SuggestionsI initially input full documents of many songs as individual songs, and that freaked it out so it shut down a lot. I'm now going thru the long process of inputting each of those songs individually, hoping that will make it shut down less frequently. So far I have two things that really annoy me: 1) When it decides a song is in a key different than it is, so the chords you see in edit mode are not the same chords you see when looking at the song. This drives me crazy. 1.5) It would be great to be able to split a song into multiple keys and not have it auto-change the chords. 2) It would be SO helpful to be able to insert photos similar to sticky notes. I am a visual learner and write notations to indicate the melody or my own shorthand for riffs/strumming patterns. I would love to be able to insert photos into the songs in order to have this important information all in one place. I haven't used the app much because it's been months of me inputting all my music the way I want it, and still relying on my paper music instead. I'll update this review in another few months when I finally have everything in and have switched to only using my iPad..Version: 1.99999

GarbageThis app is over the top garbage!!.Version: 2019.2

Such great opportunity, falls shortReally amazing opportunity OnSong has with this app, but unfortunately there are issues that can and will cripple an artist right in the middle of a gig. I spent about 20 hours trying to record timelines to my songs for a 3 hour setlist, but the timelines kept disappearing or not actually recording. Each song took me about 4 or 5 tries to actually capture a song timeline. Night of the gig we started playing and I hit “play” on the first song timeline and nothing happened. I started scrambling to try to get the timeline to play but found ALL my song timelines had been erased. I spent the next 3 hours manually scrolling through the setlist, completely trapped next to my iPad with no ability to work the crowd. I feel completely let down by this app. I was really hoping this would be the answer to allowing me freedom onstage while using a teleprompter... If this is what you need also, look elsewhere..Version: 2020.7.5

Great app, but Support is weakI’ve been using OnSong since 2013. Many musicians who see me performing from my iPad come up to ask what app I’m using. I always highly recommend OnSong to them. Their Support has always been excellent, until recently. It’s been well over a month and still no replies to several emails..Version: 2020.7.6

Not for this KeyboardistI have been using ForScore for years. I love this program. It is powerful and less expensive than OnSong. I recently joined another musical group that uses OnSong. I purchased this product with the understanding that it integrates well with CCLI. It does if you are a guitarist and play using chord charts. It falls short if you are interested in downloading Lead Sheets. In that case it has no advantage over ForScore. As for usability it is less powerful than ForScore with less ability to put notes and links on the actual music. I tried to get a refund on this product but got nowhere. It is what it is. Guitarists love it. If you are a keyboardist who plays by chords only then you may love it as well. If you are a musician who wants more detail in the music that you are using then I would suggest that you save money and go with ForScore..Version: 2019.9

CAUTIONI just updated and it wiped all my songs.Version: 2018.0

Please fix OpenSong importHey Jason.... I don’t know when this started happening, but when importing songs in OpenSong format, all OnSong shows is the <?xml ?> document header for every song. It used to import the song and its basic formatting perfectly. I also posted a request to the FB group that it would be really helpful if OnSong could use OpenSong format files seamlessly, so I could transfer them back and forth between my desktop and the iPad..Version: 2019.2

User manualI lost it, it is blank ?.Version: 2020.7.11

Still waiting for a responseI submitted a support request on September 3rd and another on September 6th. I have not received a response for either one. The support files online have been difficult to search for the answers I’m looking for. In general, it’s an okay app. I would like to see more flexibility in the display options such as being able to center the title, relocating the time signature and tempo information to the left and the author to the right just under the title like most professionally published sheet music would have it. I would also like the option to display chords when projected. I sometimes lead a strum-along ukulele event for 50 or more people and it would be nice to display the larger text and chords of a section rather than in monitor mode where it displays the whole sheet. But first they need to improve their response time for support requests....Version: 2018.2

Great App, but Customer service could be betterFirst of all, I love this app and am very pleased with it. It is absolutely what we needed and I do recommend the app. With that said, I couldn’t give it 5 stars. I have been having an ongoing issue for several months now with songs being deleted from my library. The only way to communicate with OnSong is through email (which is another reason I couldn’t give 5 stars), so the response is never immediate and sometimes it is even days before I hear back. Several times I haven’t gotten a response until subsequent emails were sent. I really felt like OnSong didn’t care about the issue I was having and was told a couple times, “we are aware of the problem and an update is coming soon”. Today, the update finally came out, so I am hoping this has rectified the problem. So, great app, but customer service could be improved a lot!! Quicker responses and please start using telephone support!!.Version: 2020.7.9

