Delectable - Scan & Rate Wine for Negative User Reviews

Was good, now a lot worseThis app started out great and identified most wines automatically. Those it didn't recognised were manually added by the team very promptly (often within minutes). Now that the company has been acquired, it seems they don't care about service any more. I'm getting more unrecognised wines, and three recent ones have been sitting there unidentified by the team for more than a week. Useless. The app also crashes when I try to use the 'Send feedback' option. Give us some service!!.Version: 5.7.1

I will like it when...You don't NEED to access my contacts to show that I am sharing wine with a friend. My significant other and I follow each other, yet unless we BOTH share ALL of our contacts with you, we cannot show we are sharing a bottle. Making us share our entire address books with you as a prerequisite for drinking wine together will soon be prohibitive..Version: 5.7.1

Downhill fastThis was my favourite app that I used all the time until they sold. Now ads all over, have to pay to get “premium features”. Bad functionality, find it is miss identifying wines more and more. So disappointing..Version: 5.7.7

Put my private data online along with my full name and pictureIf you want to use this app, do so at your own risk— do not assume they will behave with professionalism or integrity. Delectable developed an online store to sell wine. After several years of using this app, they began to use my notes, alongside my full name and picture. I had, by then, amassed a large library of wines that included not only my own thoughts and judgements about wines but also personal notes— on what occasions I’d drank wines, with whom, what we’d done. To opt individual wines out of this process, you needed to individually mark each wine as private— they provided no default status for a user’s entire account and there was no option to go back and mark older wines as private. Changing my name in the profile also did not fix this problem. I was horrified to learn that, if someone googled me, these hits created the first ten or so pages of a google search history— overwhelming any pages related to my career in the non-profit industry, creating issues of trust and doubts about my professionalism for my clients. My first few requests to take this down were ignored. Eventually they took most of them down, but it took months..Version: 5.8

Keeps you trappedI have no idea how to delete my account. Nothing on website. In app. In help Naughty !.Version: 5.9.5

Aussie,Aussie,Aussie,oh,oh,ohVery good label recognition, just a shame the "get price" function never seems to work in Down under in OZ guess this is due to being more Americian focused, I had the idea to make an app like this a few years ago but never knew how to go about it, do I'm happy to say the so far it lives up to everything I wanted to put into an app like this. Good job guys..Version: 5.5

Great idea. Just wish it worked for meI'm on a 5S running 8.0.2. Try to use camera to snap labels you get black screen for a second or two. Then app crashes. Have deleted and reloaded to no avail. :(.Version: 4.0.3

Not as good since they add the adsThat was one of my favorite app until they decide to put annoying ads..Version: 5.7.5

Pop-up video adsPop-up video ads? That's a little much. I can deal with small ads. But I entered a wine and a video popped up and played while a count down appeared in the upper corner. Sooooooo annoying! I can't do it. I don't mind paying for apps. I do it all the time. But this feels more like a threat. Pay up or else we will torture you with annoying video pop-up ads. So forget it..Version: 5.7.5

Good appThe app works well. I use it a lot for checking wines I’m going to buy and it’s a great way to keep track of the wines I like and when I had them so I can get them again. My only complaint is if the wine I am drinking does not match the wines on the list I can’t save it or review it, otherwise it works well.Version: 5.9.4

Needs workCool app but it needs to work better. The wine identification works pretty well from a photo but if you don’t have a photo, the search doesn’t work very well. Also 10% of the wine I’ve had lately has not been in Delectable, and I just have an option to “request an expert review”, which seemingly never does anything. I should be able to set the wine details manually if they’re not in the tool. The location search feature is unusable, basically if you set the location while you’re there, it will work, but if you write the review later then you have no chance of finding the right location. Also, there is no way to edit the location of an existing review. Finally it would be nice if we could click things about the wine instead of writing everything in text. For example why can’t I click bubbles to describe common flavors? Similarly maybe slide bars for tannins, acid, and a slider from dark to red fruit..Version: 5.9.4

