WeekCal for iPad for Negative User Reviews

Don’t pay the subscription!Well, two years nice I wrote the review below and still no improvement and no dark mode on the iPad version. I’d hoped I would be able to say it was better and rate a few more stars, but no. Back to the ios calendar on iPad. Ok. I’ve always liked this app BUT EARLIER THIS YEAR I SUBSCRIBED AND IT GETS ME NOTHING! So, as it stands, without the pro features THAT I’VE PAID FOR, the native iOS app is a better fit for me. Even with the pro features, if they ever get it working for me ( in the meantime I’ve paid for something I’m not getting) I can’t, for example, get on a plane in one time zone and get off in another with the app recognising that and the ability to set those time zones. So every time I get on or off a plane all the timings go wild and there is no setting or combination of time zone settings that makes it work. I’ve now been waiting over 2 months for them to fix this. They can’t tell me when they will have it fixed. They say I’ll have to wait for the next update. Maybe. If I want a refund for the service I’ve paid for but not received I have to take that up with Apple. Really very poor. They’re getting one star because I don’t think you can give them 0 stars. So, I’m planning on dumping this and I’ve reduced my rating from four to one star..Version: 12.7.6

NotificationsOnce adding a schedule I alway make sure the notification says none, but after I finish making the schedule a notification bell icon appears, and always for two notifications. I then have to turn these off..Version: 12.7.2

Doesn’t work on iPad anymore (May 2020)Unfortunately this app doesn’t work on the iPad anymore and they don’t seem to be able to fix it. It hasn’t worked since March 2020 (it is now May 2020) and no word from them as to an update. Unless this is fixed it is useless which is a shame as I think its a fantastic app..Version: 12.7.2

No Agenda view - what is the point? The reason I purchased this app was to have a high definition version of the Agenda view on my iPad. But it is not available - it is ONLY on the iPhone version! This is ridiculous because the Agenda view is the best thing about Week Cal. I have used it on my iPhone for years and was really looking forward to having it on my iPad in High Definition. As Megal13 says below, it is a great disappointment. Without an Agenda view, the sad truth is that the HD version of Week Cal offers little more than Apple's built in calendar..Version: 5.1

Weekcal for iPad not as good as iPhone versionNo Dark mode..Version: 12.3

Charged by mistakeI did an upgrade to my iPad with a different email because I didn't have access to the other one and I got a pop up message saying I will not get charged for this upgrade but I got charged. Could you please reverse this? Thank you.Version: 10.3

Bugs, lagging behind iPhone versionI’m starting to lose patience with this app. It doesn’t have the same functionality as its iPhone counterpart, which is frustrating in itself. Add to that the number of bugs that never seem to get fixed, and the pushing of the subscription model to calendars you don’t need, and this app is edging to deletion doom. One example of how it's lagging behind the iPhone version is repeating events. Setting up a repeating event in the iPhone version does not update the iPad version. You can’t edit multiple events like you can on the iPhone either. The bugs are quite a few. The most annoying is the syncing of settings and templates not working, and in fact causing them to disappear. While it is still a reasonably good calendar app, it is starting to feel dated compared to the competition of other similar apps..Version: 12.3

IPad version - Does NOT WorkIt’s been like a month since I signed up for a free 2 week trail before o this later and still doesn’t work!the subscription started. Never has worked. They now have my subscription fee and they keep saying they are working on it. “We apologize for the inconvenience. The team is still looking into the subscription issue with the WeekCal for iPad.” The free trail only lets you see the current month so I now have a 5 day usefull calendar 😩..Version: 12.7.2

Poor and disappointingCompared to the iPhone app this has been locked down. There is no way to select multiple events. The tools icon is not available. There is no way I am paying a yearly sub . Greedy app makers I have already purchased the app which was quite expensive no more money for you.Version: 12.7.2

Wish it would synconise colours across all iPad etcWould be even better if colours and icons synconised.Version: 12.7.2

ScamI paid last year for the pro subscription. Starting this year, while they still took my money, the iPad app no longer recognizes that I’m a Pro subscriber. Multiple emails back and forth with tech support have not resolved the problem. I love the app. The reason I pay for Pro is to be able to use the monthly view. I’ve asked for my money back and been told only that the developers are working on the bug. You can’t charge a fee if you don’t have a way to deliver the service. Dishonest fraud!.Version: 12.7.2

