Moon Globe HD for Positive User Reviews

Who needs a telescope?Beautiful images. Entrancing to peruse the surface and learn about the history and science behind each feature through Wikipedia (my favorite feature). Needs some kind of gray shadow or something to define the white text from the white areas of the moon. It's impossible to read some names..Version: 2.1.1

Full-featured moon appThe best moon app I've found. Excellent features and UI. The ability to switch from "telescope view" to a free rotation mode is really useful..Version: 2.3

Our nearest neighborA superbly stunning view of our nearest celestial neighbor! Full of information and links to pretty much anything moon :).Version: 2.3

FabulousI love this app - for just a few pence you get such amazing quality and so much information. Worth every penny..Version: 2.2.4

Great app to learn the moonThis is a great app yo help you get familiar with the moon. The shadows are nice to help you to see the moon like you would through a telescope. A very dimple, but very good app..Version: 2.3

TEN STARSOnly Lunar Map you will need. Resolution is FANTASTIC..Version: 2.3

Very coolLove this app for identifying craters on the moon.Version: 2.2.4

AstonishingFabulous! One feature request... Please could the labels be rendered see-thru, please, so that one can see the terrain context of any feature?.Version: 2.1.1

Nice... BUTI do like it high quality nice features... BUT the lat long perspective is NOT working. I bought this app because I wanted to simulate the look of the moon from different lat longs which the app lets you set in "telescope" mode... but even with location services disabled it did not work... if operator error pls provide instructions if bug pls fix..Version: 2.3

Exactly what I was looking forPerfect for me as as a new backyard astronomer..Version: 2.3

Just get itSince man first walked the earth he has looked up to the sky in wonder. Even just a few hundred of years ago, people would have paid thousands to get a close look at the moon, not to mention the far side of the moon. I am happy to pay $0.99.Version: 2.1.1

Fantastic !Fantastic app, silky smooth and stunning detail with the Retina. Thank you !.Version: 2.2.4

No update for 8 yearsThis is a superb app for moon topography and still works well although has not been updated for 8 years. Perhaps the answer is simply that it does not need updated. I would however like to know if it is now an orphan app?.Version: 2.3

Best moon appThis the best moon app I've found. Beautiful and well-organized..Version: 2.3

Very NiceFun little app to show the moon phase and interesting details. I wish there was an option to have it open with no buttons showing (unless you tap the screen). I use it to set my daily screen wallpaper with an iOS shortcut, but the buttons keep showing. 🤷🏻‍♂️.Version: 2.3

Love itVery clever and fantastic photo's etc. The Nutters on YouTube say there are aliens on the moon with their blurry out of focus photographs. Well LOL this app give high def snaps no aliens with the names of every crater etc etc. It's education and fun. Sorry no aliens greys or greens anywhere. It is a must buy!.Version: 2.3

Best Moon AppI use this great app every time I use my telescope. I use it to determine which lunar feature I will view & investigate. Although I haven’t had the app for long, it has become an useful lunar tool..Version: 2.3

Great for Lunatics! As an amateur astronomer and long-time Moon gazer using telescopes large and small, this app blows me away! And the price is right. I can even use this at the telescope to decide what to look at and get the name of what I see. I can reverse the view left to right, or place South up or North up, to match what I see through a refractor, a Newtonian, an SCT, whatever! This app is very well done and a pleasure to use, thanks!.Version: 2.1.1

Awesome!Sure, it's mildly educational. But at the end of the day, it's just plain freakin' awesome. Especially on the iPad, watching the globe turn has a very authentic feel to me. Even the physics of how it responds to touch gives it a sense of mass. And i love that the earth in the background is in the right place and rotation according to the phase of the moon and time of day. Admirable attention to detail there. I highly recommend the HD version for better resolution—at, c'mon, 99 cents. Gum is more expensive. And not nearly as awesome as this app. I'm in love with the Mars version, too. Make more..Version: 2.1

No differenceIn a side by side comparison of Moon HD and Moon Globe, I spotted zero difference..Version: 2.2.4

Very Useful AppI particularly like the Telescope view feature to help identify what you are seeing in the eyepiece. I like the way you can turn the identifications on and off, and that it also provides the Apollo landing sites, etc. It is worth the small payment to get the HD version..Version: 2.2.4

ReviewFantastic!.Version: 2.3

Moon Globe 👍👍I had this on an old iPad years ago and loved it. While watching a space doc tonight it made me think... where’s my Moon Globe !?!? Glade to see your still around! Paid the .99c to support a great app 🙏.Version: 2.3

Wow!I am looking at this on a Retina screen and it is WELL worth the 99p!.Version: 2.2.4

