KORG ELECTRIBE Wave for Positive User Reviews

Thank you for listening to the users. Can you please add full dropbox import/export support. thank you..Version: 2.0.1

Superb Machine!!!This is all that any ‘groovebox style’ lover, into electronic music (and more) owning an iPad could possible want to really easy, quick and highly enjoyable way create music, experiment and even learn. High definition sound and compact UI, now we have a proper box device with everything in front of us and one finger away with no need for erratic panel scrollings or confusing multi screens that could get hard to reach straight away during performances. I will come here again to give it my 5 Star when one of the following is implemented: .Undo Botton + Mixer Unmute All (there’s space on top) Or (the least likely, but anyway here goes the idea) .Midi Out from the sequencer at least in one of the channel as many could use our favorite real synth not only as a controller but an actual part of the mix, without needing more apps or devices, to close that circle. Who knows... Anyway already beautiful the way it is!.Version: 1.0.2

So Much JoyThis is the most joy I’ve ever had, aside from with a girlfriend. I prefer making drum parts on here now to ableton drum rack. Holy cannoli tho it’s just so cool, so freaking fun. Thank you KORG.Version: 3.0.1

A lot of fun!I’m running EW with GR16 at the moment and it’s a lot of fun! I’d like to see a few things in future updates. User samples! Let us add our own samples! I have the hardware Electribe synth version and this is a lot like it but please let us add samples! Samples with automated start/stop points, re-sample, ect. I’d also like to see preset packs to load when you add the sample functions 😁 more money for you if we buy sample packs!.Version: 1.1.0

Will be great with a few improvementsReally amazing music production app. Would love an undo button and the ability to export MIDI to ableton..Version: 2.0.1

Still a great appFor some reason I produce more music I like in this than in any other app. Synth sounds great. All I hope is that Korg keep updating it so it keeps running on future iOS versions. Please, Korg!.Version: 3.0.4

Wooooohoooopo!!!!!!!! Auv3 support!!!!!!!Yeeeessssssss!!!!!!!!! This is MAJOR!!!!!!! Thank you and great job Korg!!!! Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping we’ll be seeing more audio units coming, but this is a great start!!!!!!!.Version: 3.0.0

Nice job KorgOverall an outstanding new addition to the Electribe series. The only requests I would make are to allow importing more drum kits or user samples, and possibly user wavetables. Maybe some kind of additional integration with Gadget, but overall really fun and impressive. :).Version: 1.0.1

I love this app A+++I also own an Electribe EA-1, manual transfers between the two are super simple. This is great because I can write music anywhere, and and then come home and use my physical synths with perfect results. The sound engine is great, and sounds really good through studio monitors. The Mixer and multi track sequencer is beautiful, and versatile enough to make quality masters..Version: 3.0.4

I have to pay again to download to iPad?I have all your apps and I am a big Korg fan but why do I have to pay twice?.Version: 2.0.1

Fun and PowerfulThis is excellent and fully on a par with what the Electribe hardware units can do, musically. It’s fast, parameters are right in front of you with minimal menu-diving. The workflow is great, it gets you making decisions and pushing forward, though some may find editing patterns more fiddly than they would like, especially if you are used to midi editing in Gadget or something. I would update this to 5 stars if they can improve the export options: currently you can export songs or patterns to the Files app or Audiocopy, which is fine, but it could really do with an option to export stems, or an Ableton set, so you can work on it further if need be. You can do this on the EMX2 and Gadget, so I’m hoping this will be a future update! Overall this sounds great, is fun to use and, crucially, once you know the workflow it stays out of your way and allows you to just make your music..Version: 1.0.2

Could have a winner on their hands. They were so close to nailing this. They got most of the fundamentals right, but seem to have rushed it out before polishing it to perfection. Cons: No metronome, instead each supposedly empty pattern has a 4 on the floor kick pre-programmed, which is just lazy and annoying. Still stuck with outdated IAA instead of going with AU. It could really use an undo system to speed up workflow.. And last but not least, the biggest drawback is no sample or wavetable import ability and while it includes 140 wavetables and PCMs in addition to a healthy number of drum samples, they only bothered to create 25 presets. Pros: It sounds wicked amazing. The lack of synth presets drawback is offset by the fact that it’s super easy to program incredible sounds with it — one of the simplest iOS synths to work with. Excellent modulation and automation system, beautiful sounding effects, very straightforward UI, with an efficient sequencing interface.. It’s a super quick workflow, allowing you to create complete songs with relative ease. I find it inspirational and loads of fun. Highly recommend, though I do hope Korg updates some of the problem areas and expands its functionality, even if it means selling us IAP with feature-set improvements. Just please don’t charge us for preset packs, when you should have included at-least 25 more to begin with..Version: 1.0.1

