✓ Critical features still not releasedNo ability to erase tracks inevitably results in sloppy and ugly spotty flight tracks and random lines from times with poor GPS reception. This feature has been promised but remains unreleased years later. ✓ Really fun appThis is a very cool app iv been tracking all around recently and it is very interesting to see the exact Path I took. The only down side is it uses a lot of battery constantly using the gps. But there is no way around that on iPhones and iPads. ✓ My favourite appI have used this app for 5 years now and I can say it is by far my most used and longest continuously used app. Everywhere I go, even if I’ve been along previous routes, I will have this on, even if it just to take a slight detour down a road I have not “unfogged”. I have found it a great way to interact with the environment around me and discover new places that I may never have ventured to before, purely before of Fog. ✓ How to log GPS and avoid roaming chargesUpdate post-iOS 9: Seems to need overhaul as Location Services is lagging when this app is open, resulting in dotted defogging when on the highway. Option 1: Buy a local simcard. You will easily get the money back through savings on public transit and well-rated places you wouldn't have found through sitting on wifi at your hotel. Option 2: When recording, keep Airplane Mode 'off' and Cellular Data 'off'. GPS will still work. Update map cache whenever you are on wifi..Version: 1.7.6
✓ Best app everI've had this app for approx 6 years - unfortunately long after my most active travel years. But even then I have been able to upload GPS files to unfog places I have tracked myself (ie runs). This app encourages me to see places I never would have gone out of my way to see (random side streets) otherwise. In doing so I have discovered so many places I might not otherwise discover! The only "down side" to this app is it can very quickly turn a short trip / run to the store into an all day adventure when you realize there's a street 10 min out of the way you haven't gotten 😂 Highly recommend for any adventurer.Version: 2.5.3

✓ Great fun, but kills battery :(Love it, great fun. Very satisfying when you realise you are taking a road you haven't uncovered yet! But that means I get upset when I complete a journey and realise the app wasn't running! Can't leave it running all the while, it drains the battery fast, so I end up micro-managing it and switching it off every time I stop moving for a few minutes. Of course, then I sometimes forget to switch it back on when I move. Could there be some way of manually rubbing out fog to correct mistakes, or would that be cheating? The backup to Dropbox should be automated, maybe once per week? Would also like more achievements to unlock, or more stats for each day/journey..Version: 1.7.6

✓ ThoughtsAwesome idea. Having fun with this so far! It does chew up a bit of battery life, but you can turn recording on and off with the push of a button which I like. Just remembering to turn it back on is a problem :P The Cost - expensive. But I guess that's just so you can recoup the money it took to develop this. Hopefully you can eventually bring the price down to a dollar or two. I'd like to see an update for the iPhone 5's 4" screen at some stage. ✓ Bitter sweetI would like to begin by saying how much I love this app. It has really made me think about the world around me and how I interact with it. I feel I take advantage of my environment so much more then what I might have done previously. That said unfortunately the app has a considerable shortcoming. Recently my phone crashed requiring resorting from a previous sync. Having recently backed it up to my laptop I was not too concerned. However on restoring the phone to its previous sync I found that the entire fog of world app had been deleted reset to default settings. All of the data is associated with the phone and not with a profile account that you can log in and out of. This is a huge shortcoming, if like me your phone crashes or if you change your phone. There really need to be unique profile accounts for this app to be any more meaningful, otherwise it will reset every time a phone is changed. This needs to be addressed in future editions of the app..Version: 2.1.10

✓ So much fun!This app has made me go and explore places I would otherwise never have seen. I've started clearing all the 'fog' around where I live, and getting in good exercise at the same time. Each day I have to travel further to find new fog, so that ramps up my exercise gradually too! My map looks like one of those old "Etch-a-sketch" toys :) Used it recently on a trip to Germany, and it is interesting to look back on all the twist and turns (and wrong turns!) we took while there. One slight complaint with this version over the last… when you zoom out on the map the lines get too thin to see. On the old version the lines got thicker as you zoomed out and it was always easy to see your tracks. Overall though, I love the app and the improvements made with this last version have really improved things..Version: 2.0

