KORG iMS-20 for Positive User Reviews

Jaw Dropping! Now, add in MIDI...For starters, let's just hash out the economics of this App. To go out and buy a vintage MS 20 is going to cost you about $2,500 to $5,000 depending on the market and the condition of the synth- then add an extra $1,000 to $3,000 for the hard to find sequencer module and about $500 to $1,000. So, to buy those two components alone you'd have to shill out something between $3,000 to $6,000- that's not counting in the mixer, drum machine and Kaossalator pads which would be a pain to interface with that set of vintage gear. Instead, by buying this, you're getting all of that minus the hassles for 16 bucks. Now, that being said, is this the same as having the actual hardware at your fingertips? No, it's not. But, it is the closest most of us will come to it. The bottom line is that you can't beat this price for vintage monophonic sounds that are like the real deal. This app even goes a step further by giving you the "hands on" feeling of running your own patches. In other words, this is nothing less than incredible! If you're into playing music, DJing or analog synths, this App is an incredible thing at an incredible price. it's so good that you can use it live or in the studio to lay down some heavy quick beats or screaming analog synth riffs. Finally, now that there is MIDI support in iOS 4.2, any chance you'll add MIDI support to this so it can be even more powerful?.Version: 1.0.0

Fantastic app!Sounds are gorgeous, interface is impeccable. I used to play with the real thing a (long) while back .Well worth the price. Well done Korg! Highly recommended..Version: 0

Forget the easy to use DAWsI love this software. I got tired of these "press this button to make music" apps. Those are just glorified games. This is perfect emulation of the famous synth. Now I have a chance to master this equipment without emptying my wallet. It's perfect recreation of how music is done in the analog world, down to the patch cables. This has great educational value too as it will make things easier for those who are focused on digital production as it is essentially based on analog algorithms. Thanks a lot KORG!.Version: 1.5.2

Excellent within GadgetHad this app for a couple of years but could never really get into the workflow of it until it was integrated into the brilliant Korg Gadget. Wow what a synth it is. Well worth the money I paid for it. 👌.Version: 1.7.0

Super Busy+++The app is better than great, it sounds THAT good. So no matter what’s missing, to ask for more is almost criminal! That said ... the documentation really not that great. It could link to the original MS-20 docs which clarify A LOT about the patch bay, There’s also an external signal processor that can function as an envelope follower and an internal signal input (as most analogue synths) have. Both of those could be exposed the users such that iMS-20 could also. E used as a FX app within a chain, whether with audiobus or AUM or just as an input in a DAW, , BeatMaker, etc, or Gadget? Other than those requests what’s not to love about this thing.......It’s GR8!.Version: 1.6.6

Stood The Test Of Time!!!Still my favorite app after all these years. Sooooo many things you can do with Korg-ims 20 it’s a Great app. Perfect if your a creative person..Version: 1.7.3

Superb. Closer to the original than expectedFantastic and surprisingly powerful, I patched this the same way as my ms20 to see just how well they did, blown away by it. Patience and understanding is required but you can easily get everything from Hoover leads, sub bass, aggressive bass, even piano if you really try. It's brilliant and it shouldn't really be possible but it is 2015 I suppose. Worth every penny Would I like an update?? It would be nice to get some pwm switches or a sync switch so I didn't have to work so hard ;-).Version: 1.6.6

Simply awesomeBest app for making music but crashes in iOS 8 so had to restore back to 7.1.2. Korg, please update!!!!.Version: 1.6.3

Korg gadget?Just saying!.Version: 1.6.6

That's what I'm talkin about! My brain hurts from all I've learned since I downloaded this this morning! And so much more to do. I've played a few acoustic instruments in my day and missed the feeling of creating music now that I'm a tired worn out working stiff. The many toy music apps I've downloaded were nice, but quickly bored me. This thing promises a long adventure, melding music and an oddly-steampunky technology I really love. A patch panel! A billion dials! Blinky lights. I know many of you have had access to synthesizers forever. I'm old enough to remember when the Moog and the Arp came out. It baffled me then, and I never had more than a minute on the showroom floor to puzzle it out. And buying one of my own was never possible. So I forgot about it. Until today. Man, have I missed out. Now I have music, old school tech, and a very tricky puzzle (I like puzzles!). And a lot of new art to listen to from fellow users. Buy this app. Quick. Before the price goes up. If you miss it, buy it AFTER the price goes up. Easily worth it if you're just learning this stuff. BTW, for those having trouble reading the labels, you can set the iPad to zoom with a three finger tap. Just turn on zoom in the iPad accessibility settings. I have bad eyes, but I can read the panels fine in zoom when I need to..Version: 0

Grab this nowToo many features to mention. Great synth just like the real one. Sequencer and drum machine all make sense. Congrats to the developer. When will you convert the M1?.Version: 0

The best👍Korg the Number 1.Version: 1.7.6

AUv3?Come on Korg, a synth really needs to be AUv3 these days. So, just do it already!.Version: 1.7.3

AwesomeThis is a brilliant app, possibly one of the best you can buy. It's very very close to an MS20. My original MS20 owning mate went so far as to say, "it's an MS20...each one has it's own nuances, so it sounds like whatever machine they based it on". It's brash, wild, unapologetic and stands out. I'm sure it could sit in a mix but it's at its best when it's being pushed. With the routing options and slightly unconventional setup it's great for tweeking and coming up with unique sounds. The step sequencer is perfect for techno style bass lines and the drum machine section is brilliant, essentially making this a multi timbal MS20. The drums are all MS20 but don't worry, the presets give you some good starting points, from there, get playing. It's fun. It makes me want to experiment and touch it and that is a great recommendation. For me, it's a techno beast, nasty synth noises, weird stuff, cutting leads and bass lines are where it excels. The drums are fantastic too. It has a grit and originality to it that makes it very appealing to my ears, and I'm sure to many other producers. The in built pattern sequencer means you could in theory write a whole track using only this. Though it will export audio if you want to mix elsewhere. Love it. I don't think anyone will be disappointed by this. A great purchase..Version: 1.6.6

