✓ Good site overall. But app is wonkyI've bought and sold cars on Carsales and had a good experience on both sides of the transaction. The app is funky though. Often when I message someone, it shows 404 error right away, then only shows the conversation when refreshed. Other times, I tap on one conversation, then it shows a different one. I have to backtrack and select the other conversation, and only then does it show the one I actually want to respond to. In a pinch, the messaging on the website works fine, so it's not the end of the world. But it is annoying as all get-out..DistfmVersion: 2.44.4

✓ Needs improvements via notificationsFor some reason I don't get any notifications from the app. I've allowed notifications but not sure if it is actually a feature. Would prefer instant notifications when someone changes the price of a car I have "saved" or a new car is posted under a saved search which "allows alerts" instead I receive a summary email on an inconsistent schedule with cars that I've already looked at online and hadn't even been posted recently. I'm currently looking to buy a new car and find myself having to manually search the app to see if there are new cars as the emails weren't helpful so I turned off alerts. Message notifications would also be helpful, sometimes the messages pop up if the app is on in the background but not a proper notification. An option to report an ad listing that isn't correctly listed as well. I'm looking for a Renault megane 250 Trophee and the number of listings that incorrectly have this as the model is doing my head in so messaged them to let them know they have the wrong model for their ad.Domedwards1985Version: 2.40.3

✓ I bypassed the forced app update pop upsThis Carsales app works on semi old software version that so called dropped support. They do it on purpose so you can update your device to the latest snail and then eventually buying a new device. No thanks. This developer is trash for re- enforcing this. Stop deleting my review I will keep copying and pasting from now one with a bit of a button. Edit response Okay tell me what feature this carsales app needs that requires the minimum iOS app version? You want as much audience as you can get, these blokes have old devices on iOS 10/12 which is still good! You should remove the pop that “the app can’t be used” because that’s full of lies I can bypass it and it’s fully functional not everyone can do this but I like to bring this awareness about the the developers just how everything is getting exposed in the media!.ALP3R21Version: 4.49.0

✓ Doesn’t really do what you needAt first glance the app seems fine but having been using it for a couple of weeks now (and in that time having been unable to buy a car) it really doesn’t do what you need it to. Main issues: - no notifications come through. So if someone does reply to you then you have to remember to go into the app and check all the time. So these get stale really quickly - sellers rarely respond to you (so honestly what is the point!). I imagine due to the same notification issue the other way - however, while you get no notifications at all that will help you, you get constant emails saying “interest increasing in this vehicle, act now”. Well I did. I messaged them and they haven’t responded, so what do you want me to do? - being able to save vehicles is one thing but as important is being able to hide those ones you have looked at and dismissed. Just end up trawling through the same old ads I have found Market Place loads better and more responsive, generally within seconds, presumably as people on Messenger actually get a notification!.El-gordoVersion: 4.10.0

✓ Great potential, needs bug fixesOverall I enjoy this app. It’s fun to browse what cars are on the market using the filter and sort settings. I think the Saved Cars feature is very useful, however, it would be more convenient if cars that were sold were automatically removed from the Saved Cars list, or if there was a function to delete all sold saved cars at once. The biggest issue with the Saved Cars feature is the bugs. Sometimes when I’m trying to delete saved cars, I get a message saying unable to delete saved item. ✓ Good appI like this app. The app helps retrieve a good selection of cars based on the parameters entered but I don't like the fact that you can't also select the types of brands that you want to include in the filter. ✓ Not a lot of value in this - Expect notifications, but NOT for messagesSo as a seller, it cost me around $170 per ad to get my cars up on Carsales with premium ads. And the result has been far from impressive with more or less complete silence, with exception of a bunch of shameful offers through various car buying companies. My cars, which were fairly new, were fairly priced according to the price guide they offer and compared to what else was out there. In fact, they were even on the lower end of the value graph. Paying for a premium ad made absolutely no difference. But the worst part are the notifications. You get zero notifications for messages, but you will get bombarded with notifications about any saved search and or car you have shown interest in. With little progress after three weeks, I decided to put the same cars up on Facebook market place and had multiple enquires within hours. And it didn’t cost me a cent. In hindsight I should have taken the family out for dinner for the $300 odd the ads cost me all up My conclusion from this experience is that as a seller, Carsales is a waste of both time and money. They collect a fee for which you get minimal exposure I used to like Carsales, but they have clearly slipped behind over the years. A reward structure, lower prices and better targeted advertising would add much more value to what is currently a subpar product..PatisonitVersion: 2.37.4

✓ Not displaying vehicle pricesThis app is usually quite good but recently carsales listings have not been showing the prices. Instead on every listing it displays “enquire for price”. No one wants to message someone and wait for a response Without first knowing the price of a car. It could be a car that is way out of your budget, and you’ve just wasted two people’s time now. I tried the website as well on mobile, desktop (Mac and windows), using mobile data and wifi, and mobile app only to have the same experience. I don’t use a VPN so this seems to be a carsales issue. ✓ Scum that Rip Off People ContinuallyDO not buy any Toyota GX 4WD without checking if car has been resprayed, car hasn’t been sandblasted for rust then covered in black paint. The car will most likely be Grafite Grey badged with GX badges, advertised with all GX accessories of which it won’t even have blue tooth. Check the registration because he /she will lie when paying the CTP Slip which Insurance then suspend the registration & you’ll be driving a car with no rego or Insurance. Even though he has been advised, he doesn’t care in the slightest. The price they will be asking is about $58,000. This person has zero empathy nor any feeling for anyone. They have done this over 50 times then threaten you. If you’ve been ripped off by this person don’t back down & remember the receipt means nothing if a car is sold fraudulently or anything has deliberately been misleading. They will also write on the receipt “car taken as is as now” & sadly think they can hide behind the receipt. That is not legally the case. Good luck to anyone who has been & is affected by these people I say these because yesterday he had a car up under a females name today under a males name..Beware if ScumVersion: 2.31.0

✓ Don’t know what’s wrongHave been trying to access Carsales on both desktop and app for a few days now and it’s just not loading as fast as it used to. Pages aren’t loading, page errors keep popping up. I’ve tried going out in public several times to access it using phone data and not home wifi and still not able to have full browsing access. It’ll work for a good minute and then collapse the next. I’ve tried on my partners phone and laptop and same thing happens. Not sure what’s going on but please fix. I’d rather buy a car through Car Sales than Gumtree..Fifi1404Version: 2.48.2