Good AppIt's a useful app but i find that it's only used every now and then and not all the time. To fully appreciate this app you have to use it all the time. otherwise it is really good.Version: 4.0.2

Doesn’t work as well as I would hope.On the plus side, the interface is nice and it’s easy to snap a picture of the bottle label. I’d like to see a bit of image processing to “flatten” the label to make it more readable. There’s no real organization options for the wines you’ve snapped and rated. A lot of the time the auto-identify doesn’t really work; it gives me similar wines by the same producer, but not what I’ve snapped. It means I have to manually edit the wine identity way more than I’d like. The estimated price is a nice feature when it works. However my biggest complaint is that I’d really like to be able to find a place to buy the wines I discover, but Delectable almost never can find a supplier. I end up having to use google to find somewhere to buy the wine. It would be good to be able to “follow” a favorite wine for deals or sales. I really wanted to like this app but I ended up just using it less and less over the years..Version: 5.8

Avoid at all costs1. You cannot delete your account. Literally the feature doesn’t exist, and they don’t have any help pages. 2. The app will spam you multiple times a week with random BS. 3. There are significantly better wine tracking apps; the best part about those is you can actually export your data or backup!! 3.a if you have a large collection I would NOT recommend this app for longevity. This is putting your data in a proprietary vault that you cannot take anything out of. Like a wine bottle with no opening!.Version: 5.9.3

Only in AmericaGood app, however needs to be more inclusive to other users: app will not accept Canadian postal-codes..Version: 5.7.1

Good!I think this app is extremely helpful and just great, I give it 3 stars..Version: 3.1.2

Pretty goodSeems to work well, identifying wine and letting you rate it. Should be good next time I'm in the shops. But it would be good to be able to record things like price last purchased at, location etc. Also would be good to get a community rating for a particular bottle without having to follow someone?.Version: v2.7

Ok if you are a yankYet another example of how the yanks walk around with blinkers on ignoring anywhere and anyone outside the USA..Version: v2.9.5

Can’t add wine that App does not recogniseSorry, but pointless if you can’t add a wine manually if the App does not recognise the label.Version: 5.9.4

Where is my negative reviewSent 2 weeks ago. Do you only upload positive reviews..Version: 3.1.2

Why do I need an account?!?What’s the point in having an App on my phone if I need to create an account to be able to use it? Deleted as soon as it asked me to create an account....Version: 5.9.3

Australian pricing needed.Semi useful, but really does need a price guide for the Australian market before it's of real benefit to me..Version: 4.0.3

USA OnlyOnly good if you live in the U.S. Not sure why they would publish worldwide.Version: v2.9.7

Can’t search un-rated winesAs far as I can tell, if I don’t rate the wine, it doesn’t come up in my search results. That makes the app very unhelpful when I’m just trying to see if I’ve actually had the wine before (regardless of whether I rated it or not or have my own tasting notes or not). For the developer response - that’s not true. I show something like 182 wines. But when I click on the number of wines, only about 15 come up. I don’t know what is meant by “completely published your post”. All I know is that not all the wines I’ve saved are searchable. Which makes this app almost useless. And now it’s unintuitive as well since apparently I have to “completely publish” my post for it to be visible. What does that even mean?.Version: 5.8.2

Never again,I placed an order with your company on February 9th 2022. Was told that it would be delivered to me by February 13th 2022. And because of FedEx service! I just received my order today. And there is ice inside the bottle as well. I have spent over (4 Hours!) just trying to get this package delivered from FedEx. I will not ever again order anything from your Company because of this. (PS.) And FedEx had ALL of the information that they needed, & someone over the adage of (21) was home EVERY DAY!!..Version: 5.9.5

What's with the ads? This was a good App until the last update. The ads are very annoying..Version: 5.7.5

