✓ Great looking port but..The port is great aside from the bug of not being able to exit the save menu any time you open it. On the IPhone 8+ when you go to exit by pulling down on the “close bar” at the top of the screen, it opens notifications instead. I have tried countless times to pull the tab down to get back into the screen but every time the notifications tab is summoned instead. Please look into this if you decide to update it again. ✓ So far so good, oh never mind.Always loved myst. They changed a few things like textures and small elements, something only a loser who played the original realmyst too many times would notice, so it's no biggie. They also improved on some things, the water looks great. They put a lot of work into making the interface intuitive, you don't have to think about controls. Somewhat jerky sometimes but it's not a big deal for a puzzle exploration game. It's only a few people working on this so I don't expect them to fix anything that doesn't work. I've now run into an issue where the sound based puzzle in selenetic doesn't play sound. Now I can't progress. Rendered unplayable. ✓ Navigation is badOne of the puzzles in the first island is timed. Not gonna spoil it by saying which. While the smooth 3D navigation is beautiful, it’s also sloppy. Moving from the location where you start the process over to where you have to be soon afterward is an exercise in pointless frustration. I tap on the screen and there’s no movement. Or I overshoot, moving too far and missing the path. The original game was actually a LOT more playable..Version: 1.3.0
✓ Horrific gameplay and no soundI bought this for the music and ambience that I remember when I was younger. Unfortunately there was no sound, even after re installing. The movement mechanics are horrifically impossible to control, manipulating anything is a nightmare while attempting to flip a switch etc but you cant because you are not in that minuscule area that will allow you to interact with it. No sound, no water, no music etc and most importantly no settings to attempt to fix it. Waste of 6$ to get an app that should be error free after all these years, and the coup de grâce? The control scheme is /awful/, and sadly, they removed the lovely day/night cycles from the pc version and instead implemented a... Yes, really, "day/day cycle". ✓ DisappointingI really wanted to love this game - I played the original version on my computer and I have fond memories, but this version is not fantastic. I got stuck on several staircases and walkways that only a force close/open would resolve, the loading times are awful (for an ipad), and by the time I couldn't access a switch at the end of the game after force closing and turning everything off and on, I couldn't take it any more and gave up. The graphics aren't what I remember them being, but that's probably the payment for being able to move freely. ✓ OK, but ....Speaking as someone uninitiated to Myst this whole fantasy is very esoteric and difficult to navigate through. So, if you are new to Myst you will probably find the storyline strange and need time to adjust to it. ✓ Crashes in selenitic ageAt first everything played smoothly and there were no bugs or glitches. However, in the Selenitic Age the game crashed. When I tried to re-open it went to the linking screen, showed a brief flash of the game and then went back to the linking screen. This just continued happening over and over. ✓ Not a fan of this new iterationWhen I swipe up from the little grid, I get the iPhone control panel about 1/2 the time. When I swipe down from the little grid, I get Notifications about 1/2 the time. Isn’t there any other way to do this? It would be helpful to have the option to adjust the speed of forward progress. At times it feels as if I’m sprinting through the landscape. Also, getting properly lined up to operate the controls found in the game is more annoying and time-consuming than it should be. The movement is completely unnatural but a quick search on the web and I found that there is some kind of adjustment in the options menu... But where is the options menu?... It is perfectly lined up with the iPhone X's app switch/home trigger. Move the options button to the side or something that works on the iPhone X and I'll give it 4 stars; do that and fix the movement control and it will be 5.Version: 1.3.0
✓ Unintuitive controlsIf you had to choose between faster response times and better controls over slightly better graphics which would you choose. Most gamers would choose better gameplay over slightly better graphics. The movement in realMyst is unintuitive. To view left, right, up or down you need to pull the screen in the opposite direction. Too frustrating to be fun. I bought both versions and played them extensively and the original is better all the way around. ✓ Hello Darkness My Old FriendWhen attempting to play this game on my ipad, I get the splash screen, then the screen is black and stays that way. I gave it 2 minutes of darkness then gave up. Home closes game as normal. I did not panic. I returned to App store, clicked the app’s support hyperlink. 