✓ Every twist and turn wants you to payI have no idea how effective this would have been, because even before I could see what the app had, I had to jump past not one. Not two. But FOUR different “JOIN NOW OR YOULL MISS THIS LIMITED TIME OFFER” screens. Which of course was never really a limited time offer. It’s a deceptive practice to tickle the FOMO nerve in our brains, which I think is extremely counterintuitive to the meditation, anxiety ridding, focus inspiring mission the app supposedly has. ✓ Marketing trickI love the app itself for the delta brain wave feature and went through the free trial period. Then I was contemplating to subscribe but the annual sub is over 50 dollars, kind of expensive, and couldn’t find the feature to just buy the sounds I wanted. Then I saw that they offer another 7 days for free so I clicked on it but this time it charged me an annual subscription. Now I have 1 year and 7 days of subscription. They offer cancellation but make it truly a headache. You have to go get approval through Apple then contact them. Blah blah. ✓ Terrible app from all aspectsFirst of all, I am never inclined to write a review, but I felt the need to since this app is so deceitful. There is no trial period, which would have been helpful because none of the sounds last more than 60 minutes. They automatically cut off at the end of the time no matter if you try to set a timer for a longer time frame. Short sessions are not helpful to me since I use them as a sound machine when I sleep. Also, I turned on the sound for relief of “anxiety” which lasts about 30 minutes. I fell asleep to it only to be awakened by a totally different higher pitched dinging at the end of the session, which ironically scared me out of a deep sleep… causing anxiety. I am inclined to report this app since I have no way of getting my money back and and because their advertising is deceitful. ✓ Charged twice and subscription doesn’t work at allAbsolutely terrible experience with this app. I activated a full annual subscription with 7 day trial and really liked the app so purchased the subscription the following day. Apple charged me twice, showing two active annual subscriptions. Apple refunded one subscription upon request, but then the app did not recognise that I still had an active paid annual subscription and none of the paid services were available to me. I tried logging in and out, restoring purchases, deleting and re-installing the app, but nothing worked. I really wanted to use the app so I cancelled the remaining subscription, waited for that to be confirmed and then deleted my account. The following day (today) I reinstalled and purchased another annual subscription. Same problem as before, none of the paid services are available to me even though my subscription prove I have an active annual subscription. Congratulations, you have turned someone who really supports the app and what you’re doing into a frustrated and disappointed customer. ✓ Scam - read before buyingI purchased Lucid dreaming. It did not work AT ALL. It was five screeching symphony melodies hastily thrown together. Full of sharp sounds making it essentially impossible to fall asleep. I listened for 45 minutes giving it my full effort. Normally I’d fall asleep just fine. After 45 minutes had a headache when it finally finished. That’s after lowering the volume from all the screeching noises. This entire app is a scam. The writer writes perfect convincing write ups, and every audio is utter garbage. They don’t let you fast forward or rewind. The reason they do that is so you cannot quickly find out it’s total garbage. You can’t test anything beforehand. I spent $7 which I intend to get back from apple. Consider my purchase the test for all you guys. Stay away. Especially from lucid dreaming. I would have a better chance falling asleep if I were falling out of an airplane. It would be so much better to be able to add the same item to a playlist multiple times so that you could fall asleep to it if you wanted to. You can control where the audio plays: meaning music can play on AirPlay while beats play from phone… or vice verse… or together. Also, there is no fancy distracting ‘musicy’ sounds… you control if it’s just beats or beast AND background noise. this app doesn’t let you skip forward on a track to listen to later sections. This is too expensive for what it is. There are others that do better. I mean the neuroeats in this app arnt strong enough. I like to set things up before I go to bed, and then if I wake up in the night, I don’t have to wake up too much to start using the app. It does not work well with this app. Often, the timer I set up is just gone, and sometimes the program I set up is under more ads. ✓ Sign up PracticesI haven’t listened to a single note yet so this may be as fantastically life changing as they claim, no idea. However, the very first screen I saw was a 2 min countdown to make a purchase for 80% off or it seemed you would have to pay considerably more if you didn’t make the purchase right then. Typically an app might give you some sort of trial period to decide if you like it and if so sign up. That seems like a perfectly fair and reasonable arrangement. Several people no doubt worked hard on this app and deserve payment for their efforts. If an app does what it claims and you are given some reasonable amount of time to determine that, I am happy to pay what is asked. This was more like a psychological ploy to convince someone spend money or there would be significant financial repercussions if they didn’t. Knowing all of that I made the purchase anyway and hope that I find it valuable. Assuming it delivers on its promise, I might suggest, whomever decided to use the “purchase or else” type of introduction, begin to use the app as well to help them become less of a money grabbing jackass. As you can see, I have some work to do myself. I tried very hard for several minutes to say something encouraging there, but found myself unable to do so. ✓ Generally pleased. But…I’ve had this app for a while and purchased multiple sessions. The quality of the sessions are good and pleasing to listen to. I hate giving it a 3 out of 5, but I have my reasons listed below. The one thing that has ALWAYS bothered me is the incessant advertising for new sessions or to “upgrade” EVERY TIME I run the app. Even when I did “upgrade” in the past, the number of ads that continued to be shown made it difficult to get the sessions I already had purchased. I get their desire to sell new sessions. But, having to walk through several screens only to discover they rearranged things again is irritating. My suggestions? Don’t pop up ads - especially if the user has paid content. Leave that for new users. Remember their settings when they say “not interested”. Make whatever ads you do display easier to dismiss (hiding the Close X is a PITA). I do not accept the developer response that this is merely a temporary timing issue between the App Store and the app itself. This is an ongoing issue at least three weeks running. I am no longer willing to pay very much for content apps like this since many of them will go out of support and no longer function after iOS updates.