OnSongReally struggling with this on my iPad. I try to use the drawing tool and it flicks out of the program all the time. When I go back in it’s gone back to the start of the song, very frustrating when you’re trying to sing with a choir. Also can’t see a tool to make legible notes on the page. Not worth the money I spent so far!.Version: 2018.1

LangagePourquoi, dans la version française, il m’est impossible d’avoir le mode d’utilisation en français ?.Version: 2019.5

Good overall app but input functionality really badSo I have owned this app for a year or two and it has been exactly what I needed for basic chord management albeit with some glitches related to text formatting. Nothing had been a disappointment until lately... As of December, OnSong had allowed song imports directly from Rockin With the Cross / RWTC, but that all came to a stop and something cryptic mentioned on other sites about copyright issues being the cause. I have already tried to contact OnSong support about this and never received a response. I have instead relied on their help articles that mention you can use iOS Safari to find and import a song, but that feature is very unreliable and almost unusable. The formatting is almost always unusable and the only way to then use the key transpose tool is to literally retype the song because the chord notations are not captures and the line / character spacing gets scrambled. All of this makes me pull out my old paper songbook...the very thing I bought OnSong for in the first place. Seems, as this is or was the best option for iOS devices, with the support lacking and the support articles limited, import functionality is really bad and now one of the main sources of song imports has been taken down...I’m basically done with OnSong. It was good while it lasted..Version: 2020.5

When it’s fixedAlways found this a great app, but this glitch with latest update is causing serious problems with myself and many others. Surely your programmers can give us some idea as to when this will be sorted. I didn’t receive the email saying not to update. But will be aware of it next update and wait. Meanwhile I have downloaded another similar app and it’s looking good. But would prefer to use OnSong.Version: 2020.5

When it works, it’s greatIt’s an easy app to navigate and to add songs however I have had nothing but problems due to the fact that it doesn’t always let you stay signed which in turn does not allow you to use the features that you’ve paid for. If that’s not bad enough every so often, too often really, it won’t let you sign in at all and you have to delete the app and reinstall. It has the makings of a great app but unfortunately the “bug” are really frustrating..Version: 2020.8.4

UPDATES have rendered this program UselessThis used to be a great program and for many years I’d raved about it. Not any more... Too big too fast guys! It’s useless and now has cost me 1,000’s of hours months of work editing songs ,tracks a visuals. What has happened since an update that I DID NOT DO!!! IT DID IT ON ITS OWN!!! ALL ANY EDITS TO ALL MY SONGS AND TRACKS AND VISUALS RESET TO ORIGINAL DOWNLOADED OR LOADED FORMAT!!! ALL, EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM. And after reloading them back. In from drop box they reset again and again. I do have most of them backed up on drop box an din the cloud but they all, ALL RESET WITHIN A FEW USES. No help so far with customer service either. That’s gone to sh/t too apparently. Contacted the, over 2 weeks ago , no reply other than an automated email stating it would take about 72 hrs to hear back ... LOL. Anyway, this is no longer a product I will recommend with anyone especially my clients. It has become an unusable platform in the music industry. Sad , it was great for many years. Goodbye OnSong! Oh, and I’ll be needing a refund PRONTO!!! Expect to be passing out a lot of those really soon. Word of mouth of bad products in this industry travels FAST! REGARDS UPDATE ! Now all songs I added tonight , I just checked and not only have the tracks disappeared ,but all the SONGS HAVE TOO?!?! I DID A SHOW THE OTHER DAY AND ALLTHOSE SONGS ARE GONE TOO!!!,! GONE!!! ONSONG? GONE!!!.Version: 2020.7.4

Support is a problemBought app a few years ago. Pay annual subscription fee for more features. My issue is the app does not retain login info & logs me out regularly. Middle of a jam and *poof* I have a dumbed down app that doesn’t have access to the features I’ve paid for because it logged me out. Support has not responded to my emails (three so far) asking how to stay logged in so I can access the features I pay for..Version: 2020.8.4

