Dishonest and IllegalThey rolled out the premium Gold service in Australia, then within a few weeks after people had signed up, they revised their policy to allow only one discount per member in one day across all partnered venues (it used to be one discount at each venue per day). This policy change was never distributed in an email to paying members. I only found out when I was trying to pay for drinks and had to message Zomato online from a bar for assistance. The chatbot couldn’t even answer my question properly. I paid for a one years subscription with those initial policies. You can’t get users to pay for a years worth of services, then three weeks in change the policy so that those services no longer exist. This isn’t even legal. Anyone who wants to know more should google this and read some of the related news articles..Version: 14.1.0

Horrible hospitality and worst service providerI’ve experienced a Horrible service from the rudest employees they could ever hire, whereas the customer needs to go and collect the food where’ve the valet is located( and I don’t know why they call it deliver it to doorstep) Conclusion: horrible service provider with automated responses from the customer service representatives and having drunk employees to deliver at night..Version: 14.3.5

Location functionality abysmalWhy would I share my location data with this app if I get nothing out of it? The most useful functionality for restaurant hunting is being able to search in a particular area and sort by proximity, which is poorly supported/non existent 1. I want to be able to searching for all restaurants near me and sort by distance from me (ideally I'd be able to set the point from which distance is measured as well, so I could research somewhere close to work while I'm at home) 2. Map view pls 3. I want to be able to sort my bookmarks by proximity: which are the restaurants that I'm interested in that area near me now?.Version: 14.0.3

Not convinced urbanspoonerWhere are the dates on the feed? I can remember the rough date i went somewhere but not how many days ago. and when I rate somewhere and review I should be able to put the date or at least month I was there what is with the pricing system? $x for 2 ppl?! what's wrong with price per main then you just multiply by how many people you are going out with? where is the link to actual restaurant website? what is with the restaurant adding form? I am an 'urbanspoon prime' so was able to add and rate restaurants straight away. UPDATE - now can't even find how to add a restaurant UPDATE - even when you add a restaurant it sits in PENDING MODERATION for sometimes YEARS!!! why do none of the restaurants I have been to have a rating? I don't mind the /5 system but I have been to and rated hundreds of them on urbanspoon, what happens with these? where is my favorites list?! from what I can tell it's now mixed in with my wishlist and called bookmarks. this needs to be separated. also, where's the map for the bookmarks? if I'm going to a suburb I want to be able see places I wanted to go in that area easily. UPDATE - filter has been added but it doesn't actually work! obviously a bug! AND MONTHS LATER IS STILL NOT WORKING! Review on Zomato is biasedI had written a review on a bad experience with a take away restaurant the review has been removed supposedly citing not meeting criteria. I had been careful that I was not using harsh words. Also proof with a photograph was posted. It’s not good that majority of the reviews for all restaurants are either 5 or 4 stars. It’s not worth writing or using this app if only good reviews are promoted. Prospective customers need to know all perspectives..Version: 13.3.0

Very Rude Customer Support TeamI placed an order from Vantillu, Hafeezpet, Hyderabad on Zomato. The order has 1 x Veg Meals Full For 2 Person and 1 x Rumali Roti. Once I received the order, there was no rumali roti and 2 items from the Veg Meals was missing. I tried contacting the customer support to explain the situation of the missing items. All Zomato did was they contacted the restaurant and the rider who delivered the order and confirmed that there were no missing items and ended the chat. I had to contact them thrice for the same thing but they won’t even listen to their customer. It’s very rude of their executives to behave this way to their customers. It’s frustrating that you receive the missing items and then had to contact them only to realize that they don’t care for their customers. I won’t order from Zomato again and their customer team only gives terrible experience to their customers..Version: 15.9.7

DisappointingThe problems started when we walked up the stairs. No one to greet us and after standing around for 5 mins, we walked over to the bar. Appeared there was only one person working and she was doing everything. We were seated at table so small it would barely fit one plate, so we asked to be moved. She said they were fully booked and she could not move us. 5 mins later she said there was a cancellation, and we were moved to a bigger table. We observed, and there were several tables vacant while we were there, so not fully booked. The food was good, but came out almost all at once, and were then basically ignored. The service, ambience, and attention to customers was disappointing. Even trying to pay was as issue as there was only one person working..Version: 13.1.2

FrustratedI don’t think I’ve ever used an app that gets worse with every update. I avoid updating as long as possible as it continues to get less and less user friendly. The ability to circle the map to where you wanted to see restaurants was the best feature and that’s now gone along with being able to view the list of restaurants on the map. Pretty close to never using this app anymore given how frustrated I get ever using it. They’ve also just become obsessed with flogging Zomato gold and don’t really care about offering the service they are meant to offer. Terrible app, disgusting serviceThe app itself just keeps getting worse. I’m a vegan, you’d think I’d be able to search for restaurants that have vegan options, I used to be able to do a search and it’d show me exactly that. Not now though, the latest iteration won’t let me do a search with 2 criteria, not only that, if I just search for vegan options it gives me a list of random places that don’t even have vegan options!? And don’t get me started on the service, this app owes me hundreds of dirhams, will I ever get it back? Nope, they tell you they’ll put the money back on your card, but never do. Then if you chase up they claim to know nothing about it. I’ve gone through the headache a couple of times to get my money back, it takes weeks and you get messed around a huge amount. Disgusting. In my opinion that’s the same as theft. Also, if you’re going to have customer services in English, employ people that can speak and understand English..Version: 15.2.10

Daisy Chang HowickWe were looking forward to this. The lady who welcomed us was pleasant and very helpful, and the decor was really well done, however that’s where the good experience ended. The food sounds and looks great on the menu. In reality nothing was authentic or worth the price. Squid tentacles were tough, dumplings were doughy, the Bao buns were not made on the premises, and the duck roti was disappointing, more odd sauce than duck, the roti nothing like the flakey delicious bread we were expecting. Everything had a similar taste, and although we ate it all, as nothing was offensive, nothing left us talking about wanting to return to eat it again either. It’s such a shame, as if the food was as good as it looks Daisy’s would be such a winner. I’m sure at the moment it is, as it’s decor and style would make it a great choice for groups, a few (expensive) drinks in and the food wouldn’t be as important as it was to us. We left feeling a little flat, wishing that Daisy’s had been as good as we were hoping it would be. Love the decor and idea, the food however needs to taste and look more authentic before this will work long term..Version: 13.3.3

