Leonardo da Vinci: Anatomy for Positive User Reviews

RNLove this app the drawings are as they were Leonardo was a genuine artist and a person long before his time. As a nurse I treasure his work and read through this app frequently.Version: 1.1.1

The best da Vinci appSimply put: this is the best da Vinci app ever. Do yourself a favor and get it. I love it!.Version: 1.1.4

StunningA beautifully produced title full of informative text and narrative that really brings the anatomical drawings of the great master to life. The ability to study these drawings at close hand and in high resolution is wonderful and with the added ability to 'decode' Leonardo's own notes makes this app truly unique. I like the juxtaposition of the drawings and the modern 3D visualisations but I'm not sure they add that much to the understanding of the drawings and Leonardo's great skill as a scientist and artist. What they do try to do is demonstrate how accurate his direction and observational studies really where and this is truly staggering and thought provoking. Touch Press set the bar quite high for these types of iPad apps. Well done.Version: 1.0.2

GreatThis is a great app to marvel at. You can earn anatomy, marvel at da Vinci's brilliance, and explore the human body like never before!.Version: 1.1.2

SupurbI was hesitant - it seemed a bit dear for just an app. Luckily, it is well worth the pricetag. Beautiful, detailed, and delightful.Version: 1.0.2

Outstanding appFor any lover of Leonardo art or drawing the human form, this app is outstanding. Well documented, excellent graphics and I love the mirror, to enable viewing his writings the corrects way around. Absolutely excellent..Version: 2.0.0

Leonardo anatomyOutstanding apps. Especially super on the apple iPad 3 Best apps I have purchased. It meets all expectations!!.Version: 1.0.2

Great Job!An Amazing resource for those who are fans of Leonardo da Vinci (or even if you're not). The user interface is so elegant with a clever use of text, diagrams, and translations, and video. I definitely put this one on the top ten list. Note: If sound from the videos featured throughout the app does not play through the iPad's internal speakers, check your audio settings by double clicking on the home button and scrolling to the left to deselect the mute sound button. Congratulations to the developers!!.Version: 1.0.2

Fantastic - like a museum in your handA very engaging book on Leonardo's anatomical studies, but it's hard to just call it a book. Terrific use of interactive elements let you examine the drawings closely and it never comes off as overly gimmicky. Although there are a few parts about Leonardo's other work, such as "the last supper" it is still in the context of how the anatomy guided his drawing. All the famous ones you would expect such as Vitruvean Man are here, but many others I've never seen. Carefully laid out, easy to explore, and takes advantage of the Retima display -- very impressive.Version: 1.0.2

Great collectionWell presented, thorough and insightful. I love how the works not only highlight Leonardo da Vinci's brilliance but also his flaws and the views of the time. There's so much detail and depth woven in text, images, videos and animations making this app a great experience. The developers took the time to make this app look and work great. Great tribute to a man 500 years ahead of his time..Version: 1.0.2

The story of a geniusAn incredible and accurate depiction in words and drawings of the most famous architect, artist, and anatomical professional ever to walk the earth. Even for the price of 14$ I could not imagine not having this application after using it. If you have even a small interest in anatomical and historical information, then please buy this app. A note to the creators: Please make an app similar to this one except on Leonardo da Vince's achievements on architectural advancements..Version: 1.0.2

Leonardo de VinciAbsolutely superb, thank you to the team that did the work. It sets a very high standard to what can be achieved educationally with the iPad. Please will someone do the same for his mechanical and scientific works. JCC.Version: 1.0.2

Brilliance meets BrillianceNot only are the reproductions gorgeous and the research intriguing, intelligent, thorough and clearly presented, but the technology is brilliant, well integrated and beautifully designed. I want the same team to design an app for da Vinci's Codex, Caravaggio's paintings, Picasso's oeuvre, Berenice Abbott's New York photography, and onward. Like da Vinci's art and research, this app should be the starting point and touch stone for how one designs art history apps for the future..Version: 1.0.2

Fascinating journey !I wish you have more apps like this with gorgeous illustration , astound design , ... iPad 12.9 resolution . Cheers.Version: 1.1.4