Blam!In one fell swoop, Korg has destroyed their competition. The best salespeople are educators. Korg has adopted the role of teacher - both in reiterating electronic history, and combining it with cutting edge sequencing techniques. The MS20 is a formant modelling analog synth. The Kaoss pad is an improvising sequencing beast. add the 2 together, you have Hundreds of dollars worth of gear for under 20$ already patched together properly. The original MS20 is used by William Ørbit, Aphex Twin, Hardfloor, Air, SkyLab, Stereolab, Vince Clarke, Astral Projection, Biosphere, Apollo 440, Mr. Oizo, Jimi Tenor, The Prodigy, OMD, Freddy Fresh, Luke Vibert, Einstuerzende Neubauten, Add N to (X), Daft Punk, Coldcut, Die Krupps, Skinny Puppy, Electronic Dream Planet, Jimmy Edgar, Front 242, Front Line Assembly, The Legendary Pink Dots, KMFDM, Severed Heads, Royksopp, The Faint, The Shamen, Jean-Michel Jarre, and Portishead. At the 2010 Shambhala (western canadas largest party, burning man north) Beardyman used 2 Kaoss pads with rave reviews. The exciting thing is the availability of making cutting edge sound in a dynamic fun way. My non musical friends can write beats I can improvise off just by playing with 2 xy Kaoss pads. Features: 1) Monophonic synth with 3 parameter controls, 3 voltage controls. The voltages can be patched to the patching bay to give a stunning array of multilayered multi-filtered effects. Parameters control individual settings on the synth. Instead of sequencing many parts, only one part is sequenced, the rest of the tones are generated from the original pattern. 2) 6 Drum patterns. Each drum can be manipulated in much the same way as the synth, ie HPF LPF 2x OSc, 3 modulators, and adsr but there are no parameter and voltage sequences. Very easy to create a beat using Kaoss pads to sequence. BOth synth and drums have sequenced pitch octave gate volume and panning. 3) each channel has its own Fx assignment [short/bpm delay, 2 reverbs, chorus/flanger, eq, compressor, lofi distortion, lpf/hpf/bpf, wah, decimator, grain shifter] and there is an overall fx send on the mixer, again with each channel having its own wet/dry This will be an absolute delight for anyone familiar with synthesis modelling and analog gear. dream come true. The patching bay can be tricky, i recommend downloading the manual for the original ms20 to get familiar with it. So far, easiest fastest way to get relevant current sounding synths, BEAUTIFUL deep intelligent bass, Super danceable intuitive rittims - of any instrument or program that i have ever seen. If anyone from Korg reads this, consider this my formal application for sponsorship so i can review and try any new stuff you have coming up :P.Version: 1.0.0

SmoothGreat app with plenty on offer. Very worth it if you know what you are doing :).Version: 1.5.0

Korg iMS20I love everything KORG makes and this app is no exception. My only wish is that it be a little easier to use. I am not entirely new to synthesizers but I am certainly no pro either. I understand that they want to faithfully recreate the MS20 as much as possible, but I don't want to have to get a degree in electrical engineering just to play this synth. I love using the Nintendo KORG DS10 and I just wish this app was as easy to use as that is. I thought after being familiar with the DS10 that this app would be a piece of cake... But it is much more difficult to manipulate, at least for me. It would get 5 stars if it were a little easier to use, amazingly fantastic app otherwise!!!.Version: 1.5.1

IPad pro crush after SoundCloud loading screenIPad pro crush after SoundCloud loading screen. Please update for iOS 9 and iPad pro..Version: 1.6.4

Just one more thingOne more thing would make this app perfect - support for USB midi keyboards and controls via the camera connection kit that is built into IOS 4.2. This feature should be standard across all iPad music apps moving forward, in my opinion. Please consider this, Korg. Otherwise, this IS the synth app I have been waiting for - I love the interface and depth of the sounds possible with it..Version: 1.0.0

KORG - Please - simple feature requests :-)It goes without saying that this is the most awesome, powerful virtual analog synth currently on the iPad. The sequencer makes it easy to create some good grooves. New Features that would be really cool: 1. Enable the iPad microphone to be routed to EXT SIGNAL IN... With some kind of gain control. This would enable vocoding etc!!!! Also maybe the output from the iPod app could also be optionally routed in so that an mp3 or wav can be used as the EXT SIGNAL source. 2. Some kind of facility to enable PRECISE values to be entered using knobs... E.g. Press and hold to get a text entry option, or something better. 3. Double tap on a knob to return it to it's last saved value... E.g. When editing fine tuning on VCO2 it's almost impossible to get it back to neutral..Version: 1.5.1

TerrificIt sounds great and is very easy to use..Version: 1.6.6

Monosynth Mobile Master's ProgramSince the original MS20 (or the mini) isn't really something you carry around and start playing at, say: the airport, or in a car, this app gives you a really close emulation of the synth and a sequencer to experiment with and get astoundingly life-like results. Really impressive app. Great reproduction of panel, sonics, character, and functions/features. When you aren't with your synths, this app furnishes you with limitless and useable synthesis power. I even tried some tricky patches from using the hardware version (namely: the paraphony via sample and hold trick), and it does just what it should. If you're a synthesis dork like me, you'll likely love it. Five star app..Version: 1.6.4

Super Sick MS i-Synth! GIVE US Midi SYNC!!!!!Awesome sound, one of the 1st apps for my iPad Air 1. Awesome sequencer, Drums would be IDEAL if they could be tweaked LIVE.... However this app would rule if it had Midi I/O. How hard can it be to add this feature? Every other iSynth has it... I have had iMS20 for over a year, still use it, glad to see it was recently updated for bug fixes etc, ya forgot one feature ....THE Midi!!! Sorry, WIST doesn't cut it... It's toy technology. If I could Sync this w/ Hardware I would add it to the table and not just record 4 bar loops for other apps/gear to play with. I ain't buying the hardware, the beauty of this is the state saving. I run the out into an analog filter. Anyway, big fan never the less. Korg rules - SD4000 delay, Toneworks, Microkorg, (2) ElectribeR, EMX, monotron Delay... All that. Sup' son?.Version: 1.6.6

Nothing compares to this!I play in a funk duo band called urbanfunkmachine, nothing but this app and a live drummer. Korg, You Guys Rock!!!!!! KORG ims-20 Still #1 app..Version: 1.6.6

It brought tears to my eyesAll my life I have struggled with various types music technology, fighting with the software to get it to do what I wanted to do. Nothing was ever smooth and intuitive and allowed me to just be creative. Then I got the iMS20. The workflow and interface are different than anything else I've seen, and it works so well for me. Finally, a tool that does what I want it to! I think of somthing and can just execute it. I can't even explain what this app means to me. It's literally a life changing piece of technology. This all probably sounds silly, but I am so grateful to have it. Some might think its an expensive app, but you really can't put a price on something like this..Version: 1.5.2

Fantastic, Just Needs One ThingIn the early 1980a the Korg MS-20 was something of the "poor-musician's: Minimoog. It had a lot of knobs, patch points, and sounded great. The iMS-20 faithfully recreates that instruments with all the knobs, almost all the patch points, and sounds great. But a key selling-point on the original instrument was a feature called ESP--External Signal Processor, which allowed the user to plug in a guitar or microphone and use the synthesizer to process the sound--it even had a pitch-to-voltage converter to use as a controller. The iMS-20 has all these except for a functional and all-important "Audio Input" allowing you to use the ESP features. Hopefully Korg will add this feature in the near future and the iMS-20 will fully live up to its potential (an iMS-50 would be a nice add-on, but not as vital)..Version: 1.5.2