Great app. Glitch that would be great if you fixed.Lovely app Using it as part of some research I’m doing. When I try to send a wiki page to OneNote the app unexpectedly closes. Could you sort out if possible..Version: 2.3

This is a great map!If you need to know the phase of the moon look up or buy a newspaper. If you want to see the moon's geology in high def and close up get this app. Very realistic telescope type view..Version: 2.2.1

Absolutely stunning!I’m a very dedicated amateur astronomy educator, and I spend a lot of time showing people the moon. I’m sad to say that my knowledge of the names of the moon’s craters and highlands is middling at best. This app is a beautiful and easy-to-use tool for reviewing those names, for figuring out what you can see on the moon when, and for generally exploring our closest celestial neighbor. There’s nothing half as good on the app store for learning our moon.Version: 2.3

Great companion to my telescopeThis is a great aide to telescopic observation..Version: 2.3

Good iOS app for Lunar observers.I've been using this app for some time for Lunar feature observation/identification. It great to be able to reverse the 'atlas' left to right as seen in my 8" SCT and small refractor. Sure beats trying to look through the back of a paper atlas at the scope. Recommended. Don Horne.Version: 2.3

PLaisantBonne application..Version: 2.2.4

Great AppVery pleased with the information that this app shows..Version: 2.3

WoweeDoesn't get much better unless you've actually been there. Worth a lot more than free, but I'm not complaining, thanks for a great app..Version: 0

The Moon in your handsThis is an excellent app for anyone who looks up and enjoys looking at the moon. With the new lunar missions NASA will be launching everyone should invest in it.Version: 2.3

Beginner Astronomy geek!Downloaded the free version and then this paid one, is it worth it? In my opinion, yes. It only costs 69p and doesn't on the face of it seem to do much more than the free version. However it runs much smoother but takes up more memory, but on balance, if you are interested in astronomy then yes, get it. I have recently bought a telescope and have no doubt when looking at the moon it will certainly be helpful when understanding what I am looking at, already the large crater I have seen through it is called the "Sea Of Crisis" and that a Russian spacecraft named Luna 24 landed there in August 1976..Version: 2.2.3

Astonishing. Great job!!Very, very clever. This is one of the very best apps of any kind I've seen, and the more you know about how the moon works, the more you'll appreciate the developers' care and ingenuity. I was about to suggest that they simulate the monthly libration wobble, when I found I could spin the date and it librated its little heart out. The manual phase lighting option is gorgeous, and the fully configurable telescope view reversals are simple and wonderful. An extensive crater name listing and automatic locator works both in flyover mode and locked to telescope view. Markers for spaceflight landings and central aspect points for Earth and Sun. Congrats to the developers for aiming high and caring to do it accurately and beautifully. I instantly spent the .99 on the HD versions for Moon & Mars. Thanks very much, and I hope to see more from you..Version: 2.1.1

Very goood but plz....Very good but plz repair obsolete links. Great views. Marco.Version: 2.3

NiceSuper high res imagery. Looks lush. Very pleasing..Version: 2.2.1

PeterAmazing app, not only can you see the moon as it is in the sky but you can also show how it will vary through the months, including the effects of libration! The most amazing bit is that the varying illumination and shadows are accurately represented, this app means you don't now need a telescope to see the moon at it's best!!.Version: 0

Please update!!!Please update the app by adding the names of phases like full moon for example and all the other names of all the moon phases thank you. PS this update is mandatory to give your app a five star rating and a 5.0 rating cause according to the App Store the app is 4.7..Version: 2.3

Measurement toolAll this needs is a measurement tool like google earth and this would be perfect..Version: 2.3

So Worth my $1 spendThis is truly HD and if It's cloudy outside your home and you can't view the moon well guess what this app shows you how the moon is exactly looking at your local time :D love this app Thank You for making!.Version: 2.2.1

Excellant appThere seems to be a lot more to see in this app. Very clear at some points. I am still learning how to use it though..Version: 2.3

FabulousWorth every penny and more, if you're a Moon geek like me. Almost a substitute for looking at it through my scope!.Version: 2.2.4

Excellent so far!Vary nice app. Just with a couple of suggestions. 1. I wish I could manually enter accurate coordinates for my location instead of trying to slide my finger around on a tiny map. I presume the Auto Location feature is only for those with 3G service. 2. Also, I understand why the labels vary in size, but if there was a way to keep them at high resolution when zoomed in, that would be great..Version: 0