Nice but ads are in the wayNice but ads are in the way, otherwise a decent app to keep what you have tried..Version: 5.7.7

Where is my cellarAll my cellar was on this apps. Now I only see adds, but no information about my cellar. Too bad. I will go back to Excel..Version: 5.7.7

Privacy issuesAt no point I was made aware my profile was public. The next thing I know was a Google search with my full name, two bottles of wine, as the top 3 result. There was no option to make private or delete my profile on the website. And I had to download the app just to make my profile private. However, I am still not able to remove my information entirely. What an egregious violation of privacy!.Version: 5.9.5

DecentI have had so many issues with trying to search for a wine when snapping a picture of the label. It seems to be able to find the wine a little over half the time even though I am always sure to take good, clear photos of wine that is generally pretty popular. I like the ability to log it but I wish it functioned more like Untapped does for beer. So many great features..Version: 5.9.3

Latest update is an overzealous cash grabIt was only a matter of time before there was a push to this app into a money maker. I just wish they were a little more subtle about it. Not only was there a full screen ad waiting for me I opened it after updating, but there are various ads and premium ads scattered throughout. The sleek design is ruined. A real disappointment..Version: 5.7.5

How can one delete their account? How can one delete their account? There doesn’t seem to be an option..Version: 5.9.3

Clever App but......It finds the wine and is clever, but after 20+ attempts to buy different bottles it is always 'sold out' - which I know it isn't because I can buy the same bottle elsewhere online or locally. So on balance, clever, but hopeless for backend connection to buy any wine. Sadly this is the developer's loss more than the user's. But I hope you get it fixed..Version: 5.3

Too much emphasis on social mediaI wanted an app to help me learn about and enjoy wine. Registering with this one has been one long nuisance as they seemed only interested in accessing my contacts and social media. Pressing the NO button to that question made no difference. Doubt I'll use it much as I'm so irritated by that..Version: 4.0

Good but not quite thereGreat looking app and I like the photo recognition but it needs the function to allow to add wines that you remember you like but haven't seen the bottle and to find out a bit more about the wine as a sommelier would tell you..Version: 3.4

No reviewI do not do reviews.Version: 5.8.7

I can’t delete my accountMy data has been made public and I can’t delete my account. I wouldn’t recommend..Version: 5.9.5

MehCrashes a lot complaining of low memory, but it's the only app open after a reboot. Could only identify 2 of the 4 bottles I tested it with, getting the grape wrong for one of those. Nice idea, but why put it on the UK appstore if they don't have a database of what wine is on sale here..Version: 4.0

Check price?I have had the app for yonks and I like it but the “Check price” never works any more. Am I missing something?.Version: 5.9.5

Ads ruin a good thing. As usualI’d like someone to figure out a business model that doesn’t involve throwing flashing, annoying, device-crippling ads in my face..Version: 5.7.6

Doesn't seem to workHad to go through a registration process just in order to see the app - then scanned in two test wines. Been an hour now and both still showing as 'being identified' without any conclusion. Other apps are immediate so not sure if this version of the app has some terminal bug. Not much use for now..Version: 3.2

Corked appThis was a great app now you have to push past adds to not find the wine you’re looking at. Sad to see all my old saved wine shots go but this is an uninstall job now..Version: 5.7.7

Amateur winoGreat app. Behind-the-scenes guys are super responsive, which really makes it..Version: 5.7

BuggyOn the plus side, love the equivalent of a 100pt scale. I know what a 9.4 wine is. On the downside, the recent addition of the ads is super annoying. And the app is really buggy. I have reached out before and gotten no response. On my old and new phones I have stopped getting notifications, yet am set up to get them. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app to no avail. A little frustrating..Version: 5.8

Download vivinoSimply second-best. Last time are used this you could only write a wine between 6/10 to 10 out of 10. If I didn't enjoy a wine I'd have to give it a six! Vivino scans wine lists in restaurants and comes back with your best option. Delectable comes a very poor second.Version: 5.6.2

