✓ Simple and effective!I really love this app. I just wish the UI when playing videos would look much more nicer on iPh X. The top and bottom bars don’t reach to the sides of the phone and it’s a bit uneasy to look at on X. Also the subtitles will just stuck there when you fast forward a video. If i want the subtitles right,I had to close the video and forward it to where i want. ✓ First impressions: Best App for viewing NAS photosI’ve got millions of photos on a NAS. When using Files, or the manufacturer-supplied App for viewing photos on there from my iPad is just painfully slow. Using this File Manager suddenly makes the experience easy. It’s easy to find the NAS shares, sort the folders in multiple ways, and then switch between a list and a gallery, but the key factor is that thumbnail generation is really quick, and it doesn’t seem to paralyse performance on the iPad whilst doing it. There’s a “pro” mode you can upgrade to, but the Free version seems to have everything that you absolutely need and it’s not too naggy about upgrading, like many other apps..Version: 11.0.2

This app allows me to easily connect to my samba shares, supports Dropbox, Googledrive, OneDrive and FTP file transfers. The app removes the apparent apple ecosystem constraints by allowing me to access my data on my Linux server in a nice easy to use graphical interface. I noticed the app supports own cloud. ✓ Powerful, and solid supportI was using this as a replacement for Music app because Apple Music doesn’t do what I want it to do, and VLC sometimes won’t show my music. But I washabing trouble in Owlfiles playing back AIFF files. The support team was able to help me fix this issue by adding it as an associated filetype in Settings! I’ve also grown more and more impressed with the app as I’ve used it. ✓ An Indispensable Tool for Routine ActivitiesI have been using File Explorer for 4 or 5 years and have really gotten a lot from it. I have a home based server on which I have music, videos and documents and I have File Explorer on my iPhone. I can be anywhere in the world and access any of those files. One of the best features is to pull up a video and airplay it to a TV. I have a VPN and File Explorer has a link which allows me to make a connection easily without having to remember logins and passwords. If airplay isn’t available then I can connect an HDMI to the phone and connect directly to the TV. File Explorer is very stable and I can’t recall anytime that it hasn’t worked flawlessly!.Version: 9.2

✓ Good app, but can become betterI've used this to transfer files to my local FTP server and it was working as expected.. up until the new L&F and name change. A few things I've found recently, mostly useful for the devs: - FTP transfer speeds are wrong. I can see photos or videos copying quickly, yet the reported transfer rate is under 1KBps - Low impact: my target drive had become full, yet the copying stopped with no error (this was an FTP upload operation). Can we report the appropriate error when this happens? - Enhancement request: I always copy files from a cetain date in the past to the most recent one (sorted alphabetically). To select the files I want, I nees to select the first one and keep swiping my finger left and right at the bottom of the screen so the viewport scrolls and files are selected. Needless to say this is quite tedious when dealing with lots of files. Could we add a feature allowing users to pick the first file and the last file, and select everything in between? ✓ Excellent AppI have Synology NAS and I wanted an app that could display thumbnails and full pictures on both the NAS using my own directory structure as well as on my IPAD. I tried at least six different apps and none of them filled the bill. I also have a lot of music stored on the NAS and I can quickly search my music to get anything in the title. I had also always had the artist in the title so I can quickly search for the artist. The app plays the music or will automatically stream pictures to my IPAD or television through my IPAD. ✓ Good features, seems reliableThis provides a great way to save photos etc from my phone directly onto the USB storage built into my home internet router (a FritzBox ), from where we can access them from other laptops etc. To do the file transfer is not as intuitive as it could be: e.g rather than using the usual iOS ‘Share/Forward’ icon when viewing a photo, you have to go into the FE app, look in the Browse area and choose the ‘Edit’ option. ✓ Very helpful appI got a WD MYCLOUD which just stopped the remote access on the app , so I needed an app to connect to my drive and this is simple and works flawlessly, it’s good as I can access the films on the drive and airplay them from my iPad to my Apple TV no problem, a lot cheaper than upgrading the WD MYCLOUD drive which they recommend me doing which is a con. I will probably upgrade to the pro version in the future as it can play multiple video formats , but for the time it’s been a life saver, highly recommend..Version: 11.0.2

✓ Great for managing network files and playing MP3’sVery nice app. I use it to move and manage files on my Windows server and to play MP3’s. Only a few things make it a 4, not a 5. 1. It’s too easy to move a folder or file to a folder. Very similar to the scroll flick. Wish it gave an “are you sure?”. 2. I wish it remembered where I was playing a song or where I was browsing for the next time I open the app. A resume or even a “most recent” file/folder list. 3. I wish there was a “play the next folder” continue option along with repeats. As it is, I can’t play more than an album at once from the folders. Other than those three issues, I have no complaints. In fact, if those three were fixed, I’d probably pay for the full version. As it is, I’m still searching. But, those are nit picky... If you need network file management, this is worth the download. ✓ Best of breedAfter having downloaded a number of ios file browser and management apps without a doubt this is the best. Usability it is good, maybe no different from any other. In terms of file formats that it handles this has no equal. I can't find a video for at it can not handle. I can load it up with all my docs, PDFs, videos and music, and it can push the through to what ever program I whatnot to view or manipulate them in. ✓ Great for accessing external drivesReally annoying having an iPhone which the salespeople at O2 could my help me with. Found this app recommended after Googling a few times and it totally works. Also above, it is great for accessing our external hard drive so that we can drag and drop music files and pictures instead of going through the laptop, opening iTunes, making a playlist, syncing the phone and waiting a million years for music to transfer. I am not a huge fan of iCloud usage and don’t want to buy storage all the time and keep all my albums that way so this is perfect for keeping a few albums I can easily change through our WiFi..Version: 7.0.3

✓ Excellent tool for WHS networkI downloaded this app to see if it would stream media from my WHS PC. Upgraded to full version to unlock media playback formats. The only configuration was to enter the WHS user password! Video and audio stream well, HD content gets abit slow and jerky, but im only using ipod touch 2G. ✓ Great for using file sharesThis is a great utility for what it claims to do: browse and use files on file shares. I use it with SMB (Windows) shares, although everything works so well I have no reason to think that the others wouldn't work great as well. Only problem with it is I see little reason so for to upgrade to Pro other than getting rid of the nag message. ✓ Good but doesn’t really “transfer” filesFile Explorer is the best file manager I’ve found to work with my NAS. However, it doesn’t really “transfer” files to the NAS, it can only copy them leaving me to remember which files I copied in order to manually delete them. It doesn’t even leave the selected files “checked” after the copy process is done (not the best solution but better than my memory)! I’m still waiting for an update that will transfer pics and files which is absolutely necessary in order to manage storage on my iPad and iPhone!