Amazing, Charming, Simple AppI've explored this application thoroughly. The design is minimalist and pleasing. The drawings are high quality, and the explorative elements are a joy. The history is nice, especially as it ties into the anatomical studies. It's definitely one of the nicest applications on the App Store, worth much more than average. A+.Version: 1.1.4

BeautifulBeing a fan of Leonardo DiVinci for some time...I had to buy this. No regrets...the price tag is quite expensive but is worth every penny if you love his stuff..Version: 1.1.1

The First Essential "Art Book" AppAs a passionate lover of "real" art books, I've been skeptical about whether an app would ever come close. Well? "Leonardo da Vinci: Anatomy" has, and it goes further. Featuring ALL 268 pages from the show of at the Royal Collection, London, in super sharp retina display ready resolution, complete with the ability to zoom in, and translate Leonardo's famous "backwards" notations, it's a true treasure trove for art lovers, art students, as well as those in medical fields. It's a benchmark for other art book/new media publishers, and I look forward to seeing what this infant medium of art apps will produce going forward. It's so exceedingly well done that it's probably a more complete experience than an attendee to the actual show will get, which makes probably missing it in person a lot easier to take, while providing a lasting reference and ongoing learning experience..Version: 1.0.2

Amazing Example of a Reference Book on iPadVery well done! The higher-quality images in this application, are very inspiring. Especially, with the original, and you the options on some of the images. I am very glad I found this application, as it focuses on one of Leonardo's best subjects..Version: 1.0.2

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟WOW!!!!!!👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏Wow this is such an unbelievable application!!!!! I have yet to see any other app like it. It is by far the best one that own. It's so intricate with details. I love how you can interact with the drawings. It's better than any schoolbook or artbook I've learned from. I've been drawing caricatures for a living for the past 12 years and I'd have to say that this app has helped me tremendously. I'd recommend it to just about anyone in the "art field” or “medical field” who needs to learn about the human anatomy. Well done to you ever put this app together. I can't thank you enough. “Incredible” is an understatement..Version: 1.0.2

AmazingTruly the best book on the iPad,Wonderful all round,And truly must have for anyone interested in Human Biology..Version: 1.0.2

BananasThis book takes all the elements of design art and information and presents it in the most engaging way possible. Bravo. Although I don't know if it's just me but the audio on the videos are not working. Ipad3.Version: 1.0.2

Leo AppMy Leonardo Anatomy just finished downloading (you may have to wait quite a while, for me almost 4 hours!) but it is well worth the wait because this app is AMAZING!!! You will not be disappointed. The quality of delivery (pictures, video and story) is superb! I do not live in the UK and I would've been sad to miss an exhibit like this, now I can carry it with me at all time. Who ever created this App... BRAVO!!.Version: 1.0.2

Best Anatomy OverviewHistory and human anatomy come together in an application ideally suited to the iPad. Powerful, interesting, and moving..Version: 1.1.4

No sound, againAs beautiful as this is, I am getting sick and tired of apps from London (and, yes, they're only from London) where the sound doesn't bloody work. Didn't work with the Museum of London's Dickens app. Doesn't work with this. The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars is that Da Vinci's content is so majestic, it transcends this silliness. But get the bloody sound to work..Version: 1.0.2

BeautifulThe creators did a wonderful job of bringing together the history, artistry, and life of Leonardo Da Vinci. The images are stunning. The videos with the experts view and insight is a nice bonus- (would have loved more). The interactive pages will definitely have one paying closer attention to the details of Da Vinci's illustrations of anatomy. As an artist and a scientist myself - exploring this book makes me smile because it shows the origins of what is medical illustration today. To be able to take the biography and works of Leonardo Da Vinci wherever one goes...amazing. Invaluable to library of any artist and scientist..Version: 1.0.2

Stunning! What a tremendous work! The combination of the amazing work by Leonardo da Vinci and modern technology was terrific. The piece helps us to get inside the mind of one of history's greatest artists. What monumental challenges he had to face to be able to create such a record at that time. He had such drive to learn. So sad that the work was not in use in the early days of medicine. His findings were not published till so much later. Thank you..Version: 1.0.2