KorgEPIC. worth every penny..Version: 1.6.6

Great but annoyingI've used this for a long time, made alot fo tracks with it. I really like the workflow, really like the sounds. These days though it crashes quite alot. Screen goes black in places and then it crashes, all unsaved work is lost. That coupled with terrible midi clock implementation mean that it falls somewhat short of the mark. I still love it though and for the price it's pretty hard to complain..Version: 1.6.4

Great app and sounds...This is an amazing app and will satisfy most users, whether experienced iOS producers or novice. At first sight it may seem over-whelming, so many knobs and buttons, but it's workflow is relatively simple to use, but it's fun to play with and it's a great learning tool for those, like me, unfamiliar with the working of synths. However, I do have 2 request of the developers - 1, please make a pdf version of the user manual. I don't like being online when making music and I would like to refer to the manual when I'm using the app. 2, I would like the export options to be integrated to the iOS platform, using audiocopy or audioshare. At the moment I have to export sounds and patterns to iTunes file share, which means getting the laptop out..Version: 1.6.4

Yep - itYou're getting a Korg for 39 bucks. Awesome, and way better than the other amateurish no-name soft synths out there..Version: 1.1.0

WowThis app is incredible - everything about it is right. From the way it has been translated to a touch screen, to the way it works, the features/functions it provides and the quality of sound it produces. The overall quality of this app is exceptional, and for a 1.0.0 release, the author deserves congratulations (and I've not encountered a single bug/flaw yet). This app (actually, the synthesizer it reproduces) is not a novice instrument, but if you want to learn about synthesis and get into it, this would be the best choice. If anyone has issues with things like how it may not be easy to set values exactly and super quickly, nudge them, then read the manual, there are little tricks that make that super easy. Basically, the vintage analog equipment it emulates is intuitive and very full featured, and the iPad implementation of it is also just as intuitive and user friendly, and a joy to use. Well done..Version: 1.0.0

Killer app for iPad?I'm currently using an iPad borrowed from work, but I will buy one specifically because of this app. Simply stunning. I had an actual MS-20 back when I was 18. This is a great reproduction but add stuff I could only have dreamed of back then. If I had one request it would be a Tap Tempo button somewhere..Version: 1.0.0

FunGood old fashioned fun at a good price, thank you korg, make more apps please..Version: 1.6.6

Key dudeLuv it.Version: 1.6.6

Good funI bought this after reading some reviews, and it is a lot of fun. I would like it to have a few more stock standard templates but this could be because it is new, and the templates and cloud connect will grow. So, hours of fun already had during boring airport and train transits in south east Asia. Even had some of the locals listening , great. App!.Version: 0

Wow.First impressions was : iPad app, how good could it be? Post first impressions : Wow. Not a massive synth head but even I'm impressed. It's easy to use, responsive touch. Only gripe is that the learning curve for those who have never used music apps such as this is steep. Recommend the Korg iElectribe, which is pretty much 1/3rd the content, but still really awesome to play around on. Think of this app as the advanced version. Defs 5/5..Version: 1.5.1

Simply the bestThis was the first music app I bought. I had no synth experience at all and only modest music skills. But within a couple of hours I had enough grasp of the screens to create my own unique music. I am still making discoveries after six months and no other music app enables me to create my own mood, from heavy to light, complex to simple, soundscape to pounding bass, jazz to funk, zero to no limit! I bought I electribe as well but find it just too "clubby". I also love the black and white no nonsense presentation of ms20. The sound cloud sharing is fantastic, and song bounce to i tunes is simple and easy to use. I like my stuff so much i have my own collection of korg CDs to drive to! Plus you can put tracks into mixtikl and create immense ambient tracks. It's worth the price and more..Version: 1.5.1

Simply stunning! This is the app that will put iPad synth apps on a whole new level. It makes most of the other synth apps out there sound like toys. Intuitive, comprehensible and sounding as fantastic as the original (yes, I had one) this is one app you'll never regret buying. Get it while it's hot. It's the best out there..Version: 0

Needs Import/export presets & Ableton Link.Given that we can save our own presets on our iPads, it seems odd to have no way to share these with each other, or to backup these presets individually onto our desktop computers when syncing via iTunes. Need to be able to share projects too. This was possible before. Ableton link is essential too! Please add this functionality. Great app!.Version: 1.7.1

This is incredibleThis app is amazing, seriously korg, if you continue this way with those great apps I will need a korg branded iPad..Version: 0

SplendidA splendid reproduction, and delightful to tinkle with..Version: 1.7.0

RetrotasticBeautifully designed with some nice attention to detail (a nice zoom mode). Sounds are authentic and if you've ever been near an original MS20 then you'll be so impressed with this. I'm hoping that a lot of these become 'midiable' once 4.2 software comes out - let's hope so. I look forward to Moog doing something like this with the Voyager (well I can always hope ;-) ) Worth every penny.Version: 0

Amazing synth a MUST buy! There’s nothing quite like it on the app store. Incredible depth of sounds, sequencer and even analogue drums! Get this synth!.Version: 1.7.3

Brilliant!!!I was cynical about this, at first... thinking there would be little more to it than gimmicky virtual patch chords, a la Reason, a bit of faffing about with knobs, and a whimpy sound. I was so wrong, this is very deep and incredibly flexible, mostly due to the addition of the sequencer. Absolutely not for the novice synthesist... but for those experienced, it can be very, very rewarding... and the sound quality? Superb! My only criticism, if I had to find one, is that editing "drum" sounds (which don't necessarily need to be drum sounds at all btw) outside of the sequencer gives you a false impression of their sound due to the additional sound modifiers (pitch, gate etc.) within the sequencer itself, modifiers which aren't applied when in edit mode. This is irritating, and means you have to kind of guess what your changes will sound like when you leave edit mode and go back to the sequencer. If there was a way to edit sounds in the context of the sequencer, and not in isolation, but also in the context of "the mix" then this would be a perfect, and amazing app... but honestly, I'm not sure I can think of a way to implement this anyway, unless there was simply a button to activate or deactivate this kind of edit "mode"..Version: 0

All the tone of the original, with iOS functionalityWhen I first decided to embrace electronic music as my main career path a year ago, iMS-20 was the first iOS-based synth I purchased. To say it has become a vital part of my band's sound is an understatement. If you're buying this app, you're probably familiar with the original hardware MS-20, or at least the recent mini reissue (which is also fantastic) but you want to integrate it into an iOS recording/performance setup. Every knob, switch and socket from the original is here and functionally identical, but there are also some new additions that may come as a pleasant surprise. I haven't experimented with the sequencer yet, but if I fancy having a stab at Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" or Muse's "Bliss", its WYSIWYG interface will make programming sequences a breeze. WhatI HAVE made rude use of, however, are the excellent effects (the reverbs are fantastic) and the ability to save presets (can you imagine patching the "modular" section on the fly?), which is a godsend in a live situation. It's a little pricey, but it's worth every penny..Version: 1.6.4

