Stuff Magazine for Negative User Reviews

What a jokeThis app is a complete joke, I subscribe to the printed magazine so should be able to download issues to my iPad , all it gives me are links to purchase copies that I'm already entitled to, there customer help line is almost as bad " oh sorry to hear about this please try again tomorrow" that's about as much help as you get. Well tomorrow has come and gone. For several weeks now seriously thinking about cancelling my subscription to the printed mag if this is how much hey care about us. "Wow that rant felt good " lol.Version: 1.1.2

How do you give Zero Stars? Total Rip-Off!Infuriatingly stupid login. The digital magazine requires that you provide a "subscriber ID" that is included on your PRINT magazine label. But you bought this through iTunes, you say? Well, tough. You just threw away $40, because they don't send you a "subscriber ID" so that you can log in and read the magazine. I believe this is a total fraud on iTunes users. If you must be a print subscriber to read this app, you should not be able to buy the digital magazine on iTunes. UPDATE: After several days, support e-mailed me instructions on how to get logged in. Basically, if you feel stuck click Cancel and get back to the beginning, then pick the opposite option option from what got you stuck. Frustrating, and still *terrible* product design, but you CAN eventually get to your mags if you are persistent. Now that I'm in the magazine, it is a decent experience. I've always enjoyed this mag when picking it up @ B&N. The digital version really needs to be able to sense iPad orientation. I use mine in a ZaggFolio, so I always use it in Landscape orientation. That doesn't work at all with Stuff, which will only display in Portrait (unless I'm totally missing something again. possible, but when everything else auto-detects, why can't this?).Version: 1.1.1

Don't buyThe magazine download freezes and does not complete. I have tried it over 5 times with same issue. I want my money back!.Version: 1.0.0

Disappointing start!About time Stuff came to the IPad, have been really looking forward to this as a (very) long time print subscriber. BUT have been trying to log in using my surname and subscription number as advised and keep being told there is a problem try later. Looks like T3 will be getting my money a bit longer till they sort this..Version: 1.0.0

Poor, with poor supportApp will not let me download issues unless I buy them, even though I have a subscription!!! Contacted Stuff and they said "Yes, there's definitely a problem with your subscription, we'll pass that on to the devs and get it looked at for you. Should be fixed in a couple of days. That was THREE WEEKS ago, and I've called them since, only to be told that "someone is looking into it". Very poor. Avoid..Version: 1.1.2

Don't botherToooo slooooooow. I tried to download the issue over and over and over and over again but it kept stalling. Waste of time. I could have walked to the shop and bought the magazine. Still haven't been able to get it to download..Version: 1.1.1

Good, although somewhat gimmicky.Never really read the mag before but downloaded this. Good informative articles but you'll find yourself touching various parts of the screen to see if you've missed anymore hidden pages. Makes it slightly gimmicky, bordering on annoying. How did they manage to make a simple task like reading so frustrating? Think I'll pay an extra £1.50 for a paper copy next time..Version: 1.0.0

Truly AppallingWhilst the quality of the articles is perhaps starting to decline Stuff remains better than the likes of T3 for content in my view. The app itself is truly woeful though. How a publication that rates the apps others produce can peddle this out is beyond me. It actually makes me question the opinion it proffers on each page. Layout, navigation, functionality all dire. I find myself having to delete the app and reinstall to get the latest issue - I effectively notice the latest copy on the shelf in a store which reminds me to reinstall the app so I can read it on my iPad!!! Shoddy..Version: 23.6.4

Content better than T3 but poorer implementationStep in the right direction that Stuff is almost a proper iPad version now - was getting fed up of T3 wasting articles on poor opinion pieces and concepts which you can't buy for years/if ever & the fact that T3 was starting to look a bit sleazy with the over-use of models - Stuff has got a more respectable balance. Stuff needs to learn a thing from T3 though, such as: - ability to view in landscape/portrait on the fly - ability to zoom into articles easily using gesture control - text is a bit small sometimes - ability to bookmark pages - not require readers to constantly be clicking on icons to read a simple article - gets frustrating - be a bit more stable - mine crashed about 4 times to get through one edition (had to delete the app and re-install it to get it working the first time)..Version: 1.0.0

