✓ Not happy!My teenage daughter fund this app and loved it, and so asked me to upgrade and get the full version for her. So I did this, and then found out that the upgrade only applies to the device it was bought on - I had used my own device, as I always do, when making the purchase, having no clue of this requirement. Tried twice to contact the ‘support’ service with this app, got no response either time. Waste of my not negligible investment in this app....Version: 4.2.9
✓ Paid for Pro get nothingI had paid for the pro version and now they have another app and not upgrading us for free. They are also forcing you to go to the new version and making the old app unfortunately on purpose. Even though we paid for that app to be working for lifetime membership. ✓ Poor deliveryThis app even at Pro level does not have a sign in so cannot sync with other devices. I don’t know why it let me pay to upgrade to Pro when it will no longer be supported come June 2019, and there is no way to turn off subscription auto renewal. ✓ For ClassicActually I am writing this review to resist the new version Grid Diary 2. The rating is an average. I have chosen Grid Diary Classic for its elegant simplicity and also purchased it only for the syncing feature (along with respect to the app developers). And it WAS so perfect that I’d like to rate 5 for it. Now the new features in the 2nd version are not attractive to me at all, however, it seems that I have to download it for a lifelong functioning use? I will rate 1 if the answer is yes. If there’s any possibility, please please please do consider maintaining the old version which I believe meets more users’ need indeed. After all, life is already complex, so please don’t make it more complicated..Version: 4.2.6

✓ Great but...Love the design aesthetic and the concept is brilliant, highlighting the realities behind writing a diary which can be both time consuming and a lot of people struggle to express their feelings so freehandedly. This app gives you a way to express those feelings by selecting questions of your choice and let's you write about your day with ease. A big issue remains. The app is incredibly buggy at the point where I wasn't sure if my posts were being saved to my day or if they were they aren't showing, along with a couple of other issues that are irritants. I think these issues might get ironed out with it being only a few days old and I have faith that the developer will fix these ASAP so I can give it 5 stars instead of 3!.Version: 1.0
✓ Too much time daily to change templatesI downloaded this app expecting I can have my own template title , however, instead of have 6-8 the same daily for what I need , I have to start the day by using their default template every day and amended it to what suits me-waste of my time.Version: 4.3.0

✓ Agitating at times!I like the notifications and all that stuff it at least give me an option to change when my day ends and not 9pm being the latest. What if it was lights out at 11:45pm? What if I didn’t go to bed until 2am and my day was ending then? Tonight I was playing some sports and at 9pm my watch and phone go off about the end of the day and to write in the journal. If I open it then the badge disappears and I forget about it. Please add this in an update so it doesn’t get more annoying and we can choose a later end date, even after midnight. ✓ Good app, but a little frustratingThe idea is terrific. I’m trying to develop new habits and shed old habits. I’m 73 and concerned about tracking my health issues and doing more preventive care. So having questions in a grid makes those things easier. The difficulty I have is that the grids are not easy to edit. Unless I just don’t understand the minimal documentation. It should be easier to add and subtract cells I don’t need in a particular template and then choose to save them to the template or not. It would also be handy if I could import items from my calendar. Like I said, great concept and I’ll keep using it as long as it is useful to me..Version: 4.1.19

