ColorSnap® Visualizer for iPad for Negative User Reviews

Freezes trying to load my photoThis app does not work well or at all. When I try to load my room photo to “ visualize” what it would look like with your paint color the system freezes when I select a photo. I pressed done and nothing happens and I cannot cancel out of photo select. I have to shut the app down manually. I’m using an iPad with the up to date IOS..Version: 4.36.0

High hopes, but app is nonfunctionalOn my ipad, the app won’t allow me to create an account (so that Ican save colors & images). It also won’t let me pull in my own images to edit. I can select images, and the app will present the selected images in a dialog window, but the ‘done’ link to complete the action doesn’t do anything. I wish I could use this app, as I would love something like this to help me finalize my paint choices, but it’s simply nonfunctional..Version: 4.69.0

MehThe app is ok. Clunky, like programs were in the 1990’s. Not intuitive. Better than nothing, which is the score I give for the Sherwin Williams store closest to my home. All the other Sherwins in the area are great. And with the store closed to walking and doing curbside only, that store is now less than zero. My painter likes Behr, so will go to their app, which sounds inadequate as well, but at least Home Depot is open!.Version: 4.22.0

UselessAbsolutely useless.Version: 4.64.0

Utterly FrustratingI downloaded the app hoping to use the color visualizer. Instructions are minimal at best and I was never able to get the color I wanted even though I had the exact name and product number. Benjamin Moore’s visualizer is much simpler to use. I buy Sherwin-williams Paint regardless but am very disappointed they couldn’t have come up with a more user-friendly site..Version: 4.57.0

Great, but needs helpThis app is great for painting one of their scenes and trying colors out, but it is close to impossible if you want to use one of your photos if you have a large photo library. The All Photos displays photos in a seemingly random order, and it does not list all of the albums. They need to order by most recent and have some sort of filter option..Version: 4.16.0

Stopped working on my iPadI was loving this app, until it stopped working and became responsive. I uninstalled / reinstalled several times. I can’t paint on my own photos and most features no longer respond. Definitely the app - My iPad working fine. Disappointing, given I have about 2000 square feet interior paint I still need to work out and without this app, it will be difficult to properly visually..Version: 4.69.0

Won’t load own photoI was using this specifically to upload my own photos to preview colours. None of the photos would load. I tried multiple times uninstalling, reinstalling, creating a SW account. Nothing works. Useless, don’t waste your time..Version: 4.44.0

Fun and usefulLike this very much and need to use it more to determine if the 'save' option will allow me to view all the colors I tried in one scene vs only the last color used..Version: 1.5.3

VERY DIFFICULTSo INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT to navigate. Why not make this more user friendly? Take a photo, pick a color and BUY IT AT SHERWIN WILLIAMS??? No, you have to have an advanced degree in IT to navigate this website. Different for phone, different for iPad, different for laptop, photos don’t transfer from one to the other. Why? You would be so surprised how many people would buy your product if you made this just a little bit easier. Ugh.Version: 4.69.0

Keeps crashingUseless app...keeps crashing..Version: 4.22.0

Way too buggy for such a long running toolTrying to add my own photo and it locks out and had to be shutdown. I hit the clear all color button and the whole thing crashed and I lost my color selections. For an app that has been around for a bit and a tool that’s been around for years, the app shouldn’t be this buggy..Version: 4.69.0

Not easy to navigate, but helpfulI am having trouble navigating through the system and saving the palettes I want to compare. I have the names of the colors I want to compare but do not know where they are exactly on the color wheel, so that has been a bit time consuming..Version: 4.34.0

Crashes ConstantlyThis could be such a fantastic app. I find it intuitive and easy to use. In theory it’s useful for choosing paint colors for a house...just load in your photo, choose your colors, and paint whatever you want. I chose different colors for the siding, trim and details. Having a color palette to play with was helpful. However the app crashes constantly. There’s no automatic backup, so hours and hours of work are lost. I tried deleting the app and reinstalling, to no avail. The app is useless to me due to the crashes..Version: 4.23.0

User uni controlWishing had more control over the U I, especially settings & what info I allow to be used, collected from me; & what I can STOP from App using. Sure can fill out forms & contact “someone” to do this, but have you tried & looked at the process….it’s “crappy”. Could be as simple as turning on/off radial buttons w/in settings….seriously, but nope. So, makes ya wonder why other apps can do this, not this App. Otherwise, it’s decent, and does allow own photos, but every app does this. Wish didn’t upload images to server automatically, so if dint want your room(s) on site, make sure to delete afterwards, imo. Score overall 3.5/5 Privacy & UI/UX/UE = 2/5.Version: 4.60.0

