✓ Kudos for not abandoningI don’t know why note taking apps are so difficult to perfect but I have been searching for a long time to find a good one. A planner is not really what I am looking for but I have used this one a long time ago as a dream diary. Once I upgraded phones or ran out of room, I deleted it. Somehow it showed up on my phone again and I was surprised it was still working. Most app developers abandon their apps searching for new money makers. For someone wanting to keep their logs this is disastrous. I decided to give it a go and was excited to see an attractive user interface. It was somewhat complicated to find past notes but I had faith that I would find and get use to interface. The more I explored, I found the abilities rich with possibilities. Tabs, Tags (big fan), Sketch creator (OMG), tasks, audio, photo and documents! Then being able to sync with my phone. Looking forward to putting this on my all time favorite apps..Version: 8.9.2

✓ I've finally found a solution!For all of you searching for a replacement of your diary, or anyone who just wants to take notes in meetings, add tasks with tags, due dates and times, but also separate your different projects, this is the app for you! Stop downloading all those free apps (like I did - I've tried them all) and just fork out the money for this brilliant app! I don't usually gush about apps but after using so many apps, I always kept coming back to this one. I finally paid the money and I am so glad I did! I should have grabbed this months ago! ✓ Brilliant App!I've been looking for an app like this for about two years. I've tried tons and none combined the journal function with task management the way I wanted them to, but this one does! Love it. The only thing I'd like to see added is the ability to select 'weekdays' under the 'recurring' function. Hopefully that gets included in an update. As a small aside, I found this app by searching to see what else the makers of Noteshelf had done. That app is awesome too - really nice digital ink and super customisable. I use it for studying Japanese as well as for general note-taking..Version: 5.1
✓ Nothing quite like itIn some ways this should be a four star review, as there are some notable tweaks waiting to be implemented. BUT, none of them get in the way of the core functionality of the app, which provides a format that no other note taking app does, namely the way it organises notes by date against a visual calendar, combined with easily accessible visual tab buttons. Its kind of like a Filofax meets a tabbed note book, thoughtfully laid out and aesthetically pleasing. This way of organising may be niche, I’m not sure, but it’s just what I was looking for. When I’m organising the classes I teach I find it very difficult to group my notes together out of visual context of when I’m teaching them. I organise myself by being able to see information in relation to the time it’s needed. It’s too abstract otherwise and gets weighty and confused. There are several areas I need that info to occupy, and I need to keep sight of them and be able to switch readily between them, so the tabs are perfect, especilly as going to a tab highlights the days in the calendar where their are notes which match; I really need to see my notes in that context! I agree with an earlier reviewer that it would be good to be able to view notes grouped together separate from the calendar, but the absence of that functionality isn’t the deal breaker for me that it is for him, as it doesn’t address the core reason I like this app, and I think it’s wrong to say it’s a fundamental flaw of the app. It has a certain M.O and adding that functionality would deepen it’s usefulness and take it to a wider audience, but it’s absence is not contrary to the app’s reason for existing. Other desired functionality would be the ability to view more than one tab on the calendar at once. But neither of these last two ‘misses’ are why I think in some ways it should be a four star app. Here are the reasons for this: The keyboard they’ve chosen is not the modern one that Apple uses elsewhere in iOS. It’s clunky. They haven’t taken advantage of the Apple Pencil to create inline handwritten notes and doodles. You draw these in a separate window and then they show up as thumbnails at the bottom of the note. They should at least show up inline with the note. These last two things may seem smaller than the other things I mentioned, but they’re about the basic quality of the app, not extending it’s functionality. The devs may have reasons to not implement the bigger functionality suggestions I mentioned, but these last two are basic opportunities all note taking apps should be taking if they want to stay relevant, so I hope this app does soon. Otherwise, I’m really grateful this app exists, like I said, there’s nothing else out there that meets this particular note taking need..Version: 8.9.1

