LightSpectrum Pro for Negative User Reviews

Lightspectum proDoes not open on iPhone 6 IOS 8.1.Version: 2.1.2

Doesn't workThis app is really bad, I can't get it to to do anything! The screen become unresponsive!.Version: 1.0.0

Doesn't workMine is stuck in the same colour temp and won't connect with the camera. £1.99 headache..Version: 3.0.6

No longer worksThis was a brilliant app that I used on video shoots until I got my iPhone 5. Please update it to work for me then ill give you 5 stars again..Version: 1.3

Camera function not operationalCamera not working. Screen is solid blue color. Calibration screen solid white. Having to give one star to a non functioning app is wrong..Version: 1.0.0

Works on older devices but not iPhone 11 ProThe description really should say which devices this app works on. It doesn’t work on an iPhone 11 (the numbers don’t change at all), but it does work on an older iPhone 6s that I happen to still have..Version: 4.0.5

Needs work doneThe drop downs are sticky and don’t function. Another paid app that’s useless! No stars.Version: 4.0.4

Waste of money. Does not workComplete waste of Money. Do not download! It doesn't work on my phone 6s. App opens and has a red line through the camera as if it can't access it. Iv tried looking in my settings but cannot get it to work. Awful app.Version: 3.0.6

Don't botherSuitable for iPad3(new) apparently. Paid for loaded and doesn't work. Doesn't open camera. Waste of money don't buy it..Version: 1.3

Changed my reviewThe last update allows the app to finally work on my iPhone 5. I can't believe it took as long as it did for an update. The readings are not 100 accurate but it's enough to get you in the ballpark for tweaking later... Which is ok. I wish you could set it for florescent to get better readings for that. Sadly, this is the only app (for now) that tries to offer reading color temp of a room in kelvin degrees, so there's not many options to compare it with. Again, be careful trying to read in florescent and incandescent ... But other than that, it's worth a few bucks. ...as long as the iPhone 6 doesn't come out and we have to wait another year for this to work..Version: 1.4

Update not workingIPhone 5s each time I touch the bottom row of icons it shuts down. No good now!!!.Version: 3.0.2

CrashesWill not open. Installed, deleted and reinstalled many times. Does not work!.Version: 1.4.1

Inoperable iPhone 5 iOS 6.0This app is Inoperable on iPhone 5 running iOS 6.0. While it does load and some of the button produce a response, it is unable to access the camera and does not return any color temperature value. After reading other reviews, it seems possible that LightSprectrum does function on some iPhone models running older iOS versions. However, no warning is made in the store description regarding hardware or OS software limitations - so it's being misrepresented as a universal app compatible with all hardware and iOS versions. In addition, the developer Website link provided by the Store is broken. I have filed a complaint and asked for a refund. Caveat emptor!.Version: 1.3

PoorWorking as a Cameraman myself for many years I have a fairly good understanding of colour temperatures. This app is wrong, even when outside in daylight it still gives a reading you would find from tungsten lighting. even when you go through the different presets it never matches. very poor app and absolutely shocking that it has a price tag on it too. #RIPOFF.Version: 2.1

Confusing....I found this to be confusing and next to useless. too many settings that are not explained as well as. the results were inconsistent. Sorry :(.Version: 2.2.1

Light Spectrum AppTotal Fail, does not even load on my iPad 2. Refund please. This is not even a lemon!.Version: 2.1

Think I have wasted my moneyApp shows the exact same colour temperature no matter where is. Inside or out. Tungsten, fluorescent, halogen, LED.Version: 4.0.5

Camera issues on iPhone X!!There’s a serious camera issue when opening up the app on the iPhone X on iOS 11.4.1. Video/picture feed is super fuzzy and not sharp at all! Update: AUG 2020, 2 years later and the camera issue has NOT been fixed!! I’m now on an iPhone 11 Pro Max running iOS 13.6. This app is still having issues focusing both the rear and front facing cameras! Anything in front of it still remains unfocused!! There is still no tap to focus option! What a disappointment and waste of money!!.Version: 4.1.0

Non functioning app on iPhone 5Not great! Pull your app if cannot be fixed!.Version: 1.3

