Noteshelf 3 for Positive User Reviews

Fantastic for what I needI use the app for password protected documents and it has been perfect for that. I also love the daily gratitude journal because it allows you to click on notes pages in a calendar view using some automatic in-app hyperlinking which is very cool. Would recommend!.Version: 1.1

AwesomeI was a little Leary to try it because I love note shelf 2 and change is not always good developers over complicate and take great things away! I was absolutely impressed and now love this version even more there are some things I hope they bring back but I love it!! Noteshelf is the best note taking app I have ever used - none compare to this! I recommend it highly! You won’t be disappointed.Version: 1.1

I loved Noteshelf 2 . . .I have been a loyal Noteshelf user for many years. As a child psychologist, I am a daily user. I loved Noteshelf 2 and really valued the flawless functionality of the app. As such, I was excited to see the update to Noteshelf 3. While there was no learning curve for N2, which I belived was the best note taking app on the market, I am still working to master N3. I do not find the design as intuitive, but I am learning new things over time. Today I attempted to rearrange a couple of pages only to have one permanently delete! I hope that I can figure out how to avoid that in the future..Version: 1.5.7

Wonderful! But…Hello! I was a Noteshelf 1 and Noteshelf 2 user but very dismayed to see I would have to pay for Noteshelf 3 to get all Notebooks migrated over… Without seeing the initial payoff, I just kept both. So my concerns are similar to what “eagleeyekat” said in Review on Nov 27- since I use this daily (well, I WANT to use the 2024 planner daily) I really hate that I can’t use the Notebook offline and then have the changes synced when I do Connect to wifi. I can be online but when I open Noteshelf 3 my Notebook is in the cloud and I have to re-download it. This takes time and is frustrating to do each time. I checked and have plenty of space on my device and in the Cloud. Thank you for looking into the fix!.Version: 1.4.3

Absolutely Love this! The best!Ever since I bought my first iPad (the first iPad) I have wanted a nice clean, clutter free not taking app. I've bought them all (GoodNotes, Penultimate, Noteshelf, Notability and all the rest - including whiteboards etc) and many have got overpriced, adopted subscription models etc but none have improved in terms of being a nice clean, clutter-free notebook... But NoteShelf has ticked all boxed. Version 2 was already very nice but version 3 is absolutelt the best of the bunch. I love the read only view when I just want to flick through notes and the completely hidden toolbar and, when writing notes, the toolbar is minimal. If I could add one thing it would be a couple more quick access colours but that really is nit picking..Version: 1.5.7

Noteshelf 3 is the best because…I’m a long time user. This is app is the perfect marriage between functionality and esthetics! It helps you go far with productivity… without overloading you with features. It’s pleasant to use while giving you tools to make both art and science. And if you are an Evernote user, no other note-taking app integrates with the green elephant like this one. Beautiful, productive, and satisfying..Version: 1.3.5

Excellent AppI tried this latest version 3 and like it😊 I paid for the one time upgrade and use the Midnight Planner. However on custom template on Cornell I want to change the body colour to Pale Blue, but I am stuck with pre built black or cream. I should be able to change colour of the paper in pre built pages. Let me know. Thanks - Mohan.Version: 1.2

Really like itI tried it after using GoodNotes 5 for 2 years. So far, I’m really enjoying Noteshelf 3. It has a simple and intuitive interface, offers a pleasant writing experience, and the AI functionality is super useful. I like to have the AI summarize some articles or chapters for me, so that I can later estimate how much time to spend on reading them in detail. Creating folders with documents is a bit less straightforward than in GoodNotes, but I just need some time to get used to it. Most importantly, Noteshelf doesn’t seem to drain my battery, not overheats my iPad (which was a problem with another app). Also, thanks for not making it a subscription based app..Version: 1.1

My daily toolHello! Thank you for this opportunity to write a review. This is a wonderful app that helps me to study, read, write and record my thoughts. I visit the app daily. I type notes from lectures. I write my thoughts in a journal. So versatile. Life’s moments can be missed easily with many distractions. This app helps me to not miss those moments. Easy to use even for me. Thank you for creating this app. I am more present than I had been in the past through some of the habits this app helped me to develop. Amazing what an app can do. Sincerely, Connie.Version: 1.4.6

Easy to useThis app is easy to use with more than enough features to make it one of my most used apps! I love the way I can organize all of my notebooks any way I want and find them easily..Version: 1.4.7

Excellent Handwriting Engine !!!Noteshelf 3 makes the Apple Pencil better than pen on paper. It’s excellent to use..Version: 1.5.10

