Previously added in v6.19.2 of FiLMiC Pro:
NEW FEATURES
— Support for ProRes 4K 60fps
While the iPhone 13 pro series do not actually support true ProRes 60fps at 4K, it can be approximated by using a lower quality chroma subsample scheme (4:2:0 vs 4:2:2). We want to be upfront about how this is actually achieved, so the first time you select a frame rate in ProRes above 30fps, you’ll get an info alert with some information. But despite the inferior chrome subsample scheme required above 30fps in ProRes, we now deliver some eye-watering file sizes perfect for slow motion retiming in post.
— New Tone Mapping options:
Unfortunately you can’t turn it off, but you can switch between two types of tone mapping: Global Tone Mapping (GTM) and Local Tone Mapping (LTM). Tone Mapping is available under the Settings > Resolution panel. You’ll find it if you scroll down past your bitrate quality. GTM opportunistically lifts shadows and crompesses highlights to approximate higher dynamic range video. LTM works much like GTM, but instead of acting on the entire image, acts on local tiles or ‘pixel neighborhoods’ for more aggressive results.
— Support for Video HDR:
You can now enable Video HDR in FiLMiC Pro for enhanced dynamic range under some shooting conditions. We employ Apple’s multi-exposure image stacking technique to expand shadow detail and make highlights less susceptible to clipping. You’ll find Video HDR if you scroll down past your bitrate quality under Settings > Resolution. It is available in 8-bit and ProRes capture formats.
— Creator Survey:
Want to help shape the future of FiLMiC Pro and create an even better app? Then take our creator survey which is included in part of this release! A few minutes of your time will help to inform the future of the most powerful mobile cinema camera on a smartphone.
FEATURE ENHANCEMENTS
— Improvements to White Balance:
Now the white balance matrix panel and the white balance temperature values displayed in the lower left of the interface on wide aspect devices are correctly in sync. Custom white balance is correctly applied between launches now, and even saved and loaded from your custom presets.
— Improvements to Clip Selection Logic in Library
Now, after deleting selected clips, we automatically take you out of clip select mode.
— If you start a recording with your audio gain set to zero, we now alert you via a system alert that your clip will not contain audio. You can ignore and never be prompted again, or continue to be alerted if clips are without sound..
Version 6.19.127 April 2022v6.19.1 is a small maintenance release containing bug fixes and performance improvements. All of the following from our previous update remains:
— — —
v6.19.0 adds Log V3+ for ProRes 709 capture and full support for Frame.io Camera to Cloud (C2C) to the Cinematographer Kit*, making FiLMiC Pro the very first mobile cinema camera app to become a Frame.io C2C-compatible device!
Camera to Cloud by Frame.io is the fastest and easiest way to get footage from your camera to collaborators — anywhere in the world. Once logged in to your Frame.io account in FiLMiC Pro, after each recording you can generate a low-bandwidth proxy version of your clip and have it uploaded to the cloud. From there it becomes instantly available to your collaborators, wherever in the world they happen to be.
While you’re shooting on set, your editor — producer — colorist — or sound designer can be working with your clips in near real time!
— — Frame.io C2C Features — —
Configure C2C
— Log in to your Frame.io account under Settings > Frame.io.
— Choose your Account and a Project with C2C enabled.
— Select your Proxy Quality (720p ~1.5Mbps; 1080p LQ ~3Mbps; 1080p HQ ~10Mbps).
— Choose your Upload Method (Auto; Prompt; Off).
— Upload over WiFi only, or enable the ‘Cell Data Usage’ toggle to upload over 4G/5G cell connections.
— Now when you end a recording your clips will be automatically down-sampled and added to the Frame.io upload queue (Auto), or you will be prompted to create a proxy or skip adding your clip to the upload queue (Prompt).
— All Frame.io proxies use the signature purple color in your FiLMiC Library.
Frame.io Upload Queue
— Under the Library you can tap the Frame.io icon to view all clips in your upload queue.
— When in the Frame.io queue, you can pause/resume uploads; prioritize a selected clip and send it to the top of the queue; and remove clips from the queue if you no longer wish to upload them.
— You can also add clips to the Frame.io queue from the library at any point (ideal if waiting until the end of a shoot day to upload to C2C). Just select a clip that doesn’t already have a Frame.io proxy in the library; and tap the Frame.io + icon to generate a proxy and add it to the queue.
For a full overview of the Frame.io integration head over to our website for in-depth tutorials and C2C showcase videos.
*Cinematographer Kit is an optional in-app purchase. Camera to Cloud available on iPhone 11 and newer.
— — FiLMiC Pro New Features — —
— You can now shoot in ProRes LogV3+! The Cinematographer Kit optional in-app purchase now supports Flat+ and Log V3+ gamma curves to better facilitate workflows where color grading is a key component. When you select ProRes 709 these new gamma curves will be available to you.
— Swipe to progress through your clips in the full screen clip player! Now you can swipe to progress between your clips without having to exit the clip player. Great for quickly reviewing your shots full screen.

And if you’re yet to check out the awesome new DolbyVision film looks; cinematic stabilization modes; and UI improvements that we released in v.6.17.7, here is a recap:
— Film looks now support Dolby Vision! Stylistically enhance your 10 bit footage. Use any of our optional film looks along with Dolby Vision for an even more vibrant, finished product.
— Resolution settings panel usability changes. The resolution panel now more intuitively reflects the resolution and video format that is currently enabled with the quality selector right below this. Tap the resolution or video format buttons to display a selector which includes detailed information about each option.
— Stabilization settings panel usability changes. In addition to a slick new experience, Filmic adds support for Apple’s Cinematic+ image stabilization. This is the highest level of stabilization offered and provides for extremely smooth results. Warning, this level of stabilization introduces an extreme amount of preview lag so this feature will work best for shots that have already been blocked with focus and exposure set prior to capturing the shot.
— Hardware settings panel usability changes. The anamorphic, 35mm adapter and horizontal image flip options all have received new tri state selector toggles to more quickly identify and select the option you’re looking for.