Last updated brought major glitchesI love OnSong, however I’ve grown increasingly frustrated with the up since the last update. I input 99% of my music by typing it in using an external apple keyboard.. I use split screen A LOT so I have OnSong on the left and Dropbox on the right while typing... it now glitches every time I have this set up, for some reason I can’t scroll while in edit mode (sometimes it will scroll but it will be really really choppy), and if I use shortcut cmd + tab to switch between apps it also glitches by wanting to bring up the iPad screen keyboard .. I hide it and it keeps coming up.. sometimes it completely takes me out of the edit screen and when I go back in, it says something about an error occurred and asks if I want to recover my changes. I have songs (from my iTunes library) attached to my chord charts so I can play along and practice.. when I press the play button and want to pause the song it doesn’t pause.. it somehow activates the music app in the background and I have to get out of the app and pause the song in the music app in order to pause.. I didn’t have any of these issues prior to this las update. Again I love this app it has changed the way I play at church.. but man.. these glitches are making it extremely difficult to work. Please fix !! I have the 9.7” iPad Pro so I know it’s not my iPad.. all other apps work flawlessly..Version: 1.99998

Complicated to useIt’s complicated to use, it does not like the latest version of iOS, the app crashes consistently, if you’re on stage with 500 people in front of you, this is a very very very bad thing. Support is ordinary..Version: 2020.1

Keep losing songs???Went to faqs but that didn’t work. I’ve gone through all the videos but that didn’t work? I’m told I have no corrupted files and no deleted songs to use delete so where are my songs?? If the library can restore my songs it’s not working. I don’t use Onsong much.Version: 2020.5

Don’t waste you moneyRead reviews and I expected it to do more. Can’t import my songs, so much work just to put a song up. Jeez..Version: 2019.5

Where is my keyboard?I purchased OnSong because I joined a team that used it. I quickly fell in love with it. However since he las update I have no keyboard to edit my songs. This is a major bug in a major function of the app..Version: 2020.0

S Wachira-WorthA disappointing app, to be honest. Please bear in mind that this is a SUBJECTIVE view of this app based on personal experience. Other people may have had rather more luck. I hope they have. I wanted an app to store songs, scroll them and transpose keys, as the app claimed it would do. OK- songs can be stored and scrolled, but if in ‘Set’ format, it automatically jumps to the next song when it finishes one. Problem 1. Rather a waste of time trying to add chords, because when the app saves them, they don’t stay where you put them, and move around all over the place. Problem 2. The app does not appear to be able to transpose songs into different keys. Problem 3. One false move and your songs are all deleted, as I have found out to my cost. Problem 4. The so-called back-up does not work. Sorry to be so negative, but this app has failed to make any impression..Version: 2019.8

Please update for the sake of existing pro usersI have been sing OnSong pro for many years and it’s been very stable. Unfortunately no recent updates means the program is unusable now. I noticed the subscription version gets all the dev attention. What has happened team? Remember we are the ones that paid for this app and helped you grow into a great app. I will not pay for a subscription. Maybe you should give us loyal customers free subscription to your newer OnSong app???.Version: 2020.5

Cant be opened at allCant be opened at all on my iphone Pla fix this new version soon or i want a refund!!.Version: 1.952

What have you done.?Everything has been working great until now I can not access my songs or the library and it looks Iike I lost everything If you want a rating at this minute there is not one low enough How long will it take for someone to get back to me?.. Before my next gig?...Version: 2019.8

Pro Does Not Unlock FeaturesI was under the impression that buying the Pro version would unlock the features, but the only thing different from the free version is it will allow more than 30 songs. I contacted support and a bot replied with troubleshooting that did not address the issue. At this point, I would like a refund but the support bot ignored that request, too. I can’t even “Get Support” through the app because that feature is locked just like everything else. If this is a bug, can someone fix it? If it’s by design, then I am leaving this bad review and am out $40..Version: 2020.5