✓ Literally my favourite app.Being able to see you track around the world is awesome and it sure makes for a hell of a competition! I have been using FOTW for about 3 years now and it’s by far my most used application. There was a dark time where no updates seemed certain and the battery usage just got worse and worse. ✓ Welcome back with the new update!I loved the app so much, I continued to use the old version despite all its flaws. But the 2.0 has finally been released – and I can't be happier! ✓ Great app, need to address a few issuesOverall, amazing concept, has plenty of potential many of which has already been tapped. Just a few problems and recommendations. 1. Biggest issue is power, this app drains power like mad when left on. I know there is a message recommending the use of an external gps device but they are relatively expensive atm. 2. Could add a "journey management" system which enables unique marking of specific journeys which people might want to distinguish from the normal day to day city trips. 3. ✓ Pretty good.Straight forward idea for a game. I always enjoy taking new routes to uncover more of the world. I like that it just runs in the background and you don’t have to think about it. ✓ Like video game fog in open world gamesLove this app. Reminds me of video game fog and when you go somewhere new the place is unknown. You fill in the blanks as you go. The app hardly crashes, if I leave it open for a couple of days it will I imagine it’s handled too many Resource or some various reason. Anyways love this app and have been using it for about 6 years now. Currently in the level 180 range and have been to multiple states with it. Can’t fly commercially with, trust me I’ve tried, even with the WiFi on them. Just a tip to save your phones battery life. Also, I almost always you is in battery saver mode. Excellent app. What’s missing: ability to export, so I could view/edit the content in google maps or elsewhere; ability to edit, so I could view with and without my road trips and flights, etc. Or manually distinguish or auto-detect car, plane etc so that those can be viewed as separate maps, to separate places I’ve “really been” from those I’ve driven through or flown over. ✓ Life enhancing!It might be very simple, and it mightn't really do much, but, any app that encourages you to get out of your phone rather than deeper into it is a good app in my opinion. I've seen some awesome places I never would have if I wasn't trying to clear a different route. I also find it a great graphical aid when explaining trips and routes to others. Many members of my extended family have this app now, and although we don't allow mobile phones at the dinner table, we do allow the comparing of cleared fog. I have no issue with the fact that you can't clear locations from the past either, and in my opinion anyone who does is just a whiner. Enjoy it for what it is, and get out there and clear whatever you can manage. I used to be an interstate truck driver here in Australia, and I'd almost have the eastern states cleared if this app was around back then, but it wasn't, so I guess I'll just have to find the time to return or just get on with clearing where I travel from the present. ✓ Wish I had purchased 200,000 miles sooner but could be better.While the app is fundamentally great and I don’t regret purchasing it I feel a couple basic things could be done to improve it significantly to stir up more interest and promote more use from those who already own it. 1. Heat map. Instead of just clearing fog it’d be nice if the app incentivized using it when you know you won’t be traveling on new roads by changing the color of roads dependent on how many times you have traced over the same line. This would show the places that were most important to you throughout your time using this app. 2. It’d be nice if larger countries such as the US were divided into states. The passport isn’t very interesting to look into for people who generally stay within the US but may visit several states a week simply because there’s only one number to look at and the discovered percentage is so low due to the size of the US that it’s nearly impossible to appreciate even after hundreds of thousands of miles logged. 3. An ability to erase lines drawn in error due to faulty gps signals..Version: 2.2.17

✓ Love this appBeen using it for years and love being able to see the places I’ve been. It helps me remember my travels when I look back over my maps. I have had one small issue with the import function however. I saved the data as .gpx files and put it in the correct google drive folder and was able to successfully import it into the program (the little green checkboxes appear), but the amount of the world that I have travelled hasn’t changed and the cleared “lines” haven’t been added to the fog either. I checked the .gpx file on a separate .gpx viewer and it seemed to work perfectly so I think the file is fine. Sorry for posting this here, I didn’t see a link to email app support..Version: 2.1.10

✓ WizardryMy phones screen smashed and when I had it replaced, the phone locked me out and I had to connect to iTunes and factory reset. This meant losing all my FoW data just after I’d come back from travelling. So I reset the phone and redownloaded the app to find my last back up was 2 years ago. A week later the app somehow managed to recover the lost data and fill the map back in. Absolutely no clue how since my iCloud was full and the phone was wiped but I ain’t complainin. ✓ Google Drive functionality does not workApp claims that you can sync data and import to/from google drive, but after breaking my phone, losing the app, and trying to import data from Google Drive on a new phone, nothing is working. The import screen says to import GPX files from google drive, but when you sync up with google drive from the app, it’s not GPX files but these weird, unlabeled txt files. Perhaps I’m doing something wrong, but it seems ridiculous that the files synced from the app to Drive are not able to be imported back into the app..Version: 2.2.15
