Half Marathon Trainer: 21K Run for Negative User Reviews

Needs a little moreGood training schedule... But I wish there was a little more "coaching". For example, it would be good if the shorter runs had time intervals in them marked with a bell... In order do some speed interval training. It would also be great if there was an option to hear where we are at during the long runs (ex: an indication of our time every 20 minutes...).Version: 4.0

Don’t waste your moneyHave emailed customer service numerous times as the 22K doesn’t sync to App, zero response. Contacted apple and they were helpful but ultimately not a fault through them. Into week 4 now and all running data has been lost, shame as I enjoyed 0-5k and 10K..Version: 8.004

Needs an updateWorks worse than 5k / 10K, programming is still fine but will frequently drop saved progress and doesn’t override other app sounds like the other apps did.Version: 8.004

Disappointing compared to the 5k and 10K equivalents.I purchased this app after my success with the 5K and 10k ones. The original two were very encouraging and gave you encouraging comments throughout your workout. The 21K app does not do this. In fact it hardly gives you any advice at all. It tells you to do a five minute warmup and then begin your workout and only then advises that you are at the halfway mark. If you're running for over two hours it's actually quite a long time. There is no suggestion of how fast or slow you should be going. It just says run. It does but say run at an easy, steady or threshold pace. Only in the interval section does it tell you to run slightly faster. You have to delve quite deeply into the information within the app to realise that run slightly faster means 10 to 20 seconds faster which is very difficult to gauge if you're a beginner. I've lost interest with it now and won't be buying the marathon app and will change to an alternative. What a shame! It appears Fitness 22 just cut corners on this app and it really let the customer down. Never mind..Version: 7.3

Not what I was looking forI never run with my phone, I just want an app that allows me to view training programs track progress. Wasted my money..Version: 8.004

Garbage!10K Runner was a good app that got me to 10K as promised. This app, on the other hand, is garbage! It doesn’t integrate with the Apple Watch, it gives you almost no feedback, and it doesn’t keep track of your pace—all in all, it’s a waste of money. I had to keep another app going simultaneously to keep track of things. I just switched to Runtracker to get me from 10K to 21K. I’m going to challenge the charge for 21K Runner because it doesn’t do what it’s supposed to do and it actually has fewer features than 10K Runner, which at least integrated with my Apple Watch..Version: 8.004

Saving Bugged1 out of every 3 workouts wind be saved at the end. The timer would reach 0 the whole app would freeze and then crash. It takes a few resets to get the app to work again. Only thing that would be saved is that I did the work out but the distance, path, and calories burned would not be saved. I haven’t had this problem with the 5k or 10K app. I reached out to them and they said it is not a common problem and I should reinstall the app which I did to no avail. It is disheartening to have your workouts disappear like that..Version: 8.004

Poor version of the 5k amd 10K appReally disappointed. Loved the 5k and 10K. Jace emailed them with problem in not connecting to apple watch. No reply 3 days later. Really uninspiring it’s a cheap version of the other two. Don’t bother with this version get another. After the 5k amd 10K app expected the same or more and got a lot less!.Version: 8.004

Often crashes🙁Okay app but often crashes at the end of my workout so doesn't properly record things..Version: 7.3

UghThis app is very basic, does nothing more than time your runs...for $6, it not worth it..Version: 4.0

Need more time to assessCouldn’t quite hear instructions over music, so had to guess...thought it would cut in like Strava. Will keep trying..Version: 8.004

Like it but need moreI like it but when running with my apple watch doesnt worknwell.Version: 7.5

Don't recommendFor the past month I've used a different Fitness 22 app called Running Distance Tracker. Compared to that, this app is a complete waste of money. I'd really like to get my ¥600 back. This app does not use the map while you are running, has no voice commands except "start" and "stop", and does not break down your running speed. If you want a great running app, go download Running Distance Tracker instead..Version: 7.3

Based on time not in distanceThis app is not good. It assumes or force you to run to a pace of 6.30min/km this can leads to injuries or frustration for many runners. It doesn’t have a plan based in distance regarless the average speed of the runner. Also, you have to pay $10 to figure that out..Version: 8.004

AWFUL APP!This is quite possibly the most useless training application out there. All it is a glorified timer. It does not pace you, track your miles/kilometers, show your route, your progress, or ANYTHING. It's also suppose to let you know when you're are at your half way point, and it doesn't. And if you play music through it the volume is skewed and it keeps repeating the same song. Don't waste your time with this one. The fact they charge $6 for it is an absolute joke..Version: 4.5

