✓ How to explore MarsTired of surfing NASA websites and crashes? Take 20 minutes and explore the planet, explore the links. You'll be putting on 3d glasses and hanging on the rim of Victoria crater. This is a good central app where you can see the detail of what you're looking for then explore the links, come back, and off again. You'll feel closer to Mars and the resolution is much better than many of the other planetary apps..Version: 2.2.4

✓ Beginner astronomy geek!Just about the only reason. Have only given this 4 stars is because through my telescope Mars is just a dot, the moon which I have given 5 I can fill my eyepiece with! Well worth 69p of course with a potted tour of the planet which Moon HD doesn't seem to have(?). This app. Does use a lot of memory, getting on for half a gig. Larger than the Moon version. Sorry if this seems a big deal but with only 16 gig to begin with I have to choose carefully, Why the disparity I wonder? ( should have bought the 32 gig I pad but there you are!)..Version: 2.1.1

✓ Very well doneThis is a very well-organized app, with plenty of detailed explanations. The globe itself has good resolution and can switch to topographical mode. The 3D view wsa a surprise,and I'm looking forward to seeing it with 3D glasses at some point. It offers a guided tour, an alphabetical list of features, or filters data two ot three different ways. Anyone but the people at the Jet Propulsion Lab should find new things to learn about Mars here. It surprised me how good this app was, and I can't think of anything realistic that I could ask for that isn't here..Version: 0

✓ Amazing app...if you can spare the memory.First of all, 594 MB????????????? That's insane! Fortunately, I bought a 64GB since I always run out of memory on my portible devices. If I had a 16GB I would have avoided this. But, the app is stunning if you are an astronomy geek. An amazing amount of detail. And a great deal at $0.99. I will likely try to find more room for the Moon Globe HD when it gets released (hopefully soon). ✓ Virtual OrbitThis app seems to put me in orbit above Mars. I like to zoom in, slide the viewing window to the horizon, & slowly rotate the planet, so that I seem to be looking through the window of a space craft. I expect that it's the closest that I'll ever get to the surface of Mars in this life-time. Thank you..Version: 2.3
✓ SuperbI can't praise this app highly enough. The Mars globe is a proper 3D object with actual elevation of surface features, the detail level is FAR higher than the much more expensive Mars Atlas by Horsham and there are both false colour surface elevation and red/green anaglyph maps. The illumination changes as the planet rotates in sunlight etc etc. Seriously beautiful. Only minor glitch is polar rendering where the program doesn't load the high quality images for the lower sectors until you rotate the planet so they face up. But that really isn't problematic and should be fixable with an update. The only major suggestions I can ask for are even more resolution (you'll never please astronomers) and perhaps the ability to fly close over the surface - would be cool to fly down the Valles Marinaris. ✓ Very pleased indeedThis app does exactly what i was hoping for: shows me a current view of Mars. I have corroborated the view with another astronomy program and it's right on. This is will become an invaluable aid whilst I observe with my telescope. Never again will I have to use paper charts and guess what features I'm looking at. Bravo!.Version: 2.1.1

✓ Great For Understanding Martian GeographyI bought this app while reading the sci-fi classic Mars Trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson. The books make many long and detailed references to Martian geography, which plays a crucial role in the series. This app was very helpful in picturing what I was reading, and made the books much more accessible. I would recommend this for anyone reading the Mars Trilogy, or for anyone who just wants to get a detailed look at Mars. I deducted a star because the controls are sometimes difficult to use..Version: 0

✓ Almost perfectThe map landscape is highly detailed however there are 2 major flaws. 1 the atmosphere of mars is actually a baby blue color look at NASA Hubble photos of mars in 2003 and 1997 and you will know what I am talking about most NASA surface images show the sky sometimes as an orange brown color because dust storms 2 the face on mars needs to be a landmark it is landmarked on google Mars. 40.89 degrees North , 9.55 degrees west.Version: 2.3

✓ Window from Mars orbitI like to zoom in as close to the surface as possible, position the horizon in the middle of the view, set Mars spinning very slowly and just relax and watch. Very relaxing. Just like having my own view from Mars orbit. Would love to see a similar Earth Globe HD product. Though that might prove a very difficult challenge, given the beauty and detail and data volume and processing requirements involved. Still, would love to see it attempted. ✓ Worth every penny!To be perfectly honest, the paid version of this app offers only slightly more detail than the free app. However, the app itself is so interesting and well designed, that I was willing to pay the 99 cents in appreciation and support of a great app! In other words, I'd have been happy to pay 99 cents for the free version! It's very detailed and in one mode where the retangular option box merely has the distance tag, it is almost as if you are in the space probe itself, orbiting the planet!