They steal your money!I placed an order for lunch which was cancelled by Zomato without any explanation after I informed their customer care service that I was unable to reach the delivery executive over phone despite having waited for over 30 minutes for my lunch to be delivered on a very busy day. After cancelling the order they issued a refund for half the amount I paid while issuing the other half in the form of a coupon which will expire in 30 days like I would ever want to use the app again (Given that they messed up 3 out of 5 times I have ordered using this app). When I politely asked for a full refund instead the customer care executive simply said there’s nothing he can do about it as it’s an automated system. If you want to wait for your food for hours on the end without any certainty that it will be delivered then I would recommend that you choose to pay on delivery rather than have no food and lose half your money to this unscrupulous company..Version: 14.1.1

Bring back UrbanSpoon- the way it WAS!If you buy a great program, don't replace it with one that is sub-par. You would do everyone a huge, huge favor by just bringing back UrbanSpoon, with is classic yellow background, and original programming. It was the best app ever for finding places to eat. Just run two apps if you feel the need to continue Zomato, which appears to be somebody's "baby" that they can't seem to give up, and felt it was superior. Read this to the owner. It's like putting in the third-sting QB because he is the son of the largest donor. You just don't do that. You put out the best product- always. Replacing UrbanSpoon w/ Zomato is like replacing Star Wars w/ the old "Lost in Space" TV series. Pleeeease bring back UrbanSpoon in all its glory, and get the original creative programming team back? ;) Give them free reign to do so..Version: 14.1.0

Late deliveryDelivery was late as the driver wasn’t at the restaurant. Order expectation was to have delivery in 30 minutes. Delivery had not arrived over 1 hour 10 minutes. I requested refund or compensation. They said the would consider compensation upon arrival of order. How appalling that they were not taking responsibility. After a frustration conversation I requested a refund and cancelation of the order. Which in their view wasn’t possible either. Deliveroo refund without even asking. Unable to deliver a simple coffee - very poor service!I ordered a coffee from my local Tim Hortons that Zomato failed to deliver. After two hours of waiting I went online and your support people finally tracked down the order telling me it got delivered to another customer! This is very poor service! When I asked for my money back I was told I will get it back after 7 days! You were quick to take my money but it will take you 7 days to return it? This is very bad service from Zomato. Horrible site customer serviceThey missed some items from my order and instead of asking the restaurant to correct it they said that they would give 50 rupees in COUPONS to my account. In other words instead of refunding the amount of missing items or delivering them to my house they said they would give me coupons (not even ZOMATO credit) but coupons so that I would have no choice but to spend more money on their site. Their customer service is disgusting. They wanted the customer to bear the burden of the restaurant’s mistake and their incompetence. They don’t even have a helpline they just chat with you and keep suggesting that they will make sure nothing bad happens on you next order. They suggested to me to order from the same restaurant, who had messed up my first order....instead of fixing the blunder that they had made they want me to trust and pay money to the same restaurant again. I was a lot loyal costumer of ZOMATO and I ordered a lot of food there. But after I brought up this issue and I witnessed their pathetic customer service when a loyal customer has a genuine problem....I can no longer order from them. Ok food, poor serviceWent to Chat Thai at Circular Key for lunch with partner and her mum. The food was ok but service was rude. My partner and her mum had finished there meals and mine had still not come out. We Kindly asked one waitress to check where it was and she never came back to advise if it had been forgotten or where it was. When about to get up and leave about 15mins later, the meal turned up bought over by a different waitress. When letting this waitress know it was half hour late, the waitress didn’t apologise, but instead turned around and walked away while making a hand motion which looked like she was saying don’t care talk to the hand. Rendered completely useless in PortugalI was once a Gold and then Pro member, but recently Zomato completely destroyed the app. They folded all the reservation and discount features into a separate Zomato Portugal app, which I cannot access unless I change my Apple App Store location to Portugal and every app I’ve ever downloaded on it. At least I could still look up restaurant locations and reviews. Uh they’ve now removed all of those features too. This is a completely dead app for me now that can’t search and can’t find restaurants, let alone prevent me from reserving restaurants or receiving Pro discounts as a paying Zomato Pro member. This app is now effectively useless and does nothing by try to forward me to Zomato Portugal app that I cannot download. Why am I even paying for Pro? Just takes your money doesn’t deliverI placed an order on the app to be delivered to my hotel, an easily accessible and well known hotel. The delivery took 48 minutes which is fine, however the deliver driver was across the road on the map for around 10 minutes and made no effort to contact me. My order was then cancelled, and the reason was that they couldn’t contact me, but I never received any missed calls and I was actively trying to chase up the order. They couldn’t offer me a refund as it went down as a penalty, so they charged me the full amount and an hour later, I don’t even get any food or any sort of incentive to order again. The man on the chat was nice, but he couldn’t offer me anything but ‘sorry’ and that doesn’t make up for my losing my money, when the driver could have accessed the hotel easily but didn’t..Version: 15.5.9

Money making machine and dismal customer care attitudeI have been a long time customer of Zomato All they do is know how to make money - not invest back in either their drivers or chain or customer care support Recently my order was delayed on 2 occasions by over 2 hours I tried to get my money back but Zomato couldn’t care less No remedy provided, no solution no remorse or regret and most important no refund So they make money irrespective of how the customer is treated They ensure that there is no phone number to speak to them Then they field low paid binary thinking cretins on call centres devoid of any power, discretion or authority End result a money making machine taking advantage of the public and unjustly enriching themselves They have another money making and frankly dishonest service whereby they seek to charge you ten bucks for delivering on time? Isn’t that what you are supposed to do anyway??? I mean what else is your function if not in essence a food courier carrier??? If you read the fine print of that scheme you will realise it doesn’t necessarily even mean at your doorstep but within the vicinity of your home or street !!! What a con. The absurdity of the situation is that they ask customers like me for feedback only to ignore it - well you asked for it ! Now ignore me! Con artists .. Worst serviceFirst the driver have no idea of the address. The complete address was attached to the order but he can’t find it. When called and told to ask someone on road he refused it and said it’s not his job. We have to go out to the main road to collect our order. Then the driver has zero knowledge of food handling. He put the hot pizza box and chilled pepsi bottle together as a result the pizza box got wet from the opening side and when we opened the box there was water inside the box. The pizza was cold and soggy. And then he blamed on Pizza Hut for not putting the bottle in plastic bag. Don’t you have separate pocket to keep the beverages?? NEVER ORDER VIA ZOMATO AGAIN!!!!I have used Zomato twice and both times I have had a terrible experience to the point is felt compelled to write this review! The first issue I had was when I ordered a KFC. Admittedly not the classiest of we establishments however I only expected my sub standard food delivered on time and warm! Unfortunately I received my food more than an hour after I ordered it and stone cold. I made a complaint and while the "customer service representative" apologised and assured me that this would not happen again. Fast forward to today. I ordered food from Broccoli Pizza & Pasta and paid via Apple Pay. No issues with payment, I received a notification that my money had been taken successfully via my Visa Apple Pay notification. An hour went by and I logged on to find out where my food is only to see the status that “payment is incomplete”. According to these jokers, apple pay doesn't work via zomato even though it appears to do so at point of payment! What a set of cowboys! NEVER ORDER VIA ZOMATO AGAIN!.Version: 11.2.8