Brilliant showcase appI’d love to own one of these synths to play around with, but cannot justify the cost, nor the space. But [as a dabbler] why would you need to when you have superb, detailed and authentic reproduction in software such as this!? This software is a showcase app for the iPad and everyone should have it available to wow friends and family. Sure, it’s not cheap, but it is incredible bang for the buck, and quality through and through, as you would expect from Korg. It was one of the first apps I bought when I got my first iPad and is even better on the new iPad Pro. I have had endless fun playing around with it over the past few years and yet have barely scratched the surface of its capabilities, which are formidable. I feel like Rick Wakeman; I only wish that I could make this “sing” like he can. Korg have made available some beautifully crafted apps for the iPad. Do not hesitate to buy any of them; it will be money well spent whether your a musician or otherwise. Well done, and thank you, Korg!!.Version: 1.6.6

Wot no midi syncGreat app but no ableton link facility..Version: 1.7.6

Dreams do really come true!Best thing so far this Christmas? Korg updates iMS20 to support core midi input via the camera connector kit! Without doubt the best ipad soft synth out there at the moment! A true recreation of the Korg MS20 mono dual osc synthesiser plus a multichannel drum synth based on several MS20 synths (all editable) and an authentic korg retro sequencer.... and now the icing on the Christmas cake, plug a midi keyboard and sequencer into it via the camera connector and control the lot! This is simply heaven, get it now before the price goes up next year! Update - the new version adds improvements to midi syncing and copy/paste, once again an amazing synth app that truly deserves an ipad to itself! I am longing to see a midi multitimbral version if possible, imagine being able to control 8 MS-20's from my Logic Sequencer......Version: 1.5.0

KORK iMS-20 v KORG DS-10This is a great tool for music with not many limits, still like the DS but it's difficult live!.Version: 1.6.6

To good to be an app.Initially purchased for drum loop creation. It is taking me on a full musical journey... so much to learn in the world of synth sound quality is amazing.. a real tool for expressing ideas once you learn how to use it... and so much fun love it..Version: 1.7.1

Korgtastic! An astounding piece of well written software, the iMS-20 is up there with the best music applications available for the iPad. The integration of a fully featured drum machine, analogue sequencer and 2 assignable kaos pad type controllers as well as the MS20 synthesiser is superb. The possibilities afforded by the patch cable modulation routings in itself make for a wonderful experimental analogue-type experience. A mixer with two effects buses includes valve simulation, reverbs, delays, filters and other distortion types. An included pattern pad sequencer is also a most welcome audio tool in the box. I have just recently downloaded this monster app but already can appreciate the time and effort that Korg have made to bring this virtual analogue studio to the iPad. Once your creation has been realised you can even upload it to Soundcloud to share with others. I give this an unequivocal 5 stars and my only wish would be to have some wireless midi connection to my sequencer so that I could fully incorporate it in my studio set-up. Who knows this may be possible in a future release ? Buy it - you won't be disappointed..Version: 0

SuggestionsAwesome sounds. I have a couple of requests, though. Can you make it polyphonic? I know the original is not, but it would make chords possible. Also, can you use the input from a guitar ( eg via iRig)?.Version: 1.2.0

Working again in iOS 8A bit late to the party, but it's good to have this working again..Version: 1.6.4

IncredibleWow. What a great app. The synth alone is great, but really comes to life using the sequencer. For non-purists the Kaoss-effects are fun to play with, but honestly, the reason to buy this is the MS-20. If you like tweaking your synth, and know a little about synthesis, this is for you. Incredibly done, thanks, Korg!.Version: 0

The best ... its simple.Yep.Version: 1.7.3

Faithful to the original hardwareThis app undoubtedly captures the pure essence of the legendary MS-20! I've used Korg products for many years and I know their sound very well. This is the most practical way to get "that" sound in an affordable and user friendly way ... period. An amazing tool - so much fun too!!.Version: 1.6.6

Love this more than the hardware versionFantastic fun. I write whole tracks, using the iMS20 alone. It is old school and a challenge to get your head around, but worth it for the gorgeous sounds and music it can produce..Version: 1.6.6

Very good...I love this app, I use it every day to mess around with ideas and also just because its more fun than angry birds.... But I have to say there's a real issue with it's usefulness in a live setting (where it would be an excellent tool) solely due to the tempo setting, it's almost impossible to set it to the tempo you want it to run at, the dial is fiddly and moves when you remove your finger so even if you do manage to get it to the correct tempo chances are that will change when you take your finger off the screen, a simple tap tempo pad would make this app a very good reason to go buy an iPad. Other than this one (quite substantial) issue I love it.... The sounds, sound manipulation, kaos pads, everything else is excellent..Version: 1.5.1

It works!!My usb keyboard didnt work at first make sure no other apps use your keyboard in the background or reboot your device!!!!.Version: 1.6.3

Pricey but worth itHard to use till u get the hang of it. Not as hard as fl studio mobile witch is like half the price but this I can do so much more still getting use to this but I want to change and advance in making electro and this will do it for when I'm on the go..Version: 1.5.1

MIDI is working, nice reproduction of the MS-20I trigger the iMS-20 from an M-Audio Oxygen 8 v2 via the Camera Connection Kit, through a powered USB hub. This app is also behaving fairly well with AUM. I have sweet spot for all things MS-20 since I grew up with one..Version: 1.6.6

Love it but..Korg oh korg my favourite synth company PLEASE implement midi note out so I can move these ideas into other programs to refine or use with other synths!.Version: 1.6.4

Solid soundThe app is starting to show its age, unfortunately, but there are tons of awesome sounds on board and it's an excellent introduction to semi-modulars. I was AMAZED how well it handles feedback patches (plug "headphone out" into the signal processor, crank the gain and run it back to "ext in"). I still come back to this often..Version: 1.6.6

KORG Does it again and again...When I found out that KORG had brought out another app I may have waited one tenth of a millisecond to decide to get it... Sorry KORG... If you thought that iElectribe was good wait until you get into this app. Sounds fantastic So complex Love that you can piggy back some jacks. I also have the KORG DS10 and together you can mix some Very interesting sounds. I just need another iPad so I can run iElectribe just for fun! Any chance of MIDI for the iMS-20? Can think of so many reasons why you should. I use it on other synth apps and really lifts the experience to a whole new level..Version: 0

11 inch iPad screen supportGreat synth, works in Gadget. Just wish it filled my 11 inch iPad screen in standalone mode..Version: 1.7.3

RockingAwesome sounds. Takes me back to my early synth days / daze. Top stuff..Version: 1.5.1