I think it’s great - still! AND NOW AULooks really nice slotted into NanoStudio 2! Might not be some people’s cuppa but it takes me in different directions than I might have gone otherwise. Easy to use and sounds GREAT! For a synth of this type I don’t want presets. There are so many ways to modulate and automate who needs them? To me this is not about making basses, pads and leads. There are plenty of places to get those. It’s more that I can make crazy sounds I’ve never heard before! No metronome? Who cares?? Lay down a simple beat and go for it! Think outside the box kids! There’s a lot you can do with this app if you tap into your creativity! BTW - I would like the song mode to loop and I haven’t heard any significant clicking that I can’t fix since the last update..Version: 3.0.0

An Excellent AppInitially I was hesitant on this one but I caved in and I’m glad I did. It’s well integrated and the sequencing aspect is exactly what I was looking for. It is the ideal musical sketch pad. Compared to gadget it is far easier to get ideas going, especially when using without a controller keyboard. The automation is almost perfect too. Like anything there’s things I wish it had but bearing in mind this is v1, the future is promising: I’m not too keen on the drums, whilst useful are a bit over processed. I find the UI to be a little fiddly, I’m running on an iPad mini but I still think the touch points could be made bigger within the current structure. I also think when you tap a knob they could enlarge for finer control. The synth is capable of much more than the typical use cases emphasise. It would be great if some sort of deeper mode could be revealed especially for envelopes so slower sounds could be used. The drum step sequencer is great and I like the end step facility, I may be missing something but it’d be cool to change the last step per drum to get poly-rhythms. It would be great if the sequencer could work with other apps and external devices. Great work!.Version: 1.0.2

I like this better than gadgetNice synth, easy to use, import your own samples.... it’s a groovebox. They’re supposed to have limitations. It bounces out to Ableton sessions. What else could you want. This thing slaps..Version: 2.0.1

Not broken, don’t fix.You just changed the unison voice count from scrolling to drop-down, that’s not an improvement it was faster to scroll. It’s a small thing but it worries me that you’ll make more “improvements” that just slow things down. If you keep the scroll but just allow the drop down via a double-tap it will be the better of both worlds. Please be careful on your improvements. Why it’s perfect to me: the synth parameters are all on one page. The wave table plus vpm gives you all you could want without it getting too complicated that’s it not fun and requiring tabs, the parameters reset easily with a double tap. This is my favorite wavetable synth because of all these things. If they aren’t fun I don’t use them, if they don’t have fm I don’t use them. Please keep the power and simplicity. Suggestions: every sound could use a sub to fatten out the thinness of wavetable sync and fm type sounds, yet it’s buried, make the sub separate, an addition to the mods instead of the either/or it is now. Also an option for a more full size standard keyboard please. Other than that there isn’t much I could ask for and that’s saying a LOT, I finally have an iPad substitute for my Blofeld where Waldorf Nave failed me due to lack of fm. FM is EVERYTHING when it comes to wavetable. Thanks!.Version: 2.1.0

I love this appThis is hands down one of the most powerful, beautiful, all in one music making apps available. Behaves more like a hardware instrument and less like software than anything I’ve used. Unless I need to add vocals to a song, I don’t have to use anything else. This really makes an iPad a serious music making device for me. The synth sounds amazing. So deep but really easy to understand. Having the ability to easily import samples is awesome. I do synthwave and industrial. It transitions from smooth analogue to harsh digital sounds with ease. The only thing that could be improved is, I wish the mute and solo buttons locked instead of having to keep holding them down to utilize..Version: 2.0.1