404 not found. Searched Cyan site for support. THERE IS NONE. Yeah really. No joke. There may be support somewhere in the game UX but since mine is emo (just a black screen) I will never know. This sure turned me off Cyan. Great puzzles, great interaction with the enviroment, etc. But the iOS versions as not a good portrail of how good this company and this series really are. Because of the size of the game, it lags really bad, each time you move you have to wait10-20 seconds for the screen to become clear. The controls are appropriate if you have a mouse, but push screen is difficult as I frequently got moved to a different area because something that needed to be interacted with was too close to the place you push to walk. I clicked on the customer support option there to the right and always get the message that the help site is down. ✓ MystI bought Myst for iPad mostly because I enjoyed it on the PC as well as playing the old Riven. The new Riven for iPad is wonderful but the touch screen movement on Myst is not nearly as good. ✓ Motion sickness makes me too physically ill to play.I was grinning the first few hours playing this game as I reminisced about the classic I struggled to beat as a kid. But at some point I got so sick to my stomach I thought I was literally coming down with COVID. The next day I felt better and tried playing again, but felt sick after maybe 20 minutes this time. After reading other reviews, I’m pretty sure it’s this game. I don’t know if it’s the jerky motion every time you click slightly off-center to move forward or the fact that looking around moves so fast it’s like spinning, but I really, really wish they would either fix this or introduce an settings option to revert to the point-and-click + image stills aesthetic of the original (which was really cool anyways). ✓ AverageConsidering it's an old game the artwork still looks good and the worlds are well put together. It's an original and interesting story, although I was confused as to who my character actually was. Overall, there is a huge amount of repetitive action and walking back to the same place again to do a slightly different thing. Also very annoying puzzles in places, where you reset the system if you get something wrong and then have to go and put it on again. Not intuitive at all, plenty of guesswork and writing things down rather than a genuine and coherent test of mental ability. I felt this was more about showing off than setting a scene where the player can learn and evolve, be playful and creative. Intellectual rather than intelligent. ✓ Not happyThe developers make a big claim about this game being remastered. Having just played the whole series of The Room I was expecting, from the photos and the claims that this game would have a similar visual purity. Instead it has cumbersome blocky graphics redolent of early Xbox and PS2 games. I’m constantly finding myself up against a wall of pixels and having to back out and turn around like an elderly lady in a supermarket car park. Also the settings/control panel is placed in the middle down the bottom of the screen on my iPad so as I’m absorbed in the journey and my finger is on the screen that settings page keeps popping up as my finger accidentally touches it. “Remastered” just means they’ve tweaked the graphics a bit and re-released an old format. The rating thus is only temporary and reflects a problem that I’ve encountered on the iPhone X version of the game. The game’s Settings button which is placed at the bottom of the screen does not work on the iPhone X version because the phone’s Home button/line obscures it! It is very irritating. I'm sure you know what they are since they are far too obnoxious to ignore but I'm going to put them in order as to which affects my experience the most. 1. ✓ Not meant for a phoneI have an iPhone 11 and fond memories of the original Myst, although I was 12 when it first came out and could not get anywhere without hint guides. I was hoping to replay it as an older, wiser adult but the phone setup may even be harder than playing as a kid. The game is SO small with minute details almost impossible to see. I broke down and looked at a walkthrough several times only to figure out there were small items on the ground, critical items that I could barely make out on the phone. Additionally, without a mouse cursor it is impossible to know what you can touch or manipulate in the game. I spent an hour walking around thinking the elevator to the tower was broken or required a secret trick, only to eventually learn I merely needed to close the door first!! ✓ Not bad - worth playingMy dad used to play this back when it was released so maybe it's the memory of that but I found the game pretty easy (I completed it in less than a day). Once you understand the key puzzle mechanics its fairly easy to solve anything the game throws at you but bear in mind this game is old school; you will need a pen and paper for taking notes. The game looks nice, it's an interesting story and universe and very atmospheric however the levels are rather small (a symptom of the original game's age) and compared to other puzzle games its not too difficult. ✓ Good but could use some workThis is still the same old great Myst, it’s always intriguing. I think it could use a graphical update though m, it’s rough. The areas feel too condensed sometimes and you get stuck on parts of the environment. I hope one of these versions of the game will expand the environments someday and give us more stuff to interact with to enjoy the worlds. It’s be cool to just mess around in the worlds after you’ve competed the game with something to do besides walk around. Also the menu can be kind of hard to access since the newer iphones already have a swipe up to close. The white line for the “tabs” or “swipe up” never disappears so that’s annoying as well. Attempted to play via the app and seems like there are always glitches that prevent the game from being finished. Currently, can’t get out of the water in the tower at shipwreck island (you’re not supposed to be able to get in the water) because the floating chest blocks the steps. Restarting device doesn’t resolve the glitch. So play ends up being total waste of time. [Gave two stars instead of one since the developer subsequently came out with Myst Legacy which I also purchased thinking it would be an improvement over this one but instead it just has superbly awful (way worse) graphics and gameplay (control) changes from this version that rendered what historically was an engrossing game completely unenjoyable/boring.].Version: 1.3.3

✓ A bit flakyHaving played the original Myst I succumbed to a bit of nostalgia. Hmmm. It is a bit difficult to play when the sound cuts out when activating various components such as retrieving the message from Atrius in the fore chamber at the dock. Had to restart the game but the same problem re-occurs. Hopefully they will issue bug fixes; please! As it is it is unplayable..Version: 1.0.0