Very hard to use. Multiple UI guideline violations.The app is very hard to use and navigate due to poor user interface. I don’t know which mobile user interface guideline the UI designers followed, but removing the bottom navigation bar when browsing a restaurant or searching one will only confuse a novice user. Also, there is an inconsistency present in the app. The restaurant details page for restaurants with delivery is accessed via more info cell even when accessing it through go out bottom navigation bar, whereas in other restaurants it's not the case. Lastly, the whole UI is very cluttered if considering mobile screens which have limited screen space..Version: 14.3.4

Dietary Requirements not consideredThis has happened quiet frequently enough for me to now say that whenever you order from any of the restaurants on Zomato your dietary requirement isn’t considered at all. Several times I have mentioned what food could trigger an allergic reaction for me and what is not to be used and hence after all every single time I have received just normal food with specially those products in them. And due to this I have had to just Chuck my food away as I can’t eat it and my money goes to waste all the times. On approaching Zomato they simply say that the food handling is solely looked by the restaurant? So basically they can’t do anything about it. What I fail to understand is if your getting few restaurants on your app and your advertising their restaurant how can they not follow the dietary requirements, and how are you not in a place to question why that wasn’t followed as at the end of the day we have come across that restaurant via your app. How do you have no say about this ? Would you want to wait before someone actually dies of an allergic reaction for you guys to understand the importance of dietary requirements and then start taking action ? This is absolutely ridiculous .. it’s time you sort your app out.Version: 15.8.12

The new update wasn’t necessaryI’ve been using Zomato for a really long time now and I’ve always liked how it’s mobile user friendly. However, the new update and new layout is just ain’t it. It’s so compact that the app is crashing and not doing its job like how it used to. It’s really slow and laggy that it’s becoming annoying to use. Like I know Auckland wifi is trash, but it’s not that trash to the point your app will tell me to “Try Again” even with full wifi signal. Could be more user friendly3 stars because I love the information provided by the app - it tells me everything I want to know re the food, the rating/reviews, the menu, address etc But aside from being able to bookmark, the app doesn’t allow me to go into my bookmarks and sort (Eg by cafe/dinner/other filters). It would be good to be able to create my own collections of restaurants. Also when looking for places nearby, the search function brings back places quite far away..Version: 13.2.6

Useless customer support serviceIf u order any food from this website even after paying also in front of delivery partner after taking screenshot of the payment they will tell u dint paid and u will receive a call from customer executive agent that agent will not tell u the issue or without checking the payment has not done or wat she will talk much like a ediot she will end the call and mark to return a order and poor executive will be waiting near the house …… u will be receiving back to back callllsss even if u made the payment…….. they will ask u to return the food and wait for payment refund for 24 hrs is this fair????? Later they will crosss check and tell payment has done …. Goodbye ZomatoI hate this app. I have tried this app numerous times. I give up. I loved urbanspoon. I used it all the time. Wrote over 100 reviews, added over 600 photos. The section they had called “where the locals eat” was so useful. That app was very easy to use. This app shows some restaurants in they area. I looked the same place up on trip advisor et al, it showed all of the locations. I tried to write a review as I sat in a restaurant Zomato said restaurant did not exist. I tried to add it. I put all of the information into the app. I check a week later, it had not been added. It said waiting for confirmation. A month, then 2 months, etc etc etc. this has happened with 2 other reviews. I wish you can get it together and fix it. Urbanspoon was so user friendly. Why reinvent the wheel. Should have left it the way it was and just change the name..Version: 13.1.3

AppallingThe worst delivery service I have ever come across, if I could give it zero stars I would. I ordered some food and was told 45-60mins. 1hr later I was told the driver was on his way to collect the food, he would be at mine in an hours time. This would’ve been 1 hour after the food was ready, 2 hours after I ordered (the restaurant is a 12min drive from where I live). I raised an online chat complaint, after 30 mins of discussing they blamed their app and would allocate another driver. 10 mins later they cancelled the order. This whole time the poor restaurant staff had prepared and cooked the meal and waited outside the mall, to which the driver never turned up. Absolutely disgusting to both the customer and the restaurant, I urge you to use one of the better delivery services available..Version: 15.0.2

5 orders not received in 3 daysCurrently staying in Kolkata and tried using zomato to order food, 2 times in a row on first day my order was processed and I was notified that the delivery driver was on his way and then did not receive the food and was told my order was cancelled only after messaging customer service 2 hours after the order was placed! This kept happening over the next few days on mine and my boyfriends account. My boyfriend also messaged the zomato chat asking if the order had been cancelled as the food had not arrived and he received one back saying 'we have just cancelled the order on your request' showing they had obviously not read the message properly. Awful experience will not be using again in India and will not be using or recommending the app when I return to the UK..Version: 12.1.0

