✓ Really usefulIt has taken me a while to take full advantage of this amazing little App. Most music Apps don't offer the flexibility of PDF readers for organising and editing files, but with unrealBook the ability to create playlists and link each song to a Band in a Box backing track is of immense value. So unrealBook is not just a score reader. Since it is possible to connect the iPad to a decent sound system, via an audio docking lead, the potential for gigging purposes is impressive. I thoroughly recommend this App, but I do hope that future upgrades include enhancements to text mark up tools. The ability to write clear comments and alternative chord symbols would make it even better, although there already is a facility for typing in a box..Version: 1.6.4

Having to sing in different languages has made my life so much easier. I do not have to carry multiple bulky binders any more. It is quick and easy to build set lists, annotate and can also be used to sing alone with backing tracks! Soon our band will incorporate the multi ipad feature of the unrealBook. Aron a fulltime musician and developer is easy to talk to, open to suggestions and has been always there to assist and answer my e-mails promptly. The last two version updates have improve the App considerably. The 1.5.7 offers faster launching time among other fixes. ✓ Very convenient for choir singingI used it on my iPad Air for choir practice and a concert and found it very convenient. It ends up being a bit lighter than a choir binder and it's noiseless when turning the pages. It takes a little while to learn the features, and there are likely many I still need to learn, but I was able to quickly master what was needed for making annotations, creating a set list for the concert and putting the songs in the correct order. It also allows you to keep the printed copies clean..Version: 1.993
✓ Not just for pop/stage, classical too!I first got unrealBook for it's primary use, performing in stage/rock/show bands with set lists and large catalogues of music. But then I also started using it for my classical work. I'm principal trumpet in two orchestras. Dealing with librarians and old music copies in the typical orchestra can be trying. Combined with imslp.org, which makes almost all classical public domain music available in PDF, unrealBook is also now on my orchestral music stand. It looks strange. So far, I'm the only one doing this. But it works just as great in the concert hall as in the night club. The recent iOS 8 issue with my PageFlip pedal is a little annoying, but that's not the app's fault. Switching to a MIDI pedal device instead of a keyboard emulator (PageFlip) should eliminate that issue..Version: 1.991

✓ UnrealbookThis app was THE reason I bought an iPad. I have a residency on guitar and vocals, also travel a lot. My whole pad is on unreal book. Before that, it was two lugage cases. I also use my backing tracks with it. Never crashed....yet!! My fellow musicians also use this app, so working together is easy peasy. Grate app, has had some problems but nothing that ever got in the way. Could do with a BIGGER transport bar, at least a big play button, and then it could disappear after pressing play. Then reappear at the end of a track. That would be a great help, especially,when like me you play an in instrument, and want to hit the play button quickly with say a plectrum in your fingers your violin bow. ✓ A Solid ToolTo be honest, this is a biased review because I like the app so much. I needed something to managed mountains of charts and after looking at a few similar iPad solutions unrealBook came out ahead for my needs. It's a solid work horse with no unnecessary frills; when I'm rehearsing or playing I need something that is dependable. It still blows my mind that I can play with a friend and turn pages on both our iPads with a Bluetooth pedal! This app is the quintessence of utility. No doubt it would be easy to put on a negative hat and come up with criticisms, but that's such a waste of energy. I wouldn't change a thing. Saying that, I did request a reverse page turn option — I also read shakuhachi notion and pages progress left to right. The developer responded in no time at all with a positive and friendly reply. This inspires confidence! The only glitch I've encountered is quite rarely the app won't startup. If I kill other memory hungry apps all is soon good again. My iPod is never off and I use it constantly so memory issues are not surprising. It seems I have to do a hard reset ever few weeks anyway. ✓ Best product everI have being using this product for the past 6 years and I can honestly say it has changed the way I play for the better. I play keys in a variety of lineups from solo to a 5 piece, and I used to have to lug a milk crate full of sheet music....my repertoire currently runs out to ~ 550 songs. The initial setup of scanning everything to PDF took a while, but it was worth it. I also invested in a iPad Pro....so what I am reading is (close to) an A4 page of music....page turning is easy either a quick tap or get yourself a set of pedals.....as I say setting up takes a while and making sure that you markup the pages for repeats and coda marks and also making your own notations also takes time... it is worth it....with the master/slave capability I can have all muses reading off the same page ....literally!!! ✓ Excellent App that I will never NOT use for musicThis app has become a life saver for me as a musician. I have used it for teaching music as well as playing music in my band. The way to organize the charts, create set lists, and more is very handy and gets rid of all the paper I used to have to carry - or worse, try to remember it all! If there was one thing I would ask the developers to please update or work on, it would be the note-taking feature. The writing is clunky and not smooth. I cannot write notes that produces legible words without jagged edges. I typically have to write one line of a letter at a time so as to avoid markings that do not fly all over the paper. Smooth writing that reflects exactly what I intend to write would be an excellent improvement! Otherwise, a stellar app that I will continually use..Version: 4.0