Insufficient documentationI’d like to use the MIDI editor, but there’s insufficient documentation on how to use it and more importantly what it can’t do. Example, I want to do program changes to my Yamaha Montage and if I want a bank other than General Midi, it doesn’t make the change. I also had to waste a lot of time getting it to work with my Bluetooth midi interface. Update: Although I figured out the reason I could not change patches on my Montage and I have viewed the videos, I still maintain my original title. What I’ve also learned is that it isn’t just OnSong lacking in their documentation, Yamaha is also to blame. In addition, OnSong support is also lacking. You don’t get the folks who really know the product, but rather a messenger. I guess I’m just old school as a retired IT specialist of 43+ years. Update #2: Learned the Developer’s lack experience in system design and user interface. This application has amazing potential. My hope is that one day, they will spend some time with SME’s (subject matter experts). Fundamentally, those who would love to exploit its amazing features. Everyone in our band uses it on our iPads. I have bumped the stars by 1..Version: 2020.8.7

Deteriorates over timeThere were some frustrations with this app when I first started using it about four years ago. Those frustrations were overcome. Then with each subsequent release of the app over the last four years the frustrations just kept on coming. It seems that they can’t fix one thing in the app without breaking another. Some of the breaks are minor and some of them major. If you can find something else to use instead of this app I would highly recommend doing so unless you want to spend more time dealing with app frustrations than actually playing music. To the developers: please take the advice of an experienced IT professional and find it in your hearts to go back to the basics of test driven development and build a complete test suite to ensure that changes made to the application do not break existing features. You probably didn’t do this from the beginning and I would like to tell you that it’s extremely hard to do it now with the amount of technical debt that this app has accumulated. Good luck..Version: 2020.8.3

Was goodThey used to have it where you buy the app one time and buy the addon one time to write on PDFs now you have to buy a subscription yearly or monthly. I get there are other features we are paying for, but none of those other features matter to me so it’s a waste. Luckily I have the addons before they went subscription based but for our band, I’m no longer recommending the app. All we need is to write on PDFs there are other apps out there. So you pay $30 one time and then have to pay yearly or monthly for the 1 feature most musicians would use, and get all these other features that we’ll never use as just a musician. I would suggest keeping the write one pdf feature a one time purchase because All of the musicians I play with dont need to change words, live stream, or use any other of the features. You also dont mention the monthly subscription to get the features in your description..Version: 2020.5

Good, but some glitches...I bought an iPad and downloaded this app and spent some time learning how to use it so that we could gig without having to bring a big paper folder full of songs and charts... I spent hours putting our songs onto the app, but now I find they’ve all gone. The app has disappeared or glitched them out of existence for apparently no reason. When the app works it’s great, but I don’t know whether I can trust it when performing yet..Version: 2019.9

Crash and burnNow crashes ever time I try to open. It has been quite stable for a long time, but has been going down hill with updates. If I could only put an old version back!.Version: 2020.8.7

Many problem with spotifyI used this apps to practice. Load the score and match the song with spotify. It worked for some time. Now it’s a total mess. Songs are stopping in randomly. Keeps coming back to the first song on the list. Can’t find song in the spotify database unless you like it on spotify first..Version: 2020.7.4

Not happyNot happy with this app. Freezes up after ten songs! Going elsewhere.Version: 2020.7.5

Totally unimpressiveIts better than shifting through a bunch of bits of paper to organize your set lists but not by much. Im new back into my music so the idea seemed revolutionary to me at first but the reality of this app feels a decade behind the times..Version: 2019.5

Crashes on openingJust got a new iPad and when I load my back-up database, OnSong crashes on opening. Removing the last song doesn’t fix it. According to support I need to send my library to them from within the app for diagnostics. Kind offer but how can I do this if the app crashes on opening. So far haven’t found any other way to communicate with support. Luckily I don’t have a gig tonight..Version: 2020.7.6

So far....not good! For the price (close to $40 AUS) I would have expected a 'manual'. Emailed and no response. Did all that the self help Q&A said and still no manual. I can see the potential for this app but not good so far..Version: 1.99995

Incredibly complex but a lot of featuresThis app is very capable but complex. There are easier apps. Try songbook as an example. OnSong is very good at going beyond just flipping pages and controlling things - background tracks, lighting, and so on. You can also control display of songs across multiple devices at the same time. Depends on how important all this remote control that is to you. Sharing content (like songs) among multiple musicians is possible but quite a chore to set up and manage. You have to keep importing songs. In some other products they just appear and just update as you change them. The documentation on sharing is poorly written and confusing. Read it, but be prepared to do a lot of trial and error before you get it to work. Also the desktop versions are a bit of a joke. All I wanted to do was to use the desktop to edit and import songs. But you have to have your ipad on with OnSong running just to get it to open. They say they will someday have a true desktop application but they’ve been saying this for a while, I would not count on it any time soon. In summary use this app if you need the advanced control features. Otherwise consider easier alternatives. I recommend OnSong do work to improve their interface. They obviously have capable engineers, but if the engineers build a feature and people struggle to use it then the feature is useless. Creating lots of documentation or videos is nice but should not be necessary..Version: 1.99996

