all here, city pop, summer pop, beach pop, Kyoto summer jazz (pop) anything you want.Version: 1.0.10

Reliving the 80sI love this app. Google iM1 Program Change and Audio Bus 3 and you can get a list of the bank and program numbers so that you can select patches from a midi controller or other program. Hope they make this into an Audio Unit. That would be awesome..Version: 1.0.6

Cheap funThis app is my favorite. Tons of tweak able sounds and I do not need to rent a barn to store a large number of instruments ..Version: 1.0.6

Low volume and updateWhen I play live on stage, the audio is so low on the app (with the volume already turned up all the way). A volume booster would definitely be nice!.Version: 1.0.7

AmazingWith the right controller (korg micro key air, blue tooth....) it plays like the real thing....Version: 1.0.5

Fantastic!I have been a big fan of the Korg sound since the '90's and have currently been reliving those times through the iMS-20 and iPolysix. Now the Korg iM1 is simply superb. The authentic Workstation sounds are recreated beautifully. The extra soundcards provide an unbelievable expansion and are must-haves. If you're interested in synth music and keyboard playing, you should really get this. In my opinion, the Korg iM1 is the best synth app out there. Five Stars..Version: 1.0.3

Classic sound, but are paid expansions available in Gadget?Perfect reproduction on iPad. Kudos Korg..Version: 1.0.1

I want more digital/PCM stuff on IpadA rare synth app because it gives a wealth of sample data, while most synths on iPad are virtual analog there's too much of that. Would also love to see more from Korg's history of digital synths..Version: 1.0.5

Inspiring and a delight to useI have found the IOS version of the M1 very easy to use and more intuitive than the desktop version since it makes good use of the touch screen environment. I have this running as an Inter-App within Cubase and have achieved some satisfying results using a variety of different sounds. I have also found it very easy to edit the sounds and FX to make them your own. The additional sound cards were worth buying and the Korg M1 has a sonic character that can still stand out today..Version: 1.0.2

It's HearAwesome. Second KORG app I've bought, and it is rock solid. Just ordered their microKEY 25 for my iPad..Version: 1.0.2

11 Inch iPad Support.I love the sounds this makes and I love using it in Gadget. I just wish it filled my 11 inch iPad screen in standalone mode..Version: 1.0.7

SwampGasSimply Love this, just like the M1 my band played in the early 90's. The sounds bring back so many happy memories. Very realistic!!!.Version: 1.0.4

Well Done Korg..!Sounds great and it has some very deep editing parameters. No other synth sounds quite like it. Magnificent and once again well done Korg..!.Version: 1.0.5

Worth every pennyExactly what it says on the box a faithful representation of a Legendary keyboard highly recommended 👍.Version: 1.0.5

Another great Korg App but paid expansion card not working in GadgetIt's great to see cool M1 recreated on an IPad. The expansion cards are still not showing up in Gadget!.Version: 1.0.1

5/5 huge amount of preset for people who don’t know sound design like me, and super nice sounds. The presets are ultra great, I rate this 5/5 for one of the most greatest sounds that come with this app. Because some people like presets already made for them. Like me I not into sound design yet but I’m learning how to create sounds in these synths [noob at sound design]. Great app..Version: 1.0.7

Excellent SynthGreat sounding synth. Lots of presets although one could argue that many are practically duplicates with different names. Tons of tweak options and integration with Korg Gadget is a blast. My only request would be to make song selection stick with a single click and to make saving your favs more user friendly and available from any screen. Well worth your investment..Version: 1.0.2

AmazingThis is a brilliant app. I was thinking of buying a used M1 on eBay but then saw this, I decided to give it a go and no regrets. I’m now able to use my Roland keyboard as a Bluetooth midi keyboard to play the amazing sounds from the Korg M1..Version: 1.0.7

Worth every pennyEspecially love playing chords with the “choir” sample. Nothing like it on the App Store..Version: 1.0.7

It’s great, but there’s no AUv3 support stillSince Inter-App audio is being phased out, hopefully Korg is working on updating this..Version: 1.0.7