It gets stuck in color visualizerIt is very aggravating that you can go in the Get inspired and when you go into the room they allow you to practice with, you cannot leave that part. There are no places you can go to get out and even logging out closing the app and opening the app and logging back in will fix it. It seems to fix itself after trying over and over. It’s just about unusable..Version: 4.69.0

PainterThis app is good for me but it needs the whole selection of the colour charts and it needs a price range menu for the products sherwin Williams offers to sell also could use a more precise estimator..Version: 1.1

Uploading photosI am not able to determine how to upload the photo of my room that I want to paint..Version: 4.27.0

Crashes every timeTerrible..Version: 4.22.0

Aren’t shadows part of a paint color.I’m trying to use this to find a new color for my house without buying quarts and quarts. This program is painting EVERYTHING the same! I want to know how the colors look in light and shadow. Isn’t that the whole point? This program is painting everything the same. Additionally the colors look nothing like the swatches. This program offers nothing better than my old pick the quarts method. Why did I even give it two stars I’m now wondering....Version: 4.23.0

Frustrating experienceThis is one of the most frustrating apps I’ve used in a while. The auto color selection is terrible to the point of being useless, so I tried defining my own areas. Nope. The software arbitrarily decides to close shapes, turning some rectangle attempts into triangles. Near as I can tell, there is no way to add or delete handles to correct them. It also decides on its own to connect shapes — again, with no way to unconnected them. It’s easier to just buy paint and paint the room than to fake-paint it with this app. Uninstalling..Version: 4.23.0

Nor intuitive neither accurateQuite buggy and useless app, darkens the image every time you want to compare a picked colour with the image, pointer keeps jumping all over the image, besides, it is supposed to match the wall colour not the colour of pixels which i can get in photoshop.Version: 1.5.3

Doesn’t work, limited color selectionI recently took on the project of painting my entry doors. I love SW paint colors, so I thought this would be perfect. Downloaded the app, took photos of the doors I wanted to paint….unable to get app to work. Wouldn’t let me select paint colors, also didn’t have the specific colors I had selected from Lowes in the app, therefore was useless to me. Very disappointed, as this is an excellent concept..Version: 4.64.0

Iffy at bestI’m giving this app 3 stars because, if I fought with it enough, it let me see what I needed to see when picking colors for my bathroom. However, it crashes a lot. And even though I registered an account and kept saving my work, when I would go to open those saved works up, only half of the colors would show up properly..Version: 4.22.0

Color SnapThis Review is Relating to Apple Mobil Devices: IPad Pro;IPad Air2; and the iphone7#. NOT Desktops. -1 Cumbersome -2 Selection to Paint is sporadic meaning sometimes it will pick up an entire area not requested; other times no matter what tools are used the defined area only grabs small portions. Consistent & repetitive no matter how slowly or specific the attempt. -3 will often get message that the paint number or name cannot be found when I have found both previously when doing a paint search to add to my shortlist colors -4 receive message that ColorSnap is working on the problem when not able to receive requested info and then has gone on for 1-3 days! -5 would like to create more colors than what is allowed for comparisons & not have to delete others I am considering -6 would like to immediately save to a named folder or file for future use or reference -7 I love the ‘Compare Colors’ option that allows you to change the colors to place side by side; move the colors to create different scenarios for visuals to show clients.Version: 4.25.1

Disappointing due to lack of colorsI was very excited to use a paint visualizer to figure out my options, especially since all the stores seem to be out of or seriously lacking sample sizes of paint. Unfortunately, this app isn’t updated with the full color palette…so the color sample cards I have are not options. I guess even worse than the colors not being in here, is that the Lowe’s paint visualizer had a couple of the Sherwin Williams colors that this app did not. Of course Lowe’s still didn’t have the full color palette, so that won’t help me either. Such a shame to spend as much time as i did to find numerous color palettes and options for every room of the house, just to be back to square one..Version: 4.42.0

FRUSTRATING, FRUSTRATINGI’m almost in tears over this app , it worked for 2 projects I was excited that I found an easy app but then reality hit !! I can’t add any other pictures or delete any old ones I can only get a partial of my house when taking through the app but I can’t even download a new picture!!! When I tried to go to app help it was only telling me how to find a flipping store !!! I’ve never been this angry using any app !! Scroll right by this unless your ready to be annoyed..Version: 4.64.0

CRASH!!!I have tried to use this app so many times. I have deleted it and reloaded it to make sure that I have the most updated version. No matter what, I get a few minutes into painting a photo the I uploaded, and it crashes. The features are better than the iPhone app in that you can paint different areas of a photo different colors, e.g. exterior walls vs. shutters. However, that doesn’t matter because it will crash on you, and none of your work will be saved. Seriously, Sherwin Williams? Get it together..Version: 4.22.0

