My First Words - Flashcards & Games for Positive User Reviews

PerfectionThe whole reason i got this is to make my own cards using my voice and my pictures for my son. I haven't even tried the other ones because I don't need to! I love being able to make familiar cards for my son!.Version: 4.1

Great for my 2 year oldGreat app! My 2 year old can't get enough of it. He has learned a lot from the flash cards. It's worth paying the extra $.99 for the other categories. Would recommend it to anyone.Version: 4.1

Fantastic. Love it.This is the first flashcard app that I like. I have a 22 month old & I'm trying to teach him to talk more. It helps that I can add pictures of my own and add my voice so he recognizes what's in the picture! 5 * thank you for this awesome app..Version: 4.1

Useful for children with communication difficultiesI use this app with my son who has Downs Syndrome. He loves the Flashcards. We have extensively changed and added to the set provided ( mainly because you Americans sound funny and can't spell ;-) ). Well done people. On next upgrade if you could add function to create multiple favourite folders thereby I could use the same card over several domains (eg strawberry in 'food' and 'red' categories) without having to re-enter the data. Cheers to everyone involved.Version: 4.1

Great! My tod loves it, specially the customise flash cards.Version: 4.1

It's worth the 99¢ for the full version!!I'm an early childhood teacher with a masters in the same. It's fantastically customizable, easy to use and you can even record the words they say in your own voice. My son has a slight speech delay (19 mos old) and we're using this every day, along with other Speech Therapist suggestions..Version: 4.1

Really great app!I love the categories... I imagine how helpful it would be for my kids to learn the words matched with the pictures. I especially love that you can customize by adding your own photos and record the name of your photo!.Version: 4.1

Fantastic for learningMy 18month old loves this app so much we have him asking for animals.. (Animal flash cards) Now that he knows most of them we turned the sound of so he can recall them without a prompt and we go to the next image once he guesses correctly. Recommended to all to promote learning, language and memory..Version: 4.1

Another great success! The company delivers a perfect strike on everything they make. My daughter isn't even two yet, but already counts to 20, figures out logic puzzles, and says over two hundred words with amazing clarity and points out things she knows everywhere we go. We've made dozens of our own flash cards for some of the other apps this company makes and she knows how to say nearly everything we've been able to take a picture of. These people have fantastic apps and best of all they're either free or $.99...we have no complaints and show them off to everyone one we know. If you got any of their apps for free be sure to take two seconds to give them a positive review. Thank you from a very proud and appreciative father! 😃.Version: 4.1

Great app for autism! If you have young child on the spectrum, especially if they have language delays, this app is great! I couldnt belive what my son knew! And i can see his progress in learning. Have actual pictures vs drawings is very important for kids who are learning PECS (picture exchange communication system). Good job! We ised it for a while, but i bought the upgrade just because it was worth it!!.Version: 4.1

GreatI love that you can record your own flash cards. It's brilliant for all those school sight word lists..Version: 4.1

Great!Wonderful app, using with my speech delayed toddler. He LOVES the pictures and we're already hearing new words!.Version: 4.1

Outstanding App!Great way to teach little ones their first words and I LOVE the option to create our own flash cards. I've used that option to teach her family members' names & holiday items!.Version: 4.1

The little one I watch LOVE itMy friend's little girl is about to be two. I've kept her a few times. When she sees my phone she starts saying "baby phone? Baby phone?" I know she is asking to play with this app on my phone. I love seeing her look at the pics and repeat every word..Version: 4.1

A+ on the images!I really appreciate that the images used on the 'flash cards' are actual photos rather than cartoon depictions. When cartoons are used in other apps, oftentimes their depictions are too far removed from reality to be educational or even decipherable..Version: 4.1

My 2 1/2 year old son loves this app!!I've tried several apps of flash cards for my toddler, but we both love this one. I love it bc I can customize the "my photos" section, where I can take pics of things or places and record my voice sounding out the word. This part became a game for us. As we see the item, he looks around the house for that item and laughs. He loves it bc not only is there pictures, but it talks to him. I can set it on a loop, so that he can't just keep clicking through without really hearing what it says or what's on that card. I totally recommend this app!!.Version: 4.1

Love itMy son loves the cards, he is 18 months and this has improved his language beyond belief.Version: 4.1

Great app for oral language developmentLove that you can customize this app to suit your family and child's needs and interests. Love the recording so that you can change the voice to your own so that it's not always American..Version: 4.1

ExcellentMy 3 year old son who has learning difficulties is enjoying this..Version: 4.1

Great for language therapy! What a great app! I love that I can have so many cards in one place, and that I can also use it for receptive language in the game mode. I haven't had any trouble with it crashing when I customize. I'm using an iPad 2. The only thing that would make it even more awesome from a school perspective is the ability to take data. Still, it's great!.Version: 4.1

Love thisMy daughter just turned one and she actually recognizes the things she eats or see around. I like this app and I'm sure she is going to learn a lot more. Oh and when she sees bananas she will say banana... Love it.Version: 4.1