Fabulous App - One of my Must-Have'sThis app is amazing. If you're into astronomy or not, it's a must-have for the iPad. Just having the globe do nothing more than spin smoothly is satisfying in itself. My favorite feature is the Illumination slider. It accurately simulates the shadows as the Moon goes through it's phases. Search for Rupes Recta (the "Straight Wall"), a 1,000 mile long fault caused by a Moon quake, visible through small telescopes as a pencil line across the surface. This app finds Rupes Recta quickly, then simulates the shadows perfectly using the slider. It's hard to believe the app is priced so low for the iPad. It's great value at twice the price. To "Midnight Martian", the author, what were you thinking?.Version: 2.2.4

Beautiful, excellent app.Just as the title says, wonderful application for those interested in astronomy or just curious about our cosmic neighbor..Version: 2.3

Worth all 99 pennies!!!To be perfectly honest, the paid version of this app offers only slightly more detail than the free app. However, the app itself is so interesting and well designed, that I was willing to pay the 99 cents in appreciation and support of a great app! In other words, I'd have been happy to pay 99 cents for the free version! It's very detailed and in one mode where the retangular option box merely has the distance tag, it is almost as if you are in the lunar module itself, orbiting the moon! For those space affecionados, this is an app worth more than the cost! See also the Mars version from the same creator!.Version: 2.1

Great utility for amateur astronomers like me :-)Thanks for this application which I am glad to have purchased. I'm a casual amateur (using two Schmidt Cassegrain scopes) and the application is useful for planning, refining and following up observing sessions. Our moon is the brightest object in the night sky, easily observable from ubiquitous light polluted cities. The application simplifies & optimises my lunar viewing learning experience....Version: 2.3

100% worth itI’m an amateur astronomer and this app is pretty darn great for students like myself. 10/10.Version: 2.3

IPhone and iPad Retina!!!I love the Moon and having a great 3D model of it in my phone and iPad is incredible. The globe mode is even better than the telescope mode and really makes you realize that you've only seen one side of the moon your whole life. I highly recommend this unbelievable app and the Mars one too! I have over 500 apps and these are my favourites by far. They give you an uncanny feeling of actually being there, not just of viewing the surface but actually visiting the body in space. The adjustable lighting reveals that the Moon is not only 3D in the sense of being a globe but also in the sense of having actual 3D craters ect embossed into its surface. It contains a stupefying amount of information about our little brother - more than even an astronaut going there would need - and the swipe gestures for zooming and panning and orbiting are so smoothly and intuitively interpreted that you feel like you're controlling it with your mind rather than your screen. Truly astounding app - thank you for this and for the Mars one as well - please tell me that a similar Earth app is on the way. Thanks so much for making this a universal app that works on the iPhone!!!.Version: 2.2

Outstanding appI always use it during evening observations. I wish I could send it back to my 12 year old self in 1969 ! A small improvement would be to add Ranger spacecraft impact points. Noticed that tonight looking at crater Alphonsus where Ranger 9 crashed.Version: 2.2

WonderfulThis is a wonderful App, thank you. The free version is great, and this is that little bit better. ... an absolute bargain at 59p. Just two feature requests: 1. Could you please add 'print' and/or 'save' facilities. 2. Could you look at making the contrast variable, to simulate 'earth-glow'..Version: 2.1

PerfectA fantastic application for an astronomer such as myself. Has just the amount of detail I need, and with owning multiple telescopes I much appreciate the mirror image and rotation features. Job well done!.Version: 2.2.1

ExcellentGreat little app, been very useful for a reference whilst at the scope because of the reversed view option which matches what one sees through the scope. All features on the moon have links to more info on the web, well worth the price!.Version: 2.2.4

Excellent appThis is such a good app I am amazed how much has gone in to it. The tools are very functional especially the slider to shadow the moon which makes the craters etc stand out almost a 3d affect all for 69p.Version: 2.2.4

Jaw-dropping!Thanks Michael for this phenomenal app. The 'step through time' function is most excellent! And the higher res images look wonderful on the new iPad!.Version: 2.1.1

Love itGorgeous, simple and well designed. Excellent 3D effect - lunar feature names float over the terrain as you rotate the moon globe. Has a peculiar otherworldly calming effect when I play with it. And great info too. Well worth the money, get it!.Version: 2.2.1

Gorgeous appResolution on retina is stunning and 3D is a bonus. If its the moon you want to study, this is a great buy..Version: 2.2.4

Solid appSimple and functional. Best app to use by telescope i used..Version: 2.3

Stunning appI am very happy with this purchase. It does far more than what I had hoped for. From the detailed and changing shadows, the telescope view and fast forward time options (the Moon's wobble is demonstrated very clearly) all make this an exceptional application..Version: 0