✓ Best app in it's classMy wife and I have used this app since we got our iPads (3 years ago), and it continues to improve. We play locally and regionally (lap dulcimer and guitar) and can put in different set lists for different venues. I also play in a rock band and use it as a reference to the tab that I write for stage performances. Wouldn't be without it! ✓ UnrealBookThis is a really good score reader. Obviously designed by a working musician. But I would say a younger musician! :) Later in life he will find he needs text and music displayed larger. unrealBook can display scores larger, you can pinch the score outwards. But when you leave the score unrealBook forgets the zoom. I have carefully prepared many of my scores at A5 size (printed from Sibelius). unrealBook does not respect this and displays them with huge white borders. I think this is a bug. I know the programmer doesn't like fancy page transitions, but computers provide an ideal opportunity to do things otherwise impossible, and a look-ahead transition is wonderful. Should be considered. Otherwise this has many features that are required and missing from other score readers..Version: 0

I use it for setlists, requests, as a songwriting tool, pics for effects settings, metronome, the list goes on and on. It is my safety net. When people comment that a musician performing with a chart can't project to the audience - I let them know that an app like unrealBook lets me confidently project to my audience and customize my performance for them. I've been using unrealBook for two years on an old iPad 1 that was lying around. It has been a flawless experience. unrealBook is reliable and easy to use. ✓ The StandardI currently have this app along with GigBook, ForScore, Music Stand, and a couple of other apps that no longer seem to be supported. I have over 3000 charts, leadsheets etc. loaded into each. I've used all 3 extensively in pro situations for over year. At this time, GigBook doesn't have (or I'm not aware of) a mechanism to accommodate codas and complex arrangements on multi-page charts. That's been a deal breaker on several gigs for me because I don't always have time to re-format a PDF to deal with complex song forms. UnReal Book has clearly emerged as the overall leader for managing my charts. FourScore is tough competition and a very close second, but UnReal Book comes through with flying colors for the serious musician. The features here are unsurpassed and if you're a gigging musician or vocalist, start here. I also strongly recommend that you purchase both Unreal Book AND ForScore, learn them both and have them both at the ready at all times. When Apple does an update that temporarily breaks one of these (they have before and trust me they will again) you'll have another exceptional app to get you through. ✓ Very useful for the gigging musicianLooking for a way to assemble all my music to use on stage, I stumbled on this and so glad I did. At first, it was a little unnatural to use but after 10 minutes of tinkering, it was actually quite straight forward. You can take photos of music and save it via the camera on your iPad, but I find creating my own .pdf files in Excel much easier (my preference). Note, all your music will be in .pdf format. Once you have your music on there, it's very easy to organise your music and, as I have to do a lot, write over your music with the inbuilt pen or highlighter. You can also trigger a metronome etc. Overall, this is an ace app that's well worth the price!.Version: 1.96

✓ Fantastic app! A must for any working musician!This is a wonderful app from Aron Nelson. If you play in a band (or multiple bands) and need to keep all your charts in a simple, organized program, this one is very simple to use and does everything I need it to. Scan all charts into separate .pdf files and then add them into unRealBook right through iTunes. Once they're into the app, you can group them into song lists (IE, "Ballads") or make set lists where you put your charts in the order you want, and then you can flip through them onstage, either by tapping the screen or using a wireless foot controller (I use iRig for that, which works flawlessly with UnrealBook). You can also write notes on the fly, circle or highlight specific passages on the page (IE "Repeat Chorus here", etc). There are other similar programs, but I think what makes this one truly worth the money is the support from Aron. Not only has he incorporated my suggestions into the program, but he has also tirelessly helped me whenever I had a question about how to do something. Most recently he was invaluable in helping me solve a bug when I upgraged to iOs8 (Moral of the story: scan your charts at no higher than 150dpi and you'll be good to go!). I can't say enough great things about UnRealBook. I've used it on hundreds of gigs and it has never let me down! Buy it!.Version: 1.98