✓ Awesome IntegrationI was looking for an app that would allow me to take Notes, Journal, create action items for follow up and this hit the mark. It is very intuitive and yet powerful enough to create separate tabs for my different projects. I utilize the color coding of the tabs to separate Work and Personal. I love that you can arrange them in any order too... The search function works great and you can also tag items and create new tags to use. I recently used this to capture notes and calculations from a meeting and then e-mailed them (via PDF), very helpful!!! Maybe I just haven't figured it out yet, but I would like to be able to choose the default e-mail sending from within this app different than what is defaulted on my iPad. ✓ Daily NotesVery good app but with glitches and scope for future development * text formatting can get ‘forgotten’ half way thru a sentence which means going over it again to add the formatting a-fresh * for some reason highlighting text causes the page to flick relentlessly up and down making it impossible to format text unless the external key board is attached then everything functions ‘properly’ (weird) * when working between this and another app on return to Daily Notes it invariably defaults to ‘today’ which means that you have to re-locate the notes or plans on another date to continue: frustrating * the tasks feature is very welcome but some form of folders or categorisation would go a long way to making this the ‘must have’ app * a week and month view would be seriously helpful, maybe with a side panel for the selected days entry * a tasks only view would be seriously helpful, ditto * more text formatting features would be good * when using the highlight feature using the same colour on more than one entry for some reason you have to use another colour on the second entry then re-do it to the colour used on the first entry - frustrating * it has crashed twice but all the data entries were still there * the capacity to attach documents would be an exceptionally useful upgrade - photo’s are OK for the family diary but for more objective use such as meeting agendas it limits itself unnecessarily * hyperlinks would add a lot of functionality Otherwise ... really good ... but it does need to get to the next level DBW.Version: 8.9.2
✓ My default note taking appI have tried various note taking apps - all the most well known and some more obscure ones too. And I'm still an avid user of pen, pencil and paper notebooks! But this app is the most user friendly. It doesn't take ages to load, I like the simplicity of the passcode and there is enough flexibility for my purposes. The umbrella date/diary format mirrors my way of searching and recording, but the search and tag facilities both work well. Having persevered for years I've come to the conclusion that I don't like the iPad for handwriting and drawing, so the ease of typing and choice of typefaces is great. The app is all the better since the developers improved the look of it a year or so ago to make the colours more subtle. Don't use the tasks so can't comment on those. To make it perfect, I would like to be able to use it on my Mac however..Version: 8.5.1

✓ Simple and yet strong, brilliant!!Daily Notes is like a paper diary and a pen - simple but strong in such a flexible way. There are a few bells and whistles like photos, audio etc but the true strength of Daily Notes is it still a diary. I keep looking at new products but they spend too much time on the bells and whistles and lose the strength of the diary. I've kept this one for a long time and can't see anything to replace it yet. I recently synced with iCloud for the first time in a long time and found notes from 2010. I highly recommend this app. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Update: Jan 2021 - app has been updated so hopefully it is not disappearing any time soon :) Update: May 2019 This app has not been updated for a while so I hope it is not a dying app but really my comments above still stand. ✓ Great JournalI use this to keep track of projects and tasks run in the office. It has great search-ability. Looking forward to the iPhone release so I can easily set tasks and journal / plan for the next day when my iPad is not with me. Suggestions for future enhancements: 1. Be able to create custom searchings for tags. eg, I use a to-do tag for pages that I need to follow up on. I then generate a search with this tag in the filter. Would be nice if I can do this as a 1 click. 