DisappointedI've been a long time subscriber of Stuff magazine 7+ years. I love gadgets and love the magazine. Having purchased an iPad and upon launch of the stuff iPad edition, I cancelled my magazine subscription and bought a 12 month subscription on my iPad. Unfortunately I'm a bit disappointed. I've found numerous mistakes in the iPad edition, glitches, and incorrect photos etc. Mistakes are sometimes corrected, but this involves a lengthy download and install of the magazine again. Who checks the ipad edition before it is distributed? I wish I had kept the subscription to the print edition. I hope this is sorted waiting for the November edition or they will lose a long term subscriber..Version: 1.1.1

GarbageHoly Smoke is this awful. It's a scam and mind numbing at the same time. It's not free, not even partially. It lets you register...and then you see the mag for about five seconds and it goes back to register screen again, and again.....and every time you try to do it. Apple should be booting this crap. Any positive reviews MUST be made by employees or girlfriends....there's no way someone would rate this above garbage level..Version: 1.1.2

Works well after reinstallingSince the update and a reinstall it finally works..Version: 7.1.14

Warning. It seems counterintuitive, from a marketing point of view, that if you're trying to get me to like your magazine, or at least one that I've never heard of, you would at least give me one or two issues for free with the download so I can see if it's for me. (Like every other app in the newsstand.) This app asks for your personal information, THEN informs you that you'll get nothing as a sample. Issues are about $5 apiece, which is a lousy exchange rate with the advertised UK pice of $£2.95. (Should about $4, although this might Apple's bad attempt at banking.) Bad manners, bad marketing = Instant delete..Version: 1.1.3

Ruined with the updateIt used to be wonderful to read, interactive, crystal clear and well formatted. Now the update is a cheap scanned version. Shame on you Stuff. I'm going to T3..Version: 23.6.4

Free view is scamFree view is scam to get your info. If the free view does not work I would think there regular view would not work to..Version: 1.1.2

Slow!Been waiting for the issue to download for over an hour now. Seems like it only downloads when I have the app active on screen. It took ages, I tried to go and read the news on another app while waiting for it to download, but the download just stops. Somehow it doesn't download while running in the background Kind of stupid. The file size for each issue is around 190MB..Version: 1.0.0

Rubbish and frustrating avoid avoid avoid!!!Constantly have to reregister and when I try to read the December issue I have purchased it constantly goes back to the registration screen. Really really frustrating, wasted $4.99. Rubbish rubbish rubbish.Version: 1.1.2

BadStuff after there last update became garbage I am un subscribing.Version: 2.0

Double bubble ?After struggling to enter my subscription details (enter just the numbers, not STUF) I finally managed to get in, smooth looking app but not quite the pazzazz of the T3 app yet... Be nice if, as a subscriber of the print version you were given a free pad version for the length of your print subscription, why should I have to pay price ?.Version: 1.0.0

Stuff magazine review.Terrible, absolutely terrible! It kept freezing on taking me to my home page, then when I would click back on it would keep making me sign in again, and again or make a new account! Apart from that, it was difficult to use, the magazine is MUCH shorter than I thought (about ten pages, if that!) also, in the app it makes you bye the magazines as a in app purchase - I think that this is very sly! This is a no-brainier, don't download/ bye/ read ETC....Version: 1.1.2

Stuff magazineBeen working until latest update, issue downloads but crashes as soon as you try open please fix!!!!!!.Version: 1.1.3

Waste of timeThe magazine itself is not too bad (although it is the uk version). It can be a bit slow, but almost bare able. My biggest issue, after installing the app and logging in to it as a new reader, I bought the 3 month subscription (which is same price as T3 - who now have an Australian version). Every time I close the app and relaunch, I have to register again as a new subscriber. This becomes a pain - a) because I have already done it and b) you can only do it once connected to a network. I love the fact that when I'm travelling I can have all my magazines on here, but I'm not always connected to the net, and this one little feature (stupid feature) means that I can't always read this magazine when it suits me. I emailed stuff about this the first time it happened, and they told me just to reregister each time..Version: 1.1.1

Scam -Stay AwayThis was incredibly misleading. You subscribe for a year and then you are required to log in with a "subscriber code" you are never given, I have emailed several times and received no response. This should be removed... I couldn't get back to the magazine once I closed the app. I never complain about anything, I simply choose not to...but this is essentially stealing..Version: 1.1.1