Not for the faint hearted !Make no mistake, this is a brilliant app for the iPad and Korg should be commended for their efforts. However, this is not a musical app for the beginner ! This is a serious piece of software for the fans of traditional analogue synthesizers !! Don't be fooled into buying this app by listening to the demos and thinking that you will be generating compositions within a few hours of using the app. To get the best out of this app you really need to be into your 'old-fashioned' synths and you will need to spend lots and lots and lots(!) of time getting used to simply generating the right sounds for your patterns. If you are prepared to do this then the rewards will eventually come. If you are looking for instant gratification I would go for the 'ReBirth' app or for a little more depth 'NanoStudio'. Overall this is one serious piece of software and as such may be a little too daunting for the newcomer to music creation. But for the serious music makers or hobbyist musicians this is an absolute steal at the price. Keep up the good work Korg..Version: 1.0.0

Fun app......but pretty pricy if you're not a Korg synth geek. I feel like a bit of a doofus for paying full price about 10 days ago. Should've been smart enough to wait for the (I suspect) "response to GB" sale. Damned impulse buy!.Version: 1.2.0

With these apps, you are really spoiling usI used to own the real MS20 (and MS10 and SQ10) and this app very much takes the place of my old MS20 and SQ10 (especially considering the real SQ10 is only 12 steps, this one is 16!). It is apps such as this that makes the habitual hunt for modern analogue hardware little more than a futile residual habit — what's the point in real physical synths that take up room and need dusting, when there's this?.Version: 1.6.6

I think im in loveLiked it so much i end up getting the real thing, hoping for a polysix remake now ! And some new app.Version: 1.6.2

GoodThis may be great for those that have a need for nostalgia. The interface is too cluttered for any sized Ipad. What this synth needs is a 21st century kick, especially in the sequencer section. This probably good if you are a sound designer looking for that next synth sound that everyone will try to copy. I just think its a little ridiculous to try to implement something like this on an iPad. There should be an option for better workflow views vs. a virtual synth look. I don't want to spend time trying to figure out ancient tech on a 21 century ipad. What this does accomplish: emulation. Just be prepared to spend some time learning the machine. In short: Great sounding synth in need of a 21st Century sequencer..Version: 1.6.1

Great app... HoweverOk so this app is fantastic, great sound quality, awesome versatility on the synth and love how the whole thing fits together. However, what would put it a cut above the rest is to in some way work in triplets and quintuplets directly into the sequencers of both the synth and drum machine (perhaps some sort of dragable patch that you can size to fit over any number of the current 16 slots and select the number of notes that you wish to divide them into). This is probably possible already using the synth controls however it is difficult and limiting to do so. If this was achieved it would allow for relatively easy to create cross rhythms and blow the other apps out of the water. Other than that other things would be; an easier way to change time signature and a way to do this within one piece/project, and perhaps a way (or ways) to morph from one section/block of music to another (perhaps some sort of cross fade) as currently your number of available blocks get used up to create transitions that may only be used once. I have no idea whether or not these things are possible but if even one of them could be achieved then it would add to an already fantastic app and push it towards being far more malleable and versatile. Something which I believe the iPad is all about. All that said, this really is a fantastic app. Kris.Version: 1.5.2

Fantastic, especially in GadgetI adore this app, both stand alone and in Gadget, highly recommend. I just wish the song mode in standalone allowed more than one synth part, and also AUv3 support so I can use it in Cubasis and other apps..Version: 1.7.3

I love this app but...I’ve owned it since it first came out and I love the sound but it just isn’t usable in the modern iOS music making environment. No midi sync, no inter app audi, no AU3 — so it sits on my iPad, loved but unused. For an app with a retail price of thirty quid, that’s not acceptable in this day and age. Come on, Korg. Sort it out. Five stars if you bring it up to a modern standard. And shouldn’t it work with Gadget too? Edit: We asked, you listened. Five stars. I love you guys at Korg. So much so that when the Minilogue XD ships later this month, Ima be first in the queue..Version: 1.7.0

Im a teenager in my bedroom again....Let me start out by saying I am biased. I owned the Korg MS20 and SQ10 as a teenager. They were my introduction into music synthesis some 30 years ago. There was something about hardware back then that made you want to experiment, to see what was possible. That facility was come and gone on both hardware and software platforms over the years. But I am glad to say its back baby! The iMS20 is all that the MS20/SQ10 were with all the right bells and whistles added. The basic fun of sound making is there - you can twiddle knobs to your hearts content but now automate it, add some useful effects and actually create a song. Be prepared to invest some worthwhile time, finding your way around the screens and understanding the principles - you will be rewarded. I even managed to create a nice loop on a plane recently. I agree the sounds are "old school" and every bit as primitive and grungy/dirty as I remember. The Korg filters do have a character of their own and make the sound what it is. This is an exceptional piece of software on an exceptional piece of hardware. I marvel at the direction that music is taking at present and, even though I have never, I want to get up on stage with this and play. I have even started recording the iMS20 straight into Logic and carrying on the recording process from there. For the price, it phenomenal, in use its exceptional and in terms of sparking creativity, it nothing short of inspirational. Larry.Version: 1.5.1

Best music app everWhen I saw this app the other day I was deciding wether to get it or not because I only had $22 dollars on my account but after I saw this apps RRP was $32 I had to get it or I never would of. So after a few hours playing around with it I was making so nice little beats this app is so worth the money get it now or risk the price of $32 but even that price is ok for something so incredible. I recommend this app to anyone who wants to make some of the best sounds and spend hours on just one app..Version: 1.1.0

Very coolSimple, intuitive, powerful and FUN!!! Thankyou Korg for taking the iPad seriously as a music creation tool!.Version: 1.0.0

Could be brilliant, not there yet.Great fun, great sounds, could be the best music app but needs copy and paste for the patterns. Portamento for the drum machine synth would be nice, as well as effects on the kaoss pad for the drum synths. Adding Midi clock sync would also greatly improve this app, as well as the ielectribe app..Version: 1.1.0

Sooo much cooler than all the other synths!!Okay, look. I'm an idiot when it comes to synths, and by looking at the pictures, you'd think this app would be really difficult to understand, but IT'S NOT! I was making my own song within 8 minutes and tinkered with it the rest of the night. and now, I'm even beginning to understand what all those nobs and buttons do! there's only one thing keeping this app back and that is lack of Audio Copy/Paste. in fact, it is kind of a hassle to get your tunes or patterns out of the app and on to your system. you have to use Sound Cloud. why not implement Sonoma Audio Copy/Paste? that way this app can play friendly with my other apps (Studio Track, Multitrack DAW, etc.). anyway, THANK YOU KORG!!!.Version: 0

IOS 8This apps worked find ,link most of Korg apps, until I installed iOS 8. It seems the program jumps out when asked to open. Anybody experiencing the same issue.thanks to help. I tried shutting down the ipad, reloading the software, nothing works for now..Version: 1.6.3

The sounds are off the chain.I'm probably 6 months from being the next daft punk/Calvin Harris with the sounds lol. Just need to learn how to program the drums and find my way around the sequencer. But for the price of this at the moment is a bargain considering the calibre of artist who use the original synth. Update; Feb edition of Computer Music magazine (CM161) has a great step my step tutorial. For programming drums and synth. Helped me program my first beat on it..Version: 1.1.0

