✓ Super Fun Game / Surprising DepthGreat game that I've played off and on for over 2 years. Several play-throughs later I decided to drop a review. There is plenty of content out there for you to dig up to read about the mechanics of the game, but rest assured, if you are looking for a quality game to entertain you then get Game Dev Story. Perfect pocket sized sim and especially if you’re a fan of simulation with cute graphics and actual depth to the gameplay. Kairosoft are the masters of the phone simulation/tycoon game and that reputation is for good reason. ✓ Needs More Micromanagement!I absolutely love this game, I bought both this and Game Dev Tycoon to see which is better and without a single doubt this game exceeds the other by ALMOST every margin. The graphics, content quality, pace, and polish of Game Dev Story is without a doubt superior - however, Game Dev Tycoon has more smaller features that play into the development of a game and gives the player a greater sense of control in what they’re actually making. I would be willing to pay double the price of this game to have similar features in this, such as an option for graphics for your game, the ability to create custom engines, the CHOICE of engines, and so on. All that aside, I love this game and have become easily addicted to it in my free-time to the point where I’ve uninstalled other games I would have played frequently as they’ve become irrelevant after downloading Game Dev Story. Awesome game, developers! I hope you’ll look into updating and adding new features in the future, I would love nothing more than to have a perfect little tycoon game for mobile!.Version: 2.43

Simply Brilliant!Don't usually write reviews but felt compelled to do so - but only after 24 hours of non-stop playing, losing 2.4 friends due to neglect, my wife going on strike, going temporarily blind and finally having to book myself into a game-addict intervention program! I just can't stop playing this game - great fun and got that 'just one more go' appeal that will probably turn you into a social recluse - but who cares - buy it!! ✓ Game Dev Story is a fun time sinkEveryone loves video games. Everyone has a phone. So logic would dictate that everyone loves games on their phone. But what if you could make games on your phone? That’s what you can do here. And it’s glorious. There’s so moderation to game titles and companies so you can let your freak flag fly or you can make a respectable and modern game company and make the games you would like to see. Of course you don’t actually MAKE the game, as is the case with most games from Kairosoft, but the sim life is the best life. I download this game, play for a bit, delete it after a while, and then I’ll redownload it and play again. Rinse, lather, repeat. It’s a fun game, not amazing depth, but if you have a cool 10-15 minutes here and there, you’ll be enraptured by the power of owning your own game studio in a world that does not give a single flying fox that your Game studios name is problematic. ✓ Great Game, if a Little Short.Fantastically addictive game that reminded me of the hours I poured into theme park and theme hospital as a kid. The only complaint I have as that after upgrading your office a couple of times and training up staff there is not much to do. You quickly get to a point where your staff is good enough that all your games and consoles are #1 hits without you even needing to advertise. Still worth the money for a quick blast now and then and it's fun while it lasts. Hopefully we will see a sequel with more features like expanding the console releasing mechanic or having R&D departments, VR and bigger offices..Version: 2.09

The only improvements I’d make are scaling up the award prizes to how far along you are. The grand prize was great to win after so long but the prize money was negligible. ✓ I love it!I play this game for hours! there is so much room for creativity and experimentation. This game is like a dr*g. I love for the gratification of getting a good score from critics. 100% recommend!! It’s perfect if you just need something to do for 10 minutes while you have a smoke or if you like playing games on the toilet. It can be played in small amounts or for hours. I used to play this a kid and although i play other games, i always come back to it. I love the format and the style. It’s simple but effective. Since there is so much room for creativity, there is something in this game for everyone. Additionally, it appeals to my competitive spirit. Trying to win awards and get good scores from critics is so much fun, especially when it pays off. I love the fast pace and navigating the struggles and set backs. It is the perfect amount of challenging but it’s engaging enough to continue playing through the struggle. And, once again, the pay off is so worth it! The cleverness of the references and in-jokes make it clear how much the developers cherish and revere the rich culture and history of video games, and like any good game, this one is very hard to put down. It’s got the basic formula that’s carried across most of their titles. Really charming and addictive game. And at a couple of pound it’s well priced. Unfortunately their other games have inflated in price over the last few years. They all used to be a couple of pound and consistently priced across the back catalogue. For those who complain about graphics need to understand the game was made in 1997, while there was still better graphics even then, this was the style they chose. Paradoxically, I have become basically incapable of receiving the Grand Prize. My games sell millions of copies and consistently rank at #1 but that Grand Prize always hovers just out of reach. Every couple years I come back to it for a play through and it is just as fun as the first time. I’d pay triple the price for this game. Also as a side note, I greatly prefer the original over the remake another studio did. The remake may look a bit updated but the lose the soul of what made the original fun. After you have played through once, I highly recommend pulling up a chart of the game type combinations online. However, it can feel random at times how good you do at moments.