2. Log work based on tab/title. That is I may have a tab that could be for a department, and then have a title for the project. In there it would be nice if anything I log can be a page for each. Then I can look for the title and see it all. 3. Tie the tasks to the pages so that I can simply embed a task to remind me within the page so whatever I log - I only have to do it once. ✓ Best note taking applicationEven before this new update I found it to be the best note taking app around. I had trialled many! I didn't want a handwriting app - as I can type quickly - and need my notes to be transportable - via email, pdf and backup. This application provides the easiest way to keep all your notes in one place! Custom tabs is great, and the way it arranges all notes via Dates - was exactly what I needed! Whether it be in meetings, consults, phone calls, sessions, To Do Lists / Tasks for myself.... when I wrote paper notes the first thing I would write is the date! This app means I don't have lots of pads, note books, and post it notes everywhere - AND I don't have to retype or transcribe my notes!!! New version brings multiple notes for each date New version brings bullet points, and different formatting options New version brings DROPBOX backup! even now if I want to add a photo I can. In meetings I use this app - and then at the end of the meeting - email my entire team - so they all have instant knowledge! No more transcribing! Searches are easy, interface works really well. ✓ Great AppI tested a few other diary apps and this one has it over the rest of them in my opinion. Easy to use, love the ability to have different tabs which allows me to document work, personal life, etc separately. The search feature works great, I am able to find the relevant entries very quickly. The only further thing I would like to see is the ability to attach pictures to entries. This is common in many other offerings, and something I didn't think would be all that useful but after having used this and gotten into keeping a diary, I have found several instances were attaching an image would have been very useful. All in all this is a great app that does what it is supposed to in an easy to use and efficient manner. Keep up the great work!.Version: 0

✓ Best note taking appThis is as good as others have said. I've tried dozens of note taking apps, the majority of which are poor value even at 99c Daily Notes integrates note capture with timeline and task management in a wholly satisfactory way (although the ability to sync tasks to Toodledo would be a huge improvement - currently not using tasks due to that shortcoming, because I need my tasks synced to laptop, desktop and phone in addition to the iPad). In use, the app is nice and friendly and, as a user of textexpander, I really appreciate the integration with that life-saving utility (I wish Apple mail would integrate Textexpander!!! ) Minor niggle for me is the calendar not being hide-able in landscape, but that's reasonably innocuous. Give me syncing tasks to the cloud and I'm awarding five stars. Currently can only manage 4.2.Version: 4.0

It has truly made my day to know that you are still supporting this unique and fabulous app, since it had become quite slow and glitchy. I absolutely love this app and have used it for 6+ years. ✓ Daily Notes!!I have downloaded at least 4 different note taking apps since having I pad ( around 2.5 years) and I have to say this is by far the easiest to: - navigate - personalise - organise I liked it so much I bought it twice. Once for my personal I pad and one for my work I pad. Cannot fault it. I particularly like the way you can send pages to others and also they way you can import pictures into pages. I use it for everything it's like having an eternal a4 pad Keep up the good work. What would make it a 5? Well hard to say, but I guess that being pernickety the keyboard gets in the way of tracking what you have written sometimes when in landscape mode. If you are not a great typist like me, then you go back to review what you've written and then find you have to edit it as you've made loads of mistakes!! ✓ Best Diary/JournalHas everything you need and still has a great UI (User Interface) which is important. Closest App I've found to the old paper Diary/Journal. It will now replay voice recordings back through earphone socket which was a problem previously , calendar across top needs to have bigger font, and it would be nice if it synced with Calendar on my iPad. Also to make it truly awesome if you could elect for tasks to appear on the day sheet for which it is dated for. This would same having to enter twice. Otherwise I love it. Still the best. One thing I find is still not optimal is that formatting options are very limited: you can choose one font type for title and one for body text. I always came back to this one. The new upgrade adds just about every new feature I wanted: bullet points, multiple notes per day, a simple task manager. I was very excited to see this arrive, albeit a few months late! Other journals are too much like journals, full of long boring lists badly laid out. I have pretty much the ideal note-taking app now. ✓ Rock solid note taking AppThis is a great app for recording minutes, meeting notes, etc. Ability to instantly email notes with one click makes promulgating notes a breeze. The Tasks list is a handy feature, but Tasks cannot be emailed or linked to the notes (although it can be tagged) which limits this option. Also we are not all American so a British or custom dictionary would be helpful. Besides these minor issues it is a solid 5 star app, and with a few tweaks it could be 6 stars!.Version: 4.0