Over all a great appOverall I enjoy it the only reason I did four stars is because I’ve encountered a few situations where my purchase stickers that worked in Noteshelf 2 won’t work on Noteshelf 3.Version: 1.4.6

The best note taking appThis is the best note taking app I have ever owned and I own a lot..Version: 1.5.6

The one for me.I’ve had an iPad since the day it was released and currently use a 4th Gen iPad Pro. I’ve tried most if not all of the main note taking apps. I have been using the v3 Beta since it came out, I found lots of problems and support are very responsive. It isn’t perfect, nothing is. But it is the best I have found. I’d love it if the Mac app would run on my iMac, ah well, I would like to be able to have internal links, hopefully they will come (none of the others have them either and I’ve looked!). But pretty much everything else I want is there. Yes a few bugs but they will get fixed. I enjoy using Noteshelf 3, it works for me. Don’t take my word, try it yourself and see..Version: 1.0

Amazing AppIf you love handwriting and /or like to make your notes look nice, or you are looking for a tool to use for research, on your iPad and/or iPhone and also like to see and edit your files on your Mac, I recommend this app, especially to people who love handwriting, marking up digital files and / or reading a pdf on your devices. I have started with Noteshelf 2 many years ago which was great, but Noteshelf 3 really hits everything I want. I also comment the suppport team and the speed of support is amazing. ;-).Version: 1.4

Love Noteshelf, it’s Fantastic…butI have been using Noteshelf since its original release. I love how forward thinking this company & app is. I recently migrated to Noteshelf3 & absolutely love most of the features. But there are a few things I wish they had kept from Noteshelf 2. My rating is really a 4.75, lol because I REALLY miss having the Date & time in the upper left hand corner. I also miss having the color wheel, I thought it was much faster & the ability to save the color to a specific pen or highlighter was fantastic. I have been using the color picker & hex color & those functions are great just need to get used to them. Thank you Noteshelf for a fantastic app..Version: 1.4.7

Good, no local save or quick syncI’ve been enjoying the change from Noteshelf 2 to 3 this far, but I’ve noticed two things that have been bugging me. The first is that downloading a notebook from the cloud is temporary: I have to take time, battery, and sometimes even data to re-download my digital planner to my phone to check my schedule. I wish I could save it once locally and be done. The second thing is that there’s no automatic update to changes across devices: when I make an edit on iPad, to see the changes on Mac I have to close and re-open that notebook. Haven’t tested whether there have been improvements to the handwriting recognition (which was an issue I had when I first downloaded NS3)… otherwise, I like this app, and I hope the developers resolve these issues soon..Version: 1.3.2

By far the best App for Note TakingI have spent more than 40,000 hours taking notes and teaching using Noteshelf 2. Thus far, it is still the best app for note taking and annotation (emphasis on annotation). I’ve paid for Notability and Goodnotes as well, constantly waiting for an opportunity to switch if either software is good enough. I’m still left waiting as Notability can’t even allow the sharing of two pages of notes in pdf format. Heck it doesn’t even show the links to the table of contents for electronic documents (wake up Notability)..Version: 1.3.5

Glad to see Noteshelf keeping upI’ve been using Noteshelf for many years. Visual design is charming and modern. Price is very fair. Now I use it a lot for taking notes on music and it’s mostly nice to use but does have some usability issues. I wish there was a way to change the width of the text after you write it. And be able to change the color quickly..Version: 1.4.8

Updated Review from Almost perfect to PERFECT for me😊Noteshelf 3 answered all my concerns/limits with Noteshelf 2! I really love it but i Need to be able to add/remove pages without going into preview mode and need to fix text box feature so you can add a default text font. The inability for the text font default to save is what keeps this a 4 star for me. Hope an update fixes this soon This update addressed my needs. Thank you for listening Noteshelf! Compared this version with Goodnotes 6 and for my Digital planning needs ,Noteshelf 3 still wins for me. Only thing missing now is drag and drop feature for stickers..Version: 1.1

Stumbled out the gate but feels good to use nowBeen using Noteshelf since version 1, and it’s taken me a while to move from 2 to 3 because things just didn’t feel right in 3 whenever I’d check in on it. But this latest check-in finally prompted me to make the move, and I’m happy with that move. Some UI changes take getting used to, and the default preferences may need tinkering, but past that I can’t find anything in NS2 that I’m doing without in NS3. It should be noted that I also haven’t found anything I want to do in 3 that I couldn’t do in 2, but maybe that’ll come in time. In the meantime, I do like the new interface more, the Mac version of app is significantly better than 2’s (which is a big deal if you like using both platforms), and I’m happy to give another $7 to keep development going after all the years I got out of 1 and 2. Anyone complaining about that needs to understand the costs of keeping software development alive (and be glad it isn’t $7 a month like so many other apps would do)..Version: 1.4.3