Awesome iM1 soundsI have absolutely no complaints at all with this app, In Multi-mode, the iM1 for iPad can be used as an eight-part multi-timbral sound module, so there is no need for AUv3 here, saving presets is also easy. Before I launch my DAW (Cubasis 3), I first launch iM1 (and any other IAA synths I may be using) and leave them running in the background, this way I don’t suffer audio disconnects with my DAW, the same goes for the awesome iWavestation..Version: 1.0.9

Brilliant!I have this running straight into my DAW via audiomux and I am using it constantly. Just like having the real thing, with a simpler interface, at a fraction of the price. If you have an iPad and you make music you would be silly not to buy this app!.Version: 1.0.2

Great for live performance!I am a live performer, who was looking for a synth app that I could play with my MIDI foot controller while playing bass guitar at gigs. I had downloaded three other synth apps before this, and they were disappointing because their interfaces were horrible, and they didn't do what I needed them to do. I was about to give up on using my iPad live, and was considering using my foot controller with a full-size synth instead. I downloaded the Korg iM1 app on a desperate last-attempt whim, completely expecting to be as let down as I was from the other apps. Was I pleasantly surprised! Not only did this app give me superb, easy control over sound shaping, layering, filters, effects and envelope generator, but also a highly configurable and easy-to-use MIDI interface. The app also allowed me to do some things live that I didn't think I would be able to do with my feet. (I needed to slowly raise and lower pitch in two of our songs, which I was able to program into the envelope generator, and map to custom key zones so I could isolate that effect to specific keys). The control this app gives you over MIDI configuration is great, and the sounds are rich and powerful. There is also a great interface for storing and loading your sounds. I pre-program chords into my Keith McMillen 12-step MIDI foot controller keys, and the chords play beautifully from the Korg app through the PA. I use the iM1 at every gig now, and it's such a comfort seeing it on my iPad screen as I'm about to begin a set. I highly recommend this app..Version: 1.0.4

KORG AUV3???M1, Has some great sounds, but it's about time it was updated to AUv3. I personally would not update this as I'm running iOS 12.3 And don't want to experience any issues with it. Come on KORG catch up with AUv3...... Then I'll give you 5 stars and rewrite my review until then I'm not updating just because it now works with iOS 13... IAA is being depreciated by Apple in favour for AUv3 So I won't be buying any more IAA apps........Version: 1.0.7

Is it a pure Synth? Dated? Who cares, it is a work of Art.For me, a couple of "pure" synths were 2 of the the 2014 Stars of iOS: Mitosynth, Photophore...another Korg Monster, Gadget, and the stunning FX suite, Flux were high up there last season... Cut to 2015. iM1 may well use some dated old sounds, but on my iPad, it sparkles not only as one of the most beautiful sounding Apps I own, but maybe the most stunning visual design in the history of the platform. Amazing. A Grand Slam and I doubt it will be topped in this already fantastic year for iOS music production..Version: 1.0.2

Help! Can’t save anything!I LOVE this synth module and use it all the time. But at some point, I lost the ability to save patches. I hit “Write,” then select the card and location I want to save to, double-tapping it to bring up the keyboard, but when I hit return, nothing happens! If I hit close and go back to the card, it’s just a blank preset..Version: 1.0.7

Great but need Auv3 version for Logic Pro iPadAs the title says. When I was a younger person back when the M1 first came out, all of my favorite RnB groups and producers were using the M1. The sound was incredible. But I couldn’t afford it. Now those same beautiful sounds are still great, but infinitely more affordable. The only issue I have, and this isn’t Korg’s fault, is that Logic Pro for iPad came out and it doesn’t work with this product. I’m hoping the dev retools this app to be AUv3 compatible..Version: 1.0.10

Almost perfectI love this synth, for the good sounds; but there’s no way to control master volume from my midi controller. I have in my iPad other apps like Grand Piano, It gives the option to assign a control for master volume and works perfect. Please make an update or instructions to deal with this problem..Version: 1.0.6