Erratic delivery times..USELESS APPDecent app and user friendly interface but that’s where the quality ends. Delivery times are unreliable (can’t track like uber eats) and frequently payment is charged before the restaurant can confirm that the order can be fulfilled and you’re stuck with a charged credit card looking for options to replace what you ordered. Same responses from Zomato customer service when you complain, “we will follow up and give the restaurant a stern warning “ etc etc. Nothing improves. For quick and reliable delivery times Uber eats is the way to go. UPDATE: I have long since deleted the app and no longer use it it’s a joke and I’m giving it one star because zero is not an option. After writing my first review 8 months ago I’d hoped things might improve but same story. Delivery is late or order is accepted and card is charged without the restaurant knowing if they can fulfill the order, you complain and they apologize and give you zomato credits, pointless. Absolutely Shocking.I have recently placed 3 orders recently… The first order was over an hour late and completely cold and soggy. I was promised this was a one off… I spoke to the support centre and they were absolute liars. I have the screenshots of the conversation but have not posted as yet as I was told this was an anomaly. The second Order arrived late, but was still ok to eat… so I placed a third order… this is now late as wel and I have been told the food is ready… by the restaurant. But not out for delivery yet. So I am assuming the food will be cold again. I do not recommend using Zomato for any delivery orders… I also believe the customer service agents require additional training instead of just saying the food is on its way even though it clearly isn’t when speaking directly to the restaurant.!.Version: 16.0.6

Horrid expensiveI had ordered from a restaurant which was supposed to be a lightning fast service and had a rating of 4 on Zomato, not only was my order delivered 1hr and 20mins late the food was also tasteless. I had gone by the rating but only later saw the rating page and I could only read many poor reviews and very rare good reviews. Not sure how the avg ratings are calculated. The valet said he couldn’t come any sooner as he had to deliver someone else’s order first. The app had a chat segment which was useless. It did not let me type my issue at all, instead it kept offering me a 50rupees food voucher. Every time I reject the offer it only offers again never giving me a change to explain the issue! Vikram NayakStupid app with stupid policies, i ordered food with cash on delivery option and came out to take the delivery of food when I saw the delivery guy outside my home. I left my phone inside home to charge while getting the delivery of food from delivery guy but they cancelled my order and penalised me a fine for the same amount. even though I took the delivery of food and paid for it and when I explained this to the support they are not at all interested in resolving the issue and referred to email their team who are even worst as they would take days to respond and even after will come up with automated response without resolution..Version: 13.3.2

Horrible user interfaceI like Zomato and I have been using it for a long time but after last year’s update I have been trying to cope with the new app interface and failing not to curse every time I tried to order something or to check a restaurant. I can confidently say that out of the 200 apps or so on my phone Zomato has the worst interface and is the least user friendly, did the people who designed the app work in designing puzzles before? They should be blacklisted from ever again having anything or do with an app. They have a better chance perusing a career in quantum physics or carpentry or anything but UI design. Everything in this interface is wrong, here are some of its shortcomings (to name a few): the small fonts. the colors which have nothing to do with Zomato’s website. you order from the order screen and then you need to go to a different place in the profile screen to find (by chance) notifications about your order, the profile page looks like it was designed by a different team and inserted into the app. Every single option is hard to find really! I still like Zomato and I still use the website mostly but I hope Zomato will work on a complete redesign of the app soon (then I’ll change my review) before frustrated users like me steer away from it altogether.Version: 13.1.6

Zomato started cheating and no refundDon’t trust to zomato. Horrible customer service and they will never refund you if you not follow them and keep reminding them. I had many similar cases where sometimes restaurants cancels the order and zomato never refunds. And zomato marks order as delivered but in reality restaurant already informed me that they cancelled the order and notified zomato. However zomato team called me back right after and told me that restaurant wants to confirm your location and asked to send my location to restaurant!! Really?? What is this??? that’s really fraud. When you tell this to their chat based customer support what they will say in the beginning they apologize ten times using their famous template and they say that restaurant is not answering to their phone call while I called and spoke to restaurant just before and could call them without any problem. This platform is a joke, communication nightmare for users and restaurantsThis happened to me a few of times I've tried this app recently. When I place an order, the order doesn't get confirmed for 30-45 minutes. The app just says "order pending" and under details it just says payment not complete. I've tried it with a debit card and also a mobile wallet. To find out if the order has been placed or not, I tried chatting with their customer service - their service is a joke. The chat window says "chat will start in 1 minute" and you wait for eternity with no response. Tired of waiting for confirmation, I had to resort to other service and 2 hours later Zomato delivery guy arrives with food and no notice. The app still says "order pending" at that time. The delivery guy was equally frustrated with their app and they claim this happens all the time. I've been trying other apps like Swiggy and they get their job right - timely order confirmation, keeping you always informed and comms between restaurants, users and riders. That's just basic functionality one expects. Zomato is horrible - their functionality and customer service. Worst customer service and restaurant listingsI’ve ordered from zomato several times thinking every time it’ll be good and better in services but it’s the same . And the customer service will only give you their pre made chats and unnecessary reasons . Used to be useful but now frustratingI attempted to look for restaurants in the city, while I was on the train from the country going in. Wanted one near the show I’m attending. First problem - I give it a location but it doesn’t show the results on a map and shows me ones several kilometres away. Then Looking at a restaurant it shows a tiny map but if I touch that map to enlarge it to see where it is in relation to the show venue, it assumes I want directions (I don’t) and opens google maps with directions from where I am. Totally useless as I just want to zoom the map you gave me. These updates render this app now useless and I wonder how much use case testing you did. I will go to Google now..Version: 14.0.6

Where is map features?I noticed that mapping features are no longer the core of your app. When I filter my restaurants, I can't see their location on a map any longer. When I go for Nearby places and draw a boundary for search area (cool feature btw), I can't see the search results as a list or filter the results. I'm shocked that you are taking such a backward step which is in a way encouraging your users to use Google maps instead. You do realise that you have such a massive competition with Google Maps or TripAdvisor? Your main differentiator is having much richer user rating and reviews on restaurants so the biggest mistake is not making your app as powerful as your competitors in terms of search features..Version: 12.0.4

Rip off Business by ZomatoAn order was placed for someone else; I received a call from zomato whether to deliver or cancel. I selected to proceed with delivery but I got know that my product got cancelled. Along with it payment won’t be refunded to me. On calling the sweet store they said order was picked up by Zomato guy 20 min ago since they received the request 10min ago it got cancelled. 1) I never requested for cancellation when I have made payment in full rs 811. No reason for Zomato to sent such call request; unless they intend to rip off money from customers. 2) Even after selecting to proceed with delivery on call; it was treated as cancellation requested!!! 3) No option to contact Zomato all they have Automated chat box unable to resolve..Version: 16.5.7