Simply the best app out thereI tried a million note taking apps for my iPad and this is THE one. Specifically with the update that allows you to remove everything from the screen while reading and writing. It’s clean, aesthetic and organized. Love love!!! ❤️.Version: 1.4.7

Please fix open lagI love Noteshelf and have used it for years, upgrading every time. I love the the functionality. For instance, custom pages and custom covers have allowed me to endlessly create what I want and need. I like the tools—writing implements, colors, shapes, hold to make straight feature—and it is a place I go multiple times a day to take notes and plan. My only challenge right now is the extremely long time it takes to open—sometimes even reopen in the middle of switching back and forth between apps. As I said, I use this multiple times a day to take notes and manage my time. This lag in Noteshelf 3 is really causing me problems as I sometimes loose the thread of what I was going in to do while I’m waiting. Please, fix the lag. It’s the only reason this isn’t a five star rating..Version: 1.4.6

Noteshelf is the best I’ve triedI am currently using the latest Noteshelf 3. Have used Noteshelf 2 for years. When I first searched for a handwriting app I found Noteshelf the most fluid for writing. The fountain pen tool is very expressive. The app lets me keep daily journals by subject. Easy to keep adding to. I especially like the ease of creating page layouts on iPad. Far easier than Apple’s Pages app. Quick to add, resize and move around a photo from Apple Photos app. And easy to send a page or more by email. Nice fonts if I want text blocks rather than hand writing. An all around friendly app to reach for..Version: 1.4.7

Appreciate Evernote support. This version fixes the laggy Apple Pencil input present in Noteshelf 2 and still has Evernote publishing—it is basically the only good way to get handwritten notes synced into EN!.Version: 1.4.7

Almost perfect, auto-backup doesn’t workOverall, I enjoy the new features and improvements from Noteshelf 2 to 3. Unfortunately, the auto-backup to PDF format could be much better. For one, it doesn’t backup instantly. I’ve made many edits to my notebook through the day but the latest backup saved was from over 7 hours. Secondly, it doesn’t have the loading bar feature to see if auto-backup is up to date for each file..Version: 1.3.2

Mostly goodIt has all the great writing features and ui is clean and easy to use. As a Goodnotes refugee, this has all the features you need and want that is in all the other major note taking apps with the advantage of not looking like a cartoon picture book whatever Goodnotes 6 is trying to be. Also, developers are very responsive to feedback and fixed the issue I had (making add folders more obvious) and responded very quickly..Version: 1.2

ReunionI'd stopped using this app years ago in favour of two other note-taking apps. I saw one of my students using an app that produced beautiful handwriting and was surprised to discover that it was this. I reinstalled and updated my version and now it's the only one I use for everything. The only thing it lacks is a way to create subfolders so I can better organize the work I use it for..Version: 1.5.5

Love this app!I have tried the other more popular apps but always come back to Noteshelf. The fact that they haven’t gone subscription based is awesome and they keep improving an already superior product. Hands down my fave note-taking app..Version: 1.5.6

Brilliant softwareThis is the app that finally made it worth having an Apple Pencil. Great drawing tools and templates, make it very easy to maintain a daily journal or quick notes. Love it..Version: 1.5.6

Better than the restI still don’t understand why this isn’t up with the main two hand writing note apps. Features are just as good as the others and much better in some respects. The pen tools feel much more like my own handwriting with analog tools, the templates are actually feel unlike the others, and it’s still a paid app, again unlike the others. Others fill their screens with tools I never use, so the option to remove all other clutter to have a completely blank page to write is worth the purchase alone..Version: 1.2.1