It's what the iPad needsI must admit I have been waiting fit this app since the iPad first came out. It was crying out for it. I used to own the Native Instruments MS20 emulator and also actually had an MS10 when they first came out in the early 80's. Wonderfully made and so much fun, even if you're not that into music making. Just wish I still could get the some of the original patch setting that were in the instruction manual for the MS10. Some great sounds there..Version: 0

Great appI purchased this to make music like fl studio I have to say, this is tons better than FL Studio You have much better controls It is also really engaging and a great app.Version: 1.5.2

Great appThis is a great musical instrument app. It takes a while to get your head around the controls, but once you have done so you have a great sounding and fun machine. For me the Kaoss pads are what makes is so cool and fun to use. Before you know it your dreams of playing grooving acid tunes on the beaches of Goa will be fulfilled, well at least in your head!.Version: 1.5.2

Always The BestThis is a one of a kind treasure. I bought this 5-6 yrs ago and I'm still finding ways to build new awesome synth presets. I may never be able to afford an original tactile analog synth, but this is great compensation. I haven't seen anything like it in the App Store since. There are other VSTs out there, but this one gives the biggest bang for the buck. It has: MIDI a drum sequencer (5 drum voices) a mixer 16 song pads to mix in song mode it has dual oscillators it has patches envelop filters 2 Assignable KORG KAOOS touch pads.Version: 1.6.6

Amazing analog-like sounds!Love this app with a passion. If only it had a sequencer, even a basic one, this would hands down be my go-to synth app. Please consider adding this! : ) The built-in recorder is helpful, but it's very limiting to only be able to record a single track with no quantization. The only way I can use this synth in the context of a multi-track song is to record it live as an audio track into some other PC software, or by recording a single track within the app and importing that track into some other sofware like Ableton Live 8 that allows me to combine it with other sounds and tracks. Limitations can help spur creativity, but in this case it's just too limited in my opinion. Would love to see this app have just a basic sequencer that allows a few tracks to be layered with recorded automation of certain paramaters, like filters. I realize that this is an emulation of a classic synth that didn't have these kinds of features, but I just so badly want to be able to use it within the context of a more modern production style. I'm not a software genius, so maybe I'm overlooking some feature or technique that would help with that I'm trying to do, but I don't think so : / Most of my review is a complaint, but then again praise for it can be found in many other reviews here, and this app deserves all of that praise and more!!.Version: 1.5.1

Analog funLots of features, sound great, hands on experiences. Cool app..Version: 0

Fully Rad !!!Top class app from korg, i have hooked it up with my electribe emx - wow lovin it - sound cloud is fantastic always inspiration. Does anyone know the best way to pick this up, its pretty complex ? Its like back to the future ! Mad synth !.Version: 0

I love this appI've been producing music since I had to trigger everything from my Atari. This app is awesome. I can put together deep complex loops wherever I am and whenever I have spare time. Can't praise it enough..Version: 1.6.6

No.1 AppMy most loved ipad app. Hands down..Version: 1.5.0

Amazing! It is a great app for making music even for beginners or people who have never even used a synthesizer..Version: 1.5.0

Unbelievably awesomeSometimes an app comes along that basically makes you want to buy a whole new ipad just to dedicate to the program. THIS is one of those apps. Seriously if you haven't bought this app there is something wrong with you :).Version: 0

Tricky one...So, the Korg iMS-20. It's £20, which puts it into "elite" app territory. Is it worth it? The answer is yes, with a but. It is an extremely powerful music-creation engine, with a drum machine, mixer, fully configurable synth AND a sampler. Here is the but: it is not easy to use. Especially for a beginner. I wouldn't recommend this app if you have no experience of synthesisers or samplers, there are plenty of other synths for 1/4 of the price that are easier to use. But if you have the patience, or the experience, then there is nothing better on the whole app store. It really is staggering, what Korg managed to fit into this app. If you're like me, and love tinkering with dials and mucking around with settings, then you can lose DAYS playing with this app, not just hours. So yes, it comes with my heartfelt recommendation, but only if you're willing to put the work in. Don't come back and review saying how hard it is to use: you've been warned!.Version: 1.5.1

Korg Has Done It The BestHigh price for an app but definitely a steal. Can I just say one word. MIDI! Put your iPad in an Alesis IOdock and connect a midi device. For example: MAudio keyboard etc. I am surprised they haven’t raised the price on this. The best time to catch it is during the holidays when apps normally go on sale. And thank you so much Korg for the continual updates..Version: 1.7.3

Great App!!!I own a lot of Korg gear hardware and apps.Version: 1.6.6

Absolutely AwesomeWorth every penny and then some!.Version: 0

YUS!Amazing..Version: 1.6.4

FantasticA fun crazy music makin' party machine Lots of tweaking fun! My only wish is for a longer sequencer for the synth part.Version: 1.5.2

Impressive... but maybe a little too realistic... (#^.^#)エ have to admit that エ found this particular addition to the 'Korg' collection to be the hardest to wrap my head around. エt was along time ago when エ first tried to figure this App out and I'm STILL finding out new things to this day. エ find that this App is more of a 'simulator' than a practical 'music-creating-easy-to-use-app'. 丅his isn't a bad thing by any means, and エ still enjoy trying to see what エ can do with this cool synth. So, if you're looking for a mini-studio style app to create music, or something to quickly get down ideas then this isn't the App for the job... my personal opinion ofcourse! But, if you want a cool, complex, highly detailed, synth – simulator, then this is definitely the way to go. ᏢEace✌︎..Version: 1.6.4

Addition of MIDI device support makes this a killer appI initially thought this app was nothing more than a toy--albeit, a really great sounding one--but the latest 1.1 update to support CoreMIDI changes everything. The app connected flawlessly with an Akai LPK-25. I can now use it live. With dual Kaoss pads on-screen. Simply amazing. Five stars!.Version: 1.1.0

Exceptional! no brainer. There is just so much you can do with this MS20 s/w. It sounds good enough to use seriously, from percussion to synth it just rasp character. I was a fan of the Korg legacy collection and Korgs S/W fx are very usable. If you invest some time it is analogue interface heaven. Guise! you don't have to use the semi modular looking bit if you don't want to! I remember the Korg legacy came with the original H/W manual and I was like, no thanks :( and yes a bit more support for the novice could be welcomed, but if you are not lazy and have at least average intelligence you will be fine, common sense gets me through most things like this…just thing logically how things would work in hardware and you will be good. Obviously it suggests the sound of an MS20 but doesn't get real bc it is digital, but really it sounds good enough to use in a mix and people wouldn't of imagined this years ago. We really do take for granted what these guise come up with. Well implemented , well thought out, reasonably intuitive. If you're into synths and know your way around an oldskool sequencer, it is a no brainer. I would buy an iPad just to use this one bit of software, that is how much I'm enjoying it. A huge thank you Korg, you did it well and did it right!.Version: 1.5.2

