✓ AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTSAfter using this service for a fair while, without warning or reason, my account kicked me out and with the error message LOGIN EXPIRED. Would seem like a simple fix, and for a competent company with a competent support network it would be, however the support team are extremely slow to respond, when they do there are long time waits between messages up to 15 minutes. After over an hour of waistline my time, the useless support team were unable to fix the issue and refused to refund me for the outstanding 18 months I had left. ✓ Avoid!Avoid this VPN! I’m currently in China and have heard good things about VyprVPN. I downloaded the app and proceeded to create an account, began a 3 day trial and they make you commit to a year subscription once your trial is up (providing you don’t cancel before your subscription ends). I then went to log in and it said I’ve got a subscription, but then wouldn’t let me log in. I cancelled the subscription, deleted the app and downloaded the app again. When I went to log into my account it asked me to sign up my payment information for a subscription AGAIN! They promised that I would have a free trial so I’m not sure why on earth they were asking for me to subscribe again?! I proceeded to authorize it again knowing that I could cancel before the payment was taken and it STILL wouldn’t let me log into my account and said there was no connection. I cancelled the subscription again and deleted the app, because I will not have them try to get money off me for a year when I can’t even access the free trial that they’ve given me. I’m afraid I can’t commit to a VPN without a free trial to test whether it works where I am so I will be deleting this app and avoiding Vypr. ✓ OpenVPN and Chameleon protocols needed ASAP!The VyprVPN app needs OpenVPN, and most importantly the Chameleon protocol, because although IKEv2 is a great protocol for mobile devices, its often blocked on public wi-fi networks. Both protocols can be added into iOS apps. ExpressVPN, VPN Unlimited, ibVPN, Surfshark and Private Internet Access have OpenVPN in their iPhone apps, VPN Unlimited even has a Stealth VPN protocol in theirs, but Chameleon sounds far better, so please add the OpenVPN and Chameleon protocols as soon as possible. Apple do allow OpenVPN in VPN apps, it does take more vetting but it can be done because ExpressVPN, ibVPN and Private Internet Access have done it, so if they have managed it then so can you, so please look into it..Version: 2.26.1

✓ Save your time for other vpns if you are in ChinaBeen using this for 6 months. Only chameleon works on windows, only ikev2 and chameleon works on iOS, doesn’t work on Ubuntu and I don’t have a Mac. Chameleon is slow and disconnects frequently, also takes a long time to connect. Ikev2 is more stable but much slower. WireGuard worked well and fast for days after the release but stopped working at all on all systems. All their support team can say is obvious things like restarting router and reinstall application, obviously didn’t fix anything. The only good thing about it is that chameleon always manages to get a connection if you keep reconnecting it despite being slow and unstable..Version: 4.0.1

✓ Rapidly drains battery while in useThis VPN constantly disconnects and needs to be manually re-enabled even if it was set to automatically reconnect. Even worse, the one time this did not happen for me it drained the battery at a rate of -8% per hour while the device was in sleep mode. This is fast enough to bring it from almost full to almost dead overnight, all from just being connected to a VPN! The simple fact for me is that, I trusted VyprVPN, but their terrible service caused me not only anxiety, but also economical lost. Before I left U.S. for China, I checked different VPN companies, because I know that Chinese Fire Wall would cause me lost connection with the world outside. VyprVPN advertises itself, saying it has a team consistently working on breaking the Chinese Fire Wall, so I payed for a year’s service. However, the truth is that their servers do not response most of the time, and my MacBook VyprVPN does not even try to connect when I click the “Connect” button! I could not check my gmail, or my Messenger, which fact made me almost isolated from my friends and colleagues outside of China for two weeks until a friend in China helped me find another VPN service, free to use and much more reliable. During which time, I lost a check sent from the U.S. due to the fact that I could not update my address in China. I really hope that no one else would fall into such terrible situation as I did. Please reconsider if you are planning to use VyprVPN for serious reasons. And do not pay them anything! ✓ Do not buyYou will never be able to cancel the auto-renewal subscription. It has to be done according to their draconian process, and draconian is an understatement. They will do everything they can to decline your auto-renewal cancellation, including demanding your Paypal account Id so that they can invoice you for the renewal. I went through the 290 some odd one-star reviews and I am far from being the only customer with billing problems. Some are billed twice, once by Apple, and the other by Vyprvpn. As others have e noted, here