Pro membership is not worth itAfter getting pro memebership I thought u will get some discount. But the discounts are set up in such a way there u cannot save money. U have to order more to get discount and also without discount there is already Restaurent offering the same price. Swiggy is doing a good job and I think Zomato should keep and expert to study what Swigy is doing in terms of discount and benefits if memebership programs which is really better than Zomato. Map and search features broken in last updateNo way to filter specific cuisine , open restaurant etc. on the map anymore! WHYYYY??? Also now if you search for restaurants in the suburb you are actually in, it gives you results of restaurants in far away suburbs for some reason? And no way to turn that off. Really annoying trying to find a restaurant to walk to now. I can't see Chinese restaurants nearby on a map view, and the search results show random places that would take an hour on the train to get to. This app was so good, why did you guys change it??? You made it way worse. Please bring back the map functionality and let me search IN THE SUBURB I AM IN ONLY!!!! Update: the functionality was fixed for a while and is now completely broken again, it’s quite impossible to find a restaurant in a certain area as browsing by map has been COMPLETELY removed, and searching by ‘distance’ based on a location gives you restaurants several suburbs away. Extortionate delivery charges, poor service and lying customer service reps. AvoidMy order was purposefully delayed by zomato and I was lied to by a zomato agent called sreejith. Lacking care with communication and quality of foodWent for dinner with group of five. As some in group have trouble Hearing with high noise level, we asked if we could sit in back section which appeared quieter. We were told we couldn’t as the area was booked out. There were only 2 people sitting there at the time, and no new customers went there during the two hours we sat at our table. This the communication we had been given by the middle aged man who was supposedly in charge, was blatantly dishonest. We couldn’t discuss it with him later as he was nowhere in sight. Good restaurant selection. Tech should be improved.Zomato offers an extensive choice of restaurant partners here in Dubai. Some of the menus are just photos which can be improved; whilst the online ordering system is usually clear and easy to use. However two major problems with using Zomato: - the automatic % discounts that apply to some orders, don’t always work. If ever you have a problem, Zomatos customer service team is willing to chat but won’t solve your problem. They will usually tell you that you’re wrong or don’t understand. - any time you order, the partner restaurants and drivers will constantly use your personal number. You’ll receive phone calls asking where you are located (even though it’s stored precisely in the app), requests to send your location via WhatsApp and then constant text message promotions from the restaurant. First order and probably lastThe food came late. Was cold, the driver eventually made me meet him away from my home which was the whole point me in ordering online was so I didn’t have to go anywhere as I am unwell. He rang me 4 times and could hardly speak any English. I eventually rang the cafe and even they couldn’t speak any English then it finally came he had no idea which order was mine and was telling me to do something which I didn’t understand him so he pointed to my phone and I unlocked it and he then proceeds to go and rate himself on the order delivery which I grabbed my phone off him and was really annoyed over it then to come on and see the food freezing, my ice cream melted (wasn’t ice-cream was more of a milkshake) the pizza was stale and cold and the cheese was dry. Looked like it been left there for about 3 days. The ‘potato wedges’ are actually just crisps what we call in England and not potato wedges at all and the dip is more of a french prawn cocktail. No one replies at chat supportI placed an ordered, the order was delayed, contacted chat support where no one replied, contacted the restaurant where the restaurant said the order has already been sent out, but the driver did not deliver the meal and had cancelled the order without the app giving me any notification. 20 mins later the app said they have completed the delivery and the order has been delivered while I have not received anything. Basically, if the driver was unable to deliver your meal, and you had already been charged with the credit card, forget about anything replying anything to you. The restaurant or zomato. You are at a loss. No compensation given. No one picks up your call, or replies to your chat — not after 6 hours away, after 6 hours the customer support chat replies after I had mentioned the issue again, and said refund will take 2-7 days -‘s no compensation can be given. Zero customer supportLet me start by saying- I don’t even know how anyone can give a 5 rating to this app when Zomato delivery doesn’t even have a dedicated customer support for order issues. I had major issues with 2 of my orders last month and I haven’t heard back from customer support till now. And looks like neither I will hear in the future. May be it’s just too much to expect. Oh yes, also ZOMATO gold is a joke. Restaurants are outright rejecting customers coming in asking about ZOMATO gold. Lol! I search by restaurants a lot and it took me awhile to find the search button down below when upfront was search by location. Doesn’t make sense! Freaking annoying when I am on the go all the time and want to do a quick search. There’s also no function to turn off other neighbourhoods! Argh!! Also, why is default sort ‘popularity’? SeriouslyZomato need quality content to make their site worthwhile right? Reviewers put a lot of time into writing credible honest feedback for your readers benefit. Without quality content the business model fails, hence the importance and value of quality customer reviews. Apart from assisting others, people enjoy writing and measuring the popularity of their posts by seeing how many times their review has been viewed (no difference to You Tube). Not too much to ask? YEP! Zomato removed this feature which is a big mistake as people no longer have an incentive to provide honest detailed reviews. Shame; I liked this before but not now..Version: 12.0.2

Behind the times for a food app!!!Zomato register all orders as ‘on its way’ when it isn't. There is no correlation between the restaurants courier service and actual delivery updates. They also fail to update menu’s so many when restaurants contact them to let them know some items are not available. This results in order delays when restaurants have to call to swap out items. Very disappointed in Zomato. There are so many alternatives available, i expected there system to be modern and sophisticated but its really not. Where did the reviews go in the home delivery section?Hi, I use this app mostly for home delivery and rely heavily on the restaurant reviews left by users to help me decide what to order, if at all. With the last two updates I the button for detailed reviews has disappeared from the online home delivery option. I’m left with only the star rating from the last few orders with that restaurant. Why? Now to see reviews I have to click “back” to leave “online delivery” view and switch to all restaurant view and search for each restaurant I’m considering ordering from to read the full reviews and c pix users post of food they ordered. The lying program of zomatoThis is the story: I had a friend of my daughter’s coming over and they wanted pizza so i ordered pizza for everyone and the total was 161 AED from the app zomato and we were waiting for more than an hour we had placed the order at 9:10 and it was 9:50 so i called to check up on the order they said that the driver has taken the food and is coming at 11:30 i received a call from the driver asking for the location and i asked why were they so late they said that they picked up the order 5 minutes ago and then i asked to cancel it they said that the money would be back in 2-7 “working days” it has been 10 days and i am still waiting at first the program was perfect but after 3-5 orders the program became very bad and laggy and the drivers are so rude..Version: 15.9.12