THANK YOU KORG !!! ☺️Finally ! Was wondering if it was ever going to happen Seems all is here from Legacy M1 & thanks for the file transfer feature ! Now please add the whole 01/W set & cards & for Legacy M1 too (Waiting FOREVER for that alone !) Sounds awesome of course And now, that the iWavestation is here ... we NEED the same file features to create iOS WS presets & take them over to Legacy Collection !!!!!!.Version: 1.0.6

Great, but it needs auv3There is no excuse for this not being auv3. This really needs an update fast. I’ll change it to five stars when it’s AUV3.Version: 1.0.10

WOW!!This is amazing! I had an original M1 and now I get it back in a portable format. Excellent. Thanks Korg..Version: 1.0.2

Superb soft-synthI'm afraid I'm no expert on the original IM-1 synth. What I can say is that this software is a joy to use. I love the sounds - there's a certain amount of repetition but no more than you'd expect on any device with a large sound bank- and regularly use them as sources of inspiration when noodling. Pick a random sound, see what ideas come ... I also find this synth pretty easy to program. Lots of synths are quite opaque when you start to learn to use them, it's hard to get results and when you do, you don't always know how you've done it. With this App, I can set out to create a sound with a reasonable expectation of actually getting there in less than a human lifetime. I own a lot of synth apps but this one has been pretty much my favourite since the day I bought it..Version: 1.0.4

Fantastic Sounds - Tricky UIUsed this as an additional sound module with my Nord Electro 5. Amazing powerful sounds but a wee bit tricky to navigate in a live situation. Programmes can be edited in great depth and detail however, I'm still trying to understand how to save edited programmes and combi's. If the save / write procedure was simplified, this app would be perfect. Having said that, the present version is still worth every penny..Version: 1.0.6

Back to 1990I saved all of my money to get a Kong M1 back in the day. I also purchased a Frontal Lobe expander with expansion cards. When that died I got a M1r. Now that has died and along comes this app to save my world! I use this on the road with our band. A controller and my iPad. Glorious. Kudos. Thank you Korg!.Version: 1.0.10

YEY :DWell its about time (now give us the LegacyCell) lol. What can i say, ok the only dissapointing thing about this was having to upgrade to iOS 8, clearly that is going to loose korg some money along with customers. Ive oddly had zero issues taking my 4th gen pad from 7. to 8.3 (even my IO Dock still works) that was a shock, but i just had to have this synth so i took the risk. Anyway the korg is fantastic and it takes me home to a time when movie scores and pop music had a few little things in common such as the M1. Ive seen a lot of negative comments around the net about it has nothing new (it does) i have also read a lot of people saying it sounds dated (its a recreation of a 1988 synth) Just what where they looking for or expecting? Bah such limited minds.. This is a Must Have for any keyboard lover. but please.. bring us the LegacyCell next and out world will be so much brighter :).Version: 1.0.1

IM1Love my M1.....Nuff said.Version: 1.0.2

Confusing as heck and the store patches should have come for freeSome of the samples sound really bad , I don’t remember the big m1 sounding like it’s been bit crushed into the dirt. Could just be me. Idk However I still love it. And yeah for 30 bucks they needed to include add on sounds for free..Version: 1.0.10

Korg M1One of the most useful synth on the market, love all those sounds and so easy to work on them..Version: 1.0.6

StellarThis has become my go to synth in my iPad-based rig. If only Yamaha and Roland would follow Korg's Lead on releasing their classic synths as apps..Version: 1.0.6

Amazing Synthesizer - still room for improvement: AU needed! We had an M1 in my school, so this this app brings back memories to me. The iM1 app offers the amazing sound and similar configuration options as the original. In particular: using combinations of sampled instruments; adding and controlling modulators to change the sound; assigning regions of the keyboard to different instruments/patches; and controlling instrument/patches by defining key pressure (initial and in some cases polyphonic aftertouch). Pressure thresholds can also be set to trigger instruments, e.g. adding or changing instruments when playing “louder” or “softer”. What is still dearly needed is an implementation of this app as an AUv3 plugin to make this great virtual instrument accessible to apps for music production such as garage band..Version: 1.0.10

