What Hi-Fi? for Negative User Reviews

Doesn't work for meJust crashes so not even a chance to download anything!.Version: 2.5.8

No way JosèI totally agree with the previous folks. Your pricing is way too high. In this digital age, comparisons to competitions are only a few clicks away. There is no manufacturing & distribution costs involved. So why so high a price? I've got digital subs with several mags & willing to pay no problem. As a potential customer, I suggest you guys revise your position on this. This isn't your finest hour guys. Very disappointing :(.Version: 2.5.8

Rip offI buy the paperback. At least it's easier to read. This online version should be free..Version: 2.5.8

Needs retina updateSubscribed for 3 months, but needs a retina update to be readable on an iPad 3..Version: 2.4.3

KEEP WELL AWAY FROM THIS APP!Worst app I have ever had the misfortune of installing on my iPad. Unable to log in after 3 months of subscribing. Contacted customer support, got answers to questions I never asked, got lied to on the telephone from customer support, and also, the odd email I get from them repeatedly asks me to describe the problem I’m having. You really are a complete useless bunch of retards at magazines direct! Contacted credit card with relevant information as I’m paying for a service that isn’t being provided, so want my money back. Just look at the more recent reviews of this app, (something I wish I had done before subscribing.) KEEP WELL AWAY FROM THIS APP!.Version: 6.0.16

Magazine won't downloadJust purchased the latest magazine but it fails to download. Waste of time..Version: 3.3.0

Latest issue does not show in the storeDespite announcement on website of the new August issue available, 4 days later it is still not on the App Store.Version: 4.0

Good but too costlyThe interactive replication of the paper mag is well done but like others have said - the subscription cost is far too high. I would consider paying less than £25 a year though..Version: 2.5.4

Bad to viewI love the magazine and respect their opinions and have just spent thousands based on them and been very satisfied with their advice. However the app reads very badly with a section of the screen blank. Very annoying, not a comfortable read. Only good for reference purposes..Version: 3.6.1

ExpensiveToo much to pay for a non-interactive Mag. Will not subscribe till price is set at a reasonable amount.. When you see quality editions like T3 that put extra effort into production, a PDF style presentation will not cut it ....Version: 2.5.4

Read the What Car magazine reviewsWould you trust this developer after reading the What Car reviews?.Version: 2.5.8

It appears to be a Naim fanclubI have the paper version of this each month. If it is Naim, then it gets a good review. There is a lot more out there. Very selective..Version: 2.5.8

LazyThis is a really half-hearted box-ticking exercise. I can’t get it to load the September version I’ve subscribed to. Being able to read a magazine is hardly high tech. Lame..Version: 4.0

Good mag, app quality poorAfter a very long wait, disappointing release. Retina update needed and take a look a T3 guys-that's how you utilise technology.Version: 2.5.1

MisleadingWhy say its free and then charge to actually see anything. It's not free! Can't read the text anyway! Stick to real magazines.Version: 2.5.1

Update is badI bought the latest and they no longer have a full list and comparison just their top 5. Won't be buying again..Version: 3.6.1

UselessPaid for it installed and can't access it. At least when you pay for the magazine you get it in your hand. This is just letting iPad users pay for you to play with digital magazines until you get it right. In future I'll just flick through it in Tesco..Version: 2.5.8

CRAP WASTE OF TIME ITS NOT FREEIt not free at all have to pay alot of money to bloody purchase copies of it!!!!!!!! Waste of time.Version: 2.5.1

August 2018Been on the newsagents shelves for over a week, but still not available in the App?.Version: 4.0

WAY TOO EXPENSIVEAs above. And due to the above you must be making money on this - update for iPhone 5!! Jeez.....Version: 2.5.8

Doesn’t workI subscribed to three month digital version through a magazine site. and four days later, despite opening account and several phone calls, I am still unable to access the magazine..Version: 4.1

Is this a joke?Extremely disappointed. Love the mag, cannot believe it is so expensive for digi version. Look elsewhere..Version: 2.5.8