I don’t get it…OK so the app actually deserves four stars minimum, but I’m giving it one to accentuate this simple point-I messaged them and ask them this question and they gave me a stupid answer like we can’t Satisfy all of our users requests, which is ridiculous. What I asked was simply one of the features that was in the iPad app be available on the iPhone and vice versa with a different features, it’s super simple and easy to do I don’t get why they don’t do that because that simple thing is a huge problem for me. I want to see only three days or four days in my week view on the iPad app, and I want to Be able to choose multiple events in order to move or copy them in the iPad app both of these are respectively available in the other one… Seems ridiculously simple to just add the features especially since I already paid a lot of money for both of the apps! Fix this dammit!.Version: 10.3

Stupidest bug ever and the tech service replyWhen you set alarms you can set 1st and 2nd alarms. Example: I set the first to 1 hr and then the 2nd to 15 min. Then when I save it and look at it on Weekcal, it's reversed! It show 1st alarm 15 min. And 2nd alarm 1 hr. So I open it and reset it correctly to no avail. So I never know if my alarms, which I count on are correct. I'm always opening and redoing all my events because I don't know since it shows reversed times. I have contacted client services 3 times. Their response is and this is only one of their direct quotes: "Thanks for your comment. As already told the alerts will be executed at the time you set them, even if the display order has changed. There's no order in database, just alert times. Kind regards, Sophie" REALLY? Are you kidding me? This isn't display order. This actually shows the ALARM TITLES REVERSED. I hope the developers see this review. Alarms are essential in my calendar as I'm sure they are in everyone's. The fact that there is a major bug issue since one of their software updates is denied 3 different times is horrific at the least..Version: 10.3

Don’t get the update. Ruined it!I had the different views and all was well. I do on my iPhone but Now I don’t on my iPad Pro. Every time my finger slightly slides on the screen your Upgrade pop up jumps up over the screen! I can’t slide from one month to the next now. It is horrible! Nor do I have the views my phone has. Scam to require a new subscription for a second device just because it is an iPad instead of another iPhone. I hit restore purchase but it says no IPAD subscription..Version: 12.7.5

DONT EXPECT IT TO BE LIKE THE IPHONEThis app, displayed on a bigger screen , does not allow you to select more than one event (WHY?!,when it’s easier to see them all) It will also not allow you to import settings from backup, so forget about your phone WeekCal to be in any way the same on your iPad. They are aware but will not tell you on the write up or the FAQs, which ignore the iPad all together. Think twice..Version: 12.7.6

Subscription issuesGreat app , but I had too many problems with the pro subscription not being active in the app properly. This meant reduced functionality The response rate from the support was pretty slow and as yet they have still not resolved the issue . Though it has been confirmed as an issue by WeekCal Subscription then jumped to more than £14 automatically when it was 50% of that.Version: 12.7.2

Used to be great, but free version has been forgottenThere are too many bugs in the free version, that it simply doesn’t work now that we are on IOS 16. The most annoying bug is the one when you invite anyone to a meeting the App crashes, locking up the entire screen, so you close it down, and lose the event completely. This was reported to the developers months ago and their response was “Buy the paid version” -Unhelpful! I understand that developers need to earn money, but please don’t lure us in with a free version, then break it, and tell us that the only way to make it work is to pay. I will be switching to another Calendar App as soon as I can figure out how to get my legacy data out of this one..Version: 14.0

New update sucksIn new update, hollydays apears and no way to delet them.Version: 12.7.2

FrustratingEvery time there is an update, my custom colors and icons get wiped out. Please fix this problem. Additionally, should have the option of being able to choose which holidays/events appear on my calendar. Right now, have to accept all holidays/events because they are “Read Only.” Which means there is no way to delete these holidays/events that are of no interest to me. This needs to be fixed..Version: 12.7.6

No Longer WorksThis used to be amazing, but over the last few weeks Auto Colours has stopped working. You can set auto colours, but the next time you access the calendar they have all gone. I need autocolours all the time, not just for 10 minutes. What have you done to what was a great product.Version: 10.3

