SessionBand Original for Negative User Reviews

Work in progress..I Downloaded this as I love pre programmed loops to make song ideas and it has potential to be great..but GarageBand is much better. Yes you have to loop your own ideas on it but its a better sound and some of the loops don't cleanly progress to each chord.. Chordbot app does better piano and synth loops and is much easier and more versatile and you don't get the odd click and slip of the chord change. MUCH better is band in a box for your PC.. My main reason to review this app is that I downloaded it during the special offer and got a couple of in app purchases, which I thought were OK for 69p. BUT when I went to purchase further in app styles the price had TREBLED! I don't mind paying for good apps (I paid £20 for sampletank), but the loops just aren't perfect enough to warrant the prices of the extra packs that you can buy and it AT LEAST needs a preview to know what you'd get..plus,you pay £2.99 for only 4 extra variations? In the special offer it was value for money, but with the price hike, its hit a weakness that will stop people buying into something that could be a good as GarageBand..Version: 1.0

Come on...Really?...That's it?Is that all you get for 6 bucks? I can't even imagine what the 5 upgrade might do!!! Come on guys...Refund please!.Version: 1.0

Needs updatingWhen are you going to update this app so it's like the rest, been waiting for a good while now, otherwise it would be 5 star....Version: 2.1

Very poor controls...Can we please.... please.... PLEASE.... have a PLAY/STOP button on the EDIT window!?! It is INCREDIBLY frustrating and hindering to workflow to keep having to switch backwards and forwards and then stop and start and back and forward again!! Makes a potentially very useful app... into frustrating amateur rubbish!.Version: 2.2

Clip lengthThey only thing I am having trouble doing is shortening and lengthening clips.Version: 2.5.3

Where's Audiobus?Where's the long-promised addition of Audiobus compatibility? IAA also, please..Version: 2.1

Does not installTried 3 times to install this app - all failed.Version: 2.1

Disappointed!!!!This particular app is not Audiobus compatible!!!! Beware!!! I don't know why when all the others are...so I felt I was ripped off!.Version: 2.1

CrashesThis update cannot run, says Loading then quits, restarted ipad mini , same thing, please update.Version: 2.0

Not worth itThe app crashes every time I edit a chord. Not worth all of the money. I enjoy working much better with Capture Duo for audio or my Ableton Live and Logic. On the ipad: Chord Poly Pad for chord input or Chordbot. For beats get Imaschine, beatmaker2 and to add to the mix check out fruity loops..Version: 2.1

Promising (but not how you think)I like the app. It has its limitations, true, but overall a fun app to play with and a handy jam-along/improv/practice tool. HOWEVER: For all of you hoping for Audiobus support- good luck. I'd love to see it as well, but way back when I first got the app (before the genre specific ones), I emailed the dev, asking if they would/could make a universal version. You see, I bought the entire IAP bundle for my iPad and didn't want to have to buy it again for my iPhone. The answer I received indicated that there was a universal app in the works. It failed to mention that the universal app would be an entirely different app altogether. I still don't have the IAP's on my phone, which is irritating, because the two apps (iPad and iPhone) are identical in content. If you want to work on the same project on both devices and are using an IAP, be prepared to pay for the same thing twice. Given that experience and the fact that they have the newer, AB compatible versions, I'd be surprised (but happy) to see that AB support arrive for this particular incarnation, regardless of the devs promises. Other than that, I do enjoy throwing a progression together and just noodling over it with guitar or synth..Version: 2.1

Needs developmentThis is too basic for songwriter outside of "beat"....the chord choices lack enough polyphony choices...I do contemporary jazz....improv over Latin, pop, R&B and so on...I was looking for something to create complex chords/pads for songwriting...this just too elementary to be helpful....disappointed so far...if updates and packs have more choices and complex chords...then maybe?...I won't hold my breath...not a pro tool so far....Version: 1.0

It does not on stallI had the same problem, it will not install on my Ipad 2. I down loaded the rock app at that works fine. This app hangs when it tries to install..Version: 2.1

Abominable UIThe UI on this thing is absolutely frustrating and made me want to stab someone 🔪 Try ANY other app..Version: 2.1

Another crappy app.Another crappy, not even free, "freemium" music app from the app store. Awful, non-intuitive interface, buggy controls and all around annoying app. Don't any of these companies test their stuff before releasing? What a waste of 3 bucks..Version: 2.1

Great app but it keeps crashingThis is a really useful tool for song writing but mine keeps crashing after about two or three sessions. Ok, it works again if I delete and reinstall, but then you loose all the files you had saved or were working on. Also you have to download all the styles again....a real pain. Really like this app but please sort this quickly guys..Version: 2.1