It was the best! When I first got it, it was awesome! Now it just disappoints, crashes all the time and the app glitches a lot! I tried to contact their support team but no luck! It’s been happening ever since they went to monthly subscription!.Version: 2020.8.3

Apple Pencil issuesEdit: In late October 2020, the Apple Pencil was working beautifully to notate my charts. Today, 1-9-21, it’s doing what it was doing in my first review, plus some even more crazy things like duplicating the chart before superimposing the charts on each other, but slightly askew. I’m so disappointed that I can’t write on my charts again. Original review: I’ve absolutely loved this app until last month, when my Apple Pencil went from working really well for notes on PDF’s, to jumping all over the screen like crazy. I was in a very important rehearsal situation, and almost got fired because I couldn’t get my entrances written in the right places. The screen would move around while I tried to make markings. So at the job, I was totally dependent on other people to show me when to play and sing. It was really bad, and could’ve been financially devastating. For the future, I’d love to see actual music notation option added to the program, even if it’s small scale. There are times when I’d really like to make even a sticky note with a notated phrase on it. As it is, I type in the phrase using the letters (which is very limited). Even a staff option, where I could just write in the notes with the Apple Pencil...assuming the pencil can write a circle and a line without shooting diagonally across the page....Version: 2020.7.3

DisappointedA fairly expensive app that isn’t very intuitive use, I was disappointed to find out after purchase the the first example of the app shows the colour highlight section which isn’t even included in the price! This followed by an announcement within a couple of weeks that the price is getting discounted by 30% but not the two extra items that I would need to complete the package that in any case is no longer going to be the flagship product. I would have appreciated a bit more thought for those of us who have just invested in this package especially to enable them to enjoy full use..Version: 2019.11

Overpriced and Almost UnusableIf all you need to do is read chord charts, this app may be right for you, although I suspect there may be cheaper ways to do this digitally. The transpose feature is nice, too. HOWEVER, I play in a band that requires me to read sheet music, make notes on my music, and flip through multiple pages. For this, OnSong is a complete waste of money, for the following BIG reasons: 1. YOU CAN’T WRITE NOTES ON THE MUSIC. Actually, yes you can, but you need to pay an extra monthly fee in order to do that. When I pay $30 for an app, I expect it to do this small thing without trying to gouge me with extra fees. 2. Supposedly, one is supposed to be able to advance pages by tapping the top or bottom of the screen. However, this works VERY unreliably. There is no guarantee that when I do this, the page will advance. In fact, more often than not, it doesn’t. And no, this isn’t because I haven’t tapped the screen to make the top buttons disappear. When I’m reading and playing a piece of music, it’s all I can do to tap the screen, but knowing that I’ll probably have to hit it again because the thing doesn’t work the way it should is completely unacceptable. Now, there IS a way to reliably advance pages, but you need to by a $70+ pedal to do this. I paid $30 for the app, it should work as it’s supposed to. (By the way, I am using it on a brand new iPad).Version: 2020.2

Impossible appThis is seriously the worst app I have had the misfortune to buy...expensive, instructions don’t work or make sense.. Useless to me ,need a refund...waste of money 😡.Version: 1.99999

Very good, overkill for manyOnSong has a ton of features. Like, a ton. While some are really useful, they add to the density and complexity of the product. You can have Libraries, Books within Libraries, and Setlists too. It can read straight PDFs, but mainly works using it's own text-based formatting and metadata system. This is really the charm of the app, as most other lyrics apps are really glorified PDF readers. With OnSong, I can edit song lyrics right in the app. While OnSong “syncs” in a manner to Dropbox, you can’t really use that feature to keep multiple devices in sync like other apps. It would be nice if OnSong used iCloud for real sync. Overall, I like OnSong and use it with several other band members in my projects. We all find it good enough, but kinda wonky, and we all get just a bit creeped out by how much the product is preconfigured specifically for the Christian church/worship market. I understand that that's where the money is at the moment, but it's been a bit off-putting to several friends as well..Version: 2019.5

