✓ Pity it changedLoved the metro but since the change I have problems some photos are blank. There are problems with loading puzzles and to finish it off one of the puzzle pages has locked up my screen, meaning I can no longer read the Metro until that particular addition is removed..Version: 4.0.2
✓ The colour scheme means I can’t do the puzzlesThe new update with its changes to the colour scheme means that lettering in the puzzles comes up as pale green and is completely unreadable on my screen. In the sudoku there are black areas which makes the lines invisible. Thanks; now I can’t enjoy doing the puzzles. I don’t suppose you thought of testing this on different phones first?.Version: 4.0.11
✓ OK, I guessCrashes a lot less often than it used to. Still painfully slow to load content. Needs some sort of garbage collection to keep from filling up your iPad's memory with old issues. There are a lot of better newspaper apps out there. Links to YouTube always crash this app. I don't even try to watch them anymore..Version: 1.6
✓ Honest ReviewI preferred the old version. Im not sure what this new version brings. I am not interested in live news / links. Part of the reason I enjoyed the previous version as it was “offline” and just felt better to view on mobile. Most people would probably use the app on the go commuting and as such the signal is normally bad (it is for me) therefore the links to videos etc never work. You have to re-download the edition each time which is frustrating. I.e I’ll read of the train in, then try and open on the tube but can’t as it requires a download and there is no signal!! I’m sure it will evolve and improve over time. We’ll see..Version: 4.0.6
✓ Doesn’t all downloadHey developers - download an edition of the paper then go into airplane mode. You’ll find after halfway any pictures are just grey boxes, and if you keep going it won’t update the pages and you will just get the loading symbol appearing. Very annoying when you’re travelling on the tube..Version: 4.0.2

✓ Used to be goodBefore the latest update I could open the app within seconds and it didn’t crash. Now I open it on my phone, the iPad or my wife’s phone and it takes ages. Also you need to sort the spell checker. I cannot spell but I do recognise incorrect words or double words. Also an article appeared twice, once as the first page and several swipes later..Version: 4.1.2
✓ Table Edition Ab-Fab? NOT!!!New interface very frustrating. Not easy to delete issues once read. And, bright red METRO simply hangs on the screen when the app opens. I am a longtime user and have to simply say goodbye for now - until you fix it..Version: 2.0
✓ Good content, terrible appI’ve always enjoyed reading the metro, but the app is beyond frustrating and has. Even for as long as I can remember. It constantly tries to re-download the same edition (even while already downloaded and reading on the train without signal) and frankly you could watch the entire Lord of Rings box sets quicker than it can open or use this app at times. ✓ Puzzle unreadable after introduction of dark modeThe dark mode is great for reading articles, but unfortunately not very good for doing the puzzles. The colours make some of the puzzles hard to do and the keyboard also difficult to use. Please can I have the option to turn dark mode off on the puzzles.Version: 4.0.11
✓ Preferred MetroI very much preferred the Metro before the recent change to one daily edition and ‘live’ with new format. The content appears to have gone more downmarket and there is excessive focus on soap operas/ reality tv. which are not ‘news’ . Also the single edition means only one puzzle section a day instead of two, and jigsaws are randomly not included. Not an improvement..Version: 4.0.13

✓ Terrible revampThis new look reminds me of Bing search engine, AOL home page or Mirror’s online edition (and no: that’s not a compliment!). Far too “busy”, you cant just browse through like the paper edition anymore..but have to select “articles”. No way that I can see of knowing when or where an article appeared in paper edition (like what was on front page of latest edition). Can’t find regular features, like readers’ comments. Videos I tried were not videos at all, but pictures with a soundtrack. And since when does Metro report on East Enders drama like it was actual news?.Version: 4.0.2