Very frustratingI was excited to see the possibilities, but they didn’t come to fruition. I could only upload one photo, can’t add any colors to my options, and can’t delete the photo to try a different view. None of the menu options at the top work either. Get inspired, paint a photo… using on my iPad..Version: 4.69.0

CrashfestCool concept but its a waste of time with how often it crashes..Version: 1.2.2

UselessCannot load paint to test colours. Forces you to create an account and still does not work. Benjamin Moore app is much better.Version: 4.33.0

Unable to upload room photos easilyI was disappointed in this app when trying to use it. I’ve been a fan of the Sherwin-Williams paints and colors for many years but I didn’t find this app helpful in trying to make color selections. The app is fairly glitchy even after installing updates. I was unable to take a photo of my room directly from the app. I then attempted to take several pictures of the room with my iPad camera and upload them into the app via the “paint a room” feature. This didn’t work well either because after selecting my photos I wasn’t able to close the selection window and upload the photos without closing the app and reopening it. After several tries I was able to upload a photo but found that the colors selected were not true to life. The colors selected were substantially lighter than the full sheet color samples we’d gotten from SW directly. In all, I found the app frustrating to use and was disappointed in the results. I’ll probably just go back to getting small samples of paint based on the color sheets and go from there. Was hoping this would be a timesaver but didn’t find it to be helpful in that way..Version: 4.65.0

Does the trickWhen you color it in carefully, it seems to shift afterward. Otherwise it was handy for getting a general idea of how an approximate color would look in a room..Version: 2.0

Frustrating : constant crashes without saves.I just came to look at the reviews, because after installing this today, I have spent hours attempting to do the same thing over and over. Every time I start painting and want to extend the area, or change colors, it crashes. There is no automatic save, so I have done the same thing over again for 2 hours. I give up..Version: 4.23.0

StuckI have probably like everyone else an IPad. The issue I have is when I upload more than one photo of my residence is only one photo loads. Then after trying to paint my photo the app doesn’t allow me to go back. To get out of the app completely I have to shut down my tablet. Am I missing something..Version: 4.59.0

Super buggyThe app seems like it would be good, but I could not get more than one or two clicks before the app became essentially non-responsive. It was every feature, not just one or two. I couldn’t select both a picture and a color to paint it with without it basically locking up. I say basically because it would highlight my choices, but not activate them. I restarted several times and deleted and redownloaded the app. It was on an Air 5 and have not had similar issues with any other app..Version: 4.69.0

Very difficult to use and crashes oftenI love Sherwin-Williams paint, but this app is one of the worst apps I have ever used in my life. It is extremely frustrating for me to try to use this app. In fact, I spent a long time working to paint a room the color that I wanted and when I tried to add a color to be able to change it to a new color, there was no way to go back to the photo that I was working on. I really wanted to like this app, but after several hours trying to make it work reliably, I give up..Version: 4.24.0

Just use the web browser experience; the app isn't worth the frustrationI previously used the desktop site for planning the color updates we wanted to make to our living room. It was a little tedious on a laptop, much like trying to map out a route on a web browser to gauge distance walked. I was excited to learn there's an iPad app, especially since I just got an apple pencil as a gift. I was convinced it would make it easier to draw out the sections to color. unfortunately that is not the case. I'm using the app on a new iPad air (4th gen) and it's super buggy to the point of being unusable. Sure the pencil helps make drawing th areas easier, but the app just selects and fills in whatever it thinks was your focus. It's super unintuitive to figure out how to select a previously drawn section without filling it with the wrong color. I need to draw selections because my condo used to be a rental and every wall/ceiling is the exact same color, so the AI for knowing the different surfaces just can't work well, given that there is no native distinction in the pixels. Since the pencil was so much easier to use, I thought I'd try the desktop site on my mobile browser. But alas, their sniffing outmy device type and the mobile site experience is not available. They force you to use this barely functional app when using the iPad. I wish there was a way to bypass, but I can't find one. bummer..Version: 4.27.0

Frustrating user interfaceWhile the app in theory has a lot of promise, in reality it’s an exercise in frustration. Simple things like picking photos from your library don’t work in the weirdest way, you can see them, select them, but you can’t close the photos picker. The paint palette, perhaps the most useful, is also buggier than a swamp in the summer. You get these arbitrarily limited slots on a color scheme, which you can save, but for the life of me I can’t figure out how to get them back, there appears to be no way to do that..Version: 4.69.0