So disappointedI purchased the app in 2019 before they made a premium version. LOVED IT!!!!! Expensive but so worth it. With the premium version some of my features like Drawing are not available. I have followed all the instructions online as the promise was we would not lose anything but I cannot access the feature. SO VERY SAD. The link to unlock it sent to my email doesn’t do it. SO VERY VERY SAD. For those looking for a similar app do your homework. Search and investigate. There are others that cost less and will work for you..Version: 2020.7.8

Membership wall blocking access to features in recent updates…I purchased this app years ago as it was a very popular and solid option for scrolling through charts. However, with the recent update, they have placed numerous features behind a membership wall that are in accessible unless you create an account and share all kinds of information with them. Having to suddenly create an account for an app that cost $20 to regain access to features I used regularly… That’s a dealbreaker for me. I was already looking at other potential options due to the app having woeful instability, constantly crashing, not to mention consistently pulling up a login / “create an account” screen every single time the app is launched, and I do mean *every single time*. No thanks. Pretty disappointed with the direction this app went and will be looking elsewhere..Version: 2020.8

Won't open. Just crashes.Used to be a good app. Suspicious that just as they launch a subscription model, the old one stops working. Don't buy..Version: 2020.7.6

Don’t Buy For Sync Capability - Too Clever for Own GoodTL;DR - All your file management has to be done within OnSong. The sync engine always overrules the remote sync with the local files. - - - - - If multiple users are going to share a sync source (e.g. Google Drive > OnSong) spare yourself the grief. Just don’t buy this app. OnSong always looks to the local files to determine what to sync. So deleting from the shared source (Google Drive) causes OnSong to say, “Hmmm, Happy Birthday is missing from the sync source... I’ll copy it,” even though you deleted Happy Birthday (because you hate birthdays, right?) Songbook ChordPro is deferential to the source directory. So whatever the Google Drive has, Songbook replicates locally. This is fantastic for off-site collaboration. In fairness, I think the developer imagines you’ll use the real-time sharing/beaming function for collaboration. But if you’re remotely collaborating, updating charts, etc. this app is actually a train wreck. It duplicates files, it doesn’t seem to reconcile sync logs between multiple devices. “Horrendous” is not an overstatement. THE FIX: Don’t let OnSong be the boss! Provide an option where the local OnSong database is deferential to the shared folder. If both local and shared files exist, OnSong compares the dates and syncs the newest one..Version: 2018.6

Misleading description of appI purchased OnSong Pro because it says it’s a complete app for musicians but it’s not. AfterI paid, I then discovered that I have to pay extra for options that used to be included according to friends who have been using the app for a few years already. I have requested a refund from Apple as this is not what I expected..Version: 2020.7.11

Problem with sticky notesI cannot change the font size of the sticky notes. Not matter what I do. Fix this!.Version: 1.99999

Don’t update if you use imagesSince the latest update, my image files have been resized and rotated, and are now too distorted to read. Please please fix this!.Version: 2020.8

Used to be goodUsed to be able to have chords above lyrics highlighted, they're always trying to update it, but only to make it more complicated & to remove the features that make it useful.. Seem to have lost the plot, shame.Version: 1.99998

Will not wokI have to rewrite my song three and four times, And when it comes up it’s wrong.Version: 2020.7.11

Bait And SwitchWhen the band leader of our church left back in November to take a call as associate pastor, I bought an iPad for the sole purpose of getting Onsong and running things like he had for years. He even helped me get set up. The app was $30, twice what he had paid but I bought it anyway. For the past two months I’ve been learning, imported songs, added little sticky notes, drawn in little arrows, and highlighted key areas. Then, a couple weeks ago drawings and highlighting stopped working. Now I come to find out that those features are now tied to some premium subscription package that will cost me about $50 a year. This is nothing but bait-and-switch! $50 A YEAR to do something I could do for pennies with a highlighter on paper! I feel so cheated and tricked. In reply to the developer response, my statement stands; bait and switch. I was “able” to purchase the drawing “add-on” for another $2.99. The fact remains that this is basic, expected functionality and was included in the functionality of my original purchase. Apparently it is now the developer’s intent to use these features to force users into a subscription service..Version: 2020.2