Rating WeekCal Per RequestI like the calendar app, but it does not automatically sync among the three devices that I have (iPad Pro, iPad mini, and iPhone 7, all backed up to iCloud). The iPad Pro has the definitive calendar. I would like to check/update on my iPhone when I am away from home, but so far I am unable to do that. I would give the app five stars if the syncing worked properly and automatically, similar to email..Version: 12.3

ProblemI lost all my data. What happened..Version: 12.7.5

Lot of problems with this appThis app has a lot of bad bugs in it. It’s very frustrating. I have subscribed/ paid for various Calendars which they do not keep updated. They are always focused on trying to find new ways to sell you stuff instead of focusing on sorting out all the many glitches the app has. Do not buy..Version: 12.7.5

UnhappyThis app used to be really good and if there was a problem the app developer, Daniel I think, would respond within an hour or two. However, that has now changed. I wrote an email a few months ago to ask for assistance but never received a reply. I again wrote a couple of weeks ago as my Ipad and iphone are not synching, again, no reply. I had not changed any settings but did upgrade the app. Really disappointing..Version: 8.0.3

Can’t change monthsNew update doesn’t let you change months. I would give zero stars if I could..Version: 12.7.2

Good App, Getting DatedI use Week Calendar on my iPhone and its great. The iPad version has many similarities but it hasn't kept pace with the iPhone app. Never mind If you're using an iPad Pro - there is no ability to use it in split view and that should have happened long ago. Other developers have one app that's universal and works on both devices. I don't mind paying for an iPad version, but would expect updated features more promptly - last update of the Week Calendar was 8 months ago. Might look for a different calendar app for my iPad if this one isn't updated soon..Version: 8.7

Forces you to sync with your personal calendarI bought this thinking it would be the perfect calendar to use for work, but if forces you to sync with your personal calendar. Very disappointed. I bought this bc google calendar forces you to sync with your gmail account. I need something to keep my work calendar separate from my personal calendar. I wanted this just for work with none of my personal stuff on it. Frustrating to say the least. I suppose it would be a good personal calendar but definitely not for work..Version: 10.3

Can no longer share events via text!I have been using this app for a while now and for the last month the app will not allow me to share events via text/imessage which is a feature i usually use every day to send events to workers. I have tried to message weekcal via their support email and it keeps stating “something went wrong”. So cannot contact support. Im pretty disappointed with this app now.Version: 12.3

Oh, but the crashing. This is by far the best calendar app I have found, and I desperately want to continue using it, but, ugh, it crashes constantly, and it is making me crazy. I contacted the developer and received an email stating that the problem would be fixed in the next update, but it has been 6 weeks, and no update has materialized. Meanwhile, the crashing just keeps happening more and more frequently. I need a great calendar app for my business, and this is the only app that met my needs, but it’s basically worthless at this point. Please, please fix it!.Version: 10.3

Chinese charactersWorks ok but half the calendar is in Chines..Version: 10.3

Can not resync settings since update of iOS 13I was really happy with WeekCal, had been using it for many years but recently though after updating on the new iOS 13, found a problem. After making a backup of all my settings, I deleted the app to try resetting an problem I found. This actually caused a bigger problem as all my settings could not be resynced- the option to do this from emails was no longer present 😩. This meant I had to recreate all my automations (templates, auto colours, auto icons) settings through what I could remember, which was a very painstaking task! I also did contact WeekCal giving them a detailed account and screenshots of my dilemma but after 3 weeks no solution to why my synchronised setting were not able to be resynced from an email. I’m still waiting for a response to resolve this....Version: 12.7.2

Les modèles disparaissentJe crée. des modèles et ils ne persistent pas. Dommage car j’ai acheté cette application pour la couleur et les modèles..Version: 10.3

Two subscriptions? Really? Can’t believe you have to pay twice to be able to use the apps fully on both iPad and iPhone. Even without the subscriptions the autocolors don’t sync across both. Other developers manage to come up with apps that sync successfully and equally across both so why not this one? I would happily pay a little more for just one subscription that works across both. It can’t be that hard to do so think it’s more about getting people to pay twice. Shame as I like the app overall..Version: 12.7.6