One of the few apps I can actually useNoteshelf 3 takes the cake for its exceptional writing experience, standing head and shoulders above its competition. The way it mirrors your actual handwriting is leagues ahead of other apps, even leaving Apple's offerings in the dust. That's why I've stuck with Noteshelf for so long. But, you know, there are a few things that could make the day-to-day use a bit smoother. First up, the whole pen and color situation feels a bit scattered. Having the pen choices in one place and colors and thickness in another makes it a bit of a hassle. It'd be great if they could all hang out together to save us from jumping around menus. And why every pen has a different set of colors? And let's talk about colors. The current grid view is a bit lackluster and limited. I often find myself squinting at hex codes to get the color I want. A gradient or RGB slider would be a game-changer and make choosing colors less of a headache. Also, only three colors on the menu bar? Come on, let us add more to spice things up. Now, that floating bar for colors and thickness - it's always there, like a third wheel. It'd be cool to have the option to turn it off, just like in Noteshelf 2. And maybe make it collapsible for those who want to keep things neat and tidy. Moving on to file and notebook management – it's gotten better, but it's still a bit clunky. Jumping from folder to folder can make you lose your sense of where you are. A bird's-eye view right on the main page, with dividers, subdividers, and subsections directly on the main page, would simplify navigation (OneNote does that). Introducing a scrollable column view instead of opening new pages and folders would contribute to a more user-friendly experience. And bookmarks – the current process is a bit of a chore. Seeing the bookmarked pages without digging into a separate section would be sweet. Lastly, as someone knee-deep in a Ph.D., the traditional linear notebook style isn't cutting it. An infinite canvas option for notebooks would be a game-changer. I've got other apps for that now, but I'd love to make Noteshelf my one-stop-shop, especially with its killer handwriting feature. In a nutshell, Noteshelf 3's handwriting game is strong, but a few tweaks here and there could turn it into the ultimate note-taking sidekick. Without the need for me to look for other apps, for something so simple that Noteshelf has overlooked. The app's potential is immense, and by enhancing the integration of its features, Noteshelf 3 could offer users a more cohesive and user-friendly UI. Remember, less travel within the app translates to a better overall experience, and grouping related functionalities is a simple yet effective way to achieve this - you have a lot of features but all over the place, hiding under different menus and options. Grouping is the keyword for me! ------------- I wanted to share my thoughts on the new logo – it feels a bit generic and rushed compared to the distinctive look of Noteshelf 1 and 2, especially the app icon. The uniqueness of the previous logos contributed to a recognizable brand identity. I also wonder about the long-term sustainability of the current logo. If the color of the Apple Pencil were to change, would the app icon follow suit? I do not see that as something adaptable and enduring. It's just not sustainable. Perhaps a bit of tweaking could strike a balance between a modern look and a timeless appeal, much like the previous versions. I think the app is becoming too playfull as time goes by....Version: 1.4.7

Folder optionGreat note taking app. Love the use of pen option. Just one suggestion. Please include folder option/file system..Version: 1.2.1

It’s the bees knees!I started with Noteshelf many years ago. I got talked into other apps and switched. Big mistake. I use note taking apps for work and privacy is a big thing at work. I read through the other apps (you know which ones) and got scared. Instantly ported back to Noteshelf and deleted all the others. Plus I like how the handwriting gets smoothed so it looked neater. And the zoom box is infinitely better than anyone else’s..Version: 1.4.11

Pdf export optionI’ve been using a lot of different note taking apps for the last two years. I now take all my notes using Noteshelf as it has different pen options. There are two things that I want Noteshelf team to change or add. The first one is that if I use ppt-shape horizontal files, somehow I cannot zoom out and make the size of the slide smaller while writing. The second one is that if I export my notes to pdf file, somehow the thickness of letters gets significantly thinner and it’s hard to see my handwriting as the lines get really thin and it became nearly invisible to see in my laptop. I’m using fountain pen so I’m not too sure if it only applies to fountain pen option or not..Version: 1.5.4

Please Let Me Add My Own Stickers Within The AppI have been a NoteShelf User for a while but honestly I mostly use good notes because it allows me to store my own stickers within the app. I use NoteShelf and GoodNotes for digital planning, reading ebooks, and taking notes. I have a lot of my own stickers that I use regularly. It is so much easier to use stickers in GoodNotes because they allow the stickers to be stored within the app. I really like NoteShelf better for everything else. If you were to add that feature NoteShelf 3 would be my favorite of the two. The only other thing I don’t like is the location of the color tool. I think it should be on the top with the other tools, and it would be nice..Version: 1.4.11

Revised ReviewAfter the developer’s response I am revising my former review. I have used many other note taking apps and after several years of use I find NoteShelf 2 to be an absolute gem, the best I’ve ever used. Also the developer has always been great to deal with. NoteShelf 3 has lots of new goodies, but it lost a couple of goodies essential to me at least. But now they are working to get those in 3. When that happens that happens, three will be an incredible app for me. So in the meantime I will hang on to 3 and explore it, and continue to use NoteShelf 2. You can’t go wrong with NoteShelf..Version: 1.0.2

I have tried them all. This. Is. The. OneLet me count the ways. No annual subscription. Handwriting recognition. Dark mode. Flexible page templates. Easy easy import of pdfs to create new pages with custom look. Very smooth handwriting. Excellent handwriting to text conversion. AI assist. Syncs with Mac and PC version for access on desktop. Easy smooth iCloud sync. Tagging. Bookmarks. Easy export of select pages. Nice looking. Great organizational features. And all for a one time fee currently. I wish I had found this sooner, before I invested time and money into so many of the other ones. Why don’t more people know about this one?.Version: 1.5.10