What Hi Fi S & V Subscriber for 10+ YearsSearch wireless headphones? No results?? Really? OK maybe glitch. So tried headphones? No results… Again? I'm pretty sure the magazine has had numerous reviews & features on the very rare headphones and the endangered version "wireless headphones". Come on WHFSV. Is this best you can do? Deleted. Back to the www….Version: 4.0

Ridiculously expensive£3.99 for each electronic copy !!! Are you real Instantly deleted !!.Version: 2.5.4

Not up to dateA very poor and confused app. Worst magazine app I have used. You send me an Email that there is s new issue but it does not appear on your app. Keeps removing my library, keeps defaulting to subscribe and won’t let me get back to library. So there’s 3 strikes. I recommend your IT guy does not take up baseball..Version: 5.5.5

RubbishIt says free but you have to pay before you get any issues..Version: 2.5.4

App is broken 😕Following the recent update, it is not possible to view any of the editions I have paid for. There is no option to restore purchases. Basically it’s useless. Will now be unsubscribing from the digital edition..Version: 5.5.5

Good mag but HOW much????£4 per mag, same as the printed version, even though the cost of hosting it on a server must be a tiny fraction of the cost of printing and distributing the physical magazine. Haymarket are having a laugh..Version: 3.1.6

Very lazy iPad EditionI now only read magazines on the iPad and generally am impressed with the features of the various iPad editions of magazines like focus, stuff and the like. I have to say this magazine strikes me as simply lazy - essentially just a PDF of the print magazine; in this edition they even managed to screw up the page orientation. I really expect more for this price!.Version: 2.5.4

DisappointingOnce installed I then had great difficulty downloading the latest edition. Although my iPad was a little full (only 3GB free), I deleted about 1GB worth of photos and tried again. This time it worked but the available free space only decreased by 0.2GB. I've no idea what was going on. Why it made me create a login I don't know, and it also asks for your age! You could lie I suppose! With the mag visible at last I found that the text was not large enough for me to read comfortably (following a double-tap). I suffer from mild dry AMD (look it up!) and have found that a high res display makes it much easier. However, this app doesn't make use of the retina display and so was very fuzzy. I also couldn't zoom in any more without letting go as it just pinged back. You should be able to resize to any desired size and leave it there. As it is a pdf, text should then still be pin sharp but it isn't. It is just an unpleasant blur. As for the content itself, it's excellent as always. There are lots daft comments here on it being vastly overpriced as if the only cost of a mag is the printing and distribution! Do these people not realise that there is a whole team who work on these mags, not to mention computers etc. They can hardly give it away free!! However, due to the poor quality of the app itself I certainly won't take out a sub until they have improved it to the point where it matches the other mags I download..Version: 2.5.8

Very DisappointedBought one issue to try out the app and the two page magazine only fills 2/3 of my iPad Pro display, making it hard to read the text. Double tapping to zoom produces a zoom window 1/2 the size of the display requiring constant panning to read the text and, to cap it all, the app won't scroll past page 99! Thank goodness I didn't purchase a subscription..Version: 4.0

Useless upgradeAfter updating app all previous titles purchased have disappeared with no option to restore. Please fix!.Version: 5.5.5

Too expensive!£35! are you having a laugh. You guys need to check the competition, a 12month sub should £25 max!.Version: 2.5.8

Won’t even download a single editionJust installed on the iPad and spent an hour attempting to unsuccessfully download the latest edition. Meanwhile other comparable magazines don’t have their own app and work just fine in Apple News..Version: 7.1.1

What about subscribers!!!!!I've subscribed to the paper version of this magazine for years now, so why don't the publishers make the electronic version free to subscription members like most others do? They've sat on the fence, twiddling their thumbs for long enough. Do the decent thing and make it free to the magazines subscription members NOW!!!.Version: 2.5.8

Beware if you subscribe....Subscribed to both the print & digital editions. Cancelled my subscription after 2 years. Worked really well for me and found it easy to read. Having paid for the digital edition I expected to still be able to access previous issues after cancelling my subscription to future issues. You lose all access so be aware of this before subscribing..Version: 4.1