Retro groovebox heavenGreat raw sounds and huge flexibility from this classic synth. The built in sequencer forces you into places you wouldn’t normally go but the unexpected results are a plus. Bundled with a drum machine too (basically another 6 MS-20s) and some FXs make this a powerful workstation. Only downer is it’s lack of connectivity, the main synth and drum machine ported to AUv3 and the sequencer as a midiAU would be synth heaven. And the tempo knob, for the sake of sanity let us type in a tempo, with the knob it’s impossible to set an accurate tempo..Version: 1.7.3

Top shelf sounds....Death of tone and harmonics that this can create is incredible. The only thing I wish it had was the capability of using Tabletop. One of my top apps..Version: 1.6.6

I've had iMS 20 for years, and I still think it's one of the best.I'm not going to repeat all the rave reviews. Read them—it's all true. One downside: For those new to synths, iMS 20 will most likely be a challenge..Version: 1.6.6

Awesome synth AND music appIf there's a fault with this app I've yet to find it. Superb emulation of classic synth (I bought the hardware version because of it), sequencer, drum machine, mixer, effects - actually a mini-studio. Unlike some apps, it has been (so far) well-supported thru OS changes, etc. Runs like clockwork on my iPad 4 - I wish everything else was this reliable! An emphatic two thumbs-up..Version: 1.6.4

KORG keeps it comingI recently sold my hardware Electribes (EA1, ER1, and ES1) just so I could afford to buy an iPad and get the iElectribe software. It offered me more mobile flexability and the power of a softsynth with the touch of hardware. This release the the MS-20 is heaven sent. It solidified my feeling that I made the right choice. After actually buying it and trying it OH MY GOD this thing ROCKS. I personally use the electribe and now this and after creating patterns I export those and build my tracks on my DAW on my desktop. I own most of the major music apps for iPad and iphone and these 2 are Top 5 and for me made the iPad purchase worth it..Version: 0

Great Sounding, but needs modern features. . .First off, this is a fantastic sounding model of the MS-20. It is very well implemented and does what it does well. The sequencer is a little cumbersome, in an old school analog way, but very functional for what it does. My only gripes are that Korg needs to add standard features for modern iOS synths. These features include: Audiobus support, background audio, and virtual MIDI. If these were added, this app would be 5 star and I could recommend it without hesitation. As it is, it's a good app if you don't mind making music in Korg's walled garden. UPDATE: THANK YOU KORG FOR LISTENING! Now with background audio and Audiobus, this is one of the best synths for iOS! FIVE STARS!!.Version: 1.6.0

It's a MONSTER!As an owner of several analog hardware synths, I was beginning to doubt if anyone could really make something that satisfied my somewhat refined (picky) demands for the sound of emulated analog synthesis on the iPad. Not trusting that Korg would do the original justice, I hesitated on the hefty price for a long time and waited for a sale. I should have jumped on it sooner. The sounds are inspiring and rich. I haven't yet explored all the features but, even if I just use this to play tracks straight into a DAW, I am happy because it sounds fantastic. Now If a Wavestation app comes out, I will buy it without hesitation confident that Korg will treat their wave sequencing synthesis with the same respect..Version: 1.5.2

GreatWow. This app will be keeping me very entertained. I'm using this as a complete newbie and have managed to make some sounds and have had some success exploring the multitude of settings. Very steep learning curve, but that's part of the fun I guess. You experiment and see if you can make something cool..Version: 1.5.1

UnmatchedCourt is obviously the world leader and synth. The app is brilliantly designed and works seamlessly with the MS 20 controller that came out in the early 2000's. I love the sound, the patchbay, the drums, the sequencer triggering. It is absolutely brilliant..Version: 1.6.6

'Tis a monster and no mistake.I had some real struggles with this at first, but after configuring the settings to behave more how I'd expect, this monster is a pleasure to use. It's not the easiest or snappiest to get along with and seems like it puts up a bit of a fight, but if you can tame this beast, it's a worthy addition to your iPad arsenal. It's best to remember that this is primarily a synthesiser, if you have had no experience with beasts like this before, it will laugh at you constantly. It takes time to learn how to communicate with it, but when you do the rewards shall present themselves and the sense of achievement is far greater than any game. The sound quality is phenomenal, the sound scope equally so. I have made the odd couple of sounds and a few tunes out of this, but I know I haven't even scratched the surface. There's a real depth here and a lot of room for serious experimentation. If your up to the challenge, grab the iMS by the horns and get your groove on!.Version: 1.5.1

Fantastic!!!The best music creation app I've used on the Ipad. The only real improvement would be the ability to create more patterns. Please make pattern banks in next update. A, B, C & D. Thanks in advance..Version: 1.2.0

Pricey but brilliant! Finally got around to raking out 35 bucks for this app, and I am very happy with it. Midi works very well, which is very important since touch screen keyboards will only ever let you do so much. Can't wait to fully understand the ins and outs of this app. Hopefully KORG won't take to long to update it for the retina display on the 3rd gen iPad! That would make all the little bits of writing on the front of the synth look much clearer and easier to read/control. Nice work!.Version: 1.5.2

Amazing...This is just a superb app. It both sounds and looks great. It's complex for a non expert like me, but definitely learnable, and super fun to muck with ;) Buy it..Version: 1.6.3

Simply unbelievable !!!I downloaded this based on my very good experience with the iElectribe. I'm not familiar with this synth in it's original form, so I truly can't comment on authenticity - but after simply fiddling with it for a short while I can say is is very impressive. Incredibly complex - yes. Fun to play with - yes. Sounds good - yes. Practical - who cares. Certainly worth the intro price - I probably would have waited for others to comment if it had been full price. Kev.Version: 0

FlooredWhat can i say. this app completely changed the way i thought about the ipad and its role in electronic music production. Yep i wont be selling my analog synths anytime soon but. You want a a guerilla electronic music busking device and this flat out is amazing. This app a boombox or portable pa and just drop it any place and drop jaws. You get a extremely good representation of the classic korg ms 20. twin chaos pads that can be used in tandem to trigger notes or arp patterns. a analog modelling drum machine . i mean capable sequencer the list goes on and on. When i first booted this up i was not expecting much but within a few minutes i was left scratching my head. How did we get to the point where these is so many possibilities in a tiny unit that takes up almost no real estate in your studio. I have only scratched the surface of this app due to time constraints but it is truly a break through for artists on a budget who own a ipad. I mean yeah ok its not a bang on representation of the spikey filtered classic korg but its pretty darn close. We must also remind ourselves back in the day we would have had to spent as much as a good used corvette to own the real versions of this. I also felt this app was the first app i used where i did not feel like i was playing a video game to make music. it is a excellent tool for beginners to learn the basic concepts of subtractive synthesis with. it is also a amazing device for a well versed electronic musician to slip in their backpack or take in a aircraft carry on to work on music with. with the addition of midi being possible this is also a totally usable musical instrument for stage studio or what ever you imagination wants from it. amazing..Version: 1.1.0