Useful Every DayI use Noteshelf 3 every single day. It integrates seamlessly with all my devices and desktop. The options available to set up different notebooks offers the perfect solution for organizing everything. The option for the calendar notebook that I can personalize has allowed me now to go fully digital with my yearly dairy task planning. I also use Noteshelf 3 to download content that I can easily annotate , file, and find again easily. The continual updates have been a perfect solution for me..Version: 1.4.8

Amazing study tool!Mt sister has used this app for school for years and once I bought an iPad, she set it up for me, too. It has made notes for school so easy and fun to do, and it’s really helpful that I can import downloaded study guides or PowerPoints into my notebooks— I usually just right extra notes in the margins to save time on note taking. $10 for everything this app offers is so worth it!.Version: 1.4.7

Good but missing some key featuresIt took me a little time to familiarise myself with Noteshelf 3 and migrating from Noteshelf 2, but in general I like it. One key feature that was dropped is the name of the notebook and page number on the bottom of the page. This makes it difficult knowing which notebook you are in if you have multiple notebooks open - surprised that they dropped this basic feature. Hope they put it back in..Version: 1.4.6

Love it but could use more stickersNoteshelf 3 is a solid note-taking app with a user-friendly interface, making it easy to jot down thoughts or create sketches. The app’s organization tools enhance productivity. However, the absence of the ability to add custom stickers might be a drawback for those seeking more personalized creative expression. Despite this, it remains a reliable choice for efficient note-taking. What aspects of the app do you find most useful, and are there specific features you wish it had?.Version: 1.4.8

Simply the bestI have used Noteshelf from their very first iteration through to Noteshelf 3. Though I have tried other note taking apps here and there, Noteshelf have always remained the best. The most intuitive, easy to use, well presented note taking app on the market and to top it off the developers listen to their users. Well done Noteshelf, I’m a fan for life..Version: 1.5.5

Best fountain pen, best note taking appI’ve tried all the usual suspects in note taking apps, and I keep coming back to noteshelf. The update is fantastic, with even better sync integration, displays, and better features..Version: 1.5.5

Extremely Capable SoftwareI have the latest versions of Notability, Goodnotes and Noteshelf. My work involves the use of online teaching and document creation, so I've spend close to 50,000 hours in the past 5 years creating notes for my students. Noteshelf is by far the best tool for note/document creation if you want to work on real documents. It has the best handwriting tool (it looks exactly like your writing on paper), great typing and editing fuctions. Noteshelf can do basic tasks Notability can't do. For example, I sometimes want to share just 2-3 pages of my notes with my students. Easily done in Noteshelf. Notability doesn't allow that. In fact, Notability doesn't even display table of contents for documents I create (yes, I have the latest version of Notability). Until other notetaking apps start taking documents seriously, I'm a very happy user of the latest Noteshelf..Version: 1.3.2

A Great Notebook App!I’ve used the Noteshelf apps for years and they are my absolute fave as a professional writer. It’s easy to set up new notebooks, categorize them by use or need, switch pens and highlighters (a must for anyone who loves color coding), and create brilliant notes that can be accessed with an internet connection. It’s also my absolutely favorite way to read PDFs or review text, making highlighting and note-taking straightforward, simple, and searchable. I’m lucky enough to have neat enough handwriting that I can find almost anything between the bookmark and search features. The only feature I miss from previous versions is the ability to shrink the pens/highlighter menu to a dot, so it wouldn’t get in the way of writing, but it’s a small thing compared to a vastly improved lasso that makes turning my handwritten notes into a typed draft so easy that my job barely feels like work (when I’m not torturing myself over a blank page, lol). When anyone I know gets an iPad, this is the first app I recommend. Absolutely awesome, and the best app for my work and life..Version: 1.5.10

GreatLove all the new features.Version: 1.1

Follow-up to 'disappointed'The more I use it - the more I like it! I understand the costs involved here so I personally don't mind the paying for the new app. Although I understand how some are in different circumstances. I've tried them all and I still find this the best note taking experience. Not a solicited endorsement btw. I was really liking this app until the popup said I used my trial period. I checked back could find nothing that said ai was a trial. I went for the extra cost because it looked promising. It still has one of the best hand writing experience of all the ones I tried. Like I said shows promise but disappointing GWP.Version: 1.0.2