✓ UnrealBookI have had my unrealBook since 2015. Prior to purchasing it I was like so many people who still struggle with books, lighting, and searching tediously for a song. I am using many features of this book. Of course the alphabetized songs, song lists, linking songs to PDFs, highlighting, adding text, indexes, recording, creating lyrics, etc. I play music with a kanikapila group and this is a tremendous asset. It is much more convenient to have all of our library in my hand, and it is also very neat and clear when conducting in concerts. It is simple and reliable once you have got the hang of page turning under control. It is helpful to have as large print as possible, but the brilliance of the back lit screen on an i pad is a great help. ✓ Worth Every Penny!This app is great. I'm a gigging musician, and sometimes play in the orchestra pit for Broadway shows. I downloaded it on Thursday. Loading 110 pages of sheet music into the app and organizing it into a set list took about five minutes. Interface is easy, intuitive, and responsive. Today is Tuesday, and I've now used the app for two 6 hour rehearsals, a two hour show, and about 10-15 hours of practice. Not one freeze, not one crash. Also, everyone in the pit band was EXTREMELY jealous while they were flipping through their binders to rearrange the show list for a last minute change, while I did the same thing in about five seconds using one finger, lol! Additionally, this thing really saved me because the lightbulb on my music stand light went out about ten minutes before curtain, and the tech guys didn't have a spare. If I hadn't had the sheets on my iPad I wouldn't have been able to see anything! Bottom line, if you're looking for an app that has a pre-loaded collection of sheet music, this is NOT it. If you're looking for a solid, stable way to digitally manage and work with sheet music you already have, I don't think it gets much better than this!.Version: 1.6

✓ Super live musos appThis new version of Unreal Book is a superb tool for all musos who play live and use charts, even if only for a few songs. And even better than those before it. It is quick to load, page turning is super quick, it enables setlists , but even without a setlist, finding songs is sooo quick. I switched from a PC tablet using a program called Music Reader, to the iPad using Unreal Book, and I am very happy with the switch. I wasn't at first, but like anything once I got used to the limitations, and worked WITH it instead of against it, it all flowed smoothly. The re-sizing of charts is a snap, and the app remembers each single pages' settings, even if its a multi-page chart. MP3 backing files can be linked to charts as well. I have alread put my name on the list for the new airturn bluetooth footswitch, so knowing it is already supported is a HUGE plus as well. I had a look at all the available apps for charts, and Unreal Book is way on top. I can thoroughly recommend it to all chart-reading musicians out there...5 stars for sure. Dennis.Version: 1.73

✓ The best app ever!I’ve been using the app for last 7+ years and over that period managed to “transfer” all my music into unrelBook - over 26,000 tunes/songs for variety of shows, bands, duos, trios etc. Also using the app for the education purpose and that is a godsend too: most of my students have their own unrealBooks so often we will share the MP3 files, aural training as well as sight reading exercises etc. The app allows you to attached extra data to the pages such as MIDI (to call correct patches on my multiple keyboards and sound modules instantly), some more info in form of a ‘sticky notes’, the samples of intros (in MP3 format) if I need to plus heaps of other options. You can also share your music with other musicians (if they have an app as well) instantly, make annotations, navigating flawlessly through the tune(s) such as D.C. al Fine, D.S. - segno - sings, multiple coda(s) sing etc. I’m also adding info regarding the correct keys for variety of singers I’m working with - fantastic and handy feature means I only need to establish the key once and anytime after we are working again, everything I need to know/remember is there for me, instantly. I would like to mentioned another fact: the developer of the app - Aron Nelson - provides outstanding, second to none - support I have ever experienced from any software/app ever. He answers all my queries in almost no time at all, often suggests alternative solutions if they are available. Many, many thanks Aron and let’s hope the app will grow and improve (how can you improve thing so almost perfect?) the feature versions, can’t wait to get to the next one. ✓ Full featured -- RTFM!!A comment that shows up on Apple's browser-based version of the App Store for this app (and all reader apps) not having enough features to manage and access songs efficiently (oddly, this comment doesn't show up within the iTunes App Store). WRONG! I have looked through a lot of iPad music readers and from what I have seen Unrealbook is the best, hands-down. It can handle bootleg fakebooks with no problems. You can set a menu command to go straight to a bootleg's index page AND you can set a page number offset so that "page 1" of a bootleg's index can be punched up as page 1 in Unrealbook. You can also make bookmarks (this is not unique) and these bookmarks are added to your main index of PDFs, making it easy to add specific pages from a big PDF to a setlist. With a fakebook being set like this in Unrealbook over time a user can add bookmarks for each songs/he comes across, gradually fleshing out the bookmarks in order to create setlists. The only issue with ALL readers and the bootleg fakebook PDFs circulating is that I cannot see a way to be able to AUTOMATICALLY (or the ipad app scans the PDFs) load in all the songs of a fakebook as separate entries in Unrealbook's list. This, unfortunately is probably impossible for ANY app to do with a static PDF file that doesn't even have the bookmarks or hot-links embedded within the PDF, itself. Unrealbook probably offers a partial solution for this, however, given that you can email setlists to other users. I can't test this as I do not have two iPads, but I wonder if, after someone having done the incredibly heavy-lifting of bookmarking EVERY song in a bootleg fakebook that a recipient of that setlist could just load it into his/her iPad's Unrealbook? I dunno I'm just thinking off the top of my head. Regardless, Unrealbook is the most flexible and the BEST music reader I have found to date!.Version: 1.3.2

This is the most valuable app on my iPad; I would pay 10 times the asking price if that is what it took to keep it.