Would like option to password protect leaving appMy 15 month old loves this and tries to repeat some words and gets excited about words she knows. She often will accidentally tap something that gets her out of the app and gets frustrated though. I would like a setting to password protect leaving the app..Version: 4.1

MsFantastic learning tool for babies and toddlers..Version: 4.1

Great! My 22 month old loves this app! Have added my own pics too and that part is great! Have just started playing with the "find this" sort of game option and she is lovin it!!.Version: 4.1

One Year OldI love this app for my toddler. I especially like the “My Photos” section that I can add pictures of our family on. I highly recommend this app for speech development..Version: 5.2

Great app even for tiny ones!I love that you can add your own pictures! My 12 week old grandson didn't enjoy extended tummy time but this app helped distract him from being unhappy. He's 19 months old now and amusing himself with this app on my iPad, saying words and the sounds each animal makes..Version: 4.1

My wishOnce I turned 3 years old, I loved to play this game!.Version: 5.2

ExcellentA fab app. My son has difficulty with speech. Being able to make your own flash cards is brilliant for encouraging communication..Version: 4.1

Nearly PerfectThis is such a helpful app for creating flash cards. When I try to customize a new list, however, it does not allow me to create a new photo from my existing photos, even though that option is available. I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong or if I’m missing something obvious, but I’ve not been able to use that function. But for a free app, it’s really quite amazing..Version: 5.2

AwesomeBest app ever for my 1 yr old!!.Version: 4.1

Fully customisableBrilliant, created my family, my house, my toys categories. Not planning on using too many of the in built flash cards but really pleased you can change the word and the recording to be the norm in your region!.Version: 4.1

Great for 2 year oldsI love this app for my 2 year old. It's a great way for her to learn. When she doesn't want to go to bed at night, we go through all the flash cards and it helps her to relax and she really enjoys going through them..Version: 4.1

HELP- 😭💅I was playing and I got the word STRIPPER AND THERE WAS A WOMAN IN A LINGIRE 💀💀💀💀.Version: 5.2

The best!My kids love this app!.Version: 5.2

Love how you can customize! The cards available are great, but what makes this app special is the ability to customize the pictures and sounds for each, and THEN create your own words, pictures and sounds. Definitely making the most of this app. Thank you!.Version: 4.1

Totally pleased with this app!I got this app for my 19 month old granddaughter & she absolutely loves...no...LOVES it!! It's so intuitive she can play it all by herself! The options in this app are amazing! We've made quite a few of our own customized flash cards...such fun! It makes my heart happy to see my GD's face light up when she sees familiar pics & hears our voices!! Great app!...don't hesitate to get it!.Version: 4.1

Great Educational App!I love that you can create your own flashcards with your own pictures and you can record your own voice. My 11 month old loves it & I know his vocabulary will increase because of this app. Will definitely recommend!!.Version: 4.1

Great speech appGreat app for my son with a speech problem. Really like that I can add my own flashcards. Will recommend this app to the speech paths..Version: 4.1

Great funI have great fun with my 16month old we both love this app.Version: 4.1

GoodThe only thing I didn't like was the American accent however, that was soon fixed. It takes a while to customise it but worth it..Version: 4.1

RameshThis is very fantastic game for child... I am Middle class Indian who is very careful in purchasing online but I used this trial product and found it is great... Only thing I would ask them is to give more items/objects... But u can argue option is given to u to add which is really great....Version: 4.1

Great flashcard app for babies & toddlers! Highly recommend! As some of the reviews have pointed out this app does have some flashcards locked, unless you pay some extra to unlock them. But the large majority of the cards are free, with great images, and the ability to record your own voice for each image. You can even create your own collection using images you have, so I created a fiends and family collection to teach my daughter people's names. Considering its free the features and quality it offers are great, and I'm not quite sure why someone would give it a bad review just because 2 or 3 of the flashcard cat agonies are locked when there are plenty that come free. Plus it only costs an extra $0.99 to unlock all the cards. Clearly a lot of work has gone into making this app, I would have paid for it anyway, so expecting to get the entire thing for free and giving a one star review is entirely unreasonable. I would highly recommend this to anyone with children learning to talk..Version: 4.1

I like itIt is the best one I have used.it help me to teach my son a lots.I use it to tech Chinese too. My son two years old,he can read over 1000 Chinese words and 500 English words now. It is the best way for teaching.thanks!.Version: 4.1

AwesomeVery simple. Easy for my baby to touch screen to change picture. Will be an excellent app for all ages with the ability to customize and options to learn or play. Love it!.Version: 4.1

AwesomeVery helpful and has bilingual use Just perfect.Version: 4.1

Great appLove customizing options.Version: 5.2

MrHardly ever rate apps but this one gets 5 stars. You can record your own voice and change the names on flash cards. Excellent..Version: 4.1

Make customize flash cardsWe had this app for a while but I really didn't use it until my son went to kindergarder. He loves it especially the customize flash cards and u can record. Awesome app. I'm starting my two year old on it now..Version: 4.1

AWESOME APPI am a school-based speech-language pathologist who absolutely LOVES using this app with my early language students. I have found the "My Photos" part of the app especially helpful, because I can have my students work on matching real objects to their corresponding pictures..Version: 5.2