Customer serviceNot very happy with Zomato recently. When I have had to follow my orders up (McDonald’s) the restaurant doesn’t have it on their system as details have not come through from zomato and they have been unable to help me with anything. Had to then contact zomato to try and solve issues. Their chat is all automated options and half don’t even apply so it’s hard work getting hold of someone to help. Would like to see an option for “chat to advisor to follow up an order” rather than have to open up a maze of questions which don’t apply, just to be able to chat to someone! Also delivery timings have been exaggerated on zomato today so I don’t actually know when my food is coming. Worst service and worst customer support!I would like to bring to everyone’s notice about the horrible service by Zomato! I placed an order from Pizza hut through Zomato! Pizza was ready by the shop in 15 mins! But we received the food after 1 hour and 50 mins from the time of order.. during that time i have been calling zomato to find out why the food hasnt been delivered.. then i got to know that zomato cant manage its delivery! They changed delivery boys 5 times before finally it was picked up and delivered!! By the time food which was delivered as expected was not in an eatable condition!! It was completely cold and hard! Keeps getting betterNew Review You can tell from my old review below that I was a major fan of Zomato, the app and it’s service. But I’m unfortunately their service has dropped drastically. If you order has an issue, you will not get much help, not like it used to be. Sad to say, but you are better off trusting your food order with another service provider. Horrible customer serviceI’ve been a happy and loyal customer with zomato for years! Until this week when 2 weeks in a row I had an issue with my order and instead of fixing the problem they just refunded my money instead of investigating the problem further. The first time the problem occurred I did receive a voucher which I used towards the second order. Then the problem occurred again and their representatives refused to send an additional voucher. Only to tell me my original voucher used would be returned in 2hrs and I needed to order from a different restaurant. So therefore you expect me to wait two hrs to order from a different restaurant and starve my kids til then in order to utilize the voucher. The problem could have been solved by simply gifting me another voucher since the same issue occurred 2 weeks in a row. It was my foolishness to think this problem had been solved and then to think I would receive the same courteous customer service when I did not. In my opinion the representative needed additional training as they were such in a rush to end our chat and care less that I was leaving the chat very unsatisfied! Beware for missing items- they refuse to refundBeware of ordering from Zomato and dealing with order issues. The chat/email service is quite poor, and they have 0 ability to provide credit/refunds when your order is incorrect. In my case, I was missing 1 item from my order but was told they were unable to refund me because *they* were unable to contact the restaurant. The place in question is McDonald’s. If they aren’t able to have proper protocols in place for order issues with large multinational corporations like McD’s, good luck dealing with any issues from other restaurants. Of course the item was low value, and I'm not actually upset over the monetary value I lost out on. I’m simply upset at the principal of the situation- zomato does not have proper protocols for customer protection in event of order issues. Pathetic supportZomato has literally zero support service in case you have the misfortune to seek it. The restaurant I had placed order with Zomato decided to deliver me “fries” instead of “nachos”(!!!) because they did not have nachos. Apparently for them it’s the same dish and could be exchanged without consulting me. Needless to say that substitute fries were cheaper than nachos. While that itself was unprofessional, what made me mad was this unilateral decision of the restaurant which spoilt our dinner. When I used their support option, they never offered any option to let me talk to any executive. And then soon I realised that it was all a part of their design. Poor in meeting the deadline of deliveryWhile I understand that various restaurants that are part of your network are responsible for delivering the items as the customers order, I highly believe and reckon that you have a hand in ensuring that they maintain certain fundamental standards in their quality of their services. It has been recurring that certain restaurants have been constantly making the lapse of delivering well beyond the stipulated time-frame as announced on your portal. Every so often, they have delivered over half an hour later than promised further to the order, which is absolutely unacceptable. I request you to try and ensure that the time of delivery is set only based on what they can actually commit to and it’s unprofessional to not be able to meet it. More often, it’s not only that one could be badly starving or is impatient to have the food delivered quick, but also that they probably have other commitments following that for which their time is not to be wasted waiting. Hence, I earnestly request you to ensure that your clientele take orders if only they can deliver them well within the stipulated time of delivery, for the customers always have other better options to go with if one cannot do so..Version: 14.3.8

Disgusting delivery serviceEach time they ask you to come on the road and take your delivery because they don’t have time to drop it at your door. The days of Zomato is overFirst time I ever rated an app but felt like i needed to here. Use to be an amazing app, showed locations of restaurants on map view, allowed you to check what was open around you and showed you which restaurants were good and bad with a user friendly interface. No longer can you search with a map, “open now” filter still shows closed restaurants and user interface is no longer user friendly. A huge shame. Hope the developers decide to actual improve the app instead of just moving buttons around, trying to be over complicated and taking away what made the app great in the first place, a simple app to find good food..Version: 14.2.9

I ordered food couple of time via Zomato and they call me later telling me the resold “closed” and hold your funds or the money you spent after days of the original order. Awful customer serviceThe food is good which is the restaurants responsibility, however, the app and coupons are very unreliable. Many times I'm about to check out and it tells me "the delivery for this restaurant is unavailable to your address". I called the restaurant and they are delivering so zomato has made the decision of now delivering the food. Super annoying. Additionally, my welcome coupon wasn't working and I reached out three times to see why that was happening. They got back to me after I had already ordered with the coupon just to tell me that "sorry, you've already place your order without using the coupon so you can't use it anymore". There are better apps like swiggy and uber eats that I'd recommend. On top of everything, zomato's customer service is horrendous. The staff is unknown and you can only chat with because there isn't a number to call. Two of the three times, the staff was incredibly unhelpful, rude and didn't care. Crappy service Getting worse by the dayI’ve been using zomato for over two years now as my sole food delivery service company. The service keeps getting worse by the day. This has gotten worse ever since the company went public. The past three times when I have ordered a simple meal from McDonald’s the drivers have had to wait to leave with my order as they were assigned multiple pickups/delivery… Needless to say my orders arrived cold and soggy. I called and was assured this wouldn’t happen again. Lo and behold again today the same issue. Numerous issues occur where Zomato blames the restaurant and I know this is not true, since I call the restaurants to check. If there is a slight drizzle of rain, zomato cancels the order blaming the restaurant, when in actuality the driver doesn’t show up. One time the delivery driver actually dropped my order of donuts and actually opened the donut box and rearranged them with his bare hands. Luckily my lobby guard saw him and got the incident on camera and informed me. Where is the Quality control division and customer service of Zomato. TaniaHello. Tonight I arrived to collect my phone order which had been packaged and was waiting. However, unfortunately this insolent young girl told me quite rudely that I had to wait. She then very slowly wrapped up another order and then called that customer totally ignoring me. I then asked another staff member if I could pay and run and the young girl started ranting about me not being able to wait for 5 minutes and that she was sick of customers being rude to her. Fortunately I was served by someone else as she continued to rant in an unprofessional manner. They forgot to include the fish so I rang and was greeted by her continuing to rant and then hanging up on me. On arrival at the store she continued with her unprofessional outburst. If she is concerned about customers not being lovely to her, all she needs to do is be nice and caring in the first place rather than coming across as not caring at all. Pro plus and pro subscription is a scamThey don’t give most of the things promised. Coupons and extra discounts are usually the same for everyone. Delivery time and delivery is same for everyone even though they promise priority or flat delivery to the paying customers. Their algorithm or software for delivery is very bad. I can order from a restaurant less than 1km from my house and the delivery goes out first to a location 8km+ from my location and then comes back to give me my food. And if I place an order first somewhere then the delivery makes all the deliveries on its way to me. Doesn’t make sense as the reason they give if you food doesn’t reach you is that someone else placed their order first, but if I place my order first they still send the delivery partner somewhere else. Scammers here to take your moneyAbsolute worst customer service. I placed an order, for a notification that the order has been placed and accepted, and about 20m later got a call that my order was rejected because the location pin I have on my app is not a deliverable address! I asked them why is it that they would accept the order if they do not deliver to the address and I was told that they don’t check the address when they accept the order and process payments. I then asked them why do they even have a field for delivery address when they only look at the pin location to deliver the order, and they didn’t have an answer. They processed my payment, and didn’t deliver my food, they rejected my order and said that they do not refund payments. So basically, you can place orders but after the payment is processed they have the option to reject your order and not refund you. Great SCAMMERS!.Version: 14.4.0