Update has ruined it!!!Used to prefer Stuff to T3 but since the update I've cancelled my subscription. It's just a scanned copy of the paper version, no interactive items and you have zoom most pages because the writing is so small. Going to stick with T3, as they don't mess around with formats..............very disappointed Stuff......going to lose a lot of fans over this one!!!!!!.Version: 23.6.4

Written by monkeys who are managed by nerdsAgree with previous reviews complaining of unnecessarily complicated navigation through magazine. Its a gadget mag thats actually too 'clever' that only acts to distract and irritate. You end up actually wondering whether you have read the whole magazine because of this. Other issues also prove this app has been poorly designed & tested. Latest app version forces you to agree to communications from Stuff and its partners before it will allow you to sign up as a new reader - even when you are an existing (iTunes) subscriber. Very unethical. It also doesn't delete monthly issues as the app option is supposed to allow and if you then download the same issue again - it somehow records this as a new issue and doubles up the space used for this. E.g. download Nov issue - settings/usage shows this as 297mb used. Then 'delete' Nov issue (actually needed to as missing page errors shown from first attempted download) and then download Nov issue again - which fails because iPad is now out of space. Check iPad settings/usage again and now shows Stuff using 611mb with no successfully downloaded issues...... So there appears to be no check on space available versus space required before the download begins and a failure to clean up redundant space use after this. Don't waste your time with this app..Version: 1.1.3

Omg..worst app everNot even 1 star..its a shamefull app..i dont believe that apple allows such a crappy app to be displayed...doesnt download properly..if somehow you manage it it doesnt log in...i after 10 try you open you cannot read it..terrible..absolutly the worst app that i bought...Version: 1.1.2

Poor appI have never felt the urge to write a review, but given how poor this app has performed Firstly it's a zero on its rating as it simply does not open. I have purchased two issues, may and June Neither of these issue will open on my iPhone 4S after first read through, and with the June copy, that took a while to actually open the first time This is the same for my iPad mini I have tried deleting and restoring on my iPad mini The reason I'm actually writing this review is just today I've read reviews giving this app five stars?? As I have just tried to read my purchased copy's again, which do not open I decided to write a review I have always enjoyed stuff magazine but this app is a complete let down on all fronts Others have mentioned the strange navigation through the pages which I agree is annoying and not very responsive This magazine should be one of the best apps on newsstand ? Sorry to say you will be better off just buying the actual magazine from your local newsagent, at least that way you can read it whenever you like after your purchase Zero stars!!!! Avoid !!!! Shame apple won't allow me to rate at zero so its a truly undeserved one star.Version: 1.1.3

Doesn't workNoooooo! I was so excited when this month's Stuff came through the door along with details of how, as a print subscriber, I could access the magazine on my IPad too. However, I gave been trying daily for 2 weeks now and am constantly told that there was a problem and to try later. To say i'm frustrated is an understatement. Please don't release these things without fully testing them. All you have done is make me go from viewing Stuff Magazine VERY favourably, to associating it with frustration and disappointment!.Version: 1.0.0

Does anyone from Stuff read these reviews??It seems unlikely as there is no comment from them about how awful the latest update is felt to be by literally everybody. It is no longer interactive in any way, despite still stating that it is in the description. It is like they have just scanned in the magazine pages, and is impossible to read without zooming in on the section of page you are reading. Quite apart from this it seems to "forget" that you have paid a subscription and tries to charge you again. When I tried to contact Stuff to find out why they said they no longer deal with the iPad version and told me I had to contact a 3rd party. Was a real pain to sort out. Unfortunately, I have prepaid for 12 months, but I wouldn't consider renewing unless it went back to its previous interactive format..Version: 23.6.4

Poor designI am not even going to mention about the magazine as PDF view. The thing that is stupid with this app is that it supports iPhone 5 but do not let you use the whole screen to view the magazine. This is just dumb..Version: 1.1.3

Had to keep re-downloadingHope this update fixes that but not willing to pay to find out.Version: 26.0.5

Latest issueHow come the paper version of this has been in the shops for a week but, we are still waiting for the september issue on the ipad. I have got previous issues on the 3rd of every month. Never had the App crash yet though..Version: 1.1.3