AuV3 AddedMassive that Korg has updated one of their synths to AU. It works great, all Params exposed and it will be used extensively by me from now on. Fingers crossed for the Mono/Poly next. Thank you Korg..Version: 3.0.0

Great Use of TouchscreenThis is the first iOS Electribe to fully use the touchscreen capability. The original IOS Korg Electribes emulated the actual hardware devices with little knobs and everything they were fun but kind of wasted the functionality of the touchscreen. This baby is a whole new cat very easy to use even for beginners. I would say it’s a dessert island music app, I just want to jam on it all day. I think I will take a crack at some psytrance. Oh ya the synth is wave table meaning virtually unlimited sounds, it’s like Serum for iOS. Kudos Korg..Version: 1.0.2

Great automationLoving the sounds and the features. Especially the motion page to automate all kinds of things per instrument. Fairly easy to understand GUI too. I haven’t read any manual and figured out a lot on my own. And these would be things that feel more compicated to do in other apps, but are very straight forward and easy to learn in this app. Another great quality Korg product! Glad i bought this app. Looking forward to seeing this as a module for Gadget soon hopefully....Version: 1.1.0

This thing sounds amazingI just wish it could be used as an audio unit:.Version: 2.1.1

Full workstationKorg you guys really out did yourselves, I feel like the interface is so easy to understand on here, I like the look of the app I appreciate all of the instrument choices we get per part, the mixer interface is a beauty i feel like I’m in a studio, I imagine this works great with a midi controller I sort of want to buy the nano kontrol to find out, basically you can play back clips much like how Korg gadget or the Nintendo ds game work, but I don’t know I really like the electribe work flow, this app gives so much freedom and control over how you want you your music to sound, beyond impressed, I want to incorporate this in some of my songs along with my other hardware instruments.Version: 3.0.1

Weird/Great little appHonestly, it’s takes a bit of time to wrap yr head around the truly mind boggling workflow but the results are worth it. If you spend the time you’ll be rewarded with a very deep(and limited)all in 1 music making app. ESP if your into left of center electronic style music..Version: 3.0.1

AU3 Saves My InvestmentKorg adopting AU3 shows their willingness to adapt to Apple’s standards and makes me feel more sure about my overall investment in this ecosystem rather than them abandoning their products. I am over buying synth apps that reach EoL and are abandoned so I’ll be sticking to Korg moving forward. Thank you!.Version: 3.0.0

Awesome job KORG!I can’t put this thing down. I normally use a combination of Cubasis 2 and BeatMaker 3 with audio unit apps for creating audio tracks on the go. I later export them to my full pc studio for final composition, mixing and mastering. This app is super easy to program, stable (very important), the sounds are top quality, it can work as an audio unit or stand alone, allows individual audio track bounce/export, and it is not cpu hungry! In the past I stayed away from KORG on the iPad because they are not AU3 compatible, but as soon as this one was updated to AU3 I had to try it. Cons - the AU3 version does not have the drums, saved patterns, user saved presets, etc from the stand alone version. Hopefully this is fixed in the future. I would also like the option to export the midi data..Version: 3.0.0

Superb, make a dedicated controller!I had an Elctribe EMX, my second bit of music buying gear I ever bought. I never really liked the engines that much it a very specific character to it, kind of grainy. I love wave tables and this thing sounds so contemp. I plan to sample loops into my SP16. Have all the Korg apps , they all sound great, my fav is gadget. But this is a great idea for a groove box, like to see a granular sampler in their future. My biggest want is a dedicated controller for the groove box apps. If they stuck to this format with different engines this would be amazing. Then they could bring out a decent controller for all of them. Maybe with a converter in it for recording ? A groovebox iOS format with a dedicated controller , may one basic cheap one and a pro version for gigging ?.Version: 1.0.2

Lots of fun with this app!The layout is very fluid. So it makes it easy to stay focused and creative. The dark colored GUI is great for long sessions without experiencing eye fatigue. The synth sounds great. You can really get a lot out of it. But it would be nice to have more waveforms to work with. The drum sounds are the weak point of this app. They’re OK. But it’s rather limited in the selection of samples. This app would get 5 stars if they add the ability to import your own drum samples. UPDATE: My request for importing samples was granted and the waveforms in the IAPs are definitely worth having. Thanks for the free samples as well. Bouncing synth and drum parts to iTunes file sharing is a quick way to resample and add more effects. Kudos on that!.Version: 2.0.1