DisappointedThe sound doesn’t work - it doesn’t talk in your ear like the 5k and 10k versions which renders it basically useless. Irritating because I’d already paid for a subscription before realising..Version: 8.004

Charging a subscription all of a suddenI loved these apps, and have been using them for years. I have many of them from this developer. Tapped in today to see I now have to pay for a subscription to this app, when I’ve already purchased the full version long ago. No thank you. Deleting, after years of being a loyal customer. There is no reason to pay for a 6 month plan or another $15 for an unlimited version when I already paid to go pro and nothing is changing on the app. Sad, because I loved the program, but don’t like being nickeled and dimed..Version: 8.004

No encouragementThe 0-5k and the 10k apps were great but the 21K is a bit pants. You get no encouraging comments and if you’re playing music you don’t even hear the start running stop running comments etc. Useless. I’m annoyed I’ve paid for premium as there’s nothing premium about it.Version: 8.004

Good app, wish it was more accurate.I've been training for a half marathon for awhile and used the app quite a few times. Probably the best feature to me is that it is a program already built in that is very easy to follow along. Bad part? Here in the winter I've been running indoors on a track and it couldn't be any worse as far as accuracy on distance and times sadly. I run with a fitbit as well so I know how many miles I've actually ran, also can tell obviously by how many laps I've ran, but it would be great to be able to count on just one app for all of my running needs. When I say inaccurate I mean, I actually ran 5 miles but it's saying I've run 3 in the app, maybe it is just a poor connection and it cannot register the GPS signal? But I've tried multiple indoor tracks and all have had the same problem. Now, that said, when the spring comes around and I'm running outside, I'm sure it will be better..Version: 7.3

GlitchyI used and loved the 5k and 10K app. This one is glitchy, freezing up every time I use it and doesn’t save my runs properly. That’s disappointing..Version: 8.004

Be careful of the positive reviews….These reviews are for the whole range of apps. The 5k etc app, are all apparently decent enough but the 21K (half marathon) app is very very poor indeed. It consists of a list of times you should run for with no timing or pace prompts that should be the difference between a free app and a so called premium app line this one. There is simply a beep to start, stop and tell you that you have done half your time. Absolute nonsense..Version: 8.004

Good but Not GrearI like the app as far as getting me ready for my half marathon. I am 2 weeks away from my race and I am already running the distance. I have never ran 12 miles before. The app did great in preparing me. I have 2 suggestions... I have been frustrated several times during my runs because of the forward and back buttons on the screen. I like to carry my phone as I run so I can easily see my progress. If you accidentally touch the forward or back button it will start you over or send you to the next stage of your work out! No way to go back to where you are in your run! Please either do away with those buttons, make it a two step process... "are you sure you want to start over" or have an option to go back to where you were in your run. If I am 9o minutes into a 120 minute run and my finger or once even my clothes hits the back button, your screwed unless you know the exact time you started the run after your warm up. Secondly, I wish there was a feature to keep up with distance. I have to run a second app on my phone to keep up with how far I am going and my time per mile. Would be nice to have that feature built in..Version: 7.3

It’s okayIt served its purpose but thankfully I’m a seasoned runner so had an idea about what to do. I wish that app was a bit more interactive eg put in race date and work back from that if you want a 12/16 week etc training program and be able to move around the runs with in the app not just skip and come back. Also wish there were a few more cheerleader moments on long runs other than just your at the half way point..Version: 8.004

Not enough guidance markersI’d prefer if there were 1km markers with splits as it’s annoying having to run Strava alongside it.Version: 8.004

So disappointedI was really enjoying this app but it has stopped logging my runs since week 4. I am still able to use it and do the runs but it’s very disappointing that my total progress is not being recorded and the runs I am completing have disappeared by the next time I log in. I have contacted the app multiple times to report this and have had zero response. Considering I paid this time I am gutted..Version: 8.004

21k appDisappointed as I saw great reviews and expected much more from the app - especially because it wasn't cheap. I expected it to give distance and time and pace not just 'run for 1hr' not very encouraging, also it wasn't linked to music the way Nike+ etc are. Expected some running tips and stretch ideas through the weeks too. And ideas of core and other exercises maybe. But if nothing else a pace and distance. It doesn't even track how far you did go. I'd return it if I could. Realising a lot of these apps need to provide more info about what they do and don't do before we purchase them - like the free option apps with ads show you..Version: 4.0