It's overwhelming it's so beautifulI am nearly speechless with how amazed I am at this app. I read a review on a blog and after much thought decided to take a chance on a fourteen dollar app. It is beautifully presented, elegant and thorough. If you an artist and want to study the brush strokes and lines, then it's exceptional. There's lots of information and the 3d interactive anatomy illustrations are brilliantly done. I don't even want to see it all in one sitting because I want to savor it! Seriously, if you are an artist, this is a must have! Only complaint is I really dislike the sounds and can't see where you can turn them off. They are annoying and interrupt the elegance of the book. But it's not a deal breaker. Lovely piece of work..Version: 1.0.2

AmazingI love this book it shows the art of the possible for digital publishing, the interactive features are understated and not gimicky but genuinly add value I was reluctant to play 9.99 but it really is value for money For me I am informed and hsve been able to. Use the dr awings for practicing my own drawing I look forward to more good quality interactive media.Version: 1.0.2

This is why you bought an iPadApps like this turn your iPad into something truly special. The complete collection of anotomical drawings of Leonardo da Vinci, in full high resolution retina glory, in your hands? Are you kidding me? This is an incredible collection of science and art, presented in a beautifully designed app. It's more than a book could ever hope to give you, in a package far more personal and accessible than a web site. Don't balk at the price. You'll spend more time with this app, and get far more out of it, than the last 25 .99 cent apps you bought combined. Wow, just wow..Version: 1.0.2

Art plus Tech recreating a superlative inteligenceProbably the best executed app for Art and Medicine, beautiful images and interface. For my is one of the top five in all the store..Version: 1.0.2

Leonardo's drawings brought to life!Stellar, Amazing, astonishingly interactive peak int the mind and study by one of humanities greatest!.Version: 1.1.0

Superb bookIf only other publishers would follow this perfect example of electroic book....Version: 1.0.2

SpectacularA truly remarkable app that combines high quality imagines, thoughtful commentary and imaginative tools to explore anatomy. It's a marvelous window into one of the greatest minds in history..Version: 1.1.4

BeautifulBest reference I have had on the Anatomy of a human!.Version: 1.0.2

Incredible and beautifulI was very impressed with the detail and information presented in this app. The toggle between the original writings by da Vinci on the sides of the drawings and an English translation overlay is by itself worth the price of this app. Beautiful, and wonderfully done..Version: 1.1.4

Wonderful!Love it.Version: 1.1.4

UnrealI teach human anatomy and this is absolutely amazing - and WAY underpriced. Bravissimo!.Version: 1.0.2

Lovely, but large (2 Gb)Still waiting for it to finish loading....Version: 1.1.4

Why can't all books be like this?Bought the app after visiting the exhibition at Queen's Gallery. Both superb if you like Leonardo's drawings. Originals are really brought to life with the app, being able to zoom in, look at mirrored view of his writing and have his text translated on the drawings all fantastic in helping me understand his anatomy work. Information button also provides a pop up explanation of each drawing. Again really helpful in providing immediate focussed information. There are also some interactive images alongside a text by the curator of Windsor library on Leonardo's life and work with video snippets from experts talking about his work. I thought the first few reviews were from 'sponsored' reviewers but the app was on display at the exhibition and after a quick play I bought it the minute I got home, it made the physical book look quite staid and boring, and it really does make you realise what they could do to bring books alive! By far the most I've spent on an app but is good value if you treat it as the high quality book you are really purchasing and it won't get dusty on your bookshelf!.Version: 1.0.2

Nice!I got this app to inspire me in my figure drawing class, yes you heard right, and boy DID IT!!! But it also made me realize I'm interested in daVinci from a historical and LIFE perspective as well -- THIS was his passion, and he just did other art to "support his habit" and oh, the mirror is kewl!.Version: 1.0.2

Absolutely amazingThis app shows that there was no stone left unturned when piecing this app together. Great, clean and easy user interface The most amazing app I have ever bought I would happily pay $100 for this app!!!.Version: 1.0.2