Don’t waste your money.I got this as a way to create backing tracks for practicing. I wish there were a way to return this and get my money back. Here’s what’s wrong: 1) Only one sample per style, so no variation in music created 2) Styles are lame sounding 3) User interface is difficult to figure out. I mean, touching on the right side of a chord bubble thing to add a chord? Who thought of that? Here’s what’s right: 1) Absolutely nothing. Just buy iReal Pro instead..Version: 2.7

Sessionband is really great!,,,,!!But still lack of connection with your other apps!! You need to improve file share system ! For example, if I made chord session in original version.... But I should make same chord session or need to use desktop computer to export acoustic1 or piano or country sessionband. but I dont have personal computer . Do you hear me?? So you need to improve file share system. Every app need to use same chord session(already made) If I made song chord in original band... then.also..it recomendered...another sessionband app can use this song chord session in my ipad. Today apple opened their file system through file apps. We can select files in documents apps. So you need to improve file system like this.... Sb files can be saved in documents file folder. And through this, we can download sb files to any apps you sold to us. I, m not good at english . I,m foreighner... I dont english in my daily life.... so I dont convince my english sentence is correct or not. But I hope you can understand my wording... Thank you for these apps!, good luck!!!.Version: 2.3

Good bitI hope an update because this app has a good potential. Need more variety of chords, D/F# for example, pre count, others rhythms ... Please update it!!!.Version: 2.1

Please work on your codeIll give it an A for cool sounds and innovation. Ill give it a C for cooperating with the user. Many glitches. Such as: When you export to audioclip, it sends the whole mix even if you mute certain channels. Like I turned down and muted the drums. It exports them anyway. Also, when you set the looping arrows and listen to part of the arrangement, it starts playing the last place you stopped even though you hit the rewind arrow. Then it begins playing from your loop arrow and the GUI does not match the sound. Also, when you type in words on the text bar. When your done the scroll feature freezes and you have to hit play to break it loose. It also need a scroll marker on the scroll bar to show your relative position in the project. Also need pinch zoom function ala garage band. Very hard to see where you are in the song..Version: 2.1

What Happened?Stalls and crashes on an iPad 2 with iOS 9.3.5. Reinstall didn't fix it. Used to work great..Version: 2.4

Nice basic kit, but...with...1 Stop/play button in Edit mode 👍 2 Change style/loop and tempo between chord changes 👍 3 Ability to mix loops and styles between packs. 👍 4 key change within song 👍 5 be able to use saved chord progressions in all the packs 👍.Version: 2.4

Great Concept, but Very LimitedWhile I respect the fact that this is a cool little app and acknowledge that each audio track is of high quality, it is still very limited in what you can do with creating a song. 80,000 royalty free sound samples in one little app sounds amazing, and just what non-instrument playing songwriters could hope for in an app. However, this is a bit misleading. These sound samples are confined to different musical styles, and to my limited knowledge of using the app, means that once you choose and apply a particular style, you are stuck using ONLY the sound samples created in the style’s demo. What does this mean for the songwriter? Basically, if you would write ten songs with ten entirely different chord progressions using the same demo and style (Alternative 1 demo in the Rock style, for example) you would essentially have ten songs using the same rhythm guitar parts, drums beats, bass lines, etc., which would make ten songs sound oddly similar. Even your verses, B-sections, and choruses will have the same rhythmic approach, regardless of the options to add one of three drums fills per chord. My question is, “why, why, why not allow the songwriter to choose ANY sound sample among the 80,000 to be applied to a track?” This is why I gave it 3 stars. I would love for the makers of the SessionBand line to prove me wrong. In fact, I’ve emailed them twice, yet no reply. Still, this app would work great for songwriter’s tool to get the basis of the song progression down as a rhythm demo guide for their ideas. Then an actual band or a better sequencing program could turn their basic layout into something they could release as a finished song..Version: 2.3

Pay twice... no thanksHave bought 4 of these session apps for iPad. And now I have an iPhone they want me to pay for them all over again? In your dreams. You just lost a customer..Version: 2.1

Not bad but needs sone ui workFirstly i like it. But, it crashes far too much to be usable. On iphone 7 crashes whenever headphones connected. Some os message you guys forgot about ? The ui is clever but annoying. You need to get better testers. Finally can you make default insert length 1 bar. Or allow it to ve changed.Version: 2.3

Good idea but!(iPad 3 64gb) Terrible Sound quality, very choppy and distorted. Also use with other apps as bpm out of sync. Needs a lot of work before I decide to install again! Useless until issues are fixed..Version: 2.1

It's okay...Good app. Fun to play with, but only 7 chord variations? Seriously? Not very usable in the real world. I wouldn't have bought it if I knew about that limitation..Version: 2.1

