✓ Simply does not work.I bought this app a few versions ago. At that time the author acknowledged that there was some bugs and released several new versions to fix them. Unfortunately it has not worked. I'm currently in Europe on holiday and have tried to use it several times. Every time it has proven unreliable in indicating north. The last time was whilst on a train to Munich. I had the iPad flat on the table and started the compass. It appeared to indicate north. But when I rotated the iPad slightly on the table, it swung by over 30 degrees, far move than I had rotated the iPad. Very easily I was able to get the compass so confused that it was indicating any direction I choose as north, even south. Not hard at all. Even with a restart and just gentle movements to try and get north, it would not consistently indicate north from second to second..Version: 0

If you're looking to show off the graphics on your new iPad, this is the app to go for.. If, on the other hand, you are looking for a working compass, I suggest you get down to the camping section of Poundland... As per the previous reviews, the needle on this one redefines the word 'random'. I only downloaded it because I thought "it couldn't possibly be that bad", but trust me, it is..... I tried it indoors, outdoors, vertically, horizontally, upside down, even tried to tempt it with a magnet.... Nothing !! We shouldn't really complain about free apps, but this is so beautifully designed, they must have forgotten to actually make it practical..... Suggestion for v2 ?? ✓ I think I see the problem...It's not correcting for the ipad's accelerometer-derived orientation; ie: which way up it thinks it is even if in reality it's lying approximately horizontal on it's back. As long as it's "upright" (ie:with the bottom on the short side with the home button) and on its back, the readings are approximately right. Tilt it a bit so it flips 180 degrees and the compass will flip too. Likewise if you go to a landscape orientation. It still seems only approximately right and quite laggy. Is it possible the iPad doesn't have a great compass sensor? Do we have an exemplar app that can demonstrate it working right?.Version: 0

✓ Don't click the book!Clicking the book in the compass takes the screen to advertising an there is no way to return to the compass. To me this says "I don't care about the user as long as they buy my stuff.". Boooo.