UselessFirst - shame on you, Sherwin Williams. Before downloading, make sure you read their terms - you’ll be horrified. Why do you need an account to use an app that resides on your iPad? So that they can own your personal information/pix and use your data in whatever manner they choose. Second - this app badly needs beta testing prior to public release..Version: 4.15.0

This app is guaranteed to drive you crazy!I have foolishly spent hours with this app. I managed to get some reasonably good looking views, but with what I consider to be an inordinate amount of effort and frustration. You will need to frequently undo, save, swear, and ultimately you will give up. It does non-intuitive things, and has locked up on me when trying to share the results via email or messages. It always locks up when loading an initial image, btw. One has to kill the app and restart it, then choose to resume editing the current image to start working on a new image! What finally caused me to give up, and use other apps, is that it crashed when I was messaging, and it deleted my saved model as a side effect! Really great idea, but really bad software..Version: 4.69.0

Does not workTried multiple times and it doesn’t work..Version: 4.33.0

Useless appTried to get it to match colour in a photo. Had to accept the terms and conditions five times but it still didn’t let me click the done button. Tried to register but it will only accept US postal codes. Guess the developers haven’t heard of Canada. Won’t be buy SW paints if this is the quality I can expect..Version: 4.12.3

Better than nothing butFinding the app difficult to upload more than 1 picture (if I can only have 1 photo then tell me!). Would like to do deck stains (since painting house & staining deck at same time) but those aren’t available. Nothing intuitive about this app. Need better help (like User Question/answer area). Very frustrating to use. From reading reviews it appeared SW doesn’t care about this tool any great amount. SW needs to invest some time/$$ to making this more user friendly (or remove it). Especially since their paint store employees build it up to be a great tool. This tool could be very useful if they would take these comments seriously..Version: 4.69.0

It does not workDownloaded and tried to use this app to see how colors would look in a room we are looking to repaint. Difficult to navigate and understand privacy settings. Much more control needs to be provided here. Then, when trying to add a Sherwin-Williams paint color in the app, I kept encountering an error message indicating something went wrong. Restarted the app twice to no avail. App is now deleted from my iPad Pro. This current version is not worth your time. Hopefully, future versions will work..Version: 4.38.0

Helpful, but only to a pointI downloaded this app to help facilitate some decision making for a planned home project. What I was looking for was an app that would let me 1) upload a sketch I had made, and then 2) recommend colors based on the sketch, which I could then 3) save to palettes for when I shopped. It’s great at #1 and #3, but only so-so for #2. The color selections looked great on the screen but were a bit off when I compared them to what I saw at the store. That's probably not the app’s fault per se, but you will likely have to find yourself choosing a color in the store other then what the app recommends at home, which is why I cannot fully recommend this app. (Ironically, another nice ancillary feature is that the app shows you where in a Sherwin Williams store to find a particular swatch. That’s terrific! If not for.... well, see above) Overall it’s fine for what it is, but not the one stop shop you’d like, though again it may not be entirely the app’s fault..Version: 4.35.0

Not great at recognizing wall edgesThe app is terrible at recognizing wall edges/corners and thus painting your room photo is terrible feature. Maybe they could provide a way for the user to assist the app in identifying the edges. The feature to add your own boundaries is not helpful and clumsy to use. Once you create a boundary the app does not remember if you add another boundary. The first boundary is lost..Version: 4.36.0

Falls short of its potentialThis has the potential to be a great app. Sadly, it’s so buggy I am constantly throwing it away and restarting. It has a lot of issues with moving between functionalities and routinely gets hung up. When it is working it’s helped a lot with picking paints for an addition we are putting on the house. The IT Quality team needs to take a hard look at this app and fix the bugs..Version: 4.69.0

Crash, crash & crashWorst app ever used. Crashes constantly, you can never finish a project. You can no longer save projects and retrieve them. Years ago this was not a problem, now it can crash every few seconds. Suggestions beyond the crashing. 1. Break apart each wall in a stock photo. This would allow me to show clients an entire color palette. 2. Not every home has white trim and cabinets. Wouldn’t it be nice to have the ability to select between 4 different finishes. 3. Better coverage of color to cover extreme areas, bright sun and dark shade..Version: 4.25.1

This app would be so helpful if it wasn’t so buggyI really, really want this app to work. Unfortunately, it’s really buggy. In particular, uploading a photo (in all relevant features) causes you to get stuck in the Photo modal. Only way to get out is to restart the app. When you return to the upload feature, the photo you wanted is now selected. Also, you can only work with one photo at a time - trying to upload more than one photo is a no go, even though the UX implies it should work just fine. I’ve tried updating the app, and it doesn’t help..Version: 4.69.0

Colour wall crashesUseless app. Behr provides a way better app..Version: 2.0