Top of the 'Klass'As always top marks to Korg. Tbh if it is a Korg product, buy it. You won't be disappointed.Version: 1.0.4

Not easy for me I had a real m1 for yearsSome times the patches plug in great some don’t I purchase all cards for app I think sounds are great I would buy again.Version: 1.0.6

Really coolYou can have all the M1 sounds on your ipad! Pair it up with a midi controller and an audio interface for a really powerful sound module. Use Gadget as the sequencer and viola, there's your 90's "workstation"!.Version: 1.0.6

Easy and great soundsA great interface with many ways to tweak the sounds. Great for beginning sound designers with hundreds of patches to play and re-program..Version: 1.0.4

Universal App?It would be nice to have on the iPhone also given the power that the iPhone has now..Version: 1.0.7

My long lost beloved :'-)The original M1 was my first and best synth that I have ever owned. For years I was regretting having gotten rid of it and was over the top when Korg released the VST and bought it immediately, And now the iOS app is just plain amazing. So easy to use and over 3000 sounds to chose from, and I can take it with me everywhere! The sounds is still nothing short of spectacular and have not dated at all. They have bought back such nostalgic memories... Welcome back, my love. I am so sorry for having deserted you. You have returned more beautiful than ever....Version: 1.0.2

Please consider adding AUV3App would be much more useful if it was available as an auv3..Version: 1.0.10

Blast from the pastWhat a glorious age we live in. I used to own the original M1, and then bought the Legacy and Digital Edition VSTi as soon as it was released. Then this app is released, and instead of paying thousands for the sounds (as I did back in the day) I paid the price of a pizza for this great app. The sounds are pretty much identical to the original M1, and I've only been playing with this app for a few hours. A winner!.Version: 1.0.1

Where's the M1 card?I've been using the app for about a month now, and the iM1 card which says best collection is not accessible..Version: 1.0.10

Keep em coming Korg!Check out the YouTube review for proper in depth look at this gem. So many sounds , so little time! Was lucky enough to have the keyboard version back in the day 😀 , was obviously of its time but still held some excellent recognisable sounds, now please Mr Korg bring on the mighty Triton / Kronos and take my money now!.Version: 1.0.1

Best synth for the moneyWith all the sounds in this library the im1 will keep you busy for quite awhile, everybody trying to buy the original m1 but you get it at a fraction of the price with a Huge library, awesome !.Version: 1.0.6

IKorg M1 serious ambient Ipad performanceFor years I’ve toyed with music apps on my iPad and iPod each one provided some amount of fun pleasure and intrigue all at the same time accompanying my dream that one day these music apps would be very aligned within a classical musicians intention .few years ago music apps began to show serious dedication to the possibility that series musicians were using them .KORG is one of a handful of dedicated companies to be friend the dedicated lightweight compact portable artist like myself and offer their classic KORG M1 synth KEYBOARD in a portable downloadable iPad app form .since downloading it and learning it and custom designing the massive sound library to my ambient taste I’ve never hesitated to introduce these sounds into my live and recorded performances with confidence, with joy and with aesthetic delight..Version: 1.0.7

AUV3 PLEASE!!The M1 workstation was and remains one of my favorite platforms. Lately, I’ve been trending to a lot of my music on iOS. It’s just way more convenient to bring one, or even two iPads vs trying to arrange the perfect set of keys layouts. Especially for me since I play several other instruments and often need to bring these to live performances. I have no problem paying $40 for this particular app given the amount of power, but the lack of AUV3 support is a huge detriment. There are free synths out there like King of FM that inter operate with AU hosts and this is a game changer. With the power of the M1 sound library, I find I don’t use this app much if at all any more and it makes me sad. Please Korg we beg you - make this AUV3 compatible! For those of us that have paid for this (I bought it when it first came out) and for those that yet haven’t - I guarantee that this extension would tap into unrealized revenue for Korg..Version: 1.0.10