Awful Set UpAlthough OnSong works fine ......... getting it up and running is a nightmare! Having to use Dropbox to input files is a nonsense and once you’ve done this, editing is unbelievably cumbersome! In 2019 to have an interface that is not WYSIWYG beggars belief. I spent literally hours organising my material and I still have chords that resolutely refuse to display in a different colour despite countless attempts. Rather than a straightforward online manual, they have created lots of online videos. These are time-consuming to trawl and watch with no guarantee that the particular problem you may be trying to solve is addressed. Some years ago, I messaged them and asked that they include a simple fix to allow a chord chart to display as a fixed item in the corner of the screen whilst lyrics could be scrolled simultaneously underneath them. Chord charts are the way very many pro musicians work and they have no need for the displaying of chords directly above the lyric line. The inclusion of this facility along with a root & branch rethink of the editing would make this a useful app for the gigging musician to use as an on-stage aide memoire. OnSong, at the moment requires a great deal of frustrating time and effort for it to function effectively. AF.Version: 2019.1

Drawing tool not includedNot happy at all. I bought this app because I know some people who have been using OnSong for a few years now and recommended it. They using the Drawing tool to make notes and do not pay a subscription. It was only after I paid for the program that I discovered the Drawing tool is no longer an add-on but rather part of the premium subscription. Seems a bit ridiculous when I already paid for the app. Not at all worth the money to upgrade for one feature I would actually use. There are a ton of other features included I will never have any use for that I would gladly trade to be able to have the one function I really needed. The app works great for organizing songs but I could use anything to do that. Frankly, I would request my money back if I could and use another program that includes this function..Version: 2020.7.11

Lots here but some basics need improvementI only bought this to speed up our originals band’s ability to do covers. So I wanted lyrics that would either scroll intelligently (BPM synced to set points in the song) or a smart pedal system. The pedal system here is very blunt. The menu system in the app itself is way worse. There’s about 3 different locations you have to wander between to change settings if, say, you don’t want to accidentally switch to another song right in the middle of performance. Put everything to do with pedals in the same heading and label clearly!.Version: 2020.8.7

STILL no (proper) support! FIX THE SCROLLING!UPDATE: I’ve been using this app for what must be 3 years now and they STILL haven’t fixed the Scrolling functionality. Surely some of the 5 star reviews are from a mixture of paid shills, part time musicians who play on Sundays who haven’t run across any issues, or people who simply don’t use the full functionality of the app. Oh and forget about using their "great chord chart features" on your existing charts (if they're in Word, or Pages) you either have to redo the charts in basic text format, or start from scratch and create a chart using their Word processing format. We're professionals with 1,000+ songs already in Word/pages format - really, who has time to redo every song? (I’m updating this review because just NOW the app froze on me in rehearsal as I tried yet AGAIN to use the scrolling functions)..Version: 2020.7.11

Keeps locking and crashingWorked well for quite a few years but now repeatedly freezes and crashes on Ipad..Version: 2020.7.6

Needs a facility to reverse to previous versionThis is a superb app, make no mistake about that, but right now, I am dead in the water when putting new songs into the app because of a bug on the last update. I cannot extract text to place the song into the onsong format. The frustrating thing is, on their website they say the next update has a fix for this problem, but because it’s not released yet, there is nothing That can be done. UNACCEPTABLE! I should be able to rollback to previous update. Please look into this..Version: 2018.2

ConfusingThis app is so confusing. I watched the tutorials and followed each step. The songs will not appear in my app! Grrrrrrr.Version: 2018.4

Very Poor SupportI paid for the upgrade and then got an upgrade version that kee-s asking me to upgrade to the upgrade I just purchased. Nothing in their support list even addresses this and no links to get an answer. I regret the purchase—out $49.00..Version: 2020.8.3

No updates...It’s unfortunate you offer a profesional app and yet lack on updates. When was the last time you did an update for iOS ? You all planing in getting more money out of users but can’t even deliver an update even months after an important iOS change. That’s the greedy doing... fix the issues with iOS 14 before even trying to offer a “premium” service. That’s why I bought a “pro” version, to be able to count on a supported app..Version: 2020.5