Less than very goodA recent update to this app removed the ability to rate locations with half-star graduations. This means ratings such as 3.5/5 of 4.5/5 are no longer possible. FrustratingExtremely frustrating. Hard to view broad-based results, such as “I’m looking for dinner but I don’t care where”, difficult to see the features of restaurants without scrolling far down (such as if they accept card or take bookings, the info is there but it’s not quick). You can filter these things BUT you’ve got to select a specific location and/or search term, which I think is annoying. Sometimes I just want to find a good restaurant, I don’t care where it is and I’ll travel to it. The biggest issue is the sign-up pop up’s EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I. OPEN. THE. APP. For god sake. This app has gone downhill, such a shameUsed to use this religiously, from when it was originally urbanspoon to then rebranding to zomato. The app used to be so great, filters were intuitive, you could search a location and every restaurant comes up. I loved using it locally and even when I would travel, as it just worked great. Now if I type a location (i.e a place that’s 60km from Melbourne CBD) I get 3-4 restaurants only showing in that location and then the rest of the list showed me CBD restaurants. Can’t believe this is what replaced urbanspoon years agoI gave this app a try when they took over for urban spoon years ago. I was unimpressed how they got rid of many of the features I used to decide where I wanted to eat, what was nearby etc. This app is prevalent in India, and many of the restaurants that don’t have websites only have their menu here. I was annoyed that I could not look at Zomato online, they made me download the app. So felt forced into using the app. Then tried to be objective on my thoughts about it. I didn’t see any features noteworthy over what I could find over just using a browser. Plus, you are kicked back to the home screen every time switching to another app. It all seems like a racket to get people to register. I will use it when the menu isn’t available anywhere else, but definitely do not recommend..Version: 13.1.8

Map removed?Is it just me or have you removed the map feature that allowed me to see the restaurants pinned on a map? That was the feature I used the most and I’ve just spent 10 minutes trying to figure out how to find it again. Sketchy-Beware!I was directed to this app from a google result for a local (Canada) restaurant. A page opened up with the restaurant’s location and menu, and said that orders can only be made through the app. However, the first image on the app download page says “india’s number one food delivery app”, which was incredibly suspicious. Bring back Urbanspoon!This app seems like it’s more concerned with being a food delivery app (like DoorDash in America)but in India, instead of what it used to be when it bought out Urbanspoon. Back in the Urbanspoon days, I loved this app because I could discover new restaurants in my area or when I was out of town. I especially loved favoriting all the places I wanted to try. I could read reviews and see the menu and photos of the food and atmosphere, but nowadays it seems like they are no longer updating reviews because everyone left this crappy app and you can’t even find new restaurants listed on here. Worthless app if you live in the USSeven months ago I added multiple restaurants they are still pending moderation. The developers could care less about this app. I am deleting it I am tired of it. They are better apps out there. I attempted to add multiple restaurants in June and not a single one is been added yet. If it wasn’t for the fact that I have lots of restaurants saved on here I would totally delete this app don’t waste your time if you’re new to it. I have sent several emails over the last month and I’ve not gotten a single response. I have added five restaurants but they still show as under review and have not been added. I wish Urbanspoon could come back. So I got a request supposedly from the developers to send my concerns to a different email address. I forwarded my email to that address and included my user name and so far they have done squat. They don’t care. First orderMade the first order which was suppose to be 50% off with the coupon. Selected the coupon and placard the order once i got charged it showed coupon didn’t get applied. Called customer support which didn’t know a single thing. Told me he can’t do anything about the coupon so I asked if I cancel the order will there be any charges or not. He couldn’t even tell me that. I was told he can only tell me that after canceling the order which makes no sense because y would I cancel the order only to reorder so I can get 50% coupon applied if I get charged the cancellation fee. Horrible experienceI am in the US and ordered Domino’s pizza for my old parents dinner in Chennai. The delivery guys just don’t search for the address. He called me coupe of times and I was in the middle of a meeting and could not answer. He went back to the restaurant. Then I spoke with him and gave directions. He assured he’ll deliver immediately. Then nothing for another 45 minutes and he would not answer my calls. So then I contacted customer service which you can do only on chat and they say they cannot talk on phone. Finally pizza was delivered 1:45 minutes after ordering. I missed my work and other meetings I had as I had to spend 45 minutes with customer service what should simply have been a 5 minutes call. App now ruinedZomato used to include the menu of each individual fast food place, even if it was part of a chain. This was incredibly useful, because each store has slightly different menus and prices. Now they have one generic menu for each chain, with no prices included. They are clearly in kahoots with these fast food chains in order to mislead you into spending more money than you need to. UX not the best but good choice of foodLots of good choice of restaurants available on the app so the business has been well thought through. App is generally functional and well designed. But can say that the UX is particularly good with this app. There’s no proper map feature to locate restaurants, track the delivery. Some features are very unintuitive and not easy to use for example adding/changing your address. The worst is that the web account doesn’t sync with the app so if you start your order on your laptop, you can’t complete it on your phone. But if they’re making money, customer inconvenience is a very low end priority I suppose. Especially in India where the customer is really not discerning with high standards..Version: 15.9.7