Really good!Really good, best app I have found which helps children with their words. The words are said in American, would be nice if they had a feature so you could change it to the English accent however you can re-record your own voice onto the flash cards. You can also add your own pictures too, we have added pictures of family members and tv favourite characters. All helping towards clearer speech, would recommend it!.Version: 4.1

Nice work!I like it very much...it catches the child's attention and interest..Version: 4.1

Great app, easy to useLove the option of custom flash cards, endless options!! Perfect app.Version: 4.1

Fab app!My 18 month old LOVES this app. It's great that you can edit the cards a rerecord the voice so they are learning your words from your voice. Well worth the money!.Version: 4.1

Great appCustomize everything/anything you want -- Lacking feature: ability to add video clips.Version: 4.1

Pretty good if you're prepared to invest some timeI started writing a negative review of this and concluded with "if the publishers added the ability to change text and record voices, it would be perfect for many countries". Then I realised they had done. If you're in the US, little editing would be needed but for the UK a lot of editing iss needed. It uses US terminology (sippy cup, diaper, pacifier, stroller, ladybug), US spelling (pajamas), US voice ("boddle" instead of "bottle", "mosquido" instead of "mosquito"). And there are other issues, such as why "baby shoe" and "baby socks" instead of just "shoe" and "socks"? On a positive note, it does use proper words instead of baby words (dog rather than doggie, etc). If you're prepared to spend time editing text and recording your own voice (the latter would probably be worth doing anyway), then this is very useful. Actually, an alternative to recording your voice would be simply to play the cards without sound, which would save you a lot of time..Version: 4.1

TherapyI am a Speech-Language therapist so being able to present cards in a field of 1, 2, 3, or 4 is really helpful for teaching. Being able to add your own customized cards is fab too !.Version: 5.2

Great teaching toolLove this app! It keeps baby busy in the car while he learns with all these well chosen flashcards. I use Doman and Shichida methods to teach my baby to read along with other tools. This app is made according to almost the same principles set by these early learning gurus..Version: 4.1

GoodGood that you can customise the flash cards although this is a very long process. My 16 month old loves it!!.Version: 4.1

Love it!I was looking for something to use with my son, and I found it! I like that I can create my own file. Very cool..Version: 4.1

Excellent appBeing able to record your own voice is excellent. Also add your own pictures, love it :) Will recommend this to friends, perfect for toddlers (mine is 14 months).Version: 4.1

Love itLove this app... So does my 2 year old. Really easy to use. I wish you could edit the "well done, super" phrases on the games section. The ability to add you own words and pictures is an excellent idea.... Will be using this to teach English as a second language in school. Also useful for children with SEN or learning difficulties. Keep the updates coming!.Version: 4.1

Versatile, fun, I love itI love that you could change the language and rerecord the voice prompts. We speak a different language at home and now I have flashcards in my language to help me teach my 15 month old. I could upload my own pictures in place of the ones they have (if by chance I should want to but their pics are really good to begin with) and I especially love uploading pics into the people I know area. That way my son remembers family that lives far away. Great app!!!.Version: 4.1

Great appFantastic pictures and being able to record your own voice for each card is a great feature..Version: 4.1

Great but has some bugs.My (nearly) 2 yo LOVES this app! Especially the Baby category and the Mommy's Purse category. She also really likes the Food category BUT the pictures don't always match the words. It seems that there are missing pics including Spinach, Celery, Fruits, Grapes, and more!.Version: 4.1

Love it!I love this app! I got it for my 13 month old and tries the free app first. I created a "family" category and made pictures of everyone in the family and recorded their names. He loves that part alone! I'm going to pay for the upgrade for sure..Version: 4.1

Brilliant Educational GameMy 15 month old daughter absolutely loves this app! She has picked up so many words from it and points things out when we're out and about too. Brilliant and educational. Only thing is some words are American English..Version: 4.1

ExcellentIt is an excellent app. I like taut they have real pictures and not cartoons/animations. My 1 year old loved it who is now 2.5 and his now little bro loves it too. Love the music too. Well designed app best among many other options out there..Version: 4.1

AmazingThis app is truly amazing! A great tool for teaching young learners, as a supplement or even as a reward! The children love playing on this app, as it is intuitive as well as engaging, but the truly unique feature which separates it from the other apps, is its customization. Adding in personal touches like congratulating the child's name when they get tasks correct always get them smiling in amazement - a crucial factor in the learning process!.Version: 4.1

EducationalMy daughter loves it.Version: 4.1

Perfect for teaching babyGreat app to teach your children their first words. I wanted to buy flash cards but this app was all I needed. My daughter can use it all on her own and is only a year old..Version: 4.1

Simple customizable free!Great app, simple to use for both parent and child, love that the flash cards can be customized - I deleted junk food items from the food flash cards, and recorded my own Australian voice for the spoken words. That's a really important feature, as many apps do have American voice overs and Aussie kids are starting to develop American accents! I recommend this simple app for anyone wanting to develop word skills with their young child..Version: 4.1

Really great appMy 18mo old loves this app. Especially all the personal custom flash cards we made.Version: 5.2