Beautifully done.Super hi-res rendering of our steadfast friend, Luna. The view options are a great feature, either from your location on earth, or a free view from space. You can also flip (invert) the view from earth in the horizontal and vertical planes to match the view through your telescope making this a highly useful astronomy companion. Honestly, I haven't been able to tell a difference between the free version and the $0.99 "HD" version, but $0.99 is a real bargain for either. The dev deserves some chedduh for this beauty, so pay the man!.Version: 2.1.1

Astronomically awesome! This is a wonderful resource for knowing about the moon. I find this to be a beautiful app, and lovers of astronomy will appreciate it. If you want to get to know our one and only moon, get this app!.Version: 2.2.4

BrilliantFantastic App!! Love it. Use it lots and really helps learning all those features. Excellent how you can switch the view whether I'm looking through my binoculars or telescope..Version: 2.2.4

One of the best!Great app. Easy to use. I would like to see a couple of additions and changes. Adding a better ephemeris with information on the phase, age, moon's longitude of the solar sub lunar point and the sun's selenographic co-longitude would make it more useful for amateur astronomers. I would also like to see better definition of the lunar terminator. There is not enough demarcation between day and night making it hard to determine the phase..Version: 2.2.4

BrilliantAnyone wishing to identify many of the Moon's features or determine phase variations across a lunar 'day', this app does it well. Highly recommended astronomer and/or student tool - or simply a tool for anyone keen to learn more about our nearest celestial neighbour..Version: 2.3

Moon Globe HDIt's a great app,very well done! Lots of fun..Version: 2.2.4

BrilliantWell worth the money, it's stunning to look at and it's very in depth detail and information helps me plan out where to look when I can get my telescope out..Version: 2.2.4

Fantastic!Perfect for viewing and learning about the moon! An excellent astronomy app!.Version: 2.2.4

Cape KennedyIn my opinion this is a very good app for looking at the surface of the Moon. With excellent graphics, information and access to the web, for photos and details of what you are looking at. This app could be used in conjunction with binoculars or a telescope it will give you a very detailed map of the surface with pinpointed landing sites and more. Well worth the money..Version: 2.1.1

V2.3 - An excellent app at the eyepieceThis app along with Moon Atlas & MoonMap Pro form an excellent set of tools for use at the eyepiece. Each app has something different to offer the lunar observer. With Moon Globe HD you have the ability to set the sun angle and this helps with identification of fine detail under a variety of lighting conditions. Overhead view is great too as you can change the viewing angle. Helpful for fine tuning the libration view. Secondary crater nomenclature is missing but that is minor as the other apps mentioned have this. Flying over the surface is nice eye candy. I have the HD version on an iPad 2 and Moon Globe non HD on an iPhone 5s. There is more detail and a greater level of zoom available in the HD version. Recommended..Version: 2.3

Unbelievable! This is an astonishing app! It's unbelievable how they are able to maintain realistic lighting contrast and shadows as the terminator progresses through the lunar month, and as you zoom in on a feature, the clarity remains undiminished almost to the very end. I guesstimate that at it's closest zoom it's the same as using a 300x eyepiece--the crater Clavius fills the whole screen! Four stars because of three things: the terminator needs to be more clearly defined (as it appears in a telescope) and giving the current longitude of the terminator would be enormously helpful to amateur astronomers. Also, the labels are totally white. At full moon some craters (like Tycho & Aristarchus) are also totally white, so the labels can't be read. Is it possible to use a font that has black borders around the letters? But these are minor issues compared to the overall impact. It boggles the mind!.Version: 2.2.4

Good reference.I would like to see a grid for scale..Version: 2.3

Good but...I very much appreciate the quality of this app, but the zoom only shows from 200 km up. That's about 18 times higher than airplanes above the earth. I wish I could get closer like google earth. That's why I give it 4 stars..Version: 2.1.1

WowThis is the best rendering of the moon I have ever seen. You won't regret getting this for 1 buck. One star off because the position on earth thing doesn't work, I changed the position all over the earth and the moon view stayed the same..Version: 2.2.4

Amazing App!Fantastic detailed map of the moon with various orientation option adds another dimension to my telescope viewing. Thank you!.Version: 2.3

BEST MOON APPAll inclusive moon app. I've downloaded dozens of sub par apps looking for this one and just wish I found it first! 360 completely zoom-able view of entire moon with full labels and links! You can easily spend hours blissfully lost in this app. The calendar/shadow function is amazing. The lunar landing maps are amazing. The function, speed, and detail are AMAZING. buy this app!.Version: 2.2.4

Great tool for moon gazerThis app is a great into to the lunar surface features..Version: 2.3

ProcclesResolution ok, but a fantastic App for the money..Version: 2.3

Our Solar System....This is where knowledge of our Solar System begins....the Moon. Get to know our nearest neighbor w. this outstanding app..Version: 2.3