Get this app! This is truly an amazing app! I count on it all the time and use it every chance I get. I love it for marking up PDFs and articles that are important to me and easy to organize them all so I know exactly where they are. I think the look of my documents is the best ever seen, and with the ability to convert handwriting into text to search for words is pretty amazing. I love the enhancements that are made continually by the company and they are quite helpful. Nothing makes my handwriting look better. They have so many features to help me add variations and photos to my documents. Signing documents looks more beautiful using their fountain pen than any other writing utensil. Can’t say enough about it..Version: 1.4.7

Loving it so far!I have been using this for a semester now and I could not be happier with it! It bugs out a little bit sometimes but it always saves my work and the features are dry good. The hand/palm does not move the screen when you don’t want it to and the apple pen works really well with it..Version: 1.5.10

Perfect for my needsI always prefer to hand write yet using my iPad everyday as a high school teacher. Which is why I chose Noteshelf. It is my preference in terms of note taking apps. I’ve been using it for more than 5 years already..Version: 1.4.6

Recording iconThanks for the great app. The only thing that would be helpful to change is the size of the recording icon. It is too large in some pages and take a large space. If you can make the recording icon size modifiable, it would be great. Secondly, sometimes we need to move the recording to another page which is not supported. I hope you could add this option too. Thanks.Version: 1.3.4

Great appAlthough it is not exactly what I want, it is close enough to make it useful. AI feature is great. The only thing I would like it to be if it could read the entire document and if you could ask follow-up questions random and starting a new threat. You’ll be a lot better. Otherwise, I’m using that every day as a journal..Version: 1.5.10

Game changer!!Noteshelf has been my go to notes app for years… First v1, then v2 and now v3. Great work on hyperlinks to pages. This is a game changer and enables full digital bullet journals!.Version: 1.5

Best digital notebook app!I’ve used Noteshelf for years and it keeps getting better. Love that I can organize my various notebooks into folders, back up to iCloud, and choose super unique and stunning covers from Unsplash for the covers! The latest upgrade to Noteshelf 3 was so worth it!.Version: 1.6.1

Love Noteshelf3!Not sure why NoteShelf3 isn’t rated the best out there. I’ve tried so many and none compare with how easy and useful NoteShelf3 is. I use it for everything, even writing novels! If I could wish for one improvement, it would be that when you cut and paste that it would continue onto the second page if there isn’t enough room on the first page. Otherwise I’t amazing in my view..Version: 1.5.9

Holy GrailI have been dancing between note taking apps, never able to find one which combines everything I need from the Notability or Goodnotes user face with the more superior, pleasant writing experience of Apple Notes or Flow. Hoping my search ends here! So far, I love it!.Version: 1.2.1

Needs some workHandwriting has been better but is alot better in Noteshelf 2. I haft to write real slow to even see mine causing me to only use the pencil in this app. If I turn on sensitivity it’s a real disaster . Note shelf 2 handwriting engine should of been in Note shelf 3 and notes don’t sync across devices, I wish that was better waiting on more updates and can we please get more manly templates without the carnival colors for the men using this app. It’s still the cotton candy app to me but great concept..Version: 1.4.12

Feels great to use & responsive support serviceThe note taking experience feels very fluid and frictionless, with a variety of useful tools to utilize. I reported a few minor bugs and a problem with iCloud and the support team was able to help identify the problem and propose solutions & notify the development team quite quickly. The price is also much less than competitors like GoodNotes while still offering similar features and good quality. Hope the devs continue to improve the app & make it even better!.Version: 1.4.1

Best note taking appThere are a few bugs but it’s early days. Nevertheless Noteshelf and Noteshelf 3 blow all the other note taking apps out of the water. I absolutely love it!.Version: 1.0.1

Room for Improvement!I have used Noteshelf for over 8 years and recommended it to everyone. I would always give it 5 stars and is my go-to app for almost everything. But, NS3 needs more work to get my 5 star rating again. I Easily transferred from NS1 to NS2. For me Transferring to NS3 has been a pain. First, not all of my custom templates transferred, many of which are related to my businesses. I had to transfer them one at a time. For the hyperlinks to work you need to be in read only mode...never had to do that before and seems read mode turns off all the time. Im not comfortable with the tool bars...technically 3. I would prefer the pen, highlight and erase bar be on same tool bar as colors. I would prefer having my favorite colors remain open like NS2. The erase/return is also separate from the others. This last update just created more issues...but once they get it all together, hopefully all will be good. I love that they added AI. Now I just wish they would let me add stickers from outside vendors that better relate to my business. They do have very good customer service, my reason for the 4th star. Hopefully soon, I'll be able to recommend them again as being the best. I.Version: 1.4.8