Such a Disappointment!I first paid for OnSong over 5 years ago. I remember at the time it was the most expensive app I paid for on the App Store. I was beginning a music ministry at a small church, non-paid, and I needed a system that would play backup tracks and words/guitar chords. At the beginning OnSong worked well, until the developers turned into the money-changers and switched over to the premium model. “Don’t worry, you who’d paid for the previous version, we’ll take care of you.” Right! Immediate, add-ons I paid for weren’t available and when I inquired about it, they said, “just buy it again and the App Store will automatically determine the previous purchase and adjust. So, I spent another $10 for the console add on and was charged... wait for it: $10. Being a gullible Christian, I turned the other cheek and gave OnSong the extra $10. But today was the last straw. The backing track feature became extremely buggy, resetting in the middle of a church service. When I got home I did a complete backup of my library and then deleted and reinstalled the app. When I installed my backup, over one year of songs failed to install. So, I would have to manually re-load each individual song. Well, thanks, but no, thank you. A notebook and a cassette player is more dependable and less offensive than your offering..Version: 2020.7.3

Terrible ReliabilityEvery time there’s some sort of update, functionality is broken. As a praise and worship leader, I rely on this app multiple times a week. However, every time I turn around something is broken. Too often I’m left going back to sheets of paper because of this company’s failure to test their products before releasing an update. This latest time, they’ve broken the ability to transpose songs that are downloaded from SongSelect. I’m going to have to input them as chordpro to get that functionality back. That’s hundreds of songs in my case. Another time, they changed the pedal behavior, another time they broke page changing for every existing song in my library but not new songs, etc… Usually the problems are fixed after a while with a new update. But this update is rather crippling for working on the fly. I’m having to just print stuff out and transpose by hand and work with pages again. So it seems its going to be time for a new app..Version: 2020.7.11

Récupérer mes chansons?J'aimerais savoir comment faire pour récupérer mes chansons qui ont disparus. Je les avait misent dans l'onglet "chansons" Merci de vos précieux conseils.Version: 2019.0

CrashedI can’t launch the app running the new update on iOS 14.Version: 2020.5

Great but over complicatedAs a one man band had great expectations of this app but boy o boy such complexity. It has taken weeks to get to grips with it especially getting midi foot switches to work (BT Positive grid). In my view the authors do not seem to have appreciated that a “song” can have more component parts than those prescribed in this app, multiple backing tracks for one set of lyrics as an example, sure there are work around but at what effort. The recent move to a subscription based offering with such a high cost scrubsit out for me. Band in a box is an alternative to us busker types.Version: 2020.5

Irritated with the appEDIT: Was told to download beta. It was useless. My problem was not addressed. When i sent a reply to their comments to me, IT STARTED A NEW TICKET! Not only that, i never received a response. So far, its a crap app and the customer service is garbage. I would marek less than one star if it was possible. We have a few separate accounts, bought 6 iPads, page turners, the mounts for the iPads, the works…. And none of it is being used for well over a month now because this app is useless. ——————————————————————————————————— Keeps glitching out. Automatically changes pages, when switching to the next song it goes to the last page, some of my devices the song wont come up it just shows a blank page or title only. Two sundays we haven’t been able to use this app. Support had me use beta… how do i screen shot it glitching? I sent a video but haven’t heard back. Frustrating that there isn’t a faster channel… small budget, cant get premium and cant justify the extra cost anyways. Great app otherwise..Version: 2020.7.11

Far far from intuitive!!So far I’m regretting this purchase. Using Search in help has no results for and subject entered. Getting to Song editing function is more complicated than needs to be and makes little sense. Just moving lyrics from MacBook to iPad has been totally frustrating so far with unpredictable results. Manual is poorly written and so far seems to be missing details re importing files. Even submitting this is a pain. Why do I need a nickname??.Version: 2020.5

A bit confusedI had to pay something like $60 to buy this app, and so far it’s been good but suddenly when I went to annotate it said I had to pay for a subscription? I don’t understand/find it completely ridiculous that after paying $60 for the app I now have to pay even more money yearly to be able to use all of its features???.Version: 2020.8.8

DO NOT UPGRADEDespite their claim that you can’t lose a library unless you do something wrong or have a corrupt IOS etc. I have lost everything after upgrading on 2 different devices. Completely fresh installs on both..Version: 2019.5
