✓ Best useful train app for foreigners in Japan!I am currently traveling in Japan. I tried to use Google maps and Apple maps at first but both maps didn't provide enough detailed alternatives for train rides. I have been using this train app to look at all the different trains going from Osaka to Kyoto and vice versa. I get to see and choose from super express Thunderbirds, wide view Hida, Shinkansen, or new express train. For JR pass holders, it is a no brainier to ride a more comfortable and quicker train. This invaluable train app has made my train ride decision so much easier as a foreigner in Japan. 100% recommended..Version: 1.4.1
✓ Great app for using JR passUsed this app extensively during my recent trip to Japan. I didn't pay for it but it would have been worth every penny if I had. Easy to use and very helpful that it tells you which platform you arrive at and leave from if taking a connection. Found it helpful to take a screenshot of the train I wanted to show to the booking agent when making seat reservations. Only minor complaint is that the JR pass option didn't always seem to work perfectly. A few of the smaller trips we took could have been taken on local trains on which the pass was not valid but these still showed up on the search results..Version: 1.4.1
✓ Used with JR Rail PassThis was invaluable to us on our two week tour of Japan. By using the JR rail pass option we were able to find trains that were valid. (This search option seems only to be on iPhone). Provided very useful detail on the platforms too, and whether there were unreserved cars. We used the 30 day free trial period so didn’t have to pay to use it. Never used the voice functionality, and you don’t need to to get the value out of it..Version: 1.4.2
✓ Oh well, I guess I buy; it's well worth it!I have been using this App for 25 days and it has been a life saver (kinda). I got stuck in Tokyo because my flight was delayed over night; but I didn't want to wait to get back to my family down south, so I took the train system. This App worked like a champ. I thought I would miss a leg, or be confused, but I was able to make it from transfer stop to transfer start with no trouble. I don't use the voice feature, so I can't comment on it. The one thing I wish would be changed is for it to use the iPhone's map, when mapping a station. I love this App and will be buying the year plan..Version: 1.3.0

✓ Best Train App for English SpeakersThis has got to be the best app available to use when trying to use the Japanese train system. It's shows you the transfer times and you can even narrow your search to certain types of trains (ie. Shinkansen limited express, or local train). ✓ LOVE HYPERDIA BY VOICE - DON’T VISIT JAPAN WITHOUT ITHave just spent 3 weeks on a family holiday with 2 children travelling extensively across Japan with HYPERDIA and a Green Car Japan Railcard (JR). I could not possibly rate HYPERDIA anything less than 5 stars and would have given more stars if available. It works like a dream at plotting your route options (5 options at a time) telling you the platforms required, arrival and departure times. On more obscure journeys it tells you the price of the bits of the journeys on private rail systems not supported by the JR pass. On complex journeys you know to the minute (this being Japan not UK) what time you will get off a train, how long you have to change to the next train and which platform to move to. We didn’t use the voice facility because typing destinations in worked well for us (make sure to type destinations accurately. FANTASTIC APP - ONE OF THE BEST I HAVE EVER USED and free for the first 30 days so don’t load it too early. That said it would be worth paying for if they started charging..Version: 1.4.2

✓ IOS 5 IncompatibleUpdate: Did what it was supposed to do before iOS 5. Updating because it did work well. At least before now. I'm an iOS developer. This app is incompatible with iOS 5, it crashes right after boot up. They need to fix this ASAP before it's released this fall, or A LOT of people are going to be very unhappy!.Version: 1.3.1