are times when it will either take a very long time to connect, or where it just gets stuck. I then. Have to exit the app, turn off wifi or the cellular signal, then start over. This almost always happens when resuming from locked mode. Very frustrating because it used to work so well, I never had to think about-- it was so easy I installed it on my family's phones (I have the 4 connection account). However, because of he problems connecting, it either just flat out doesn't work, or it switches off wifi and connects on cellular. My daughter didn't realize this and this last month we had overages on cellular data because she thought she was on wifi, but the app got stuck on "Disconnecting" and was on cellular... ✓ Lacks Kill SwitchTheir app for the iPad and the iPhone do not have a kill switch. That is very unfortunate since it really restricts someone's ability to safely use Wi-Fi at public hotspots or while traveling and staying in motels. I watch the app take up to 30 secs to reconnect with the VPN server, if it has dropped the connection, so I know my information must be leaking over the Internet during that interval. Once connected, it is very fast; it is much faster than the last VPN I used. It also does not have trouble connecting with any websites that I've tried it with, thus far. And the fact that they just changed to a no-logging policy is a big plus. If the iOS apps had a kill switch, I would have given them a five star rating. But degraded security certainly warrants knocking at least two stars off of their rating. NOTE: They advertise it has a kill switch but that is only because their desktop app has a kill switch..Version: 2.26.0
✓ It use to work well, now it constantly crashesI’ve had this application for about 3+ years. It worked well, but can be slow. It started having problems in February where it would stop working. You had to disconnect and reconnect about every 15-30 minutes. This happens on multiple newer iPhones, XS Max and iPads. I’ve tried to get help from technical support. They have you try every conceivable configuration setting. Nothing they recommend works. Now they just want to close the ticket. They email me that without responding to them within two days they will close the ticket. They don’t care about fixing the problem, just closing the ticket. I’ve noticed other reviews note similar problems with the application and the company response is to contact customer service. If you do, you will be treated to a process that wastes your time, and includes not reading your comments and asking you to do everything you told them you already did. After retest, documenting and emailing, they want you to just go away when the application doesn’t work. Btw... don’t expect any money back if you cancel, and cancelling has its own challenges. ✓ Fault app and disabled my iPhone completelyFirstly when I got the app, I was not able to connect with it at all. Even when I was using the paid features it did not allow me to connect to any network that I normally would be able to on any of my other devices. On top of that the app would automatically connect me to the vpn whenever I connected to a different wifi and when it did that, I wasn't able to use that wifi until I went into the app to turn it off. It also would not let me tap the vpn off slider in the settings to turn it off, as I said before I had to go into the app and turn it off, on top of all that today I had an experience where it showed a random phone notification asking for my password. When I tried to hit cancel the notification opened up again and it would not stop, making my iPhone completely unable to use. I tried rebooting it and it still showed up. I had to quickly delete the app in the .5 seconds that I had between when I hit cancel and when it opened again. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP. Even during the course of a chat they don’t read what is written so they repeatedly ask for information that is already given. This service isn’t as secure as they claim to be, due to the logging your data is traceable back to you. Whether it takes a court case or just an ask from law enforcement do not think for one minute that this service is truly anonymous or secure. Secondly, the app is utter rubbish. Pay attention to the other users on here who have complained about this app. The reconnection after you lock your phone hangs 1/2 times or sometimes the app will just fail to work in the form of the button just not toggling to an enabled state (requiring a device restart). I downloaded VyprVPN mid January and got duped into buying a one year subscription for €70 and after two weeks of using it, it stopped responding, would not connect me to any server at all, even after spending an hour clicking on every available server, and still no luck. It ended up stopping me from being able to get online, on my laptop and on my phone. I couldn’t log out and contacted customer support and finally received a response after 5 days. Totally unacceptable, as I could not wait that long to solve the problem and ended up having to use my old phone. They advised me to uninstall and re-install it again, too much work as the problem kept on happening, so in the end I had to delete it from my system completely so I could start using both my devices again.
