Mammoth Mountain for Negative User Reviews

Hate itBring back the old app. Favorite part of app Is to check in on snow conditions through the web cams. Previously I could look at one page with 8 screen shots. Now I have to make many clicks on small icons and wait to take control and look at one at a time and click very small arrows on my phone. Also it’s not intuitive where the cams are located on the app either. I would Check daily to get excited for skiing. I won’t come back much because it’s painful to navigate. Sooooo bummed!.Version: 6.0

It just doesn’t workI love Mammoth mountain, and think they have done some great things, but the app isn’t one of them. You have to manually check in, and even when checked in, it doesn’t track where you are on the mountain or what lifts you took. I skied for several days in a row, and it says that I have done 0 runs. The only way to connect to friends is if they log in with Facebook. What if they don’t use Facebook? You just can’t connect. It just doesn’t work..Version: 5.16

Nice to have but could use improvementIs useful when you need a map on the mountain but you should be able to tap on the runs to see the distance and there should be a tab where you could see what lines are open..Version: 5.45

Fun but freezesGreat app seems accurately to track on lifts and trails. Uses GPS not data so great for those of us who are roaming. I found though that when recording the app would freeze..Version: 3.1.50

Worse than beforeThe recent upgrade made a pretty awful app worse. The weather forecast has no information attached at all just temperatures. The map few is weird because it’s north up so it feels upside down from how we are used to look at the mountain/ trail map. The app keeps logging me out constantly. Half of the function “ not available” at any given time..Version: 6.1

Good for info not for trackingThe app is great for up to date information but you’ll find the app annoying if you sign in and use it for actually tracking your day on the mountain. The app randomly closes your tracking session for the day and signs you out, deleting any data that you may been in progress tracking. Have to sign back in and start a new session. The app is slow. It doesn’t help that there’s almost zero cell service or Wi-Fi at the mountain, rendering the app useless most of the time. Lift line times on the trail are also delayed at least 15-20 minutes most of the time so not very useful..Version: 7.2

Basically uselessThis app is basically useless when trying to navigate the Ski Patrol’s actions. It would be helpful to understand which lifts are about to be opened and which lifts are already open. However, this app is usually 20 minutes late for anything that’s happening. as suc, playing the chess game that is trying to get first tracks at Mammoth Mountain win the Ski Patrol is doing avalanche control is not possible with this app. What is the point of an app that is telling you when stuff is about to open when it is 20 to 30 minutes delayed?.Version: 7.0

Love the mountain. Hate the app.Best mountain in the world. The app is the worst. Sorry. It’s shocking in a world of apps being maybe the most important access tool to the mountain (because the live real person phone lines is always an extended hold time) that no one is overseeing the app programming. I actually called a couple weeks ago and asked “why does it say the mountain is open from 9-5:30 when it’s 8:30-4:30? The new live cam set up is useless. Wish it would just go back to last year. It was great..Version: 7.3

Corporate suits take overNo longer the family run resort. Large corporate group. Could care less about the local skiers, especially the seniors. Prices keep going up. As long as snow falls prices go up. It is now set up so that only a family of four that is in the top 1% can go skiing. The lift operators don’t really care anymore, and don’t give the service they use to. There seems to be more lifts closed at certain times for no apparent reason other then it’s cheaper not to run them because there’s not that many people on the mountain. The groomers however, still do a great job in keeping the mountain groomed. The Mountain itself is still an amazing ski mountain..Version: 5.15.4

Crashes all of the time, Cam views are not as good as before-too smallSince the latest update my app crashes all of the time. It would be nice if it had facial recognition because it logs me out all of the time and I don’t remember my password so then I have to go look it up. I don’t like the cams, you can hardly see anything. They were much better before. OLD REVIEW It would be nice if it had GPS and the dummy proof you are here dot with helpful prompts for example-where would you like to go -skill level -Apple Watch interface with turn by turn wrist prompts or iPhone audio prompts for those who wear an earbud There’s just not enough maps on the mountain and for some of us who are geographically challenged it would be nice to be able to explore more of the mountain without the fear of getting lost..Version: 6.4

Worst app update everThe previous version was superior. I cannot use the new one. Several attempts to login using MyMammoth or Ikon info are ‘unauthorized’. Appears the time open for lifts has not been updated for the time change 6 weeks ago - states lifts open at 9:30. All past tracking is gone and web cams are now controlled by others who like to look at a wall or the ground. I am sad this app now provides no benefits..Version: 6.1

ConfusingLift status is much improved, and many aspects are fine. The weather and conditions section is abysmal. While they time stamp certain messages, sometimes it is difficult to tell if that was from today or yesterday. The weather forecast is most confusing, and it is no different on their website. It is often difficult to tell when it was last updated, and snowfall predictions have all been removed, except for the current day. That takes a lot of fun out of reading the forecast, and for planning. It makes a big difference on whether we expect 1” of snow tomorrow, or 16”. There is zero information on that anymore..Version: 7.3

Track logs no longer have a map display??One of the most useful features of the app used to be playing back the day to see where you went and a relative speed scale with that track, that fiction seems to be missing in the last way version. I also trust the tracked speed less than previous versions. I didn’t compare to another app but they seemed to read too high today. UPDATE: the common denominator on not displaying track maps seems to be iPhone Xs.Version: 5.15.0

WeakWeb cams used to be better, rather than fixed pictures. When I access this app on my iPhone or iPad, the app does not change the display when I move the electronic device around. App displays in a fixed, not moving screen, which means it appears upside down. How much are lift tickets? Finding the price in a simple place has escaped me. It seems like you have to initiate the purchase process before you can see the price..Version: 5.41