WinnerWarm rich sounds, taking you back in time to the golden era of dance, I now know how my favourite album got their string sounds, who knew. IM1 still has the depth to work its magic in today's grooves, with a little imagination you can create anything..Version: 1.0.2

Great sounding SynthI bought the iM1 today It was half-price off and I bought the two additional cards. Great sounding presets but the regular piano presets sound like a electric pianos even the grand piano sounds like a electric piano. It says a gigantic library encompassing 3,300 sounds well that’s incorrect and it’s way off, could be a typo. I added up all the cards except for the Library cards and the user cards and I came up with 1,569 different presets..Version: 1.0.7

I like It !Such a treasure from the past , who thought a whole m1 could fit in a iPad!. I like Korg even more now!.Version: 1.0.5

A slice of synth HeavenQuite simply, this is the best sounding synth app I've ever heard on IOS. Absolutely stunning quality, and many sounds available. Especially if you add the two expansion packs. This is worth doing at the time of writing, as Korg apps are on sale. Great for the sonic dabbler, and more serious musicians alike. Big plus, it works with the mighty AudioBus! Nic.Version: 1.0.5

New Review - still no AUv3 :(M1 was one of my favorite hardware synths. It’s one of my favorite iOS apps too but it so needs to be AUv3. C’mon Korg! I’d even pay full price for it again! Really!.Version: 1.0.9

AwesomeI have all kinds of pro keyboards. This app is great. I've used it on gigs Sounds are great and it's a reliable app. No crashes. Get it..Version: 1.0.6

Great value for a powerhouse synthA bit complex at times but it repays with great customisable sounds. Love it.Version: 1.0.6

Great addition for GadgetBrilliant synth and a great addition to Gadget - just one problem - not all the samples are appearing after installing Darwin into Gadget, and none of the two IAP packs I purchased are there either. [update] Korg (very quickly) fixed the missing cards issue, so I now have thousands of extra sounds to play with in Gadget..Version: 1.0.2

Its awesome !!!One of the best synths out there. Now, please tell me Korg why I cant play this app with Arturia Keystep midi controller ? 🧐🤔 what am i doing wrong?.Version: 1.0.6

Awesome applicationPerfect recreation of the M1. Easy interface. Works perfectly on the IPad. Awesome for live setup!.Version: 1.0.4

Amazing!Great keyboard for a fraction of the cost of the original!.Version: 1.0.7

Bloody brilliant!.This is how to make an awesome app!. Well done Korg..Version: 1.0.1

Packs a punchApologies for not reviewing sooner. As with all Korg apps, iM1 is awesome and exudes quality. Stunning range of sounds, deep as you like and works seamlessly with Gadget. Love it..Version: 1.0.5

Had the original M1This is a delight, and even when I had some missing cards, Korg fixed the problem quickly with a fast update. Wonderful....Version: 1.0.2

AwesomeI'm not the best musician, but this is a fantastic app, as other people have said, it does what it says on the box..Version: 1.0.5

Korg M1 DigitalTop form Korg....100% Fantastic App..Version: 1.0.4

Nice rackGreat app, serves me well as a rack module..Version: 1.0.5

Phenomenal !One of the best sounding synths on the App Store!.Version: 1.0.3

The M1 resurrectedA blast from the past. A true recreation of the 90's favorite synth with 32 polyphony instead of the 16 on the original M1. Please try to make a Wavestation app Korg! All the love to Korg ❤️ Update: Korg made a dream come true. The Wavestation app has been released a while ago and is as amazing as the M1 app.....Version: 1.0.7

Love it!!!Sounds great and you can have with all the cards!!!.Version: 1.0.6

Needs Auv3 support please!Great app! Good sound quality. Highly recommend it..Version: 1.0.6

It would be niceIt would be great to see more sound packages for this great software.I love the m1.Version: 1.0.7