Korg’s Best IOS Synth!I have Gadget w/almost all the gadgets, iM1, Module, ARP ODESSEi, iElectribe, but this one is my favorite. Super easy workflow, the wavetable synth has enough depth to it that you will not get bored easily and the liquid, full-bodied sounds it puts out along with the motion control are comparable to most VST’s. Do not stress over the drum sounds or the very limited sequencer. Bounce your tracks out to Ableton and arrange and polish it there. Convert your drum tracks to midi and layer them up in Ableton and you will have all the firepower you could want. Or import your own drum samples if you need something specific. Bottom line, this is a musical sketchpad that can deliver synth sounds that compare favorably with VST’s costing hundreds, but also at the same time in a convenient and fun, easy to use package..Version: 2.0.1

AwesomeAfter being rather disappointed with the iELECTRIBE iPhone, this is just a superb little workstation that seems to do everything right. Now I have with the electribe wave and kaossilator, gadget, iDS, iELECTRIBE, plus Cubasis as I find the flow in gadget hard to use, on my iPad and ableton live and gadget on my MacBook, and a KORG nano key plus an electribe em1, and seinheiser hd25 headphones a nice little compact audio setup. To bad I gave away my Behringher truth monitors. And I’m planning to purchase a mini KORG kaossilator s2 synth, and hopefully some mini analogue korg synths when I can afford to..Version: 1.0.2

Good but with limitationsFirstly, the synth sounds fantastic. It’s very versatile and enjoyable to use. In fact the whole interface has been well designed and is responsive. I just wish they would move on from this old design of a single insert effect per part. It’s unnecessarily limiting. Just having 2 inserts would be so much more flexible. It’s great having 8 bars but I wish there was a way to start playback from the bar you are editing. If you are editing the drum fill on bar eight you have to start the playback from the beginning and then when it reaches bar 8 you can press the loop button. But this is quite tedious, especially if you are using a lower tempo. Overall, I really like this app though. It sounds good and is fast to navigate so you stay within a creative mindset without getting confused. I hope Korg continue to develop it..Version: 1.0.2

Very Good GrooveboxThis is a great little groovebox for iPad. On the iPhone it’s a bit more fiddly, but still usable with good reading glasses (not very superstar dance producer, but I’m getting on now). Not much more I can say apart from it’s amazing value for the money..Version: 3.0.1

It really is great hope to see further improvementsMuch to like here. Analog waves sound full over headphones (have yet to try over speakers)lots of polyphony, wavetable modulated sound character, great character fx,simple ui navigation. In short sounds great. The negative. Unable to change sequencer length per part. Please implement this Korg devs! One effect per part could be improved or Internal rerouting of channel to gain another fx slot. Really like app will easily be able to prepare a set on this..Version: 2.0.1

Almost greatOnce you get your head around the workflow, this is a cool little device, and decent sounds can be created from the waves available. One star off for the lack of being able to import user samples (NOT IAP sound packs please), as this would expand the drum section, which is very limited in its current state. Sample import please..Version: 1.0.2

Perfect! This is amazing. It’s fun and easy to use once you get the hang of it. You can export as a .wav to audiocopy and then too audioshare. After that, you can use the .wav file with other audio apps like Korg Gadget 2..Version: 2.0.1

IPad studio boy (rraccerr)This is a fantastic app for me. I’m not a professional. Still learning but it’s amazing to me as an learner of music creation. Just having an awesome app like this in my hands is greAt. I’m truly grateful to all the the team of KORG. Thank you..Version: 1.0.1

Cool kit, no metronome :(Really neat Groovebox. An excellent addition to the Electribe series. Where's my metronome? :((((((((.Version: 1.0.2

Yay! Sample import! My only major complaint before was lack of sample import. Thanks for addressing that one, Korg! All ya need to do now is improve the song mode and it’s perfect. Even without that, I’m in for five stars. Great work!.Version: 2.0.0