Great idea... But it doesn't really workThis is a terrific idea. I wanted to use it to think through conversion from incandescent to LED lighting to choose the right color temperature lamps. But the app pretty consistently over estimates the color temperature by a wide margin and it crashes too frequently to be useful. Bid really like my $1.99 back..Version: 1.4.1

Very misleadingThis app claims to show you a spectrum of the light it is observing. This is impossible since each IPhone pixel can only measure the relative strengths of the red, blue and green light entering the camera. This makes suspicious of every bit of data the app displays.Version: 4.2.1

ScamThis app is a scam..Version: 1.2

Money Back pleaseThis app does not work, gives sane reading what ever the light source ! You should not be charging for an ad pp that doesn’t work.. Rip off…...Version: 4.3.0

Did not open cameraDid not work at all. Just shows a picture of no camera and app settings / camera settings will not allow access to camera. This is on my iPhone 6..Version: 3.0.6

A useless toy for $2Application does function on iOS6 - no problem with that. However it's a useless toy. Readings are so far from reality and so inaccurate. you measure same buld 3 times and it gives you 3 readings: 2900K, 3800K and 6200K. Bottom line: this app is waste of time and money. Do not recommend..Version: 1.3

Does not work on my 6plusAll I am getting is a black screen.Version: 2.1.2

I should have read thisYep, agree with other reviews. App does not fit iPhone 6+. Interface also pretty clunky. Can't buttons to return from documentation. Or maybe just hidden in the bit I can't see. Shame..Version: 2.2.1

UselessTotally useless. Seems like it is just generating a random number. Totally inaccurate when compared against a known source. Written in very poor English the in-app help is of no use and references buttons on the screen that don't exist in the current version. Waste of time..Version: 2.3.1

Random number generatorThis is a useless app. Don't buy it. It is nothing more than a random number generator..Version: 1.3

ScamApp does not measure spectrum. iPhone does not have spectral sensor. I compared this apps readings to Sekonic C7000 spectrometer and a Photo Research PR670 ($20,000 instrument). This app’s readings are completely wrong..Version: 4.2.1

WorthlessI had to give this a star to make the review post, but it's not even worth that. Completely useless. No matter what light source, always reads 2300 to 2800, completely inaccurate and a total waste of $1.99..Version: 2.1

What a waste of money.Does not even turn on camera with iPhone 5. Buttons beep and that is it. Guess you can say I just gave 2 bucks to a bad developer. Apple you need to police the store better for these rouge apps. Very disappointed with this one. DON'T BUY. A WASTE OF MONEY..Version: 1.3

RubbishDoesn't work on new iPad - poor help instructions and spelling errors - really amateur. How do you give it no stars? Don't waste your money. Too many poor apps like this now and how do you get your money back?.Version: 1.3

UselessShows overcast daylight as 2800K. I know it is 6000K, and my PDW700 agrees with me. Same price as two Mars bars so who cares. I deleted it..Version: 2.3.1

Not fully functionalSeems pretty accurate for colour balance, and for that reason deserves three stars. However, some of the drop down icons don’t work - not great for a paid app, but it’s pretty cheap. Overall, really useful, but comes with glitches..Version: 4.0.4

No good.Basic spelling mistakes, such as 'mesure' 'neasure' and 'cancell'. Gives only two Kelvin temperatures, whatever the source, even with both lenses covered. No photos or graphs. Waste of money..Version: 3.0.6

Doesn't work hereThere is a bit of difference in readings from various light sources but it read an old skool incandescent in a white room at 5000k and a supposed warm white cfl at 5500k - not even close. This is on an iPhone 4 if it makes any difference. Putting one star so it doesn't show as unevaluated, maybe more people will read comments before buying... unlike me lol..Version: 1.0.0

Doesn't open on my 5SApp doesn't open on my 5S.... Just a black screen. I guess it's accurate in the dark. Developer says there's a fix coming in November, but WHY is this app for sale when it's unusable for many users??.Version: 1.4.1

Not working on I Phone XDoes not work using back camera on I Phone X. Reading stays the same regardless of light source. Front camera does seem to at least give different readings but is hard to use if you want to take a reading and see the results..Version: 4.0.3

