✓ Best Ear Training AppI have been using Ear Trainer for a while but was becoming frustrated with the fixed lesson format. It would not let me configure the intervals I needed practice on. This app lets me configure everything! The other big item I was looking for was melody playback. This app plays a melody then lets you repeat it on an instrument of your choice. It listens through the mike and shows you what you played. This is the next best thing to having a teacher work with you. A unique feature is the ability to add notes before or after an interval. This makes identification harder than you might think. It is a great building block for melody playback. You can also play the second note in the interval on your instrument or an onscreen keyboard. This really helps me to find the correct range on my piano. If you are using an instrument with a smaller range, you can set it to accept the answer in any range. This has everything I need to work on all aspects of my ear training. I love it! I hope they use the ability to hear the instrument to make a sight reading trainer as well!.Version: 1.4

✓ Wonderful dictation appThis app does a great job leading you up to dictation. the sound samples are good and it has a dazzling array of wonderful features like the piano controller for answering interval questions. the only thing that could be improved is the interface - enlarging the replay button and some other adjustments would be icing on the cake. overall this is the best melodic ear trainer on the app store by far..Version: 1.3.1
✓ This training is challenging! But it is the way to get your ears tunedI read sheet music, but I also pick up tunes by hearing, I thought I had good ears so I thought this training would be easy. Well, I was wrong, I'm not that great at hearing...But that is exactly the point, to get you to find out where you are in need of improvement. In that respect it is doing its job well. The interface is nice and simple and the lessons a separated by difficulty so it lets you get ready for the next level. All in all a very interesting app and I hope my ears get better with it..Version: 1.4

This not only enables you to gain skills in relative and perfect pitch recognition, but also helps you to become even more familiar with your chosen instrument. There is also a virtual piano to let you continue to train your ears where ever you are. The lessons are well designed and you can also customise the settings to focus on the areas that need more attention. You can adjust the amount of notes played for melodies, the maximum interval range, and you can even display the first note played. You can 'reply' to the pitches given using any instrument (I am learning to play the concertina) or just using the graphic piano keys in the app. If using an instrument, you definitely need to turn on 'quick answer' in the options so you don't need to keep tapping 'next'.