I want a refund. I was halfway though the game when it crashed and now there's no way to continue it. ✓ Terrible!What a waste of five pounds! Even using the hints webpage, it is ridiculously difficult to find your way around! No hints during gameplay so you can find yourself wandering around aimlessly for hours! Much prefer "the room" which is stunning and unable to put down. This is just frustrating and seeming pointless, have been playing it for hours now and still have not made any progress and quite frankly I don't want to anymore! ✓ Buggy :(Yes I had a bug too got caught under water in the tower with the generator on the bit where ur on an island surrounded by sharp rocks and it's stormy, my game saved there automatically and now I would have to start all over again. ✓ Unusable.This app has never worked in the entirety of the time I have had it. Upon opening the app, it says something about "linking to the age" as an attempt at humor by referencing the Linking Books in the Myst series. However, this appears to be the extent of the app's abilities. It never, literally never, does anything else besides displaying this screen. It is thoroughly aggravating and a humongous letdown, as I greatly enjoyed the Myst series on the computer. It has been so long since originally downloading it, I have forgotten whether or not I paid for the app. It wouldn't shock me if I did, though, as it seems that nobody involved with putting it on the App Store cares that they are charging money for a nonfunctioning product. I guess stealing from the customer base has become the status quo for Apple. Don't download this worthless crap..Version: 1.1.1

✓ IPhone XThe iPhone X has the action tab at the bottom of the screen at all times. It is impossible to access the save menu because the iPhone tab is always covering the swipe up tab. Every time I try I exit the app instead of accessing the menu. I really really want to play this game and it makes me very sad. I would really appreciate a fix for this. ✓ Dissatisfied !All the 5 star reviewers are wearing rose tinted glasses. Yes this is a great adventure but are Cyan seriously suggesting that they put in the effort to justify a £4.99 price tag ? All they have done is port an early 90's game, this would be ok on a low res screen but on a high res display such as the iPad 2 the graphics look clunky and grainy. And what's with the ridiculously long and frequent loading screens, I feel like I'm playing a NES game !! "But it has a new age" I hear you say... Well I'll admit that all through the disappointing graphics and the glitch that thrice had me falling through the island into oblivion the one thing that urged me on was the promise of a new age. Imagine how disappointed I was when it turned out to be so bland and pointless, unrewarding and a real anticlimax. You get the strong feeling the the new age was in the Cyan Worlds vaults all along and they left it out of the original game for very good reasons. Not Impressed ! ✓ PityGame play on my Mini goes like this: 45 second startup, 30 seconds play, crash, 45 second startup, back where you were at the last startup, 30 seconds play, crash, 45 second startup, back where you were at the last startup. ✓ Not the best on the iPadThis title, one of the great games, suffers on the iPad. The original Myst would play much better. Touching continually to move gets annoying very fast. Tapping to move to the next location like in the Room would make the play much easier. Also, no incremental hint system. Also, the game was buggy to begin with. The animations didn't work. Then it seemed to settle down. Play the original on the PC. Still one of the great puzzle games..Version: 1.1.1
✓ DisappointedA classic ruined by simple bugs. I am a massive fan of Myst and even more so Riven. Played them when I was a kid. They taught me many lessons. This "realMyst" version has bugs. I wasn't able to play the stone ship age because the compass and generator would not operate as intended. The very least a problem solving game has to do is work. How can anyone enjoy a challenging puzzle with the thought that it may not actually be possible. This never happened in the originals. Which I own and still have. I wanted to be able to show others these amazing games without having to get out one of my ancient computers. Sadly this modem version isn't actually as good as the original..Version: 1.3.0
✓ Real Myst - Crashes since update (Feb 2013}Ran fine before the update - when pressing one of the red buttons, in the left column, in the power station viewing chamber the game now closes down instantly and I am ejected to the home page of my iPad. I would have given 4 1/2 star before ~ trust the designers can repair this programming error very soon. It would be a good idea if the developers explained WHY the update is being done i.e. to allow it to run on an updated OS, to cure a programming glitch the causes a crash when the user does a specific action,etc,etc. So often one reads customer comments that they have problems when they update. It there is no clear and specific benefit remember the old saying of "leave Well alone". I did not and good becomes not so good ~ perhaps I believed the spiel that suggested that Upgrade IS Good.Version: 1.0.15

✓ MehWish I could love this game. Heard heaps about it but its really not all that great. It's hard to get around and I think that there is a bug in the Stoneship Age as I fell down to the bottom of the basement in the lighthouse and I can't get out... ✓ Waiting for updateEverything was ok - I'm now in the mechanical age and weird stuff keeps happening. Getting stuck in rooms because of in visible walls. Going through floors (staircase) when it's raised not lowered. I've closed the app without a difference. Going back to my save game works for a little bit - but then it goes screwy again.