An ex-subscriber who stupidly gave Stuff a second chance!I left a 1 star review last week that was published but when when I visited the site today my previous review is now rated at 2 stars. Has someone from Stuff altered my score? This app is terrible but it's not nearly as bad as the lack of support from Stuff for those who have subscribed to their magazine. Like all the other recent reviewers I've had no feedback from Stuff. As a previous subscriber I really should have known better but in a moment of madness I decided to download the June 2013 issue. Surely a tech magazine would have fixed all the problems that have been reported by readers over the past few months. Not a chance. The June issue crashes as soon as you try to view it. From previous experience I know that there's no chance of receiving any contact from the publishers to say sorry or offer a refund. Do not bother attempting to download Stuff unless you enjoy wasting time and money..Version: 1.1.3

New update?I'm not really sure what they did, but this app is now terrible. Everything is too small and different parts of each page have to be zoomed in and out to be able to read it. It's like they were tired of making two versions—print edition and tablet edition—and just made the print version digital. No more scrolling up and down. No more tablet manipulation. Just flipping page by page just like print. Ruins the whole experience of being digital. Links also don't work. Lame..Version: 23.6.4

Constant app crashesTook out a years subscription with one month free trial. Unfortunately I have not been able to read any issues as the app crashes as soon as I try to open an issue. Cancelled subscription again. Shame.Version: 26.0.5

Disaster!Like many others I updated the app and now can't download anything new, I get stuck in a loop of endlessly entering my iTunes password, I can review the one old issue the update left me but can't get anything new. Annoyingly my subscription automatically renewed just before this and I was told I can't ave a refund, now I can't even get what I (unwillingly) paid for. Was this app written and tested by the same people who made such a disaster of the Times/Sunday Times app? If only there was a Gadget for testing apps......Version: 2.0

Rip OffITunes users beware - subscribed through iTunes for 6 months and the app won't let you view it after you've downloaded it. Asks you to register - that's a waste of time. Phone for support and was told that the app is not working properly and there is little that can be done until its addressed. Wish I knew that before blowing my money. It's not a scam - it's just a poorly designed app with major flaws leaving the customer feeling ripped off..Version: 1.1.2

Once the best gadget mag app going but now turned into a scanned low quality PDFs!!I have subscribed to stuff since it first came to the iPad. Over the years the app got better and better with really good interactive content etc. This latest update as has been mentioned has taken the app back to the beginning where it's just a pdf scan viewer. Totally cheesed off and have cancelled my auto subscription. Will move over to T3 when it expires..Version: 23.6.4

Nice app' and interactiveUPDATE - no longer works on IOS 8.1 on iPhone 6. Have cancelled my subscription until fixed as not working. -----WAS----- This app is lovely on my mini, I like the interactive and moving pages which helps bring the magazine to life. Pricing structure could be a little mre competetive as £28 for a year is a little high for a digital format but the effort put in is excellent. Over all very happy but only 4 as needs better pricing to get a 5*. And no no annoying pile of old magazines that I can't force myself to throw away rotting in the corner. All we need no is a Achive option to just see the magazines I bought but not downloaded, instead over an every magazine listing as time passes this is becoming a little less user friendly..Version: 3.2.1

Shocking update !!!Can't believe this is supposed to be a gadget magazine looking to future. This update has taken things back to the 90s. Stuff used to be interactive & could move around page and just, interact !! Now just a scanned page. Don't even get me started on past issues!! Same thing has happened with my Auto Express magazine. It seems this is a Pixelmags retrograde step. Well you've lost my money now suckers !!.Version: 23.6.4

Major issues don't buy this...After 3 major release in the last 3 months we still have download issues. i contacted support (what a waste of time that was). I found a work around to keep me going basically you switch to airplane mode and select portrait mode and lock in that mode until you have opened the new issue and scan all pages to the last page. after that it will work fine. for the price i pay I'm seriously not happy. DID i mention its cheaper to buy a paper version and move you subscription to iPad …...Version: 1.1.3

Shockingly poor serviceI have not been able to download my first issue, at first the massage on my iPad said "sorry cannot find file" then when that stopped appearing, the main red screen kept asking me for a subscriber number, which I haven't been given!! I have sent three emails to Stuff's "helpline" address and I've heard nothing. Well I'm sorry, Stuff, but people need to know how crap your service is! To stop them making the same mistake I have. SORT IT NOW! Or T3 will be laughing all the way to the bank..Version: 1.0.0