Custom Colors Not Working Even with Most Recent UpdateI have used this app for many years without any issues. I use it on both my iPad and my iPhone. Recently, the custom colors stopped working for me. I was told I needed to have the Pro subscription in order to continue using custom colors. I did the subscription, and the custom colors still aren’t working. There was an app update about 6 days ago which I was told fixed the custom colors issue. I updated the app on both my devices, and the custom colors I wanted worked…for about three days, then they disappeared again from the custom colors list. Aaaargh! I reported my issue (again) to Support two days ago, and so far have not even had so much as an acknowledgement. If you aren’t going to fix this issue, just say so! NOT a happy camper!.Version: 15.6.2

Great app when it doesn't crashLove this calendar but I've been trying for some time to resolve the issue of it crashing when I perform certain tasks! I've sent requested data through to support but nothing sorted..Version: 10.3

Was greatThe app no longer links address to maps so it’s not useful anymore..Version: 10.3

Cannot send event to another iPhone user.I would have given 5 stars except... Sending an event iPhone user to iPhone user via Send Message does not work in current version. It used work! My husband and I do this all the time. Or, would like to be able to again. WeekCal folks claim they cannot reproduce the problem, therefore are not fixing it. Big problem. Both of us have reported details multiple times - versions of devices and iOS, steps to reproduce, exact wording of the message the recipient gets upon opening the event text message. All to no effect. Not OK. We still have and use the app, but this is not the type of response we have come to expect from WeekCal..Version: 12.7.2

Used to be good, developers got greedy in the last yearI thought it was just me, but after reading the review before mine I see that there was a trend towards greediness and failure to provide further service. This is still a good app, and I *already* paid for the thing, and now they’ve gone ahead and removed some basic functionality (Like being able to click on URL links and have them actually do something, not now!). I wouldn’t have thought you’d be allowed to remove functionality that somebody has already paid for, and then tell them to upgrade to pro if they want to access that. Actually considering to contact the App Store / Apple to see if they’re allowed to do this is it doesn’t seem to follow the basic terms of contract law and product sales. I’ve been using this app for 7 years. Get yourselves together and stop being greedy, youre gonna lose new people and your loyal user base. Whatever you decided to do 1 year ago was the WRONG direction to go in..Version: 12.7.6

Subscription Model Killed This AppI used to love it but no more. Found a replacement.Version: 12.7.2

From 5 stars to 1 star (well 0 stars, really)New version (8.0.2) has a fatal bug - whenever you select a task and tap on 'Edit', you're presented with an empty white box instead of the details to be edited, and you have to crash the app out to recover from the lock-out. Effectively, you can no longer do edits in this new version, at least on IOS 8.1.2. A previously-brilliant app rendered useless by poor testing, it would seem - how could a bug this obvious get past quality control?!? ...... If you haven't already upgraded, don't!.Version: 8.0.2

Paid and won’t workGreat app and idea. I loved using it but it was only for the current month so I wanted to get the pro version so I could use other months for planning. First I signed up with my iPad to have the 2 weeks free trial of the pro version. It wouldn’t work after I registered and signed up so I kept emailing and trying to get it to work. They would send me a question, I would answer it, then nothing back. This kept happening for the full 2 weeks of the free trial that I didn’t end up getting to use. So I gave them the benefit of the doubt and still wanted to buy it and say screw it im sure it will be fine. Now I bought it and it still won’t work and I’ve sent countless email for help and nothing. I’ve asked for a number I can call so I don’t have to write a million emails to get an answer and they won’t do that. Terrible customer service. Even if they didn’t understand why there was an issue, at least write back and explain that. It’s extremely frustrating. I never write poor reviews because I understand people are busy and things happen. But they are blatantly not doing their job and my money is with them..Version: 12.3

This app is getting worse and nothing can be done. After the 11 iOS update, before you sent the message it's already gone at lord know what time. Making my life difficult. I'm looking for a few more days then removing. It's getting slower and (if that's my battery) the app sends random times out!.Version: 10.3