It is user-friendly and generally “does what it says on the tin”, except: 1) the “mailto links” default to ios mail instead of the user’s default email program; 2) over sensitivity when completing the crossword puzzle means one press of a letter can create that letter filling multiple squares.Version: 3.7.6
✓ GoodbyeI have an old iPad that I use for work it rattles around in my van inside it's Otterbox it has everything I need for work and still functions. Your new update is not designed for old tech and so it is goodbye to my tea-break catch-up of news and gossip. I know you'll say "you can still use the website" but alas I cannot because that doesn't function either. This update tells me a lot more about how little the Metro care about disposable tech. So goodbye and not farewell I hope you go bankrupt and your bleeding edge technology geeks become unemployed..Version: 3.6.1
✓ Used to be goodI thought Metro was good until this most recent change a subscription for the weekend puzzles? That is poor as there are 1000s of free puzzles online so why should we pay for them I flatly refuse to pay when other sites have them free. Even worse we lose a copy for the puzzle edition even though I’m not subscribing. That is totally wrong. Metro need to rethink that..Version: 3.6.1
✓ SpoiltI have always enjoyed the Metro originally on paper but then the app. The Metro app was as simple as flicking through the paper - missing nothing. Now it is a messy jumble of links and seems cluttered and to me at at least, hugely unappealing. I spend much less time on it now and come away disappointed and less well informed. It seems to want to compete with other “newspaper” apps but the fact that it stood apart was a major part of it’s appeal. I am also seeing a disturbing change in editorial policy where there is now clearly opinion where before there were refreshingly fact based articles well and concisely presented. I really miss the old presentation and style. It is a loss to journalism and public service. Please bring it back..Version: 4.0.2

✓ Metro London UK onlyWell my local Metro News app disappeared from the App Store, and the app no longer has any content- A search for Metro News revealed this app. The app is nice, but all the content appears to be related to London UK There’s no option to get my local or even country (Canada) news. ✓ New app is ok but where are the puzzlesI have enjoyed the Metro app for a long time, reading all the stories and finishing off with the puzzles. Where are they now? Can we only enjoy if we pay ? ✓ PuzzlesUpdate: would be nice when going through puzzles if one could scroll using left or right swipe on iPad. Yes there are forward and back arrows but these are slow to respond compared to the usual iPad actions. Thought it was fixed but the problem whereby if one leaves eg the crossword, to revisit later, the app sometimes reverts to live news and requires that the “edition” is re-opened followed by selecting menu -> puzzles and then crossword to continue - a pain. ✓ Keeps resizing crosswords!News always good. Loving the puzzles within this app except the top lines of the crossword puzzles on my iPhone 6 keep becoming inaccessible. I can see them by pulling the screen down but it springs back and I can’t fill them in. I’ve fixed this a couple of times by deleting the app and reinstalling, but why why why does this happen now? ✓ WHERE IS METRO TALK?!The talk letters page was missing for most of last week so I assumed they didn’t run it. Then the same happened yesterday. Yet I’m reading letters in talk today that refer to a letter published yesterday. SORT YOUR APP OUT because talk is really the only page I read and your stupid app keeps dropping it. ✓ SubscriptionHad a subscription for years. Inexplicably in July I received notification that my subscription had expired - credit card is in order. Tried to re-subscribe and it would appear Metro do not want my money! There is a problem/glitch with this app. I had deleted and reinstalled numerous times with no joy. ✓ Love it but there’s a current glitchI love the metro and read it and do the puzzles every day. However there’s currently a glitch. It will allow me to read a few pages then it freezes and I can’t move to the next page. I have to shut it down and then reopen it to be able to read another 3-4 pages before it does it again. ✓ New app awfulThe new app is horrible. Personally I don’t want the live news - there are plenty of other ways of keeping up to date. The new-look newspaper is horrible. Please give people the option to go back to the old style. Really hate this new look and see no benefit to it. ✓ I preferred the previous versionThis version of the app took me a bit of getting used to but I now see the differences between this and the old app which I used for several years. On my iPad the new app is noticeably more sluggish than the previous one possibly because there’s more to it. Sometimes when I click a link I’m unsure if my iPad is responding or not. It has also crashed a few times. There have been upgrades recently which gave me some hope, but the upgrades have made no improvement to the speed of response.