Great but needs tweaksWould get 5 stars apart from a couple of things 1. No integration with gadget 2. NO UNDO! Please put this in, especially on the utility page! Other than that for the price (£20 at the time of writing) it's excellent..Version: 1.0.1

Happy I took the chance. This app has really impressed me tbh. I had never used an Electribe, only a Groovebox. For what it is, it’s pretty cool. It has a pretty great sound first of all. It doesn’t sound cheap. It has some very thick, deep, gritty sounds in it. And some great drum sounds. It sounds crisp and clear. It’s fairly user friendly. Learning to create songs by chaining patterns wasn’t too difficult. I really like how there’s an optional 8 measures to work with. And the keys are quite responsive to touch on here which has been cool. It’s been fun learning to use it. I still haven’t been able to sync it with my other gear though. That’s one of my main obstacles with it now. Other than that I think it’s pretty great..Version: 3.0.6

Fantastic!!!This is a phenomenal app that sounds great, comes with fantastic presets, it sounds super modern and cutting edge and it’s easy to use. It will take a few minutes to learn but once you know what you’re doing it will become intuitive and easy to use. The included sounds sound absolutely fantastic and it’s very quick and easy to create your own individual sounds. You can create patterns or songs and beats and melodies, everything is great and the way it should be. All in all, a fantastic app!!! Well done KORG!.Version: 1.1.0

Now excellentThis is one of those apps that benefits greatly by making it an audio unit, or rather exposing the synth as an audio unit. I really hope that KORG does this with all their apps. My vote for the next one is iM1 because of its flexible, complex sound creation ability. Isn't the AUV3 concept a wonderful thing. Thanks to KORG for such great sounds and tools and for setting a great example for others to follow. Hey Moog, I can think of some apps of yours that would excite us again for their existence with them being audio units..Version: 3.0.0

Great Update For A Great App 👍🏼Thanks for the great update today. Loving the Sample import and Ableton Project Export. I truly love this app and anything else you add to it is just bonus. As far as what I’d like to see in the future is the following: . Serum wavetable import support . Basic sound editor for Drum Samples to specify Start/End ADSR on drum pads . Multiple effects per channel like in Gadget . Better per channel midi support so i can manipulate Cutoff on per channel basis instead of globally as it is now when connected to external device (per channel Midi Learn i guess 🙏🏼) Anyhoo. Loving this update. Great work team👊🏼™️.Version: 2.0.0

Love it, issues with Korg NanoKeyThis is a fully functional groovebox with just as much if not more features than a standard all in one device. I’ve been using this with my Korg NanoKey Studio. Awesome pairing but it seems the knobs and pad buttons don’t work about half the time I connect it. Disconnecting and reconnecting seems to fix the issue. Still a bit annoying though.Version: 3.0.2

Nice appAs audio unit it is available as a single wavetable. It would be nice to have aces to patches/programs and drums.Version: 3.0.2

Incredible New ElectribeThis Electribe is packed with new features and upgrades from the original iElectribe. The synth options are a virtual playground for sound designers. It will be great if a future update extends importing PCMs for custom wavetable exploration and the ability to use the synth engine in Gadget. But for now, the sounds and sequencing available at this price make it Korg’s very best and most accessible standalone synth app that can be used to create complete songs from start to finish. To Korg, the app developers, and the demo writers, thank you for creating another excellent synth..Version: 1.0.2

FunElectribe is fun and has some good wavetable parameters to play around with. It is easy to navigate and ableton link makes combining with iOS apps a good addition. Would be great if song mode had a loop function and also a tempo button on the transport bar..Version: 2.0.1

Pls add noise to the synth!Love the wavetable synth and use it a lot but find the lack of a noise generator frustrating as it forces me to create a separate layer just to add some noise. Being able to mix in some noise is an essential feature in a synth to add grit and phatmess to certain sounds. Please add it to the Ocillator Mod Types. Then it is perfect..Version: 3.0.4

Top MarksWell done Korg, another superb development that pushes the groovebox concept even further. Electribe Wave is capable of some awesome and stunning sounds. Really good stuff 🙂.Version: 1.0.1

Need undo buttonWould be more smoother work flow with the use of an “undo” button and a metronome/count in. Please Korg! This app sounds great tho just a few annoying road blocks during creation..Version: 2.0.1