Well it sorta worksI love as able to show the difference between an LED and incandescent bulb while dimmed, but in genial the UI is broken for the 6+ and I can't seemed to use advanced functions. can't switch between photos, maybe the button hides on the 6+.Version: 2.2.1

Program s..ksThe description claims it performs yet most reviews tell the truth, it's bogus at least for IP5. I sent an email last November and had a reply that they were working on update fix. Don't waste your $$ until the reviews start to turn positive. I took a chance after reading some reviews that were 3-5 in spite of the overwhelming negative reviews..Version: 1.3

Worst app I've ever wasted my $ on!!Complete rip off. Not only doesn't this app work, but the app support button tells me that their website does not work either. Guess the guy that designed my app must have built their website. Where is Mr. Cook's head these days...clearly he's not looking after Apple and it's products or reputation!! How can Apple allow a non-functioning app with a non-existent support structure to remain in the App Store. Shame on Apple!!.Version: 1.3

Good for the priceI think some of the reviewers of this product don’t know what color temperature is. It has nothing to do with brightness. The reviewer who suggested measuring the light reflected off a piece of white paper is giving great advice. If you do that, the app seems reasonably accurate when measuring light above 2700K. It is NOT accurate below that color temperature. It thinks an amber light is still 2700K. For the price, I think it is worth 3 stars. Disclaimers: I did not compare measurements against a professional meter, and I’m using an iPhone 7..Version: 4.0.2

Does not workI saw this working on a friends IPhone 6 and was impressed. He has Ver 3.0.1. I downloaded latest Ver 3.0.2 on my IPhone 6. It will not work at all. It is stuck on the opening screen. I cannot locate "tiny bar" some have suggested swiping..Version: 3.0.2

Not quite working (yet)This doesn't really work yet (no matter how I calibrate it it reads indoor household lighting at around 5000k) but I've given it three stars because I think its a good idea and I'd like to encourage the developer to continue working on it. If updated this could become a useful app to photographers and cinematographers..Version: 1.0.0

Requires correction and extra workSadly this app failed to allocate the correct colour temperature on every run, there was not enough infomraion on how to calibrate or use correctly therefore still not certain about the way we ended up using it, once a good working version is out I wool revise my scoring however in the meantime it's a 1 from me..Version: 1.0.0

UserI do commercial photography and thought an affordable color temperature meter would be a good idea. This one is real disappointing, with a puzzling interface, useless Info button, and plenty of typos or spelling mistakes in what tries to pass for a user guide. I'm not sure how to get a simple color temperature reading. All I want to do is point it at a light source and get a reading. I don't know why I need to choose a light source (the whole point of this should be to get a color temperature), don't know what they mean by "light mode" and don't want to have Google translate their web site into English. I know, it's only a couple of bucks, but still I'd like a refund in return for the hour or so that I wasted on this nearly worthless app..Version: 2.3.1

GARBAGE - DON'T BUYNot sure why I let my self get suckered by this. Not sure why I thought it would work anyway. Best of all the "developer" even forgot to spell check all the text in the interface. he or she and APPLE laughing all the way to the bank BUYER BEWARE!!!! SCAM!!!!!!!!!! One star rating is a negative star.Version: 1.0.0

Black screen no app!I'm using an iPhone 6, all this app gives me is a black-blank screen!.Version: 2.1.2

Not goodGreat idea but this app was released way too soon. It is wildly inaccurate and doesn't ever give consistent reading. At least if they were consistent, you could calculate the difference. At this point, this app is a complete waste of money. Hopefully they will continue to improve it..Version: 1.4.1

Does not work on iPhone5Confirmed other reviews. It would be good if the developer could either (a) update the app or (b) make clear in the app info that iPhone 5 is not currently supported. Thanks..Version: 1.3

Nice tryDoesn't work properly, won't calibrate to a known colour temp. Nice try but no cigar......Version: 1.2

Complex, no instructions, not accuratePerhaps this app does work and no one can figure out how to make it work? The interface is illogical and very complex with in-app instructions or on the developer website. Based on what I can do with the app it doesn’t work, if I point it at a 6500K calibrated light source it reads very different values and is entirely inconsistent..Version: 2.2.1