Abolutely Magnificent!Ditto to what everybody has said! The high detail and resolution allows maximum zoom yet the image is still crisp and clear. I can actually study his pen, pencil and brush stroke technique!!! MOST EXCELLENT!!!! Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci is my favorite historical figure with maybe the exception of Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni..Version: 1.0.2

Just wonderfullSublime - the future of publishing..Version: 1.0.2

Da Vinci anatomyTruly and utterly marvellous. It would be worth buying an iPad just for this app. Fabulous material, of course, but the presentation is beautiful too, with detailed zoom, mirror facility to read the original writing, instant translation, even a UV view. App of the decade..Version: 1.0.2

Brilliant! A must own for anyone interested in art or anatomy. This is the future of art catalogues. With the complete drawings from the Royal Library Windsor Castle, the ability to really zoom in to see details, translations of the all texts, and other interactive elements make the price of $13.99 seem a bargain. I own The Metropolitan Museum of Art soft cover catalogue that reproduces a selection of the Windsor Castle collection that was shown in 1984. There are only 8 color reproductions - the rest are in black and white. The cost was $19.95 almost thirty years ago. I also own the 1992 hard cover book "Leonardo Da Vinci, The Anatomy of Man" published by The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston with 82 illustrations and 59 of those in color as they proudly point out. Lovely if incomplete book that cost me $40 at the time of the show. I am happy to have both of these on my bookshelf but they pale in comparison to this app. I hope other institutions will follow this example and produce art catalogues for the iPad with this high attention to craft, detail and ease of use. And I will be there as a costumer..Version: 1.0.2

GorgeousA fantastic app. I have been enamoured of Leonardo's drawings since I came across them in a library aged 5 and they took my breath away. At the intersection of art and science, they continue to inspire me decades later. This app combines textual descriptions with multimedia and user interaction. You can expand the drawings and read Leonardo's famous mirror writing in translation or simply marvel at the careful cross hatching and shading that create the multi-level 3D illusion. Leonardo was ahead of his time with these anatomical studies, even spotting how the aorta really functions, something not rediscovered until the beginning of the 20C. It's a bit pricey, but apps don't come much better than this. You'll pore over it again and again..Version: 1.0.2

WOW - just buy it!This was my first interactive book, and I bought it based on the great reviews, and the chance to own high resolution versions of Leonarno's sketchbooks. I was not dissapointed - it is a stunning work, which really shows the value of interactive media. Can't wait for what the future holds for this technology..Version: 1.0.2

GreatSo much great info, delivered as it should be, beautiful to learn from. I sort of get that old "Just bought a special book" type feel, rare for an App to give that feeling. Well done..Version: 1.0.2

Visually StunningLove this book. Fun to read, interesting interviews added at the end of the chapters, and cool anatomy models and documents to explore. The book covers the genius of da Vinci and his devotion to the study of the human body. To add. Stop negative ratings just because you can't access it! Its like a film critic writing a bad review for a movie just because the power goes out at the movie theatre. Makes no sense..Version: 1.0.2

MasterpieceTerrific way to experience the work of Leonardo!.Version: 1.0.2

Technology and art blended to perfectionEvery feature in this app seems to have been carefully crafted to provide the best experience possible. I was honestly awed at every page turn of Leonardo's drawings. I bought a book with some of his drawings a few years ago. Payed collectors price for it. But now, thanks to men such as Steve Jobs, millions will reach far into Leonardo's mind and appreciate one the most significant turning points in history (Renascence). 5 stars aren't enough..Version: 1.0.2

FantasticWe never know how far he had reached. I would pay for this app.Version: 1.1.4

Extraordinary. Breathtaking. This is an essential app. Here is an excellent, well designed work. This is why the iPad was born..Version: 1.1.4

ExcellentThis is bloody marvellous, sublime drawings in high definition, the ability to manipulate the notebooks and get instant translations. You can also compare the anatomy drawings to detailed anatomical models which can be rotated. It's a landmark in interactive books with all the sublime polish you expect from Touch Press, the only slight criticism it's a huge download, I'm going to need a bigger ipad..Version: 1.0.2