Free or Pay or BothFirst I have no problems paying for downloads from What HiFi, however the price for 1 issue of £3.99 is over priced. It would be far better to allow us to view a section of the magazine first ! before paying out ??? Also why can't What HiFi offer Free downloads for issues over 12 months old. At the end of the day old issues should be Free then maybe people would consider paying for new issues. Come on What HiFi digital downloads should not cost £3.99 in this day and age..Version: 2.5.4

Text nearly unreadableHow did a magazine with "Vision" in their name approve an app with such poor text quality? It certainly needs a retina update before I purchase any further issues but the quality is far worse than even the previous versions of the iPad were capable of. Hopefully I can update my review once we get the retina version it should've been. For now, I've going to have to buy the paper edition of a magazine I've already paid for..Version: 2.4.3

Awful updateAs with other users, I can’t see any previous editions I have paid for and I can’t even use my account to log in to see new additions..Version: 5.5.5

New appNot working for me, can not see old mags or download new ones without paying when I already have a subscription, emailed support but no reply..Version: 5.5.5

Almost unreadable textOther reviewers are right about the poor readability of the text. Needs an update..Version: 2.4.3

Poor rendering of news articles (free)Frequently can’t get to the end of reading an article as it doesn’t render (blank area in news article) … think it may be related to all the adverts it’s trying to display! Have latest iPhone pro..Version: 7.0.12

Reviews written by the deaf and hard of hearingAll gloss and no substance whatsoever, it's a shame because What HiFi used to be quite good..Version: 3.1.4

A PDF of the magazine. Hard to read so not worth the money.A PDF of the magazine. Hard to read so not worth the money. The only negative report I have given. I want a refund..Version: 2.5.4

Yes, too expensiveWhile I think that someone else's suggestion of 8 quid is too low, you have priced it way too high. Downloaded the app to have a look and deleted it again. I would pay 24 quid. 35 is too high. When you have a lot of subs, costs start to stack up. People aren't just subscribing to your mag..Version: 2.5.8

What an excuse for Hifi!Absolutely terrible, I can't believe I took a leap of faith and paid $5.99+tax for that! They don't know the best brands or models at all, they endorse some of the worst audio equipment I've ever seen, the reviews are biased, and the experiments are poorly and inconsistently executed. Honestly, They don't even post important tech specs, such as total harmonic distortion (THD): this is because they know the specs are not as good as they should be and one can take the time to search for something much better. I admit I'm a little biased as to what the definition of "hifi" audio is since the brands I deal with range in the thousands of dollars for single pieces of equipment, and yes to a true audio engineer it's worth it: the distortion, power, and sonic clarity of genuinely wonderful equipment is unbelievable. The distortion on the magazine's listed equipment is too high to post, and is actually quite audible, and not in the way that guitarists and tube-amp-lovers like, but in the tv or radio static sort of way. Look up brands like McIntosh, Pass Labs, Wilson Audio, Krell, and Mark Levinson if you want to see what good companies are like. Price doesn't effect quality, but one should expect them to coincide. Some of the world's most luxurious speakers are millions of dollars. However, the world's most lifelike "live-sound" speakers are Wilson Audio's "Alexandria XLF" at $200,000/pair weighing nearly 594.2 kg or 1310 lbs (non-metric). Again, cost does not reflect quality!.Version: 2.5.8

Apple app broken againYet again, the app has been updated and it breaks my subscription. Will not allow me to restore my subscription as the restore subscription button is over lapped by the privacy policy ??.Version: 4.1

Does Nothing But CRASH!!!!!I'm a subscriber! I agree with others though the cost is TOO high and I am reconsidering my subscription... As for the latest 'Bug Fix Update' mine does nothing but CRASH now! Please sort this ASAP!.Version: 2.5.8

Misleading much...The app is free which is good but when you go to read the mag u need a subscription which Is like a £10 :( very misleading. I would have given 0 stars.Version: 2.5.1