Great idea but doesn’t workThe first day it tracked our group for a bit then stopped tracking some people and generally had the wrong locations for everyone. The second day it said it had trouble connecting to the server for 4 hours before finally connecting but disconnected others. Also had log in issues..Version: 7.2

Great AppGreat app. But I can’t find any tech support when the app starts failing. The app stopped tracking any stats. It will allow check in’s. But the tracking feature has failed. And if you delete the app and reboot the app, you lose all your data up to that point. You start fresh again. Any tech tips to help with this issue??.Version: 5.15.8

App needs work- Sometime does not refresh unless you shut it down and restart it - sometimes several times - app logo does not show on ipad mini - would be nice if you could click on the chair in the status and get its location on the mountain and maybe basic info about it - length, # people per chair, time bottom to top, etc. - same with the trails - on the trail map, use a different color than nlue for groomed trails to make it easy to differentiate them from intermediate..Version: 5.15.1

Redesigned version is awfulUseless weather forecast page compared to the old one, gives very little information. The weird new map seems useless, panning and zooming around it feels awful but I have no use for it. Why do you have different weather and snow conditions and also the Snow report in info that just links to a webview? New snow conditions removed knowing the base at main/mid/top. Viewing open trails/lifts is awful. It should be sorted by open/scheduled/hold/closed etc to make it easier to search for the user. Trails shouldn’t be sorted in alphabetical order. They should be sorted based on open/closed or maybe also separated by areas like other mountains do. Maybe sorted by difficulty as well. Camera views are clunky and near unusable for a mobile application. They are small since they can’t be viewed horizontally. I like the intention behind redesigning the app, but it’s apparent there wasn’t much user testing for this CX. Hopefully can get some small updates before main part of the ski season! Looking forward to it.Version: 6.0

Really lackingAs a frequent user of the Squaw Alpine app, which needs some improvement, I found the Mammoth app to be just... bad. The only redeeming feature is the functional map. So what’s not good? 1. The Check-in is inconsistent, and if you miss the auto-check-in, you need to realize that “track” is what you need to hit. The stats are really poor. No info on which runs or lifts you used. The worst? No way to track your friends on the slopes. There is a feature... it just doesn’t work. I tried every which way to make it work, but it’s so poorly executed, that I gave up and just used Google maps location sharing instead. There is no info on lift wait times. The browser-based pull for “Dine”, “Play”, and “Save” options is not a great experience either. Bottom line... Mammoth, build a better app!.Version: 5.15.3

Need to lower the age!!!I don’t understand why the app age requirement is 17+ makes no sense as kids and families could all be enjoying the app if you lowered the minimum age. This isn’t something that Parental Controls can override - it needs to happen with the app itself. Other mountains where we ski the resort/ mountains app age is 4+….Version: 7.3

Good Idea/Good Start that needs workBetter than the prior app for tracking all things Mammoth. Still would like an app to break out the "down time" of the lift. Being tied to Facebook is ridiculous. With the security issues surrounding FB, I would hope this app would realize it needs to be stand alone. Also, it needs to integrate My Mammoth account info..Version: 5.11.9

Need stronger signal. The problem is that if you are in the lodge especially canyons lodge you don’t get any service to login. It’s spotty reception on the hill too. The app doesn’t record some of the runs and vertical feet that you ski. I have att and my friend has Verizon and we both had the same problems. Also noticed that the ikon app and the mammoth app have gps differences. I noticed that they both recorded different speeds of my skiing on their apps..Version: 7.1

Old app was way betterThe old Mammoth app from years ago was substantially better than this one. Where is the trail map? The old app had a simple trail map that looks like every map of Mammoth mountain that you have ever seen, and it would place a blue dot right where you were standing. Extremely useful! This app won’t load the weather or trail status until you click on another icon and then come back to it. And it wants you to sign up for their services and login before you can do anything. When you are paying over $200 a day for a lift ticket they shouldn’t require anything more of you to simply see where you are or where your friends are. Seems like a new group of people got their grubby hands on this application and just destroyed it..Version: 6.5

Loses Your Prior Tracking Data & Poorly Designed0-Stars. In addition to losing all of your prior years of tracking data, the redesigned app is far less functional. Life is too short to hate but I hate having downloaded this app. Don’t do it. Read the other one star reviews. …and the developers keep making the app worse. Now, my snowboard tracking app logs me out « for my protection. ». At least let me login in with Face ID..Version: 7.3

Atrocious New VersionThe new app is absolutely horrible. Nothing loads properly. The design is not all user-friendly. Missing many features of the previous version. All this app is now is a clunky ad for upcoming events. I won’t open this app while I’m on the mountain & I’ll use a different app to track my runs. I’ll probably end up deleting it all together as it’s completely useless..Version: 6.0

Lost all tracking data!I just updated to the version 6 app. Yes, things load faster, but I lost all of my past season data!! As someone who love to compare my stats from one season to the next for the sake of comparison and improvement, I’m destroyed. 8 years worth of stats… gone? Why did you choose to do this when your past app updates retained all of this data and made it super easy to toggle from season to season????.Version: 6.4

Lost all my dataI’ve been a user of the app for about 3-4 years now. It never requested a login and it stored all my stats. The new version asks for your Ikonpass login (it is not even obvious that this is what they are asking during the signup process). I figured out when I created an account. Anyway the app looks good but the fact I lost my 3 last seasons of stats made me very unhappy. Anyway to get it back?.Version: 6.1