Used to be a Great appReally love this app. The color coding events, enabling to add the emoticons, seeing same info on my iPhone and my iPad, repeat functionality, the different views and the notification choices are great. I just wish you could sort by appointment type. Update: all the different overlapping calendars are confusing. Each holiday has 2 entries, unable to streamline or delete duplicates. Also, when I program my schedule into app, if I touch a date wrong or for too long it changes my schedule which is unhelpful. Update: You lost another star. I HATE that I can’t change my day view. I don’t want a split screen to see other events. I just want to see that day but iPad version doesn’t give that option any more. Also not happy you haven’t worked with iCloud and figured out a way to keep color coded event preferences synced between devices. It’s time to start looking for a new app, which is a shame. None of my previous issues have even been addressed and they just keep making it worse not better..Version: 15.6.8

Great but with nags (and i’ve paid)I bought the “pro” version a while before this became a free app. Now there is a charge to buy reminders (which I don’t need) but im nagged to support and buy this annual subscription. Please spare a thought for us that have already paid for the app. Im all for supporting developers but treating those who got the app for free the same as those of us who have already paid is a bit unfair, otherwise 5 stars.Version: 12.3

Can’t take the incessant subscription nagging anymoreI purchased this app years ago. PURCHASED. Then the developer decided to switch to a “freemium” model where the app is free but they nag you repeatedly to subscribe to the “pro” version. Purchasers of the app should have been permanently grandfathered into a nag-free experience… no, I don’t expect the “pro” features for free, just to not hit me with this obtrusive ad over and over again. I’m done with this app..Version: 15.6.8

No Split View Mode and Bad Scroll BehaviorUpdate: On the iPhone in List view. Set up a custom Calendar. Switch to it. Move to scroll the list view. The scroll jumps to two or three years in the past. Previous: Despite all that it is able to do, WeekCal iPad does not work in split view mode on the iPad. Power planners (who are the most likely audience) be warned. You can set all sorts of colors and bells and whistles and features inside the app, but you will be sorely limited or overburdened to do a parallel review of your calendar content against any content outside of it, for example to review your calendar side-by-side against a project or task sheet (e.g. OmniFocus or Things)..Version: 12.7.2

On the iPhone great...On iPhone it's excellent, on the iPad it's not. There needs to a serious effort to upgrade the iPad version so that the quality calendar views are universal. In particular, the day/agenda view is not as there seems no means to view only those events for a specific date (on iPhone several choices)..Version: 8.7

Why still no agenda view? The iPhone version of this app is my most-used app, thanks to the superb "agenda" view, which gives a perfect week-to-a-page look. For the lifetime of the iPad app, users have been requesting, and the developers have been promising, the agenda view in this version but it never comes. How complicated can it be to add this and create a perfect sister app for the iPad?.Version: 12.2

Great App BUT......Have been using this calendar on my iPhone and iPad for many years but have experienced a problem on my IPad using iOS 11.1.3 - in trying to delete one episode of a monthly scheduled appointment, the app shuts down every time I try. I can delete with no problem on my iPhone using iOS 10. Have you guys not updated the app for 11? Please get this adjusted as I love the app - especially if mini-month view. Thanks..Version: 10.3

Don’t upgrade to PRO!!!I love this calendar for my ipad! It is the best one around. However, after using if for 2-3 years, I thought I’d upgrade to pro to see if I would love it even more. Now...it won’t work well at all! Everything is a dysfunction, I mean everything!!! Its essentially useless. I contacted the developers to try and get the problems cleared up or at least give me money back for the pro version and delete it from my calendar. Its been two weeks, 2 attempts to contact them and now and completely no response!.Version: 12.7.2

No longer synchronizes with other devicesUntil recently, this was by far the best calendar app on the market. Not only would it synchronize with all of your iOS devices and Outlook calendar but it allowed you to seamlessly share calendars with other users of this app. Not only does It no longer allow you to share calendars with other users, it is not even synchronize calendars between your iPhone and iPad on the same iTunes account. I hope this can be corrected soon to restore week calendar to its previous #1 position..Version: 12.7.5

I stopped using itI stopped using this calendar. Without warning, it changed the way it invites others to an event and became completely useless to me. My EA has written to the developers asking for guidance but after 3 weeks and 3 emails there has been no response. I'm going over to Sunrise now. FYI: the change I am referring to is that it now creates an email of the calendar invite and emails it to the person being invited. Except when they click on the 'accept' button in the email, nothing is created in their calendar. Very frustrating for it to suddenly change like this..Version: 8.7