Unable to share songsSharing a song via email generates the expected m4a attachment, but this is empty when opened on a PC. Sharing via Audiocopy doesn't generate anything to paste..Version: 2.1

Good loops, BAD UI..Absolutely worst, un-intuitive, User Interface! Like HOLD loop until it turns green (not blue, or red with the "X") just green... THAT Means copy - I think.. Then tap 20 times at the next measure until it says, not with double arrows >>-<< PASTE HERE ! Oh NOW you are using Text Prompts? Or try something simple like moving the play head to the 8th bar .. huh? No sorry, this always plays from the beginning. Ok?.maybe a good user manual, something more than a 7 frame kid's slide show that, you guessed it, must be played from the beginning every time. Save your money and memory (750 MB) come back a few versions later....Version: 2.1

Workflow isn't greatDoesn't feel intuitive, workflow is kinda clumsy as best..Version: 2.1

UnfinishedNeeds audiobus!.Version: 2.1

What a mixed bag!So many pros and some serious cons here. On the good side, really nice loops for creating or inspiring grooves. Good variety (some of which I could do without), very fine musicianship. I do a lot of my writing on a PSR3000 arranger keyboard, and this is a workable (though not playable) sketch version of that philosophy. Just enter the chords, decide how long each lasts, and you can then sample those changes in a wide variety of styles and substyles. It’s inexpensive; I paid $2.99, and the same again for the “Complete Bundle.” Cons? Oh yes. Editing is a chore. You start from the beginning of the song each time you hit play. Why not establish a start point? How hard could that be? You can’t even start and stop while in edit mode. It is possible, fortunately, to insert chords within the structure, a good thing. Here’s what needs all kinds of work. Downloading the Complete Bundle is a Herculean task. You wind up having to download each of the (MANY!) packs individually. Yes, each blues style, each rock style, the next rock style, on and on. Worse, you can do only two at a time, it takes a while, and amazingly will not download in the background! So you wind up having to hover over the whole process. It’s been several hours for me and I’m still not done. Sorry - that’s lousy coding. Yes, these are large, audio files. But musicianship isn’t all there is to a usable app. It’s a bargain for what it is, esp. in view of some of the other subgroups being 2-3x the price, something that could also use work. So pros and cons, good stuff and bad, three stars. I’ll up it when they change some of the deficits, including the download ordeal..Version: 2.1

DisappointmentAfter such good revues I expected to be amazed but was left feeling cheated. The app constantly crashes and has basic editing capabilities. GarageBand is a far better buy. Downloaded v2 and it's still choppy and does not operate in a smooth way. I would advise anyone to hold off until these problems are resolved..Version: 2.1

Useless appBought this full unlock, crashes every five minutes, lost a cool song, not happy. Want a refund simple as. Also I now have to pay to unlock the loops again, that is not fair is it.Version: 2.1

Didn't like it..Huge files...average sounds. Not updated since 2013! Stay away..Version: 2.1

Missing variationsSessionband has great potential, but until there is an update that adds variations to the styles, it is pretty much useless in completing a song. Fills are not enough. It would be nice also to have hybrid styles. To mix and match styles would greatly improve this product. I like this app, just not complete. Hopefully future updates will address these issues..Version: 1.0

Waste of money until ....I love the concept but until they do a LOT more to it, I wish I had my money back. Cannot use the different pkgs together either. Extremely limited in control. As is, nothing more than a jam toy. Pick your chords? That's it? Get real! Tons of potential if they cared about more than cramming out limited releases to make more money Not buying another thing from this company until they get serious!.Version: 2.1

Great but....Great app but it need Audiobus! All of your other apps have it why not this one? Feels like you are holding out on Audiobus in order to get people to buy your other apps. Help out the people that support you by purchasing your apps by adding this much requested feature once and for all!.Version: 2.1

Bland to the nth DegreeAbsolute waste of money! Makes elevator Muzak and Supermarket jingles sound edgy!!!!.Version: 2.1

Poor edit pageGood loops but the whole app is not well designed. No pause/play button in the edit screen. This basic feature has been requested for years but developers don’t listen. The app needs updates based on users’ feedback..Version: 2.5.3

Pretty goodI do like session band but when I export a track to Cubasis it lags. I does not stay with metronome. So I can’t use it..Version: 2.5.3

Terrible....kept on crashing since installedI wasn't able to add more than 1 chord and the app started to crash.....deleted the app, reinstalled twice... kept on crashing...deleted for good!!!!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME..Version: 2.1

LinkI have all of these. I like them a lot except I wish they had ableton link then I would LOVE them..Version: 2.3

Crashes Each TimeThe app crashes each and every time I try to save a chord progression..Version: 2.1