One time app?How do you clear your runs. Or is this a one time app.Version: 7.5

Easy to follow but glitchyAfter using the couch to 5k version of this app I wanted to follow a training plan to comfortably run a HM. The app could do with more advice for strength training as there is none, and more variation including hills, fartlek, pace changes. I am only four weeks in and finding that the plan is a bit boring and having to find my own ways of mixing it up. Each time I open the app I seem to lose anything up to 3-4 days progress and have to declare once more ‘I did it’. They say if you buy cheap you buy twice and I now feel I should have opted for one of the more expensive apps..Version: 8.004

Don’t accidentally delete a run.Overall I’m satisfied with this app. When running outside it gives a good enough estimate of distance. I like that it’s time-based, not distance based training. Haven’t had any issues with it not notifying me of alerts. It does have one major flaw though. To scroll through the different workouts you have to drag the bar on the bottom of the screen. This bar also has a check box that gets filled when you complete a workout. It is very easy to accidentally check or uncheck these boxes and permanently delete a workout. There is no equivalent manual entry - the one that exists doesn’t allow you to put distance, map, or calories burned - and no recovering the lost information. For this reason I’ve given the app 3 stars. There is also no way to view upcoming workouts other than scrolling through day by day which increases the risk of accidentally deleting one if you (like me) like to plan ahead. A calendar view would help this issue, and a “double check” feature would help the other one and if the app includes these changes in a future update it will be 5 stars for me for sure..Version: 8.004

DecentIt’s not bad, guided lengths of time motivate me to train. I think it could be improved a lot. There is no option to enter your distance run if you use a treadmill instead it just basically logs it as you ran the time but clocked 0 miles. It would be cool if it had more features like distance goals by week, it’s very focused on length of time spent running/training but not distance which is a bit weird for a 21K training app. Overall not bad but could be way better..Version: 8.004

Terrible app!WORST app ever. Lacks so much I don't even know where to start! DO NOT BUY! No GPS. Does not offer anywhere near enough info. You can just search the Internet prepare for half marathon and get a better training schedule for FREE. DON'T BUY!.Version: 3.2

Lost dataThis app is not saving my runs or keeping track. It’s just wiped a weeks worth of data..Version: 8.004

A lot of problemsThis app isn’t as good as 5k and 10k. Like other people are saying, it’s been deleting runs that have already been completed. It also doesn’t intergrate well and doesn’t announce to AirPods like the others did..Version: 8.004

Not as good as 5k and 10kThe app isn’t as good as the previous training apps. You can’t hear the trainer if you are playing music at the same time, it doesn’t give you mile markers or encouragement en route.Version: 7.5

Not free - misleadingYou get 4 days (2 of which are rest days) then you have to upgrade at a cost to continue. None of this is mentioned in the description. Completely misleading - don’t waste your time!.Version: 8.004

Apple WatchUsed 10k which worked with Apple Watch and this doesn’t! Don’t want to carry phone in long runs thanks..Version: 8.004

@£&Apparently this app has been updated (3 years ago) to view on Apple Watch. I don’t se the app on my Apple Watch?.Version: 8.004

Great app… but why no Apple Watch appWould be great to see an Apple Watch version just like the 5k and 10K app.Version: 8.004

Don’t buy it unless you already run 10kI installed the app and paid for it, and it was only then when it told me I should be running 10K already:/ no hint before making the payment. Disappointed!.Version: 8.004

Pretty BasicYep. You need to be at the 10k state when you buy it. And it's doesn't sync with anything. I did the Day 1 Week 1 challenge on Jan 5 and it didn't even update to say Day 2 Week 1 was Jan 6 so I could keep track. A calendar would be a better option....Version: 4.5

Doesn’t sync with Apple WatchI loved the 10K training app it synced up with my Apple Watch and was amazing! So now that I’m training for a half I thought I would try the 21K app. Very disappointed it doesn’t sync to my watch! I would give this app 5 stars if it would sync to my watch. Going to start looking for a new app today.Version: 8.004

Sorry to say it…I really loved both the 5 and 10k apps. They totally worked and before that point I couldn’t even run for a bus. They are GOLD! So it was an instant 1-Click purchase for the 21k version. I was so disappointed!!! It’s just not the same. It’s like they couldn’t be bothered! The ladies voice sounds a bit more muffled than previous versions and she just barely speaks! She used to say “you’ve got this!” And other things. But now she just tells you when you are halfway or when to cool down. I just don’t feel this was worth the money when there are other plans out there. It’s a real shame. I won’t be buying the marathon version :(.Version: 8.004