Please keep up the work! - Update : after new IOS Update : constantly crashes, unable to update - please fix. I will leave current 5 star rating, but will update if developer is able to address issue . - Update:very responsive developer after description of IOS 11 issue , fixed everything in a short time frame. Thank you - highly recommend application! 12/18 App still works without any flaws. But : last update was one year ago - is developer still supporting the App.?. Brief Response would be appreciated. Still this is my workhorse. The tabs help me categorise these topics and the app is visually appealing and really enjoyable to use. We have set up five tabs to use to keep things organized and between the two of us we keep things up to date. I like that the backup is easy to use and be recovered. We run two IPads and two iPhones. Only thing I would like is if they could add more years back as it only goes to 2011 and I've been emptying old non working journal apps into this one. ✓ Great for daily journalingI’ve used this app for over 8 years to record my Bible study and prayers, along with sermon and meeting notes. The coolest thing is being able to look back over time and see my progress (how long I maintained daily Bible study and prayer time) but also as a journal to see what things I had studied or prayed for in the past. As I review meeting notes and other documents I can define tasks and I only have one place to look. The tabs allow different work and personal categories to be defined, you can email documents directly from the app and the whole thing is searchable. ✓ Has replaced my paper padUpdate: I moved away fork having a tablet for a year and changed a number of workflows. The biggest single thing I missed was this app, for everything else I found a different way of working. Returning to a tablet and finding this now has two integration with Evernote? I have moved this to 5 stars even though it's not perfect, there's just nothing else like it. Previously: While not perfect, yet, this has now replaced my 'paper pad' and I use it for all recording of daily notes with a tab for Work, Client, Home and Study. I was sick of losing paper notebooks or completing them and not having access to my notes. This is a fairly future proof system as well because I email each of the daily notes to myself so even if I stopped using the app I would still have my notes. I would love to see Task integration with ToDo or other apps or an ability to email tasks as I could then email them to ToDo (it would be a workaround not a solution) I would add that it takes a little while to get used to this but remember you can export and use elsewhere. A couple of bugs though, the recent update omits the ability to paste text from other apps. I'm convinced I used to be able to do this. Daily Notes and Todo is the closest I've found to doing everything I need and want. It's flexible way of organising notes and todos means I don't lose track of things after a week. I now use it exclusively in my shorter meetings and daily activities. It not quite suited for minute taking in long meetings but I'm extremely happy with what it can do for me. ✓ Most used appI got this years ago on my first iPad. It syncs so, updates info with your phone. You set up tabs for whatever topics you want to work on. Notes, work, journal, ideas and anything you want. Then you open a tab to get your thought down, later open another tab, and so on. It even has a time stamp button. The real beauty of this app is when you go into the search mode. Maybe you want to look up vitamin C. It will show you everything you wrote about vitamin C and since it’s a calendar based entry, you can track yourself. I recommended this to a friend just now, and I told her that I literally use this every single day. It allows you to copy in photos and web links and other stuff you might love, or that might help your job or project. Personally I just text and tab. You can obviously create your own hashtag type system for topic searches. I don’t do anything special, just think of a keyword. I journal on paper, but if It’s something important this is where it goes. Plenty of ways to back it up so your info is safe. I call this my “learn thyself” app..Version: 8.9.2
✓ Great App Despite Initial problems with the Apple Smart Keyboard on iPadI purchased this as a NoteShelf 1 & 2 customer. Initially, I could not get it to support the Apple Smart Keyboard despite reboots. At some point, it finally clicked. It’s iPad interface is very easy to use but the iPhone interface seems limited, at least to me as a new user (how do you go move to the next date with an entry, how do you add tags?), so I may have failed to use the iPhone version properly. The iCloud Sync has so far worked flawlessly. Unexpected things happen, observations are made, etc. that do not have the best place for tracking. I put them here and will later figure out what to do with them. A very useful productivity app. As with all third party apps, keep backups as regular notes in trusted apps (e.g. Pages, Notes, etc.). I have tried other productivity apps and had Toodle Do however Daily Notes makes it easy. I am in a job where I need to make notes on what occurred during the day that I