Needlessly ComplicatedThis app reminds me of carbon dating rocks. Geologists need to know how far down you obtained the rock b4 they will date it. So this app asks you to fist tell what light source u r reading from and if u get that wrong your results r way off. This fact alone makes it pretty much useless to me- want my $back!.Version: 2.1.2

Refund pleaseThe screen is not optimised for the iPhone 6 with OSX. Right hand side missing. Please fix or refund..Version: 2.2.1

Why did I buy this!?I don't know why I didn't read the reviews! Does not function at all. In your next update you should make this app show a funny picture or something so I won't feel so bad about wasting my money!.Version: 1.3

Doesn't fit on my screenI have an iPhone 6 and the app is too large for my screen! It cuts off on the right hand side, so I lose some of the icons at the bottom. Pity, as it looks like a great app..Version: 2.2.1

Needs a target on the screen to only measure that pointThis app needs to have crosshairs or circle at a point on the screen, to only take measurements. General averages of the picture isn’t a great feature. Spot metering will make this app awesome!.Version: 4.3.0

Not workingNot working on new iPad 3 even if they say that it is compatible with iPad! Disaponited that I ve paid for this ,.Version: 1.3

Complete rubbishI have a calibrated tuneable light at work that I know has a range of 2700-6000K and the app just reads 5000-5100k for the whole range. Doesn’t work at all.Version: 4.0.2

Update needed ASAPHasn't worked since I downloaded it, is it not iPhone 5 compatible?! Very disappointed, no stars on iPhone 5!.Version: 1.3

BADChecked CCT against our Pro Lab equipment. NOT EVEN CLOSE. out by more than 1000K..Version: 3.2.0

Over takes my iPhoneWhatever the programming is doing is bad. It takes over the iPhone. I can’t even exit the program, buttons don’t response..Version: 4.3.0

Entirely inaccurateI bought this app with high hopes, but was prepared for some inaccuracies. That being said, I can’t any consistent or accurate readings. I am using a light source that I can control the colour temperature of, in a controlled environment, and comparing with readings from other meters / software. I feel this could be easily solved with some sort of calibration function, which I can not seem to find..Version: 4.0.5

It is not a lemon, but the software is!This app actually does work, it did nothing until I changed to IOS10, then the first time I used the app it asked to use the camera (this was a first for me!). Once it sees the camera THEN it works. This app is NOT A TOTAL LEMON. But someone is for releasing a version that does not attempt to use the camera unless it is running on ios10. I shall try it out on a few shoots then review it's functionality... Just to reiterate it DOES WORK, but not till it's running on IOS10..Version: 3.0.2

What is this good for?I was hoping for sources to display as a color temperature reading somewhere in the actual range. Grey cards, bulbs, paper, under daylight shade, or incandescents, or 4100k fluorescents, all show figures I know to be hundreds or thousands of degrees off. It may be that you can set a range to read within, but how useful is it to point at a 6500k source and be shown a 2681k reading?.Version: 2.1

Absolute crapThe interface doesn't fit on my 6s so I can't even begin to try to figure it out. Waste of money..Version: 2.3.0

Needs fixingScreen doesn't fit on iPhone 6+. App would be 5* if this bug was fixed. Please sort it out and you will have a great little app..Version: 2.2.1

FailDoes not work at all on my iPad 3 iOS6. Would appreciate my money back but support is a dead link. Avoid..Version: 1.3

Doesn't work on iPhone 5Doesn't do anything. Waste of money... Needs to be fixed.Version: 1.3

Does what it advertisies, I thinkThe user interface of this app does not have the options that are pictured in this App Store. I have an iPhone 6S on iOS10. Starting the app results in one window which apparently shows the color temp as well as what I'm assuming is Hue, Saturation and Luma values. There are NO options on my version of this app, you get what's loaded. Also, the developer website is in Italian and I've contacted the developer and have yet to hear a reply. So far, it's not worth the $2 but I guess it shows me color temp which is what I wanted..Version: 3.0.4

Terrible! Doesn't workFix this! Wasted my money because I didn't read the other reviews :(.Version: 1.3