✓ A couple of annoying bugs...Face recognition often authenticates once, then blanks out and does it again after successfully doing it the first time, then says it failed the second time. This is annoying and wastes time. Also, when I add a bullet to a new line and then delete something I type after the bullet, I don’t want the bullet deleted unless I CHOOSE to delete it. Wanting to delete the text after it and correct it does not mean I want to delete the bullet itself. They fixed this bug for a couple of days, then after an update with “bug fixes”, the bullet bug was back..Version: 4.1.19
✓ Good app that made an unfortunate decisionThis was a good app, and like others on my phone - I have always been happy to pay for that and have encouraged friends to do the same. But I will never be pleased with subscriptions: instead of paying for present functionality, it feels like paying for future potential or unused capabilities - or its existence. Just as I don’t like paying for cell data I don’t use and cable tv I don’t watch and streaming content I don’t care about - I don’t appreciate paying for an apps features I’m not interested in, nor its preservation. ✓ I thought my data was safe but it’s notI’ve been using this app since 2015 and it had every thought i’d ever had on it. then today it just stopped working and i’ve tried to get my data back and it’s gone. all of it. i would have given this app 5 stars but it’s completely taken away the app by doing this. it would be like suddenly burning your diary. if you’re the kind of person that likes to look back on things what makes it better is that they don’t have any way to contact them!!!!! i really want my stuff back. one promise they make is that my data is safe and it’s just not. it’s gone. all of it. and they won’t help me. and.... that’s what i paid for...????.Version: 4.3.0
✓ Great Potential - Needs more...Found this app while looking for a way to primarily journal what I wore on certain days to certain events...and note what I did at work each day. Started with the free version, but due to several limitations & needing a richer experience, I purchased the Pro version. There are still limitations that, if improved, would make this. 5-star app. Must link thru Dropbox or iCloud to sync. I don’t think I’ve seen an app require this. Perhaps many do, just none I’ve encountered. Formatting is BASIC. Entries look double-spaced. The is no single space option, which I would prefer when I am journaling. There are a few font options, but are very similar. While you can greatly alter the grid prompts and templates, you cannot change the default. You must change the template manually daily. In a perfect world, default templates could be recurrently scheduled, perhaps by days of the week. It would be a very nice bonus if tags & searches were added. While I have not experienced this issue, I have read on another review that the app only allows for 9 photos - total - for the whole app. I love the app, but for a paid pro version that syncs & backs up on my cloud storage, that would be a deal breaker. If photos are limited, I will lower my rating of this app and delete it. If improvements listed above are made, I will upgrade my rating and sing its praises..Version: 4.1.17

✓ Doesn’t syncI like the app and bought the pro version. Very disappointed to find it doesn’t sync with my iPad. I’ve tried reading the support page but haven’t found anything that helps. Contacting the developer seems impossible. Clicking that links tries to take you to their Chinese website - never loads on my phone. App would be great if I could also use it on my iPad where I can use a keyboard. Wouldn’t have purchased Pro if I knew it wasn’t going to sync. 3/2/18: The developer did contact me and gave me a long list of things to try - none worked. ✓ This app has a malware issueI downloaded and used this app for a couple of days. During this time, I was distressed to note that whilst using Safari the page would be taken over by a malware pop-up. I tried lots of things to remove this, including deleting cookies and restarting my iPhone. I then read an article about how some apps can have malware installed by accident, because it is actually very hard to infect an iPhone. Since deleting this app, I have not had the issue again. ✓ 😡😡😡😡😡Absolutely fuming. Ive just paid for the lifetime upgrade for £4.99 for them not to work. They haven't upgraded and every time I try to use and upgrade feature, it sends me to upgrade again. I click restore, it says restore complete then the same thing happens again and again. Ive paid for nothing more that the free version. Its not like you weren't aware of this happening months ago and you still haven't sorted it. If its mot sorted by morning ill be calling my bank and telling them to refuse the payment. If the money has gone, ill be having my bank get it back by putting in a complaint for fraud! ✓ Please add handwriting for iPad / Apple PencilHand writing is such an important part of daily journaling. It would be amazing if you could add Apple Pencil support for hand written notes in this application. I heard about 5 Minute Diary on Tim Ferris (get the book and that podcast is great.) I've become convinced of the power of journaling though those two sources. Huge benefits to daily gratitude, goal setting and recapping before bed. This app runs circles around every other diary app I've tried. I basically plugged in 5 Minute Diary questions and a few others and find this so perfect an interface. The best part is you can customize the topics/questions to whatever is important to you in your life at that time. By setting an alarm for morning and night you really start to form the daily habit which is the most important part of an app/ritual like this. Upgrading to the paid features was a no brainer. These developer have a great sense of design and workflow. Great job you guy!.Version: 4.1.19

✓ Good appI use this app every single day, i think the following would be good to look at/fix: 1) issues with attaching photos. used to be fine when adding photos, whereas lately you can’t add up to 9 photos. i have managed to add 5 to a grid. i go back and try add and it acts as if it’s adding it, but nothing it added. 2) when you want to change your default grid, it doesn’t update any dates where you have entered text into a grid. surely this could be fixed? 3) would be awesome to have some different choices of font overall this app helps me to stay organised, and is an app i use every single day... it is simple and clean, easy for anyone to get the hang of..Version: 4.1.19
✓ Pro Upgrade FailedI spent $4.99 on the pro upgrade and the app will not upgrade even with the absolute latest release, after multiple delete and reinstalls and even phone restarts. I emailed customer support and they responded once with “update to the latest release”. After confirming several times that the version I had installed was what they referenced as the latest release, I replied to customer support asking for a fix or refund and 2 weeks later have not received any reply at all.