can refer back to for reference. ✓ Easy to useI just bought this today and spent some time setting it up. For help with that go to settings, then tap help at the bottom and go to Knowledge base. It gives all the help you need to set this up. I have found this much easier to use than the TO DO app I have been using. Everything is right there - no moving from place to place to find tasks - just hit the task button and it lists everything by date due - even tells you what tab it is listed under in case you made some special notes there. ✓ ExcellentI have used this app every work day as my note taking tool since last July. It does everything I want and is a direct replacement for a pad and pen in meetings. Ok, you look a bit of a tool but then I am a consultant :-) Having quickly toyed with the new version it isn't massively improved graphically on retina display as pretty much all the fonts and graphics were upgraded on the new screen already. It is nicer to look at though. However, I am pleased that the funny shaped password screen has changed though it is now upside down like a calculator (number pad) rather than like a telephone keypad. Also, when u add a sketch u can't easily delete it. There appears to be no option. However, I did find a workaround that if you then add a picture (I usually photograph business cards onto the page - told you I was a tool :-)) then delete that it then allows you to delete your sketch afterwards. Weird little bug. Overall, worth 5 stars from me. I suppose it would be nice to have the app as an iPhone capable app too, if only to be able to search previous note entries if not carrying iPad around. Maybe next time..Version: 5.0

The ability to transfer notes to Evernote is valuable and means that notes are kept for future reference in the app and in your Evernote account. ✓ One of my best App Store purchases everHonestly, this app has been a godsend for me. As a teacher, I've got to keep track of multiple classes, two coaching gigs and an evening job. This app allows me to keep a journal for each, complete with attachments and todos. Each notebook presents the day as a fresh page for me to record what I did. The bold and text highlight options are awesome. If I want to quickly know what I previously entered, say my last class entry, the handy outline view allows me to quickly see past days in that particular notebook. That helps me keep track of what I've completed on previous days, so I track assignments and incrementally increase my class count without much fuss. The app looks great and works great on both iPhone and iPad. The only real weak point is that sync can occasionally be problematic. It could still be improved but is good enough to use as it is. Would like some more options - like ability to choose default font - at the moment creating a new tab defaults to the widely hated Marker Felt, but at least you can easily change it so its not a deal breaker. ✓ Reliable and a joy to useI've been using this app for around 4 years and not once has it lost any of my data; solid, reliable, and, since recent ipad 3 purchase, being able to run the very upgraded version is amazing. As an artist, I need a diary where I can include the day's art, and this is the only diary that does that easily and the most visually; you can see 6 photos along the bottom always, and more roll on, plus you can press and scroll through the full page photos. Every occasional blue moon I wonder if there's an even more creative diary around, but there really isn't one that is creative and such quality and reliability; I always end up more grateful for this one ... thanks! 🎨😀👍🏻.Version: 8.6
✓ Franklin Covey fanI've been searching and spending for years trying to find a digital equivalent to my Franklin Planner. While this is a very close approximation, it isn't an exact fit. It does what I need it to do in an efficient way, though. And it syncs with my phone, which seems like it should be simple, but surprisingly is the the feature that fails in most of the apps that I've tried. I plan on my iPad but track execution on my iPhone. I use it for work, home, kids and it allows me to keep track of those areas separately but displays an integrated task list. ✓ Daily notesI love this app, this is the first time I have ever left a review on a purchased app and have bought hundreds. I use this as a dairy every day, I highly recommend it to anyone looking at replacing there desk diary. With the addition of the task pad it's even better. I have been using this everyday for about the last 10months and has never crashed or lost anything I've entered. If there was one thing I could ask for it would be to add the words from the contact names into the dictionary, as I deal with a lot of different clients business' names the dictionary changes the words and place names and when I review properly at the end of the day a lot of words have changed after I've written them and been missed. How ever that's being very picky this is a brilliant application and improves my iPad 10 fold, don't know what I would do with out it...Version: 4.0