Dreadful updateI just got my monthly email saying that as a subscriber I can download the latest issue. The app wants me to pay £3.99 for the privilege to do so. So no point in subscribing if I have to pay twice! Since the update I lost access to all the issues I paid for over a good few years and now I can't download new ones either, so it now has ZERO functional use! So I have to waste my time complaining to sort it out. Woeful app and service all Al around..Version: 23.6.4

Looks lovely but is rubbishI love my stuff mag look forward to it each month read it from cover to cover and have been an subscriber for years so when I saw that it could have a tablet version I thought great! But I am yet to see it, as the sign in page won't except me as a subscriber, an email to the company for support has resulted in nothing. They clearly think that they can ignore me as I pay anyway. Well if your thinking of purchasing this just see how many of us this company has upset. They clearly think taking the money is enough They are not interested in sorting the problems. My suggestion is look elsewhere for a on line mag and stay away from this, if it works great but if not expect no support ..Version: 1.0.0

Do not buyDo not buy first off it's not US it's UK then I am on the job with no wifi for months so I read and this is wifi based I just want my money back. Not what I thought it was just cancel me please look I have owned this for 4 hrs and downloaded 4 pages just cancel my year and give me a refund please..Version: 2.1

No starsPeople be aware not to buy your subscription thought iTunes !!! I bought the one year subscription with a total of 37 us dollars I haven't bean able till now to download any issue it blocks at any stage and never want to continue ,by calling the publisher in England a person named Chris took my call and informed me it's because I bought it from iTunes !!!!! Sorry but what does it mean ??? That I am not suppose to trust putting money on iTunes any more ... Funny as it is I tried from my email confirmation of purchase to click on the report problem icon in blue that was directing me to I tune store and with one massage all the time cannot connect to iTunes !!!!! All the time tried over 20 times , now I am waiting to see if the publisher will be disent enough to help me with my problem ,or they will bounce me back to iTunes which seems to be impossible to report the problem too and good buy my 37 dollars subscription .. Just wanted to help any one who is about to loose money like me.Version: 1.1.1

BadWhen you subscribe for a magazine, it is probably because there is one or few more things that you truly like about it. Something unique. Well, i liked stuff top 10's and i always used it for reference whenever comparing gadgets. However, stuff suddenly decided to remove consoles top ten's and drones top 10's!!! That totally blew it off for me and i regret subscribing already! In addition to the above, they no more have interesting reviews. They no more give scores. It is hard for me to understand/justify why would any gadget guy/girl subscribe for this!!.Version: 24

Buy the Hard copy!!I used to buy the hard copy but got the digital copy as it was cheeper and i thought would be easier to have it downloaded when the new copy was released each month but the App has stopped updating and i have been unable to download the latest magazine! the Customer services are awful and not helpful at all! and they won't even say when the digital copy will be released. I would avoid the App until they fix it but that does not seen very likely..Version: 1.1.3

Library issues goneWFT! I've paid for a subscription since 2013. I've always had access to previous months issues. Sometimes I'm a couple of months behind because I'm a very busy person and I forget to read the magazine. I have been reading a copy of Stuff from a couple of months ago and I went back this morning to carry on reading and I can access any back issue. I can only read this months issue. If this is how it's going to be from now on I'm going to cancel the subscription. It's a con. If I bought this magazine in the shops I could look back on the issue as much as I wanted. So why can't I do this in the app. Great update, I have to pay for all back issues from now on even though I've already paid for them. Nothing like keeping customers happy. I understand it's not possible to have every back issue available, that would be madness but surely there is a middle ground, say 6 months. Sort it out otherwise I'm a gonna and I'm sure many others will cancel there subscription too..Version: 23.6.4

Can't even download sampler!I've tried loads of times but I can't even download the sampler why would I pay for any issues? Please sort this out I love your magazine but deff not loving this!.Version: 1.0.0

The update is terribleWith the update you have managed to take my favourite magazine and completely stuff it up to the point of me now deleting the app altogether.Version: 25.0.1

Nothing in U.S. $Not sure if you can get the advertised items in the U.S. it's like a Sharper Image catalog subscription for the U.K..Version: 1.1.3