An awesome app that allows me to migrate from paper!I like to write stuff on paper. It somehow trains my mind to be more engaged. This app is the app that I keep coming back to because of the intuitive usage; the learning curve is not steep. A tool is effective when you don’t think about the it but use it to attend and customize it to feed your business and personal needs. I hope Noteshelf will continue evolves through times! I hate apps that forces people to subscribe annually no matter what happens... I rather have an app that charges me when the new version is out - even if it’s expensive. YNAB was one of those that I left a long time ago due to their business practice. Hence, the way Noteshelf does its business fits well with my mentality. You know an app is good when the developers are providing honest feedback to the reviews. I understand this app is going through some development and they may be some bugs in the app. But I can live with that. Welldone Noteshelf 3! Worth an upgrade for sure..Version: 1.3.2

Even betterI have been using Noteshelf since the original one, and I have to say that this is definitely the best. It is easier to find my collections of books, easier to produce new books, and was very easy to transfer the books I wanted to keep across from bookshelf 2. Well done!.Version: 1.1

Good so farHave only been playing around for a couple hours, but right now I'm liking the update. My biggest issue so far: notebook covers... NS2 the cover was just a thumbnail, it was great for keeping the home screen visually appealing instead of having notes/images displayed. For whatever reason, NS3 decided that this cover should also be an editable page within your notebook. To me this is a downgrade in functionally. I don't want to scroll past a digital cover page in my notebook, I want my home screen neat and organized with my actual notebooks only including my content..Version: 1.3.5

AI integration is awesome! Handwriting needs paid upgrade.I slated v3 in a previous review as the handwriting recognition didn’t work. I didn’t realise you have to upgrade to paid before this feature works properly. The 20%-off swung it for me and, yes, handwriting recognition seems to work perfectly. Note to developers / marketing, make this a little clearer, please! Either disable it completely on the free version, or have a working trial version. The current one on the free tier just feels broken, and therefore loses confidence. Otherwise (paid version) absolutely superb..Version: 1.4.2

Only app I useNoteshelf 3 has added everything that was missing in the previous app, which was already indispensable. This is the only note taking, whatever you can imagine you can do app, that puts notebooks into actual books. There are probably better writing to text apps, but they all put them into groups of words. Being neurodivergent I am very visual and being able to personalise each book, is essential..Version: 1.1

Not Quite Workable YetI’ve now been using Noteshelf since 2012. Noteshelf 3 is a huge improvement, BUT, I’ve had quite a few crashes and freezes and there are a few things, that are very much needed, that have been taken away. I’m not going to fully transfer over to Noteshelf 3 until the following issues are back up and running. For this to be fully workable again the following are needed: - Option to be able to see the iPad Icon Bar at the top of the screen, when in a notebook. I want to be able to see the Date & Time. - Option to be able to tap the iPad Icon Bar so I can jump to the top of the Pages thumbnails within a notebook. - Option to be able to see the notebook titles within the thumbnails on the shelves, so the full notebook title is visible, as in Noteshelf 2. I found that the transparent versions worked best for my needs. - The option to be able to select Tags from within a notebook, as well as having them on the shelf. This is so I can create PDF documents based on tags from within a specific notebook. - When I jump to a page, I want the top of the page to be below the menu bars at the top of the page. - When selecting a page template, the Recents is no longer shown, which was a very useful feature..Version: 1.3.3

This app is a Jewel to discoverI use many applications from Apple to create , manage and store about 4000 medical publications to follow the scientific literature in Medecinal Chemistry. I came across Noteshelf 3 and appreciate all the basic features to write notes and create beautiful covers for all the notes and publications. Noteshelf 3 allows me to create beautiful books with Chat GPT to produce summary of articles and text translation to multiple languages. Noteshelf 3 is indeed one of the best app I have been using up to now. Keep on working on the stability of Noteshelf 3.Version: 1.6.4

Best writing feelingI tried Goodnotes, notability and other note taking apps, including Apple note and Apple Freeform, but no other apps give me the same feeling of this one. It feels natural and the closest to my actual writing. Other apps like Goodnotes may have more features, but this still my app of choice for note taking..Version: 1.4.7

Love it!I just bought myself an iPad for school and I downloaded this app to write school notes for revision and I absolutely love it already! The design and layout makes it effortless to stay organised but also makes revising far more enjoyable and motivating! Thanks for this app :).Version: 1.5.6

Ça plante souvent …Je suis une fan de Noteshelf, depuis la première version à celle-ci, pour le moment la version 3, plante assez souvent, mais quand même cette application répond très bien à ce que j’ai besoin !!.Version: 1.4.8