Great synth but 1 star for no sync ability[Edit] Good to hear from Korg that at last their apps are getting the ability to work with sync. The ARP and this one are actually great synths but feel desperately unfinished as they stand. I’ve upped my review to 4 stars, will possibly add another when updated! *********** [original] No IAA beat clock? No Link? Or even no midi clock? For this price? After all this time? I was under the impression Korg were a professional synth manufacturer..Version: 1.6.6

Stunning jobBeen messing with studios for years. Technology always pleases the gear heads. Loved the electribe, but this is truly sensational. The Kaos pad built in with everything else makes it an instrument anyone can have some serious fun with from the off. If this is a taste of what is to come on the iPad for soft synths, it makes the I pad a must for any home based music studio..Version: 0

The more I use it, the more I fall in loveSeriously, this is daunting as all hell in the beginning. But as you use it, and start to figure it out it gets better and better… and better. Truly Fantastic..Version: 1.5.2

Real FunWell i Need to say, really nice tool to make incredible music. With fun factor too, so be fast and buy it ;-)))).Version: 0

Make the gadget version work on the iphone!Hey Korg, I bought this for my iPad to use in gadget. Let us use the gadget version on the iphone Edit- I just tried your ‘ remote install ‘ suggestion and it worked flawlessly, I’m impressed Korg! Thanks..Version: 1.7.0

Incredible!.... If daunting! Thats not a criticism I'm just overwhelmed by amount of twiddlers and i wonder if i'll ever suss it all out. I used to have a real korg polysix and now have the app aswell of course. I never owned an original ms20 but from what i gather its a faithful recreation on all levels, the ipolysix certainly is. Makes it worth having an iPad just for these apps. And Audiobus enabled me to record a bit with these apps to DAW, core-midi to irig midi to my old keyboard for a change. Good enough for me. Im wondering if its out of order to request to have a polyphonic option on ims20?.Version: 1.6.2

Truly SuperbThere are so many great music apps for iOS, yet this one still managed to stand out as thoroughly impressive. A real step forward in what's possible & accessible on the iPad. I really recommend it. I have one criticism - like Korg's iElectribe they've really not made much of an effort with the manual. That's a shame. Given how much thought & effort they've put into the app itself is, you'd think they'd want every last part of it to shine as brightly. Nevertheless, a lame manual can't stop this being a 5-star app. Brilliant stuff, and frankly, a bargain..Version: 1.0.0

The bomb!!!!The bomb!!!!!.Version: 1.6.2

Absolutely wonderful.I love generating sounds with this thing. When I get the controller I expect it will take things and work pace to another level, so I will review it properly then. As it stands, it is 5 star app that anyone serious about making music should buy. Please make it compatible with gadget 😬.Version: 1.6.6

Incredible! The depth of that app/synth is simply incredible. Only talent and available time can be the limiting factors here. A must have. Thanks for that great app..Version: 0

OutstandingI own a KORG Triton Extreme so I really don't need this. However, I remember the old days of analog synthesis. This app is much better. KORG is known for making great music production tools that are straight forward and intuitive, this app is no exception. I have one huge request. In a future update PLEASE make this a polyphonic synth. Most other apps of this type are poly. I know you tried to stick to the original format but this is 2010 not 1975. Give the user the choice to switch to poly mode. One additional request, PLEASE make this app Line 6 MIDI Mobilizer compatible AND USB audio compatible with the USB camera connection kit so that it plays well with others. After that.....an absolute stellar 5 STARS!.Version: 0

Fun, but...It's pretty awesome! However, there appears to be no support for the Line 6 MIDI Mobilizer, which is rather less bulky to use than a USB camera kit connector and MIDI interface. I'm surprised the support is lacking as i'd expect it to appear as the same thing, but I'm sure many people would appreciate support for this direct MIDI interface - particularly if they're using a larger MIDI setup. With these Korg softsynths, I'm hoping a Wavestation appears next!.Version: 1.1.0

This app is the bomb! This app was my introduction to the world of synths, sequencers and drum machines. It's spare, retro minimalist visual interface is starkly beautiful and amazingly functional. The tone is rich and gorgeous. The built-in effects sound fantastic and allow to create some incredible soundscapes. I will say that learning to control the power of this app takes time… but iMS-20 will reward you for your efforts. After almost 3 years of continual use, I am still discovering new techniques. I have learned so much from using this app and the music I've been able to create is beyond what I though I could do. I highly recommend the iMS-20 by KORG!.Version: 1.6.3

Loving itIt sounds great, and you can have a blast messing around. I do wish it could be used as a plug in. They should also find a way to incorporate it into Korg Gadget..Version: 1.6.6

BrilliantThis has got to be one of the most amazing apps I have come across and at a tenner it is an absolute steal. This is not a toy, I have been playing synths for 20yrs so the learning curve was not bad but for somebody new to this sort of thing it may prove challenging, got it linked up with USB to my korg M3 in no time, made me look at all my other synths and wondered if there days were numbered :).Version: 1.5.2

Perfect emulation. If you're a pauper like me and can't afford the real thing, think how lucky you are that you now don't have to. Can't beat being poor. This is seriously good at what if does. Could do with a wider range of sound and more presets, even though you can mangle the bejeezeus out of whatever voice you load. Looks complicated but it's really not..Version: 1.6.6

Sounds wicked. The drum machine in particular is spectacular..Version: 1.5.2

A brilliant replica of an absolute classicI've logged a couple of hundred hours playing the original MS20 so I'm pretty confident when I say that this is the real deal. Lest start with the oscillators - they are spot on! The sawtooth wave has the same characteristic nasal top end of the original and the XOR ring modulator is brilliantly emulated. The filters are just as wild and unruly as the original too, so expect plenty of growl. The Envelopes are snappy and responsive, so you can get those characteristic thunky bass and kick sounds, and the variable shape LFOs are perfect for rhythmic pads and bass lines. The patch bay is the key to getting the most out of this synth. It's not the easiest routing system in the world, but it is definitely worth taking the time to get to know how it works. Anything can be a trigger, sound source or modulator, and there are plenty of destinations to choose from. Well done Korg, you've created a belter of an app here..Version: 1.6.3

Ouch!...Korg deliver another great app!I can see that this app will sell just as well if not better than the iElectribe. The sounds are brilliant and the possibilities are endless....I will certainly have lots of fun with all the patching options! Maybe not for the faint-hearted, although the sample templates provide a good starting point for newbies as well as producing some decent sounds too. While the developers will take some flack for reproducing old hardware and/or existing virtual synth which has been around for a while, I still think this is a very worthwhile purchase for music makers on the iPad. Other apps can push the touch interface boundaries further, but you know exactly what you're getting here...a faithful recreation. I'm wondering what's next....maybe a KaossPad app?!.Version: 0