Excellent app right up until the last updateRidiculously intrusive adverts inserted recently. What a shame.Version: 5.7.5

Needs Australian pricing and recommendationsIf I were American this would be great however being Australian I'm not able to use everything this app has to offer. It is still handy to keep track of what you have drank though..Version: 4.0.3

Ok.. wish I could search my ownThis is a great app to learn about wines, so easy with just a screenshot. It’s great to be able to rate and make my own notes. Where it fails is, once I’ve snapped, rated and saved, good luck finding it again. It’s a huge pain to scroll through all 200 wines I’ve saved to find the one I’m looking for. If there’s a way to search my personal list, it’s not very obvious...on the app or the website. Kinda makes it useless from that perspective. Thinking about going back to my spreadsheet method, at least there I can sort by various methods to find what I’m looking for..Version: 5.8.2

All hype no actionIt’s impossible to write a review when I have only 10 minutes previously downloaded the apps ...Version: 5.9.5

Details not workingJust downloaded and the first two actions I tried didn’t work. 1. Tried to look at the wine price of the wine that was traced from my photo (as the button claimed it could do).... just spinning wheel. 2. Tried to make a comment on my uploaded wine photo (as the comment icon was meant to do) and got an error. I guess this app is old and unsupported now! Such a shame, it was just what I’ve been looking for....Version: 5.9.4

How to ruin a good appGreat, they've "upgraded" the app with a constant barrage of noisy, irritating pop-up ads that have nothing to do with wine. Of course you can pay a monthly fee to avoid the ads, no thanks. I'd have paid a one-time fee as with many apps, but I'm not going to pay $72 a year for the privilege of using their app, so as with many other users it's time for me to delete Delectable and find a wine app not full of trashy advertising..Version: 5.7.5

Disappointing after premium optionHave relied on and loved this app for years. Convenient, informative, good UI. With the recent option to upgrade to premium ($72 a year to access pro reviews and no ads? LOL) it's become a huge disappointment. Ads, constant upgrade offers. I'd pay for an ad-free version but get real with the pricing. Lost its class, now looking for a new app..Version: 5.7.5

$8.5 per month for what? This app has a long way to go before it can demand AU$102 per annum. Glitches, freezing, unresponsive and unrecognised wines. I'll stick with the horrifically unrelated adds on the free version..Version: 5.7.5

It might be user error.....But it has recognized 1 in 20 labels I’ve tried..Version: 5.8.2

Useful way to archive winesUPDATE: I no longer see countless wines posted by a single user, but Delectable seems to have adopted the move, posting multiple reviews that force scrolling to find wines by individual users. Indirect way to promote sponsors, perhaps, even if some selections may be of interest. Ick. — earlier review... Like ability to keep record of wine and notes, and learn of other possibilities. When wine doesn't match and you submit review request, either reviewers don't exist, or they don't pay enough attention to correct. Frustrating. I also wonder if it might be possible to limit how many wines any one person can post on any given day. When someone seems to post 50+ reviews in a single setting, it overwhelms a feed, making it hard to see/find other reviews. If nothing else, it would be useful to be able to block those who do such review dumps..Version: 5.8.2

Meh!Seems a great opportunity to tie a heap of disparate details together for public however implementation is cursory..Version: 2.6

Well done.**moved on to your competition. Clearly greed combined with a horrible software developer department is a clear sign of the end of this once enjoyable app. I gave it a try and stuck around for way to long waiting for you to come to you senses. Bye bye! **bring your price down and I will stick around. Ads horrible and cheapens the app. No longer a leader in the wine app world. Will wait for a short while and give up if not redesigned to the excellence it once was. A fab way to keep track of what you like. Love the interface. Does need to be able to categorize wines on regions better. When there is not a category, it just does not list in the region. But all in all, this is the top app for wine collectors..Version: 5.8