AwfulNot even worth 1 star. Two ordered is 2 days both messed up. In one instance I simply ordered ice cram from a place 5 minute walk away. I waited 80 minutes! Advertised free delivery, then charged delivery feeJust used Zomato for a pizza delivery. I used Zomato as they were advertising free delivery, but the Pizza Hut delivery driver would not hand over the pizza unless the delivery charge was paid! Zomato Support tried to blame it on Pizza Hut, saying their computer system was faulty. They said I could have the pizza if I paid the delivery fee and they would credit me back the delivery fee on the app. I told them that was not acceptable. Poor serviceI had very bad experience with zomato . I m so disappointed with your service. I ordered pizzas with zomato through la pinoz. Their customer is HorribleI ordered many times but last time ordered and the item I ordered was not given but instead switch to another product. I contacted Customer Care via the app and the Customer Service Rep said to me that I should just accept what I got. I said I don’t want it and he insisted and trie for emotionally blackmail me using the Covid crisis. He said there is nothing that can be done. I said I am asking for a refund only if the vendor can not provide the item requested and he can take the product he gave as I am allergic to what he gave. The CSR still insisted I accept what given and refuses to do anything else and he went on to stay that the vendor has the right to give any product instead of the requested if they do not have the product they have listed. I have screenshot the entire chat session. The point of the money is not the case it is the principal. How in the world can Zomato expect a consumer to just accept any product because their partner screwed up. It was disgusting to be in that chat. They surly have no Customer Service concept in the organization, assuming what the CSR stated is correct. They do not provide any refunds and they only take feedback. If that is the case then the company does not have any customer service. So at the end Zomato is not taking accountability and expect the customer to accept what they get so that their jobs becomes easier. Very Bad Customer CareYou don’t look into the root cause of the matter you just offer promo codes which is like insult over injury. the restaurant is not that far from my home in car takes 15 mins in bike will take max 10 mins. it was the fault of your delivery person who is loitering around instead of heading to pick up and then he instead of heading straight back was again loitering around. And you will not take any action against nor did you follow up on proactively when order was running late whereas me and my family on other were sitting around mobile following up on the order because we were hungry and more importantly my child was hungry. You caused a family dispute and I had to rush to get the food that was promised but never delivered because you put the onus of following the order on me instead of taking it up yourself. I had enough!I have used this app for a bit more than a year. I had a couple of issues but overall everything worked in the end simply because most of the times I contacted the restaurants directly. Today I got charged for extra avocado but it was not added to my tartine. I decided to use their chat support. I immediately got notified i got 0.67usd in Zomato credits. But when I asked if this is equivalent to the 2,000LP I got charged they replied that it is not and I got a “this is the best we can end from our end =)”. After I told them this was not ok, as clearly I can live without 2,000LP, but i am making a point not to be charged for what I didn’t receive and that they should return the exact amount that they charged for! I was informed that I was given 9usd in Zomato credits! I really don’t understand the logic and I am not happy with this money joking around. Since then, Khalas, I’m done using them.Version: 13.0.0

Terrible update - making a once great app more and more useless.I have been a uset for long, recommending zomato to many friends. But the recent update is absolutely terrible. I kind of got used to the interface change completely every couple of months - which is quite annoying for a regular user. But when the option to see close by places on a map disappeared, I wasn't pleased to say the least. Now I have to scroll through some useless collections and categories before I can even see the list of nearby places. And I can't even see distances to places on a list without checking directions?! Disappointing Service for Surprise OrdersZomato failed to meet expectations when it came to handling surprise orders. Order never arrived ruining the element of surprise and causing frustration. Thumps down for ZomatoI have been using Urban Spoon for many years, first on my PC then on my iPhone and iPad. I found Urban Spoon to have a very friendly user interface which only improved over the years. I especially liked the iPad app which had additional features on top of what was on the iPhone. Now there is just an iPhone app. The move to Zomato is taking a big leap backwards. It is not intuitive and lacks a lot of the features and functionality which we came to count on in Urbanspoon. To be honest my wife and I (Lily933) both put a lot of time and effort into rating restaurants over the years and made friends of with other users who also had a love for great food but with the change to Zomato I think this is the end of this road. There are now other restaurant rating apps which are friendlier to use..Version: 11.2.3

Fail fail fail, please bring back the Urban SpoonI stopped using this app when they killed the popular Urban Spoon app, I thought I would give it a look again and wow, what a disappointment. Why would I use this app at all? The features that were Urban Spoon are now totally gone. I could just use google or yelp which are way more updated, and this app no longer lets you search by cuisine unless you click 8 steps deep in filters? Fail. It just shows you restaurants nearby. What if the nearby restaurants are not what I am looking for? It has no more pick cuisine, price range and shake your phone and a cool vegas like slot machine would roll thru food possibilities with sounds and ratings. Yelp has easy cuisine slider with one click. For those who never knew Urban Spoon you are the lucky ones as you have no idea what you are missing as this app deleted it and replaced with an app not worth taking up space on my phone. Nothing to see here, keep moving along.. so sad.. I can't see what value this app brings to anything, it's purpose is irrelevant. The reviews here that are more than 1 star are either fake or have never heard of yelp. Bring back Urban Spoon and see which app users prefer or just continue to force people to login to this app after reading the bad reviews to see it is really that bad. Click, delete..Version: 11.2.3

Delivery and status system consistently failsApp is fine but Zomato’s delivery system consistently fails me. Nearly all my orders from Abu Dhabi WTC failed to get assigned a delivery driver. Each time I have to contact the support staff after 40-50 minutes and then they allocate a driver. Food will then arrive cold. Unfortunately there are no alternatives to Zomato since they tied up with Talabat. So nothing one can do, except order directly from the restaurant where possible. Zomato do offer refunds all the time, but their support staff annoyingly always assure that everything will be fine in 5 minutes, without really knowing..Version: 15.5.8