Most versatile note taking app!I have been using Noteshelf for years and every time I reach for it, I finish my notes with a smile. Noteshelf is so easy to use and customizable at the same time; you can highlight, change ink color, hand write, or type, draw, color, add stickers,,,, the possibilities are endless. And they have a store to add different types of paper or covers, templates, etc. But even if you require a very-very specific paper, you can always upload your own template. Syncing between devices (same os) is smooth for the most part; but yes, now and then I need to go to settings and manually initiate syncing. And I am so confident that the amazing team at Noteshelf will soon unveil the cross platform synchronization..Version: 1.5.10

Fantastic and full of featuresI would rate it 4.5 if I could. It works perfect for my needs. I love the AI integration and access to so many photo repositories and many more feature. I stay organized and I do Bible study with this app. It’s works wonderfully. The only feature I wish were improved is helping to make handwriting on the app more legible. It already does better in this area than most other apps. But writing smoothing…But that’s with most of these note taking apps. Overall really nice and glad I got it..Version: 1.3

So VersatileLoving Noteshelf. It has been helpful for a variety of types of projects. So many different templates, tools, images… I reach for Noteshelf whenever I am studying something, taking notes for a hobby, putting some photos on a topic into a quick album - limitless! I’ve tried other apps but this has been my ‘bread and butter’ for years..Version: 1.5.10

New userI like this app, but i do wish it had some new tools and some new features. Like if I’m working on some notes i would like to have the ability to write some extra notes on the side. I don’t really want to add new pages then needing to scroll all the way up again. Also I’m not sure if its in the app but i would like to have a ruler tool. And have the ability to ad images..Version: 1.3

Great appWas teaching using Noteshelf 2 for years and was very satisfied with it. I was disappointed with the fact that the favorites toolbar had disappeared in Noteshelf 3, so I stayed with 2. But I also contacted their support and the following week, the favorites were added to Noteshelf 3. So I will switch to the new version. Great responsive support team and great app!.Version: 1.3.5

Long time Noteshelf 2 userLove Noteshelf 2 and was excited to see what Noteshelf 3 brought. Love the new design and features all very welcome. Love to see the update keep them coming. However it feels like 3 steps forward 2 steps back. I feel like you changed how certain worked just to change them and you changed them for the worst. When they worked just fine in Noteshelf 2. Such as the zoom view, share options, all seem to have bugs that make it perform worse than in Noteshelf 2 or the old way was far superior. Some cool features I’d like to see added if possible. I take a lot of math notes for work and it would be great if you could include math translate feature to convert hand written math into latex, png. To have inline math with the handwritten notes for ease of reading or for sharing. Something like nebo does. I think I will stick to Noteshelf 2 for now until some of the bugs get worked out..Version: 1.1

Good but not perfect yetThe new app is nice and sleek. The UI and UX redesigns are generally good. Handwriting seems “messier” in the new version. I imagine there is less smoothing. I would love the ability to tweak how much smoothing there is on the pen. Handwriting also seems a little lower resolution? But this could be a softness/transparency effect on the edge of the pens to make them seem more natural, I’m not sure. A little “tutorial” might be nice when you first use the app, to show you where the various settings are. (Maybe I missed this because I migrated from NS2). I was happy for the NS2 to NS3 migration feature. I happily paid the one time fee for premium. I like that the company doesn’t link data to peoples profiles, and that it doesn’t look at the content of your notebooks. The AI features seem useless/uninteresting right now but we’ll see. Others should note that the AI credits seem to be a separate payment than the one time premium fee. Overall very happy, but a few improvements are needed..Version: 1.5.4

Great Update!I am really LOVING all the new features with Noteshelf 3! I spent some time trying everything out and downloaded the stickers, new templates, and sticky notes. It also automatically brought in all of my former Noteshelf notebooks. The help section was great, too. I looked up a few things I was trying to figure out and found quick answers. I also love the fact that Noteshelf still has a one time fee and didn’t go the way of a monthly subscription. Thank you for all the fun new ways to organize and customize my notes!.Version: 1.1

Absolutely the best note app for Apple Pencil usersNote shelf is the absolute best notes app. I've tried them all! It has far and away the best apple pencil experience! It glides beautifully with no lag at all. It's just beautiful to write, with lovely pens and soft default colour inks, which is refreshing. It has nice quality stickers and brilliant templates -loads of them. The app is so easyto use. The AI is fantastic. It's smart and accurate. This review is all in my words and I used convert to text which works seamlessly. It gives you a preview of what you have written before converting, which is nice. And at the time of this writing all for a one off payment of $14.99 ( or there abouts). Brilliant!!! I've been looking for ages for a great note app. This is it. I'm really happy with Noteself. 🥰.Version: 1.5.4