Would give it 5 stars but for a major bugThe bug is that the app freezes about 15 - 20% of the time at the end of a run, such that so I don’t know my distance or time, nor are my miles recorded. The app freezes with exactly one second remaining, after the coach voice says “Great job! See you again in a couple of days.“ This bug seems to happen especially on the “Day 1” of each week, but I’ve had it happen on other days including Day 6 — the longest run — when it was particularly infuriating to not know how far I had run. I contacted the app developers months ago about this bug and they recommended I make sure my iPhone was up-to-date with the latest operating system; it was. This bug is a total bummer, for I otherwise love this app and wouldn’t hesitate to give it five stars. But the bug is a tremendous source of frustration. [Incidentally I also used the 5K & 10K apps (which are excellent) and never had this issue.] ‘Hope they get the bug fixed!.Version: 8.004

FrustratedCompleted! Thank you but how do I reset the app, as I would like to train for another. All runs showing as completed. I have also emailed the developer and not heard back..Version: 8.004

Doesn’t save runsI’m not sure what happened but all of a sudden my runs are no longer being saved into my app. I am having to screen shot or share them to keep track of my runs. Bummer since I paid for this app to keep track of total miles and past workouts..Version: 8.004

Just okayI’m brand new to this app. And I’m either doing something wrong or it’s just not possible to see how far you’ve run while you’re running. I like to get 1/2 mile notices and def. one mile notices. I’ll have to run Map My Run at the same time as this app. To get those features. Probably should have just upgraded the Map my run app. Update: and the app should let you manually log in your miles when you use a treadmill..Version: 8.004

Livid! The app has deleted my runs close to 10 times. I tried adding them back in over and over and over. It continues to delete a significant amount of my data. I can not begin to express how discouraging it is to be tracking progress and working toward a goal and then to have that progress be deleted so there is no way to review it. I want my money back now!.Version: 8.004

Apple Watch & soundI really wish this would work on my Apple Watch and that the notifications would happen when my screen is off. The app doesn't tell me when to run or cool down. Frustrating.Version: 8.004

No bells and whistlesThis app is really more about the training program than about the features, which means it is very simple to use and it keeps me on track. What's missing, though, is an ability to input speed or distance. This means that it's assuming I run faster than I do, and therefore not actually getting me to the intended 21km in 126min..Version: 4.0

Apple just got rid of my review and I'm too lazy to type it all out because it was longI just typed a super long and detailed review of this app which was lost. Ironically, this is similar to the 43 minutes of my life that were lost after I spent them running in the blistering heat only to have this app skip back to the warm up after 48 minutes when I accidentally grazed the button with my finger. I understand that you can lock your phone to "prevent" this, but that's rather impossible when I'm forced to use other running apps simultaneously because this one doesn't show your pace when you run! There are free apps out there that are MUCH better for runners. Why is it Sooooooo easy to just delete an entire segment from a run?? Shouldn't there at least be some kind of confirmation prompt before just skipping back and deleting all traces of hard work/torture?! Why can't the app record all of the runs that we do and just ADD the extra time if the runner chooses to go back to the previous segment?! Or why can't the user manually go back and edit the run after it is completed by deleting segments if they don't wish to have them factored in?! This is beyond annoying. Otherwise this app has good potential..Version: 7.3

Not a fanIve used several apps for running half marathons. I thought I would try this one. First day, I stopped to get a sip of water, it paused, wouldn’t resume and locked up. Thank goodness I only had roughly 5 minutes left. Doesn’t show me my route, Or my time per minute which is super important considering I plan on improving my time this upcoming run..Version: 8.004

Half Marathon appThis is an app that should definitely be advertised as ipod or iphone ONLY. It is designed to track your workout time so obviously not compatible with the size of your ipad even if it's the mini. I feel I wasted my money.Version: 4.0

Mint a good app and no supportPaid for the app so I could see all the functionality and I established it wasn’t for me. I’ll continue with Strava and my own training. I mailed support to ask for a refund as I have not used to run and I have not had a response..Version: 8.004

Great app but keeps crashing on iPhone 11I used 5 and 10 km versions without an issue. This one keep crashing and most annoying it erases the result of the run you just finished..Version: 8.004
